I had the pork plate/stew combo with slaw. Food was great and server gave great service. I stopped in for lunch while at work short on time but hungry. After I placed my order my food arrived in less than 5 minutes . I previously thought Wallace bbq was the best, but now Johnny's is equally as good and they are open every day.

Picked up BBQ and sides for dinner tonight, and it was not good. The only thing that we really liked was the potato salad and the baked beans. The BBQ was all dry (we did get the sauce on the side, but still it shouldn't have been as dry as it was). The brunswick stew had no flavor, there was no cheese in our macaroni and cheese, and the sauce was like water. Overall, it just wasn't good.

Stew is a bit heavy on tomato flavor. Also a bit more liquid than expected. Somewhere between a slurry and a soup. Contained both corn and potatoes. Pulled Pork has good smoke flavor, sauce is thin vinegar that adds to the pork. Chopped chicken is chicken breast that may have looked at a grill. Very little smoke flavor or grill coloring. Also served surprisingly cold. Not very good, cannot recommend. I'd give it a low B for a grade. I've had worse, but I've definitely had better. Worth a second chance to see if I was just there on a bad day.

Best place in town. Great bbq, burgers and chili cheese fries. Great portions and filling. Great price. Meats are tender and juicy. Fries are crispy. Ranch is homemade tasting. Chili is spicy. Perfect for lunch or dinner. Sweet tea is amazing.

This was my first time, and won't be my last time! The pork and baked beans were delicious! The French fries were also fresh and not frozen. They have many items on the menu.

Yes, the place is good and all. But my boyfriend had worked here and was constantly abused by customers and staff members, there are bugs around the place that need to be checked out. My boyfriend did his best to make this place amazing and to fit in, but it got to the point he couldn't take it anymore. My boyfriend had pulled a muscle in his knee and the boss there didn't even care nor did they even give him time off to get better they kept making him work. This really frustrates me. They need to learn to treat there staff better. Also, they need to address there bug problem.

Good barbecue at a good price. I was happy with the quality, portions, and price. Johnny's serves straight barbecue. What I mean is, meat is unsauced and lightly seasoned at smoking. The vinegar based sauce was spot on. I added just a few drops of their hot sauce to give some extra flavor to the meal. A good place if your craving just good plain smoked meat.

I think the biggest problem here is inconsistency. I'm a local and I do enjoy Johnny's. Service is actually consistently good ... but you can definitely hit a bad night with the ribs and pulled pork. That said, I do go there for the ribs and pulled pork (anything with the pulled pork is good ... hickory fries, salad, etc) ... but yes, I have gone there and not had the best that they can do. Everything else is just okay (brunswick, beans, onion rings, hamburgers). Two tips ... if you get the pulled pork salad ... get the Buttermilk Ranch ... and 2, you have to ask for the sweet bbq sauce ... otherwise you are stuck with a vinegar based sauce that has seen better days. My four stars are for when they are running on all 8 cyclinders.

A Powder Springs tradition for a lot of families still has some of the best BBQ sauces, smoked meats and sides in Cobb County. Staff is always friendly and knowledgeable.

A very popular local home spun eatery. Model train circles the dinning room! Stick with the ribs.

An amazing spot to not only eat but to purchase clothing and suveniors. The food was amazing and service as well. I'll be planning another trip and pay another visit soon!

I love the Hickory fries and their Ranch is so good!!! We went at a less busy time so service was pretty quick. They did just have a really big crowd, so we could tell our server was tired, but she was really sweet.

They have a good "thrift plate" sandwich, fries and slaw for $8.00. On it's own merit,it waz a very good meal, excellent friendly service. Very similar to Wallace BBQ but just a enough different to tell the two apart.

This is everything I want in a restaurant. Good food, fair prices, and genuine people. The folks working here care about your visit. The vibe of this place is right up my alley too. It’s like a Cracker Barrel but local and better. After you are done eating you can buy you a Case Knife or Ammo if you need some too haha. The BBQ I had was good as well. Bringing my parents next time!

This was our first visit, we had pork sandwiches, fries, onion rings, cole slaw, and Brunswick stew everything tasted great and we plan to return. Also got 2 apple pies to go, and they were great also, plan to try peach next time.

The food was okay. I ordered the pull pork and the it was a little dry and missing some flavor. Onion rings were good. And its a decent amount of food for the price. The service was nice and the women working there were kind. I bought a candle from there and it was strongly scented which I like.

