Free parking with National Trust membership. Β£7/Β£8 without for full day. Toilets on the car park. Take food and drink with you as there isn’t anything close by walking. Beautiful dunes, clean well kept beach, dog friendly. Lovely day out!

Formby Beach: A Tranquil Haven for Relaxation and Evening Delight Formby Beach offers a serene and enjoyable experience for those seeking relaxation and an idyllic evening getaway. While the beach itself and its surrounding walking tracks provide a delightful setting, it is important to note that the parking area is situated a distance away, approximately 7 to 8 minutes' walk, along a sandy path. This walk may pose some challenges, so it is advisable to consider this factor when planning your next trip to Formby Beach. The beach exudes a peaceful ambiance, with minimal crowds and a tranquil atmosphere. It lacks the presence of staff, visitors, shops, or amenities such as beach chairs and umbrellas commonly found in destinations like Dubai or the Maldives. Therefore, it is important to adjust expectations and not anticipate a beach environment reminiscent of those luxurious destinations. Nevertheless, the walking tracks and designated sitting areas near the parking facilities offer a pleasurable experience. The walking tracks provide an opportunity to explore the natural surroundings while enjoying a leisurely stroll. The sitting areas allow visitors to relax and unwind, providing a comfortable and enjoyable space for respite. In summary, Formby Beach presents itself as a haven of tranquility, providing a perfect escape for relaxation and an enchanting evening outing. While the beach itself may lack the bustling atmosphere and amenities associated with more lavish beach destinations, the walking tracks and sitting areas near the parking facilities offer a serene and pleasurable experience. It is important to consider the distance of the parking area from the beach and the sandy track one must traverse, allowing for appropriate planning and preparation for an enjoyable visit to Formby Beach Car Parking is 7.50Β£ per car from Dawn till Dusk. This beach require from attention from Local Bodies, government or Private Companies.

Parked at Formby Point car park, then a little walk to the beach. It is a lovely long beach stretching as far as the eye can see. It was great to walk on and the added enjoyment of the sand dunes, where you're never too old to get to the top of and run or slide down. Go and enjoy Formby Beach.

Beautiful beach with sand dunes, water is nice and warm, has a car park, ice cream van (so bring plenty of change), bins/recycle bins but they get filled up fast so bring bags to take your rubbish home in, i believe there's also a toilet but it closes around 4pm. Had a great time in the water with the waves, picnic'ing on the sand, the only disappointing thing was seeing all the leftover rubbish, it's a beautiful beach, we need to take better care of it

Lovely place to be πŸ’– My husband comes from the Mediterranean, and I from the Polish coast, we were both brought up "on the beach" that is why we often miss living close to the dunes and seawater. Fortunately, thanks to easy access to Formby Beach from Manchester, we can soothe our longings a little bit ❀️

A nice clean beach but unfortunately no facilities like places to sit and enjoy the view and no places to eat either. Just a place to stroll and lovely sunset view. The walk to the beach was over dunes and sinking sand😬

You need some energy to get over the dunes. When we arrived at 10am, it was low tide because we wanted a full beautiful day. The sea was very far , we walked to the sea. The beach was muddy at low tide. When the tide became high, the beach was more sandy. When we arrived, there were very few people. So it was very pleasant. The beach became busy in the afternoon around 2pm. Get there early and you will have a pleasant experience 😊 .

This is one of my favourite beaches near Manchester to visit. I love being surrounded by nature without buildings/cars etc ruining it. There are a couple of car parks you can use which get filled up quite quickly on a hot day, so get here early if you can! You can walk around the red squirrel and tree areas or cross the sand dunes on to the beach. Beautiful place, I will keep returning!

Extremely dog friendly beach where they could literally run for hours. The Red Squirrel Walk is the only part of the whole area where dogs are required to be on lead. The car park on Lifeboat Road has lots of spaces and even has spaces specifically for horseboxes and trailers. Parking costs Β£8.50 per vehicle for the day with it being free for National Trust members. You can also find a Snugburys ice cream truck with dog friendly ice cream here and a bunch of portaloos. The dunes are huge and more than a match for any aged adventurer.

