Authentic, original and local. This place is fighting gentrification and hoards of cheap, uneducated tourists with quality and tradition. Unfortunately, it goes unnoticed by the vast majority of people who walk by its door in search of a tatty, cheap, chinese made souvenir. Go in, talk to the lovely staff, buy some coffee or tea. Now THAT'S a souvenir.

We went there to visit Christmas market and we had so much fun. It's temporary but we loved it. There were many stalls and variety of food, snacks and drinks. Everywhere was colorful and nicely decorated. The surrounding buildings had Christmas decorations as well. I'm sure that even without the Christmas market this square will look amazing.

This place is spectacular. We came here this morning 🌄 and loved every corner of it. It had a Christmas 🎄 and many kiosks around the center of the square, selling all kinds of crafts, food, etc.

Good place to chill for a minute or two around the fountain. It is annoying though that there are so many gus trying to sell drugs and they can be quite pushy.

A very pleasant rectangular plaza lined with beautiful architecture, restaurants, caffes and shops. There is an impressive monument in the middle and two lovely fountains at each end of the plaza. A few trees that provide much needed shade complete the picture. Very popular with tourists and locals alike.

This column stand sin tribute to King Pedro IV of Portugal of the royal house of Braganza. His legacy was to lead the independence of Brazil from the then Portuguese Empire and becoming the Emperor of Brazil through it's early and turbulent birth, but ultimately abdicating. The statue stands atop a 23 metres high corinthian column and depicts the king wearing a general's uniform with a cloak, his head crowned in laurels, and holding the Constitutional Charter of 1826 in his right hand. At the base of the column are the four female allegorical figures of Justice, Wisdom, Strength, and Moderation. Qualities supposedly of the King.

One of the main squares in the heart of Lisbon. Two really nice water fountains and beautiful cobblestone designs. Really well situated near the Rossio metro and train stations as well as the Santa Justa Elevator. Surrounded by Teatro Nacional D. Maria II, retail stores, restaurants and coffee shops. This can be your starting point before walking down the famous Rua Augusta heading towards the river side Praça do Comércio.

Gorgeous place! Grandeur of Neo-Classical architecture of the Teatro National. Beautiful fountains on the different sides of the imperial statue of Dom Pedro lV. The wave-patterned mosaic of the square is magical. Rolling Motion Square, definitely. X-mas illumination and decoration - just fabulous. There are lots of souvenir shops and cafés here. X-mas market must not be missed!

This is a large public square, where there are often markets set up and temporary events take place. Even without these though, it's a nice place to just sit and enjoy the city. There are several benches spread throughout the square, with nearby trees to provide some shade from the sun, depending on the time of day. They're great when you need to rest the legs from walking throughout the city all day, depending on whether you can actually find one unoccupied. A few more would have been nice. There's a nice fountain to check out, which also gets lit at night. The cobblestones are laid out beautifully and have an interesting wave pattern throughout the entire square. There are plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby, but this is a good place to sit and have a snack and watch people go about their daily lives, as there is a constant flow of foot traffic through the square.

Great selection of well roasted coffee from many old Portuguese colonies st very reasonable prices. Friendly server (in Portuguese). All coffees (bean) are less than 32€/kg. Well worth a visit. Nothing fancy nor modern nor chic.

If one has to name one square in Lisbon, the heart of downtown, its Trafalgar Square... Rossio is probbably the one. It has everything: National Theatre, beautiful fountains, overlooked by medieval castle, nearby historic train station, big statue of a Portuguese king (first emperor of Brazil), traditional cafés and shops all around it and connecting the main street leading down to the river with the main boulevard leading up to the newest part of the city.

Praça Dom Pedro is probably the most visited place in Lisbon and rightly so. I was here end of November, and it's beginning to feel like Christmas already! Lovely stalls selling cheese, local hand crafted items, I would suggest trying the mulled warm spiced wines. Then try the local Portuguese food, bread and pastries in nearby restaurants.

