Gone down in the last 6 months. Some of the staff rarely greet you with a good morning - they don't bother looking at you most of the time. My wife has noticed problems in the changing rooms; locks on toilet doors are faulty, handcream is no longer available in ladies hair drying area, in some shower cubicles the gel/shampoo bottles are not secure, used hotel towels are left lying round, even a plaster with blood on it was in the showers area for over 3 hours! A Manager doing an hourly check would prevent this. You used to see cleaners around on a regular basis (very pleasant staff members), - but you hardly see any now - it's as if their hours have been cut down. Definitely going downhill since Amanda left. Hope this is going to change - it's not a cheap membership and used to be a very pleasant experience to go there for a few hours.

Mike (Manager) and Roger (Waiter) in terms of staff, were extremely friendly and helpful, this is where it ended unfortunately. We stayed for 2 nights. Both nights the room was so hot! Bearing in mind it was 4 degrees outside, we had both windows open, and the the air con on. Still far too hot to sleep. The pillows were like sleeping on car tyres. We asked at reception 3 times to have them changed, to no avail. We came for a spa weekend. The treatments were good, however, Spa Hotel is a bit of a stretch. Its more like a 1980's hotel that they have tried to update. Iys more of a hotel with a leisure club and pool. If you want a Spa, look into Nirvana Spa for absolute luxury. The hotel was clean clean however, and can see that parts have recently been refurbed. Potentially this review is harsh, but a Spa hotel you want to relax and sleep well, we didn't The do have Tesla charging facilities. Food was good.

Cannot reccomend this spa enough. Had a fabulous overnight stay at the hotel which included a 50 minute treatment and use of all the lovely facilities. Our professional and fabulous therapists, Amy and Debbie gave us the best massage and facial we have ever had. We came out floating on air and will definitely be back 😊 Thank you.

Lovely spa treatments. Chemicals in pool and jacuzzi very strong and turned my jewellery black so beware.

The Park Royal has become our go-to place to celebrate special occasions. Their spa days and spa breaks are great value, and the treatments are sublime. They have excellent wet and dry gym facilities, too, with exercise classes if that's your thing. The rooms are quite large with good facilities. Some rooms are a little tired looking, but the beds are comfy, and the service is friendly and helpful. Already booked our next celebration, can't wait!

Went for a spa day for my sisters birthday. The neck, shoulder and scalp massage was very bad - the masseuse applied no pressure and (honestly!) just stroked my neck and forehead for 20 mins. Went to use the jacuzzi and there was what felt like gravel in at as the “filter had broken” (thanks for telling us…). I liked the sauna and the pool is a decent length but had swimming lessons in it. Not the most relaxing of spa days… The ‘light lunch’ included was either 1. Jacket potato, cheese and beans or 2. Caesar salad. Surely there are better options than this for a similar cost?! I would have requested a refund if it weren’t a gift.

Had a lovely day at the spa today. We were a group of 5, went for my daughter in laws 40th birthday. Treatments were amazing and very relaxing. As they had to change the times of our treatments, we were given a bottle of prosecco to share at lunch. Would definitely return. Facilities we used were the pool, jacuzzi, sauna, treatment rooms and restaurant

If I'm to be honest, I wouldn't go here again. The hot stones massage (£79 for 50 minutes) was just ok yes it partly relaxed me, but comparing to the massages I've had worldwide, this was one of the worst. The lady warned me before we started that she would have to keep breaking contact to get the hot stones (not a problem but made me keep looking for it rather then relaxing) then when ever she kept reaching for oils etc and keeping one hand on me to keep contact, the hand on was pushing back and forth on me while she kept this contact thing going not wanting to let go but not realising she was pushing and pulling me. Not that relaxing at all. It felt very routine as if she really didn't want to be there, the hand motions were very robotic and felt like she just wanted to get it done. Then when I finished I got a glass of water and went to the relaxation room for literally 5 minutes to drink it. By the time I had come out she had gone and put a closed sign on the door with it left unlocked so I could just let myself out!! She was the only person there the whole time, she did the reception and the massage. Really not a nice experience which I had been looking forward to having all year to use a voucher that had been delayed due to Covid. Never again!!!

First time staying here. Looks nice from the outside and was nice on the inside. Helpful staff both on the desk and the bar. THEN it all changed. Got to the room which was the furthest one away to find someone was inside. Apologised and made our way back to reception. Luckily someone in the queue let us in and we got changed to a room just around the corner. THEN at 4.00am fire alarm went of for sometime, quickly dressed to find that it was a false alarm. (Safety first) No apologies from anyone. Other hotels I've stayed normally do post a letter under the door to at least apologise to the guests but I suppose being short staffed these days it cant be done. With out all that I think I would have given it 4☆

Came for a presentation night, bar was over priced. Food and service was worst I've seen. Got better food when I was in hospital.

I've been staying here 3 weeks now and am delighted with it. Very friendly staff and rooms are great and spacious. Pool and spa facilities are right up there with the best and always immaculately clean. Restaurant menu is fine and food can also be ordered in the bar. Overall very pleased 😀

Stopped for one night during a business trip. I found the room dated and tired and the water was freezing. After running the water for many minutes, I enjoyed a luke warm bath. The whole tap came off on my hand? Not impressed I give it two because I could probably have moved room. I walked down to the bar at 6pm and the remnants of breakfast were still in the walkway. I would expect that the migrant barge in Portland would have better accommodation. The thing I am most happy about regarding The Royal Spa hotel is that at least I won’t mistakenly stop there again.
