Amazing results after what was a traumatic experience when the machine’s eye tracker wouldn’t work half way through my treatment. This meant that the second stage of the surgery couldn’t commence. I wasn’t given an explanation of what was happening during the procedure. I could hear there was a problem but no one was telling me what was going on - which was petrifying. I have had an apology from the clinic manager but better communication and reassurance needs to be in place. It was also down to user error that the machine wouldn’t start (something about not clicking the right pedal down on the chair) which was not reassuring when I went back into the room after being left in the waiting room, on my own, blinded and amongst patients who were disconcerted when they saw me come out of the room with fear and panic on my face. Don’t get me wrong, the sight I have is completely worth it all now but I cannot tell you how terrified and upset I was when no one would tell me what was going on. Is an apology enough when I have gone through this? I don’t know, I did expect a little more than that but I hold no bad feelings towards any one personally. However, my feedback needs to be taken seriously.

I wore glasses from age 3 and then contact lenses for the last 50 years. I had been told years ago that I would need lens replacement rather than laser treatment and this put me off having the procedure. I decided to have a consultation at the Preston branch in mid October and the staff talked me through the process and reassured me. Having worn gas permeable lenses for such a long time I had to leave them out for 28 days prior to the operation to allow the corneas to return to their original shape. This was the biggest hurdle for me but I was provided with soft lenses which I could wear until 10 days before my operation. I had my lens replacement on 17th November at Bridgewater Clinic in Manchester. The staff were brilliant and looked after me through every step of the procedure. The operation was painless and very quick, the theatre staff were wonderful and the music was a good distraction. The following morning I had my follow-up tests in Preston and was cleared to drive. I haven't had any problems or after effects and I should have had it done years ago. I'm still at the stage where I reach out for my glasses when I wake up in the morning and then I realise I don't need them. Thank you to all the staff members at Preston and The Bridgewater Clinic.

God knows how long I waited for an impprtant and time sensitive appointment (losing sight on both eyes)' so need surhery to delay it. I begged, emailed, messaged, called a ridiculous amount of times to get booked, I forced the issue, finally got an appointment. I attended, signed forms, discussed with surgeon, got prepped, surgeron ready, just a minute or two left for actual surgery...........CANCELLED......one the drop they were due to use was EXPIRED. Now......back to square, will have to beg, email, message, harass to get an appointment, which will probably take another year.....by then i'll be BLIND. Upside to being blind is that at least I wont require surgery!

From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the people her were fantastic. Courteous, polite, and professional. Before my operation I was very nervous but was immediately put at ease and the procedure turned out to be completely painless. The transformation in my eye sight with my lens replacement is like a miracle. If anyone asks me should they have the operation I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Optical express at the Manchester Bridgewater clinic. Thank you !

Had my eyes done just before the pandemic hit. I had lens replacement done by optical express on the 14th march 2020 and from that date I have had headaches and cannot see right, so I think they have used the wrong prescription in my eyes. I have been to lots of appointments at optical express in Leeds when the pandemic hit, all they did was give me eye drops, and more glasses just basically fobbed me off. the place I had them done with was 120 princess road Manchester they shut down for over a year, and when they re-opened they said they wouldn't correct them because it had been over a year from having them done, I have now had to suffer with blurred vision and not being able to go out at night due to traffic making my eyes bad with light shine. I cancelled my payments to them last year, because they wouldn't sort them out, and now they are getting debt collectors texting me, ringing me, emailing me, the last one I had offered me a 70% reduction in what I owe them, so this tells me they know they are in the wrong, and I have spent the last 3 years either in bed with a bad migraine or in the house because I am scared to go out all I wanted them to do was to sort them out, but they told me because it's been over a year I would have to pay over 9K again. now I want to sue them for medical negligence and 3 years of my life having to live like this.

Really disappointed , had my appointment cancelled last minute even tough I'd booked day off , arranged childcare and was on train on way to appointment. They'd already deducted £100 for the eyetest . Got rerouted to St John Clinic, even though I'd booked the Bridgewater clinic especially to check back of my eye, they don't have that machine anymore at St John clinic. I had lens replacement surgery few years ago and had no issues with the surgery, but the aftercare and appointment system is a mess. Its not the first time this has happened. I'm hoping I can get a refund .