Parca Dom Pedro IV is a true gem nestled in the heart of Lisbon. This charming square, also known as Rossio Square, offers a delightful blend of history, culture, and vibrant energy that makes it a must-visit spot for anyone exploring this beautiful city. The first thing that struck me about Parca Dom Pedro IV is its stunning architectural beauty. The intricate designs of the surrounding buildings are a testament to Lisbon's rich history, and they provide a picturesque backdrop for any photos you might want to take. The central statue of Dom Pedro IV adds a touch of grandeur to the square, and it's a great spot to learn a bit about Portugal's monarchy. What truly makes this square special, however, is the lively atmosphere. Parca Dom Pedro IV is always bustling with activity. Street performers, artists, and musicians add to the ambiance, creating a dynamic and inviting environment. It's a fantastic place to people-watch and soak in the local culture. The square is also conveniently located near many of Lisbon's top attractions, making it an excellent starting point for exploring the city. From here, you can easily stroll to historic neighborhoods like Alfama or take a tram to Belém to sample the famous pastries. Additionally, Parca Dom Pedro IV is well-connected to public transportation, including buses, trams, and the metro, making it a convenient hub for travelers. Whether you're visiting Lisbon for its history, food, or vibrant culture, a visit to Parca Dom Pedro IV should be high on your list. It's a place that encapsulates the spirit of this beautiful city, and I can't recommend it enough. Don't forget your camera and comfortable walking shoes, and get ready to immerse yourself in the heart of Lisbon's charm.

I've seen the paving stone in this large plaza referred to as "nauseating" and didn't realize until this morning what was meant by that. If you stand in certain spots the pavers do look undulating and for those prone to motion sickness this might just be a problem. Personally I found it visually fascinating and couldn't stop taking pictures. Plus the seagulls and pigeons on the statutes were pretty cool. There are 2 fountains here that are pleasant the look at especially in warm weather. There are quite a few benches along the outside of the square plus outdoor restaurants and coffee shops. Now (October 2021) there is even a Covid quick testing site. Plus this is where several of the free walking tours start. Free, but it is nice, and expected, that you give your guide a tip.

One of the interesting things to see at Rossio in Lisbon is the Column of Pedro IV located in the centre of the square. This monument was erected at this location in 1870, replacing an earlier monument to Peter IV which was scraped in the 1860s. The landmark is 23 metres high and features a bronze statue of Peter IV, King of Portugal and the first Emperor of Brazil, standing in uniform and royal cloak. He is holding the book in his right hand. The statue is atop a Corinthian style column and square shaped base, surrounded by an allegorical corner figures representing Justice, Wisdom, Strength and Moderation. Overall, this is an attractive monument that is well placed at Rossio. Flanked to the north and south of the square by Baroque style fountains, the Column of Pedro IV contributes to this atmospheric location in the centre of Lisbon.

Worth seeing, and you'll do this as part of the free Rick Steves walk on his app. Great option if you're hoping to see the highlights of the city of Lisbon. We were also here after Thanksgiving, so they had a lovely Christmas market. We tried the proscuito sandwich.

Rossio is the liveliest square in the city, where people stop to sit and relax, or for a drink at the several atmospheric cafés with outdoor sitting (the most popular is the art-deco "Cafe Nicola" on the western side). On either side of the square are two baroque fountains, and in the center is a monument measuring 27 meters in height. It consists of a pedestal with marble allegories of Justice, Wisdom, Strength, and Moderation, qualities attributed to Dom Pedro IV, whose statue stands on top of the monument.

Great teas and nice accessories for your tea. And coffee. But the staff are unable to handle their payment system - DO NOT ask for a refund or a gift receipt. It took the employee over 15mins and still could not print it out and kept complaining about it.

