Whilst we were there (late July 2018), on a calm day, the waves were impressive. Beautiful beach; we'll visit again if we return to this part of Portugal.

The width of the beach is tremendous so you will definitely find an empty spot to lay down and enjoy. There are lifeguards and a couple of restaurants. Not the most accessible beach for people with motor difficulties. For that I would recommend the beach in Sesimbra.