Fantastic experience from start to finish. I had iDesign LASIK eye surgery and am so pleased with the results - wish I’d done it sooner! The team were all so warm and welcoming on the day of my surgery, and the surgeon explained everything in detail - I felt so at ease and relaxed the entire time. It’s not even been 24 hours since my op, and my vision is incredible!

I had a flawless experience. Managed to get booked for surgery within just 2 weeks of consultation. The entire process was quick but very thorough. Lewis was great at walking me through the finance options and scheduling. The optometrist, Faizah, is an absolute star and incredible at her job. Made me feel really at ease, talked me through everything in the most cohesive and professional manner. Super grateful for her taking such great care and being so positive and encouraging. I had my surgery with Dr Huba Kiss, who despite suggesting the alternative procedure on the day made me feel very comfortable and looked after. The surgery was completely painless - the recovery was rough on day 1-2, but I felt well prepared for it. Thank you!

We came to Bridgewater to have my cataracts replaced. Never having gone private before, I can really recommend it. I had to wait a little bit longer than expected but I never felt like I was waiting, as you do with the NHS; someone was always there to ask if I was all right, if I needed a drink, etc. From the moment of arrival, through the very comprehensive tests, and on to the surgery itself, staff was amazing. Optical Express hires real people persons, as everything was thoroughly explained and I had time to ask questions. Though I was nervous when I arrived, they quickly put me at my ease; I actually enjoyed the day. Especially when the next morning I took my goggles off and saw the world properly for the first time in three years. Now I am without glasses (except for reading) for the first time in 60 years. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone considering cataract replacement surgery. Brilliant!

My husband had lens replacements yesterday, there was a slight issue where the optometrist turned up late which meant we were sat around for an hour and half. The staff were really lovely especially Michelle on reception who makes a great cup of tea! Everything went really well and today his eyesight is spot on, would recommend

After procrastinating for 25yrs regarding corrective eye surgery I made the leap earlier this year and contacted 3 different clinics for IOL exchange surgery. From the 1st phone call to todays 1m post op check up I have been comforted and reassured by the whole team at OE. They were by far the most professional and friendly team.of the 3, happy to answer all of my queries and give me time to express any and all concerns. I felt I was in good hands and after a call with my surgeon knew I had made the right choice. On the day of surgery Mr Desai and his team at the Bridgewater Clinic were friendly, professional and thorough. My nerves were recognised and taken seriously but I needn't have worried, the procedure was nowhere near as bad as I had imagined it would be with only minor discomfort. I visited the Trafford Centre for my 24hr post op check and Chester clinic for my pre and 1m post op checks. I was delighted with the support and professionalism extended on each of these visits and am delighted to say I have been discharged today with a zero prescription. I can't recommend the whole experience highly enough and only wish I'd done it sooner!

Excellent treatment a Bridgewater Clinic in Manchester. A great surgeon and team. Everything clearly explained so no surprises. My husband had a very positive lens replacement experience .

I attended the clinic for eye replacement surgery, the facilities are spotless, the staff very polite and courteous. The reason I didn’t give 5 stars is due to the time spent waiting around between the tests and then the surgery, my appointment was 2.30 pm and I had my surgery at 6 pm, not sure why it took that long and communication advising why the delay would have been appreciated. The surgeon was brilliant the surgery has been so successful, 2 days after and I have no pain or discomfort and I have better than 20 20 vision which is amazing, as others have said my only regret is not having it done sooner.

I can truly say my experience has been life changing. I had my four week post procedure check up this morning which confirmed my vision is excellent and better than 20/20. My eye sight is now miles better than it was when I wore glasses. The whole process end to end has been fantastic and 100% worth the investment. Completely recommend.

My appointment was booked for 9:30 but I was not actually seen by anyone until 12! On arrival I was not advised of any delays nor was I updated on timings whilst I was in the waiting room. The information I was provided prior to my appointment advised I would be here for 3 hours. I was in fact here for a total of 7 hours!!! The consultants and nurses were all very friendly and informative. They were all very professional and made me feel at ease. I would have given a 5 star review if it was not for the total time it took.

