Heard grate things about black heath fish and chips definitely didn’t live up to the expectations. My right eye caught the chicken burger on the menu, the young fella at the front was quite rude and asked stupid questions, for example he asked how much salt do you want on your chips. very fast service though but as l have opened up the little package deal I got to look at my chicken burger, I was disgusted with what I saw, had a couple bits of cold lettuce and the chicken was barley cooked, I though the chicken was still kicking as I looked in my package deal. You will find my chicken burger on the floor out the front if you want to go have a geeze at the standers of the black heath chicken burger. Also only a hand full of chips. Photo evidence below.

Trying to support local business but on the way back from a camping trip ... chips @ $8.20 for a large which is fine but make you pay card surcharge. The worst thing is the box was 3/4 full of chips , not full . Will not stop off again ..

One of the two places you can get food on a Friday night in Blackheath without a reservation. I thought the kebab shop would be the busier spot, but the Fish Shop was where it was at. For the price, I was super pleased with what we got. The fish and chips I had was decent and would’ve cost double in Syd. My partner had the chicken and chips and was equally pleased. The staff was nice and the service was quick. It isn’t really an eat in place but they had us out the door with our food efficiently. Probably the only eatery in Blackheath I would return to. And that’s saying something.

The most polite Man I've had the pleasure to deal with in a very long time, Server 3 I think, He was 66yo and reminded me of times when people cared and had manners. Highly recommend this place for a feed, great food, great price and best of all, great service.

Was on the way up to the Three Sisters and decided to stop by here for a meal. We ordered 2 fish and chip meals, one with the original and one with chicken salt. The thick cut fries were decent, and so was the original fish. However, we found the one with chicken salt to be a tad too salty. At least the fish was fresh and the meat was solid and chunky. Having the hot fries and fish was a good meal in the relatively cold weather. I believe this place is popular with the locals in the area, as almost every car that stopped outside would have their drivers come in to take away a couple of packets. Not the best, but worth a try.

A great local business that offers freshly made food. Staff is super friendly.Everything fish and chips, chicken, salads, and hamburgers made to order. I had a delicious hamburger with the lot!

Spacious, clean and tidy, with dine in area. Smooth ordering in store, with not too long waiting time at 5:30pm. May try to order ahead online next time. Had grilled fish and salad. Good price, reasonable portion size. Will be back to try other items in the menu

Had the double beef burger. It was not that great. Dry under seasoned plain tasting beef patties, lacked umami or any beefy flavour. Don't order the burger

Stopped here on the way to Bathurst and it was one of the best fish I’ve had. Very crunchy batter made fresh to order. Staff were very pleasant and polite. There was an old but tidy kept bathroom great for a pit stop too. Gets popular around dinner so expect a bit of a wait but worth the fresh order. Chips were nice enough. Would recommend for an affordable satisfying feed!

I love my fish and chips and have been past here a few times and finally decided to stop. Wrong move. I got the cocktail fish as it's easier to eat in the car, and from the first bite, the batter was heavy and rubbery and not light and crispy. The taste of the fish was a very strong fishy type of fish. The chips were ok, but the food was covered in a layer of salt. Looks like they buy in bulk and don't make themselves. I won't be back

Stopped here for lunch today after a bush walk and we weren't disappointed. The beef burger and chips were by far the best we've had in a very long time. Exactly the way burgers and chips were made before the fast food chains destroyed them. Prices are also very reasonable. We will definitely be back.

This place serves truly substandard food. I hadn’t been for a few years due to a poor experience but thought I’d give them another chance, thinking they couldn’t still be in business without having improved. Now I am doubting the legitimacy of the positive reviews after todays ‘lunch’. Though, I suppose we all have different tastes and expectations. The service was fine and the shop is clean, but I was shocked by how revolting the food was. The chips were rank and oddly sour - I have no idea how a potato can be corrupted to such a degree. And the ‘chicken’ nuggets were filled with a greyish mush. Inedible. The burgers were reluctantly consumed due to hunger. Very ordinary. Do your body a favour and source your take-aways elsewhere.

Thrilled to have this place as our local. The burgers are tasty af and don't leave you feeling gross. The chip servings are generous and perfectly cooked. 10/10 would eat again.

Unreal value, certainly don't find prices like this around much anymore. The fish was a bit dry (fish cocktails), and we were missing 3 out of 4 of the prawn cocktails we ordered in our fisherman's baskets (but the 1 we got was amazing). Maybe didn't order the best meals - we'll have to return and try some burgers :)

Easy parking around the place. Very busy at lunch so we got there early. Ordered a few different items of the menu and all were pretty standard but good. Service was reasonably quick even though busy. Sorry for the half eaten burger... i was hungry!

Had a delicious burger with the lot tonight. Yummo. We drove to Mount York to take in sunset whilst eating our dinner from Blackheath Fish and Chips. Always popular!

Great service and good food if your passing through. Get your order and take it over the road and eat in the shady park. At least this place was open. Everything else in town was either shut or 45 min wait for food.

Some staff are very encouraging, others are wondering what time they finish. Some of the quality of food has dropped here in the last year or so, but still a solid all around takeaway. Good but not the best anymore.

Best fish and chips shop in the blue mountains!! And best calamari I’ve had in all of Australia. Amazing value for money and friendly staff. Will definitely be coming back if we are in this area again :)

Apart from the chips, the rest were just to fill the hunger. Needs to look at the batter. It's too thick and uncooked on the inside of the fish cocktails. Prawn cutlets were tasteless. Need I say more? Disappointing. Up your game especially when it's a tourists destination.

Best damn burger you will find anywhere! The place may not look like much, but the food is great and for the price, outstanding. The staff are very friendly, and even when it's busy, your order comes out hot and delicious. I make a point to go when I visit family and it's worth the travel from the Northern Beaches. Pop in for a meal, you won't regret it!

As a kid used to get to stop at the little wooden building for chips. Nowdays after a few years (60 +) always a stop on way past ,rarely now for those potato scallops. Many thanks to Steve and Nita Vergotis for their work to build this icon. Stopped there a few days ago but forgot my card . Staff sooo helpful trying to get my tap n go working . It is service and quality that built this place . Yup 5 stars.

Lots of good food choices and burgers that actually manage to stay together, as well as a decent amount of chips that one person can eat. Seating is a bit limited, but it is the perfect takeaway to go looking around the area.

Chicken gravy roll Slightly overcooked bread and too much gravy that makes the bread soggy. It looks like they lowered Thier standard a bit but usually very good place to have burgers and chips

Omg we drive from Liverpool area just for there food the burgers are awesome and their chips and gravy are to die for and the battered savs are good too

love the fish cakes! reasonably priced, warm and crispy. They were kind enough to add extras because some of the fishcakes were broken while frying. Love their ordering system too especially in this pandemic helps maintain social distancing.