Praça Dom Pedro IV, also known as Rossio Square, is one of the most iconic and historically significant landmarks in Lisbon, Portugal. As a long-standing tourist destination, it has been featured in countless travel guides and is a must-visit spot for anyone exploring the city. Located in the heart of the city, the square is easily accessible by foot, tram, or metro. Its central location makes it a popular meeting point for locals and tourists alike. The square is surrounded by historic buildings, including the National Theatre D. Maria II, the Rossio Railway Station, and the Rossio Palace, which was destroyed by the earthquake of 1755 and later rebuilt. One of the most notable features of Praça Dom Pedro IV is its intricate cobblestone pavement, which dates back to the 19th century. The unique wave-like design creates a stunning visual effect and is a testament to the skilled craftsmanship of the time. Visitors can also find several fountains, including the ornate Monument to Dom Pedro IV, which towers over the square and serves as a focal point for the area. While Praça Dom Pedro IV is a popular destination for tourists, it is also a bustling hub for locals. The square is surrounded by numerous cafes and restaurants, making it a perfect spot for people-watching or enjoying a meal. Whether you are looking for a quick bite or a leisurely dinner, there are plenty of options to choose from. Beyond its beauty and cultural significance, Praça Dom Pedro IV has also played an important role in Portugal's history. In 1974, it was the site of the Carnation Revolution, a peaceful revolution that ended the country's authoritarian regime. Today, a plaque in the square commemorates the event and serves as a reminder of the power of peaceful protest. Overall, Praça Dom Pedro IV is a must-visit destination for anyone visiting Lisbon. Its beauty, history, and central location make it an ideal spot to explore, relax, and enjoy the city's vibrant culture. Whether you are a first-time visitor or a seasoned traveler, this iconic square is sure to leave a lasting impression.

One of the main squares of Lisbon, close to the Rossio train station. A place where are often temporary markets and other events. First place that got decorated with the typical Portuguese pavement design mid 18th century.

Another site we visited as part of the guided tour. A central square where, according to the guide, the residents of the city used to gather in the past and where executions were even held. Today it is a nice place to take pictures and soak up the atmosphere of the city.

A grand square with lovely architecture on both the main statue and it's two adjacent fountains. Sadly the were not turned on when we visited, except for one brief moment which I captured, but it still left a good impression. We passed here multiple times, and every time I took a moment to take in the sight.

It’s one of the most beautiful park in lisbon Portugal. Especially on holidays, everyone comes here. There are many plants in this park which are very beautiful to look at.If you come in the city of Lisbon, Portugal, you must visit this park.I hope you also like this place. Many fairs are held here during holidays and Christmas. There are many old buildings around This park that highlight the heritage of Portugal. A fountain and two sculptures increase the beauty of this park. Rallies are seen here at various festivals. It is very nice to see the view of this park from the plane because the bottom of this park is very beautifully designed. Many pigeons can be seen here during the day. There are many restaurants and grocery shops next to the park. People of different professions come here and give a lot of entertainment. This is a 19th century construction of the King Pedro IV. It is located in a prominent spot, in Rossio Square. This one of the park ever I seen.I also want to go there once again.😍

(Translated by Google) In this iconic shop in downtown Lisbon you can find a wide variety of coffees and teas from all over the world. In an era of espresso coffees, nothing beats coffee brewed in a coffee maker. The smell of ground coffee and after brewing is wonderful. In cafes I recommend the Ultramarino, Brasil and Nicaragua blend. Also the variety of teas is great. They have tea from the Azores. They also have balloon coffee machines and accessories. Friendliness and professionalism in service are the icing on the cake. Very recommended.

Rossio is the most central square in Portuguese capital. It's official name is King Dom Pedro IV square, whose tall obelisk statue is in the middle. Two beautiful fountains adorn it on both, north and southern side from the statue, along with the National Theater on the northern side as well. However, its main feature is the "Wave" cobblestone pattern (every square in Lisbon has a different pattern) of "Calcada Portuguesa". This is the famous pattern you see on Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro and in Senate Sq in Macao. Great place to admire this beautiful pavement artwork, take pics and just people watch.

The owner was very knowledgeable of the products sold in the store but I can't say enough the they are very helpful when you ask for advice (example the right type of coffee for the machine you own, type of mixture you want) , in fact I still remember and occasionally buy coffee here (damn large shopping malls) even after 20 years it's since it's the same shop where my grandparents used to buy their coffee beans and custom made misture. Highly recommend.