My Mum recently had laser eye surgery here but doesn't do well with computers so she has kindly asked me to post this review on her behalf. Absolutely brilliant service, the staff couldn't do enough for you, so professional, but kind. I rang the day after the op, and spoke to the Lovely Lewis, who had linked me and walked me to the door. Thank you 😊 Elaine Mansfield

What a fantastic experience. From start to finish all of the staff were extremely attentive and really took care of me. My surgeon answered all of my questions and I always felt at ease. Both Michelles are a credit to the company also; they were superb.

I had LASIK surgery on both eyes, when I first got here I was very nervous and anxious. Within in 15 minutes of my Appointment I had my checks and was just waiting for my surgery. Alot quicker than expected, Surgeon explained everything to me and I understood everything and answered any questions I had. The most reassuring people ever. They had explained what it would feel like and they would still ask if I'm OK during it all. I would recommend Optical Express to everyone.

After a consultation at Optical Express Liverpool, I recently had lens replacement surgery at the Bridgewater Clinic in Manchester. The process from start to finish was seamless and ultra professional. The surgery itself was completely painless and within hours I had could read clearly without glasses and had good distance vision. Having previously needed varifocals or contact lenses, and separate intermediate glasses for computer work, I no longer need to wear any. Result!!

The pre and post op care is fantastic. Felt very well looked after. Still can't believe I have better than 20/20 vision. Would absolutely recommend laser eye surgery to anyone who can get it!

Wish I had done this much earlier.! Over the moon with the results 20/20 vision no more messing around with glasses or contacts.! Staff were brilliant with plenty of support all the way through the process. It took about 15 minutes per eye with a small amount off discomfort

Hello All, Wednesday 6th October, at 10am (yesterday). I came out of Bridgewater after having had eye surgery on both my eyes. I chose to have bi-focal lenses as I was worn out constantly having to clean my glasses and them steaming up every time I had to put a surgical mask on for work. I went back today at 10 am for a check up and after my eye test I already had 20,20 vision. I just wish I had done this 15 years ago when I first had to start wearing glasses. The whole team at Bridgewater from my first phone call and meeting with Emma to surgery and aftercare we’re brilliant. I would like to thank everyone at Bridgewater for all their support and help during my surgery. The surgery itself went very well, I did not feel a thing. Thank you Pedro. Also Andy and the rest of the surgical team who made me feel so relaxed during my surgery. Thank you to the ladies on reception and Emma who were and still are so friendly and helpful. Please if anyone reading this is thinking of having eye surgery, just do it you will not be sorry. Thank you all, Will

I had a very good, friendly, informative and professional experience. Sana and Alberto at Bridgewater branch gave me a lot of information and answered any questions I had. I left feeling well Informed and comfortable. The receptionist was very welcoming. I felt confident during surgery with Dr Desai and it was over before I knew.

I had my laser consultation at Bridgewater Hospital. I was very impress with all the machines that tested my eyes before the consultation. Allie the patient advisor went through some information and answered my question about laser. Salma the Optometrist who did the consultation was very friendly and informative. She went through all the scans and discussed my eyes and the eligibility of the types of surgery explaining in detail the differences. Emma kept me informed about the waiting times of my appointment. The process was covid safe and I look forward to booking my surgery

Optical express should be really thankful for their wonderful staff, everyone was super kind and informative. The hospitality is amazing and I'm sure anyone opting for getting work done here will be more than satisfied. Special mentions to Alberto and Lubna, for being wonderful hosts and helping me with the process brilliantly! Cheers.