Very lovely largely unspoilt family friendly beach. Weekdays are the quietest days to visit. Closest parking is at any of the 3 the National Trust car parks by the beach. I thoroughly had fun and enjoyed the ambience

Lovely day at the beach well worth a visit off season before it gets too busy. Not many facilities apart from one set of toilets at the car park entrance but that's ok if you don't want the hustle and bustle of a seaside resort.

Beautiful beach. Also nice to walk from the National Trust car park (free for NT members & has clean toilets) down to the beach through the wood land and sand dunes.

Fabulous day on this beautiful, clean beach. I go to any beach with a spare bag to collect rubbish that the sea throws up but there was none. This beach has the most powdery, soft, sand and the dunes were beautiful. Definitely worth a visit but not for wheelchairs or buggy wheels unless you're super strong because the wheels go right into the sand, I'd recommend putting your beach equipment on a surf board as it's so much easier pulling that along. Portable toilets at the very start of about a half mile walk to beach.

Pleasant place, I went on a cold, but sunny day and had a lovely walk. There are paths through the dunes so you can have a nice varied walk. The beach was nice a clean and there’s a coffee van and toilets on the national trust car park. There doesn’t seem to be any shops or places to eat nearby so the place list a star there.

Absolutely stunning beach, very clean, huge, sand dunes for days to get lost in and views that will be remembered forever. There were some dead Compass Jellyfish on the water line but easily spotted and there were also little hermet crabs that were amazing to watch scurry and hide :-). Many many entrances to the beach, a little planning can pick the best one for you. Does not have the seafront shops as this is a National Trust area and it definitively shows. Absolutely gorgeous.

Beautiful beach !!! Around 1 and a half hour drive from Central Manchester and arrived at this gem. Parking is priced at Β£8 (paid by card) for the whole day but is free for National Trust Members. The only toilet facilities at the beach are by the car park (portaloos) The walking trail to the beach was really nice, took about ten mins. It had raised a boarded walkway down to the beach. Lifeguards do patrol the beach, which was very reassuring. Luckily, we went on the last weekend of the summer holidays and were blessed with beautiful weather. I would advise you to be prepared, take everything with you as there are no amenities except toilets which close at 4:30 pm. So pack a picnic, towel, sunshade and plenty of drinks! Natural beautiful beach, with beautiful sand dunes, clean and highly recommended. Definitely thumbs up for a nice relaxing day at by the beach.

Such an amazing beach. Bit of a teak from the car park πŸ’·8. There's WC next to the car park which I would spend a penny before you walk to the beach. People struggled with buggies and prams as the tarmac is a short stretch on to fairy steep sand dunes up and down hill. It's worth it when you get to the top once you see the coastline panning out before you.

April 2019: We absolutely love Formby Beach. It's lovely and clean and there are loads of sand dunes to play it. Great for dogs, it's dog friendly. There is also a lovely forest, filled with red squirrels. It's a beautiful nature walk. The drive approach to Formby Beach s somewhat of a traffic nightmare though. One road in, one road out and it's always slow moving traffic. Best to park on a side road close by and walk the last 1km. Uploaded videos are from April 2019 when Archie was only 19 weeks old.

Fabulous long strip of beach with very safe swimming at high tide. It stays shallow for quite some distance. Bring your own food and drink with you, there is nowhere to buy anything on the beach as it is a national trust site.

Always a pleasure to visit this beach and woodland area. There are plenty of places to walk and a beautiful, expansive beach to view. The car park is National Trust, so free for members or Β£7.50 for non-members. The further you walk, the fewer people you see. From the beach you can see expansive off shore wind farms, cranes on the docks at Liverpool and even Blackpool Tower on a clear day.

Fantastic golden, sandy beach. Beutyfull view for sunset from dunes. Dog friendly. Should be some cheaper car park option for people who comong for few hours. If you like wide open spaces, miles of walking on beautifull beaches and exploring sand dunes it doesnt match better than this.

Was a lovely experience! The beach was clean, went on a weekday which is why there wasn’t as much people around, the sand was very hot so be prepared to wear your sandals on the sand otherwise it would slightly burn your feet, there was jellyfish around the beach after which was interesting to see. The water was beautiful and serene, you won’t be able to swim in it because it’s salt water. Only downfall is that there’s no shops around for food and drinks, it’s one of those beaches where you’d have a picnic in and just relax. I do recommend this beach, it was beautiful!

