In 2003 a project was carried out on the area now known as Jubilee Woods, a former landfill site, to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee. Built in partnership with the Forestry Commission, Jubilee Wood was the first of 52 being planted across Britain; It was opened by Sting A 3-hectare path in the shape of a barn owl, only visible from the air, has been carved out of the site to represent the owls that have nested near Sefton Meadows for more than a century. Initially standing proud above the trees, over the 14 years since it was put in place, the owl isn't easy to spot any more and has weathered, gathering moss and lichens and is now truly beautiful. Well worth a look if you're in the area.

I love it here and is great to clear your head, but seems to be getting a little neglected lately. Wish they would invest in a car park and add a couple of dog poo bins to encourage people to pick up their litter/dog poo.

Lovely spot to sit and relax, hearing the beautiful sounds of nature and the smell of the flowers and trees make for a great experience, great adventure for kids too to discover the owl from all the different trails whether by bike or on foot.

Enjoyed the adventure to find this sculpture! The paths to the owl's clearing are now quite overgrown so it's more of a challenge. Lovely, peaceful area of woodland. Beautiful on a crisp autumn day.

Owl is a good feature to keep kids engaged, but it probably has a way to go before it feels like a real forest, some areas have quite a bit of rubbish and there's no real parking. However, still good for a short walk or blackberry picking in the autumn.

I love jubilee woods. Just a nice walk in all weather away from the hustle and bustle of life and to sit on the bench by the owl on a sunny day is just brilliant