I cannot recommend this place and feel that some safety measures need to be conducted ASAP. My experience was awful from start to finish to say the least and I deeply regret choosing to travel here from Stoke for my laser eye surgery. I paid extra for the Lasik iDesign as I wanted to have the best possible result. When I arrived here, I was asked to sign several consent forms and then I went into a room for the iDesign tests. Once the eye drops were put in, my eyes felt like they were burning and became very red - I was struggling to see anything and the woman doing the tests just tutted at me and found a colleague, who put more drops in. I was unable to complete many of the tests as my eyes were streaming so much, so they were unable to get a proper assessment for the iDesign. I was then asked to wait in a different room and spoke to with my consultant (Dr Erik De Koning) who barely looked up from his set of papers. After that I went back into the waiting room and then was called into the operating theatre. Here, one of the nurses quickly went through the procedures and I was asked to lie down. More eye drops were put in and my eyes started to burn again. I tried to put my hand up to ask why this was happening, but they were already starting the surgery. A female nurse very roughly grabbed my head and shoulders to put me into position. As the laser was administered, I felt a sharp pain in my right eye and then the left when it was done. I was struggling to breathe due to wearing a mask and the nurse was holding onto my head. After, I was feeling disorientated and was taken to another room outside where a woman was talking about aftercare and showing me bottles of eye drops and instruction leaflets - I could barely see anything and was in so much pain! She said my partner needed to come collect me straight away so she phoned him. I got into the car quite upset and asked my partner to take me home. 15 mins into the journey. I lost vision in both of my eyes - everything went black and the pain was unbearable - I was screaming at this point. It felt like acid had been poured into my eyes. I was blind for 12-13 hours, then had double vision for 24 hours. The pain was horrific. The emergency aftercare from Optical Express was excellent (from Hanley, Stoke), but when my partner phoned Bridgewater, he was quickly dismissed and offered little help. The staff were rude and didn't care at all. I had to have about 4 months of aftercare appointments due to complications and 7 months post-op, I'm still experiencing problems with my vision (i't's not 20/20, sometimes blurred) and have developed dry eyes that need drops putting in 4 times a day. I strongly feel that something went wrong during my surgery and the staff at Bridgewater just dismissed it.

I cannot recommend the Bridgewater Wellness Centre highly enough. Having lens replacement is a big decision to make but I have had such a positive experience. Absolutely everyone I dealt with at the Bridgewater was helpful, polite & professional. I was made to feel comfortable and at ease at every visit. Lens replacement and similar procedures can have complications - these are explained in great detail - on numerous occasions. My lens replacement went well but unfortunately, my distance vision was not as good as expected. It was a vast improvement but not as sharp as it should have been. Bridgewater have done absolutely everything possible to ensure that I came away with the best vision possible. I ended up having laser surgery to further enhance my distance vision. This was done by Mr Kazmi. He is an absolute legend! My distance vision is now nigh on perfect and he did this without compromising my near vision. Would I recommend, absolutely! Huge thanks to Emma and everyone at The Bridgewater x

Nothing short of Excellent, Brilliant. Outstanding from day one through to post op 24 hrs. LIFE CHANGING EVENT . Customer care best Iv ever experienced , ever! Fully supported, fully inform throughout! Kept up to date. No pressure to proceed, offered finance support with no pressure. Surgery and consultations went smoothly, no unnecessary hanging around either ! NO PAIN, great advice and eye correction that worked for me, Did what it said on the tin. Superbly clean and professional welcoming reception, buildings and facilities. Huge thank you and as many before have said ONLY WISH I HAD CONSIDERED AND DONE IT EARLIER. Every member of staff were superb.

With a prescription of +9 long sighted and astigmatism I do not think I have to say anymore as to why I was considering lens replacement. I have worn glasses all my life and contact lenses for the past 30 years, I was beginning to struggle with both and always longed to be able to see the alarm clock on a morning 😊. Having carried out a full review of the clinics offering lens replacement I chose Optical. I was unsure whether I would be suitable and very unsure of what to expect. From the first consultation to the actual surgery the support and care was fantastic. At Sheffield, the team do not take any chances and want to make sure you get the best care and receive the right solution. I had my initial consultation and although they did not foresee a problem, they sent me to Manchester for further tests to confirm suitability. The day of my surgery was smooth, and I was well looked after, all the time the team reassure you and inform you of what the procedure is and outcomes. For anyone who is concerned I have to say the surgery is not a long process and is free of pain and when you sit up you can see the difference, even on the journey home I could make out the road signs “amazing” As the weeks and months have passed, it has been a wonderful journey, my sight has improved far more than I expected. I am now nearly 12 months on, and my vision is excellent, not even using reading glasses. The aftercare has been second to none and nothing is too much trouble for the team in Sheffield. What I would like to say is, if you are thinking about laser surgery, have a chat with the Optical team you will be surprised by what they can offer. Also, I waited and deliberated until I was 58 of age “hindsight is a wonderful thing “and I would defiantly have had it done sooner, I can now see the alarm clock and do not get shouted at anymore for asking the time every morning 😊