The car park is expensive if you're not a member and only cash. The long stretch of sandy beach is brilliant and sea is very good to swim in. Toilets are far and no shower facilities.

It wasn't too crowded as we went near sunset time and alot of people were making thier way back to home. The water was very muddy/sandy on the shore but it was nice experience not sure if I will go back to that beach in the future.

  • 5/5 Tatiana I. 10 months ago on Google
Plenty of space and really safe, you can pick the forest side or beach side, sand dunes can be really fun and best spot to watch the sunset. Dominos and Waitrose are 5mins by car so ideal to collect something before the final destination! 😍

  • 4/5 Darrell F. 2 years ago on Google
Beautiful stretch of quiet and peaceful beach, especially when beyond the rubble of the old army garrison where most people seem to congregate. Just head south from the beach car park or take the forest route from the national trust squirrel/asparagus paths.

  • 5/5 Steve D. 8 months ago on Google
Beautiful beach, and woodland further up. Had a lovey day out, the beach was practically empty, children ran around and picked up lots of shells and pretty pebbles. Spotted a few stranded jellyfish and crabs which we very carefully moved back into the sea, please only do this if you know how, but worth doing to save a life.

  • 5/5 Ada P. 2 years ago on Google
Really nice place, lots of sand. The tide was very low when we arrived so the beach was long. We had to walk a couple of minutes to reach the sea. Great experience.

  • 5/5 Lee B. 2 years ago on Google
This is a really good beach. In fact, I'd like to think its one of the best the north west has to offer. There are several car parks, which can fill up quickly on a nice day, and then it's a bit of a hike to the beach. But it's worth the walk. There are sand dunes, and then miles of clean sandy beach. Plenty of room for everyone. Beware though!! The sea here has been known to have a lot of jellyfish bobbing around. Enter at your peril.

Amazing beach for sunset! Parked for FREE at 7.30pm,we just went to see the sunset. Otherwise it's Β£7.50... Didn't see any toilets There was still an Ice cream van present. There is a big sand dune to go over to reach the beach,so would struggle with a pushchair. People need to pick up their rubbish!

Was surprised to arrive at such an wonderful beach here in UK β›±. A lot of sun, lot of sand, plenty of room for chill and taking pics. It is a very clean all over the place (had to take all the rubbish back in my car because there are missing the bins). Maybe too many people, but think is ok for a warm Sunday. Would definitely go back there.

Beautiful clean beach little walk through sand dunes to get there but good fun my kids loved it even my teens car parking is 7.50 for parking all day

National Trust Site and Sand Beach. Great place for an outdoor picnic on a warm day. Have cash ready if you are driving here as the network reception is bad to be able to make a card payment if you are paying for parking. Beautiful and long beach walk and Sand dunes are just beautiful. There is an ice-cream Van 🚐 if you fancy some chilled drinks after a long walk. No cafes or food available when we went there. One negative thing about the beach is that I observed some building material dumped into the ocean and it was on the shore..There were loads of red bricks and some iron metal pipes πŸ˜’

Difficult driving into the car park. In that you have to drive slowly cos it's narrow and two way traffic and people also on the road. Only for 5-10mins. Not too bad. Beach is nice and clean. Parking Β£7.50 Blue badge free

Great long soft andy beach, with lovely Dunes. You have day parking for Β£7.50 and that's it, you can pay by phone or cash. There's walks in the forest beforehand. You can see windmills in the distance as well as Blackpool which is cool. It was quite empty when we went later on in the day after work. Toilets close early Didn't see any changing rooms or food places nearby

Really lovely beach, can get crowded but plenty of areas to set up and enjoy the sand, sea and sunshine. Also is really nice of an evening, watching the sunset!

  • 5/5 Saurabh A. 1 year ago on Google
Miles of fine sand dunes and shallow sea shores are some of the striking features of Formby beach. There is ample of parking space managed by national trust (Β£7.50 for entire day, payable at machine). The place has free toilets as well as path for disabled. The beach itself is very clean and has RLNI guards for safety. Keep some food and water/fluids as there are no provisions at the beach. Horse riding, kite flying, sailing, playing on sand-dunes, basking in breeze and sunshine or simply taking a leisurely stroll in shallow waters...this beach has something for everyone... definitely recommend to travel on a bright sunny day!
