The management of this place is a shambles. You spend several days trying to make an appointment because the line is always engaged and when you do finally get through (after 50+ attempts) you're told it's too late and you have to try again in the next session. When I did finally get a call back from the GP the call was dropped and I was accused of not answering the phone. Had to go through the same rigmarole again the next day to be given a call when I had clearly stated I was unavailable to answer at that time. Onto day 3 of trying... There's only a handful of GPs who are actually helpful so it's a roulette as to whether or not you get appropriate care when you do eventually get an appointment made. It's no wonder that A&E is so overcrowded when it's impossible to access GP services 😡😡😡

I was a former patient of this practice. They are awful; the receptionists have chats amongst themselves instead of answering phones or dealing with patients in front of them. The patient "care" is non-existent - I was prescribed the pill despite saying I have migraine with aura (you can't take the pill if you have this type); I was supposed to have a tonsillectomy, but due to an illness on the day it didn't go ahead and they never bothered to re-refer me. I moved away from them to a better practice (and sadly moved from that area so am now with another rubbish health centre). I don't know why our GPs are so rubbish here, but it needs to change, quickly. We are the customer and the care system is not working.

No one answers the phone . Like Russia in the 70s . Easier to get through to the Queen or the pope. Practice has an Attitude of entitlement and patients are a real bother to them . Practice has forgotten what it is there for - its not run for the patients but run to accommodate those who are employed in it and who are being paid by the NHS .

Have to wait at least 2 weeks to get an appointment, and that’s not even with your own doctor (god knows how long you would be waiting in that case). Phone line is very hard to get through on, usually you have to try several times before you can get through (very difficult if you have any kind of life). When you do finally get an appointment you’re never take on time. I know the NHS is under stress but from speaking to other people this doesn’t seem to be the case in the majority of other surgeries. Doctors are nice though, just unfortunate about everything else.

Ive been with this practice for 20 years almost, my mum and Gran also used it. Great doctors, especially Dr Connelly who has such a great way with patients, and Dr Dallas, both talk plainly and to the point. They do call backs which saves on trying to get appointments. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately you have to give 1 star to write a review. I didn't realise to be a receptionist all that was needed was to be rude and abrupt! Also maybe Drs should pass on what they tell their patients to the receptionists then they might be a bit more approachable and helpful.

Joined Finaghy HC last year. Each and every single member is extremely kind and helpful (every GP Specialist of the practice & receptionist). Really happy with the management of the practice.

Have been a patient of the Irwin Practice for almost 50 years , both in Dunluce and Finaghy. The care I’ve received throughout that time has been excellent and none more so than in recent few years given the current situation of the NHS. Everyone I’ve been in contact with from receptionist, nurse , pharmacist, GP have all been courteous and professional. All healthcare is in crisis at this present time but I’m appreciative of the support I and my family have received. Obviously some areas could be improved on, especially trying to access an appointment via phone , and maybe going back to online booking for non urgent appointments might be worth considering, or email option but once you do manage to secure a telephone appointment the GP’s are always professional and caring. Despite the negativity from the media I think the staff provide an exceptional service under very difficult circumstances and I’m very appreciative. Evelyn Hamilton

This week I have had the difficult experience of trying to access a Doctor because I have Covid On Tuesday I rang 117 times before I got a Receptionist to Answer and then was placed in a holding queue with 6 callers in front of me this resulted eventually in an unknown to me Doctor calling me back eventually after 2 pm that day this conversation did not offer anything it exhausted me On Thursday I rang again another length of time to get to talk to a receptionist and was quizzed inside out and upside down when I explained that my Saturations were dropping and I needed to speak with a Doctor the Receptionist questioning as to who had told me to monitor my Saturations ????? Eventually I did get talking to my own Doctor this was very supportive and positive It is always a nightmare ringing this Practice I only ring a Doctor when I need one This system with this practice is clearly not working Ringing through to this practice this week when I have been feeling very sick has been exhausting and questioning by receptionists about what I have been doing around my illness at home is quite frankly a step to far Can anything be done to improve this ? Could Finaghy Health Center use an App to get an appointment system going to speak to Doctors it is 2023 !!!!!! Desperate system for patients anything any practice Manager can do????