I had the lens replacement surgery 3 days ago and would highly recommend. My appointment was booked for 7.30am and I left the clinic at 10.30am. All the staff were extremely professional, efficient and friendly. The clinic is clean and tidy, hot drinks and water were offered throughout my appointment. The procedure itself was quick and painless and less than 24 hours later I had 20/20 vision. As a contact lens wearer for the last 25years this procedure has been truely life changing, my only regret is not having the surgery years ago.

Absolutely delighted with my whole experience at this centre. The staff were excellent especially the little nurse who stayed with me till my family could pick me up. My eyesight now is amazing. I still keep saying to myself ‘wow’. It’s made my life so much better. I also have gained my confidence with driving. Thank you very much for giving me my life back

Wow!!! what a fabulous team of people, I had ey,e surgery on Tuesday and from start to finish they made me feel very comfortable. From the first visit at optical express to my surgery at the wellness clinic I was made to feel special. I wore glasses for 68 years, now my sight is crystal clear, without them. So if you are struggling with your eyes , give them a call you won't be disappointed.

Very happy overall, the staff were very helpful and pleasant. It's just lovely not to wear glasses anymore. I would recommend anyone that can have it done to do so. It's quite expensive but your eyes are very important and worth it. And it's pain free

I’m so happy with my new eye sight. I had lens replacement at Bridgewater where the staff are so friendly and helpful. I received a very professional service all round. I highly recommend you to have lens replacement if you are a suitable candidate. Thank you Bridgewater Wellness Clinic

I have undergone lens replacement surgery a month ago and was so impressed with the process, after care and results, that my Husband had his done yesterday too. The staff were helpful, understanding and supportive and the level of professionalism is second to none from the receptionist, right through to the Surgeon himself. It was for me, extremely reassuring to meet the surgeon myself and check out how steady his hands were before surgery. The venue is clean and welcoming and it suddenly morphs into a clinical/hospital environment. It's clearly a business, yet still manages to put the 'patient' first. I can't recommend the Hospital and the procedure highly enough.

Overall great service at Optical Express Liverpool and after my initial consultation I opted to have natural lens replacement surgery. I was well informed of the procedure and expected outcome and possible negative effects of the surgery. My surgery itself was very successful although there was a lot of waiting around on the day, approximately twice as long as I was told I would be there. Aftercare has been excellent and I'm delighted with the results. I am now glasses free and my sight is still continuing to improve as I adjust to the new multifocal lenses.

  • 5/5 Guy W. 11 months ago on Google • 2 reviews
I was recommended to have this done by my brother-in-law and is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I'm 52, I needed glasses for reading and distance and when riding had to put contacts in. I tried using vari-focal but could get used to them. Wearing different glasses for my design work on a Mac. It was all a bit frustrating with so many glasses and contacts, so I went for a free consultation and decided to go ahead with recommendation for Optical Express - Synergy Multifocals in both lens. 10 min surgery, everyone at Optical Bridgewater Manchester were friendly and professional and after 24 hours I could read. My experience after 2 months is great, you do need time to adjust to the lens but would do it again in a heartbeat. Just wish I knew about then sooner. Best decision ever.

Extremely caring and professional service from everyone encountered while going for my LASIK surgery. Originally had a consultation at the Trafford Centre branch. Where I was made to feel comfortable and had everything clearly explained. Was found an appointment which was perfectly suited for my schedule and booked in at the Bridgewater Wellness clinic. Everyone from the front of house team to the surgeon and his team were amazing. They put you at ease right away and can’t do enough for you. Never felt uncomfortable or unsure of anything once. Honestly can’t recommend them enough. An amazing service from incredible people, which has improved my quality of life.
