We
recently
visited
Bridgewater
and
enjoyed
it
for
the
most
part.
Booking
ahead
is
recommended
and
arrival
close
to
opening
time
means
you're
shown
to
a
parking
lane
by
marshals.
Upon
entry
to
the
main
building
there
is
a
shop,
toilets,
cafe
and
coffee
bar.
Turn
right
to
go
through
the
shop,
past
that
is
the
cafe
and
then
the
garden
centre.
The
shop
is
very
large
and
has
to
adhere
to
Sunday
trading
laws
so
bare
that
in
mind
when
visiting
on
a
weekend.
The
cafe
can
get
very
busy,
so
it's
worth
eating
before
entering
the
gardens.
The
food
in
the
cafe
is
good
quality
and
caters
for
most
diets,
with
indoor
and
outdoors
seating
next
to
a
pleasant
lake.
If
you
want
to
skip
the
queue
and
only
want
coffee
and
cake,
there
is
a
small
coffee
bar
hidden
down
near
the
garden
centre.
The
garden
centre
is
large,
well
stocked,
but
strangely
didn't
seem
to
have
much
in
the
line
of
garden
ornaments.
Back
to
the
main
entrance
and
you
turn
left
to
go
into
the
gardens.
The
gardens
give
the
impression
they're
not
finished,
but
have
plenty
of
plants
and
flowers
to
look
at
if
they're
your
type
of
thing.
There's
also
a
small
refreshments
caravan
in
the
gardens
if
you
don't
want
to
queue
in
the
cafe.
Past
the
gardens
is
a
large
kids
playground
in
the
woods,
with
a
view
over
a
small
pig
farm.
The
worst
bit
of
Bridgewater
for
me
was
the
woodland
walk
after
the
kids
playground.
Whilst
it's
nice,
it's
mostly
trees
and
weeds
with
a
few
iron
fences
marking
the
boundary
thrown
in.
As
someone
who
loves
nature
and
the
outdoors,
it's
just
not
that
interesting
and
a
little
dull.
Lastly,
due
to
the
proximity
to
a
local
airfield,
the
constant
noise
of
light
aircraft
overhead
can
be
a
distraction
for
those
wanting
a
quiet
day
out.
Compared
to
other
RHS
locations,
Bridgewater
feels
a
little
more
busy
and
less
serene.
Hopefully
they
will
improve
the
woodland
walk
and
it
would
feel
a
more
complete
package
for
a
day
out.
