This is a gem of a restaurant! Tucked on the corner with six tables, everything was delicious and the sparkling wine paired perfectly with our cheese dish and mains of tuna steak and linguine with clams. The owner talked with us a lot and even recommended some other restaurants to us. Really can’t recommend enough.

Upon entering this charming nicely appointed restaurant I was taken but the cool menu on the little chalk board, the complimentary music, & the welcoming, friendly chef working right in front of us. Even the bread and olive oil was tasty. The best dish of our night was black linguini with shrimp. Basically died and went to heaven. A most pleasant evening with an excellent and delicious dining experience!

Full 5* without a question! It's the kinda place that you randomly walk into and then realize life is good. Small place with super attentive service, and food that I'll be telling people about for years. They have constantly changing menu but their cod and octopus were both heartwarmingly lovely. Important note: trust the wine pairing recommendation of the owner. He knows whatsup!

Such a great finding in the middle of the city! This place is a true jem that we were lucky to visit during our stay in Lisbon. The owner is very friendly and told us many interesting facts about the local food and port wine. Everything was really fresh and cooked professionaly. We will recommend it to all our friends! 👍👍👍

This is a great little restaurant. The owners are very attentive and explain the menu. We had a fish dish and clam linguine. Both were absolutely delicious, perfectly seasoned. The owner helped us out with a wine selection that paired well with our dishes. I highly recommend this place but don't forget to make a reservation. There are only a handful of tables. Dinner starts at 7 pm.

I’d say it was our best food experience in Lisbon. The place is really small, and we didn’t have a reservation but they found a place for us. While waiting, we were offered some wine that was a great welcoming gesture. The waiter was amazing. He’s super attentive and kept and eye on all his guests. The food was delicious! We got great wine recommendation. For food we had an octopus that was melting in the mouth and shrimps. For dessert we went for crème brûlée with lemon - that was superb!

This restaurant was one of the BEST restaurants I’ve been to. It was practically heaven on earth. The staff is extremely attentive and kind. It was truly an amazing experience. I recommend it to everyone.

Although both mains I have tried (entrecôte and pork cheek stew) were amazing and desserts (drunk pear and mousse) and cold cut plate were truly magnificent; the hospitality in Tabernario do Bairro is what i want to write about. All the little details while serving the food and excellent introductions made me remember how important doing your job good is even if there is no one measuring it. I will keep having faith in this world as long as restaurants like this exist.

We had high expectations based on the reviews and they were exceeded! Excellent food! Stellar service!!! Very flexible about adapting a dish. The sauces were so good that we used extra bread to wipe out plates clean. We had squid ink pasta with shrimp (best I have ever had, and we are from NYC). Salted cod was perfectly cooked.

One of the best meals I had in an unassuming setting. The restaurant is small and cosy with one waiter (I presume the owner) serving who made you feel at ease. We begun with the scrambled eggs and chorizo which was delicious - the eggs were done perfectly. Next we shared the prawns and the octopus. Compared to other places I've eaten the portion size of the octopus was huge and the potato dish it came with paired perfectly. For me the prawns were the highlight, the sauce tasted so creamy but without there actually being cream..unreal. We ended by sharing 3 deserts and each one was perfect. The vino Verde was also some of the best I've had and the waiter even showed us a little wine map of the different regions in Portugal. All in all I can't recommend enough for a special meal and my photos don't do it justice.

Our hotel was far from this place, but the food was worth the long walk! Owner were very attentive and explained the food when it was served. Oysters were fresh, sausage board was heavenly, and black pork dish was hearty and amazing. Would highly recommend those to visit and suggest reservations in advance

A great example of classic Portuguese food - all our dishes were delicious, the Couvert Lisbon is a percentage starter for 2 with the most delicous buttery sheep cheese! Great wines and all very reasonably priced. Our server spoke very good English and the service was excellent! Highly recommend if you're staying in the area.

Süßes, kleines Restaurant mit wenigen Plätzen. Reservierung ist daher zu empfehlen. Die Speisen waren lecker. Der Service umso besser. Der Besitzer gab sich viel Mühe und erklärte mir viele Besonderheiten der portugiesischen Küche, z. B. während der Wurstauswahl zum Porko Preto. Abseits unserer Bestellungen gab es dann noch ein zwei weitere Wurststück zum Probieren. Gleiches galt für den Dessertwein hinten raus!

Excellent food! The best dinner we had on Lisbon. Great service! Very clean. I promise you will be very happy and you will want to go back like I do. Sadly I am leaving tomorrow morning!

Great food! A bit out of the main tourist routes but really worth the visit. Try the sausage and cheese plate or what ever fresh fish is on available. The curd cheesecake is also a must.

Food was fantastic, highly recommend the tuna steak and the clam linguine with some bread and olives, we asked to share it all and they were very accomodating. Service was quick and attentive and the owner explained the house wine (which was lovely) enthusiastically with a geographic map. It is a small place with only a few tables but they have carved out a cosy corner which serves high quality food and drink. Thank you for a brilliant first meal and introduction to Lisbon!

A gem of a small, sweet restaurant that serves high-quality, delicious Portuguese fare. The garlic prawns were among the best I have ever had, and the linguine with clams was delectable and perfectly al dente. On top of the amazing food, Felipe and Carolina were warm, wonderful, and generous hosts.

Situated on a quiet street in the old town, was this family run traditional restaurant. It is very small with only a handful of tables inside and outside, so booking is advised. The owner was absolutely wonderful and couldn't do enough for us he had extensive knowledge of wines and helped us make some great choices. The food was comforting and delicious and was a great relaxing evening, just chilling

Wonderful experience! Food was delicious, service was friendly and attentive and the wine was fantastic. We asked forma wine recommendation and we couldn’t have been more satisfied - a delicious, well-paired wine and our host gave us really great background on the wine. A very friendly neighbourhood resto that serves great food and great wine with friendly service at great prices. What more could you want?

One of the best Portuguese food I ever had - Bochechas de Porco

We had an unplanned visit to this restaurant - it was basically the closest open option ... and what a pleasant surprise. The highest quality of food and service in your neighbourhood. The restaurant is small with a very cosy atmosphere, the waiter had a great attitude. We had octopus with smashed potatos and black linguini - both were very delicious. Highly recommended and worths detour from other areas of Lisbon.