I may be a bit bougie when it comes to bbq so please take my review with a grain of salt. If you’re looking for a place with quick and affordable bbq this place is for you. I am not sure where else you will fine a slab of ribs for $13.99. Similar to a Sonny’s BBQ if your local. If your looking for that low key spot with quality smoked meats and amazing bbq this place is not for you. The good news: affordable prices, friendly waitresses, and quite a few options. Bonus: you can also pickup a pair of cowboy boots, knives, overalls and bird seed during your visit. Bad news: low quality meats that are a bit on the dry side and covered with sauce. No brisket, and not many vegetable options. Overall I would recommend Jim and Nicks, never thought those words would leave my mouth but I am a quality over quantity kind of guy. Seems like a family owned spot that had success over the years but has failed to adapt over time.

Slow service, very long wait time for a larger party, some of the blandest barbecue I've ever had. The chicken was overcooked to the point of being inedible and looked like a rubber chew toy.

  • 4/5 Jorge G. 1 year ago on Google
Hey Now! I had rib plate with beans and mac&cheese. Ribs were cooked great, tender, juicy, came right off the bone with not too much sauce. Service was good, reasonably priced. I recommend it to anyone for lunch or dinner. I will go back here the next time I am in the area.

I rate my BBQ joints by the Brunswick stew and this places version is the best I’ve had in years! Since my mama used to make it! The ribs were cooked just right and the smoked chicken sandwich was delicious! The buns are better than most places use. The hot bbq sauce is very good as well, just right on the heat!

Johnny's is a delightful, funky, locally owned place. I've not seen another place like it. The food is excellent. The presentation is mediocre too okay. I highly recommend it due to its uniqueness.

  • 3/5 Shane S. 1 year ago on Google
Our waitress was a 7 on a scale of 10. The cole slaw was terrible. The bbq sauce was not the worst I've ever had but it was close. First time going there and the last. Sonny's or JD's is much better.

Great place, it's such a wonderful experience with the store and old fashioned candies. The staff and food is always excellent. Some of the best bbq around.

Love the bbq but hate the service.. i’ve lived in this city for six years now been going to this establishment for at least five and every single time I go to the to go area I get greeted with extremely rude, cookers and staff outside of the one girl that takes the order, who is usually extremely nice and courteous. But if the heavyset guy with the young man’s haircut is behind the counter. Please expect your experience to be rude and sarcastic at the least. Don’t give me wrong. I love this establishment and I frequent it often but if Mr. buzz cut is running the show, I’ll probably find another BBQ place.

Seat yourself. Was immediately met at the table and asked for drink order. Server was wonderful and friendly, her name is Summer. We both ordered the pork plate that came with stew and fries. ALL was very tasty, seasoned and cooked to perfection! Highly recommend!

They food arrives quickly and always hits the spot. Great BBQ. This place had been a staple for decades in Powder Springs. Stop by for lunch if you're passing through historic down town!

This is an above average Country Store. But what's cool is it's an above average BBQ joint. Walk in sit yourself down and the goods keep happening. It was slightly busy when we arrived and we were eating in just a bit. Our waitress was very charming and flirted just enough to tickle a couple of old men. Based on our wait staff this place rates a 6, however, based on my baby back ribs they deserve a 3 thus the 4 overall. They were tough. It may have been the timing but 3 pm on a Saturday isn't too early or too late. Honestly, I make better ribs. I think they are confused about baby backs versus regular spare ribs. There was no baby in these ribs..it's worth a try but maybe some pulled pork or shredded beef next time. I am willing to go at it again. Good eating place. I think we hit em' at a bad time.

Used to live in Powder Springs, this place is a landmark in the community and hasn't changed a bit in the 30yrs that I've been visiting. Its a family owned, operated, layed back bbq place that has a general store inside. You can get anything from candy to clothing, candles to boots,, case knives (huge selection) to guns and ammo- its an absolute must visit if you are in the area and will prove to be worth a drive for great food and a country atmosphere if you are not.

If I could give no stars I definitely would. This is the second time I had a problem with this establishment. The first time I ordered from here I ordered 2 fried chicken sandwiches and got home(20min ride) to figure they gave me pulled pork sandwiches so I returned and exchanged them and after they exchanged them I checked my bag before I left again and received pulled chicken finally the third time they finally got me the right thing. Now this time I ordered a salad and got home and had hair in my food. Definitely unacceptable will not be returning or wasting my money here anymore. P.S. Might want to invest in some hairnets

Food was delicious. They were out of some items, but that's most likely due to the fact that everything there tasted good. Waitress was very polite, and checked on us numerous times to make sure we were satisfied, but not so much that it was annoying. The atmosphere was pleasant, and there's a lot to look at, including the waitress. Overall, a nice establishment.
