Update May 2022 This is the last time that I will be visiting this place. Booking for 12:30. When booking we were informed that we had to clear table by 14:30, which was great for us as we were going on to some other event after lunch. We arrived on time, the table was in a room which was cold. We requested for some heating and all they could come up with was a small heater which did the job after 45 minutes or so. We waited more than 30 minutes for our starters. At one stage while waiting we had someone's else food delivered at our table. After 2pm, I asked if there was a problem with our order and it arrived within 5 minutes minus items which had been ordered and later, the item was charged for on the bill. We had to rush to get to our next arrangement so didn't enjoy the food. No apology for the wait or anything. The lamb portion was small and prices have risen a lot on the menu Wine list, still limited Great service, great food and wine. In a great settings A fantastic place to celebrate coming out of lockdown. The menu is varied, food is delicious and plentiful, the wine was great, wine list is a bit limited

Fantastic place. Food is amaazing. At our visit we had the Crispy Beef Salad, and the Bacon chop. The salad is great, with the right amount of flavour. The crushed potato, that came with the chop was PERFECTLY seasoned, and was crazily good. Staff are very attentive, but not overly so. Just the right amount of interaction. Really cannot recommend it highly enough.

Goodness me, their steak and ale pie iis to die for! Best pie ever, so wonderfully cooked, packed with tender flavoursome beef. I had the cheese and onion, which was yummy but nothing compared to the other pie my husband had. Staff was nice too.

2 starters and mains. Very pricey but always has been so no shock there. Steak and ale pie huge. Fish and chips looked amazing. We shouldn't have had a starter. Only gripe was the bun for the soup and prawn cocktail was tiny. Plenty of staff waiting on which is good. 25/6 Disappointing Sunday lunch. Very tasty but luke warm. Inside of yorkie pud was freezing. Was offered to have it taken away but we'd waited 30 mins so just ate the chicken and left. Timing/waiting on issue? Sat for too long?

Every time we visit Holmes Chapel we always pre-book a couple of nights here at our absolute favourite restaurant. The food is always fantastic and no matter what we order we are always delighted with our meal! The Matradee and Staff are also great and always efficient, happy and polite, the Bar manager is brilliant and ensures the beers and spirits are well served. The dining area including the washroom facility are spotless. Can’t wait to return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to eat in The Fox and Hounds Paul and Hannah

Service was fantastic. All staff were lovely but in particular Becky was wonderful. So attentive, personable and really welcoming. Lots of chat, really helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Even our 8 year old commented on how brilliant the service was. Food was lovely but the level of service really made the meal.

I visited with me kids. I have to say they were so wonderful with the children, very welcoming from the get go. The food was lovely and the kids loved playing outside. Just at the end of our meal, our 6 year old was suddenly sick all over herself and the table and the staff could not have been kinder and more helpful. Trying to wipe down kids, including a toddler running around and one having a melt down, is not fun but the staff remained very professional and kind, thank you. I am very sorry in the rush to leave I did not tip, but wanted to say what a lovely team they had, and how well they coped under an unexpected challenge.

Excellent food with very nice home cooked touches. Some lovely decor and friendly helpful staff. Very busy Sunday evening so service expectedly slow but not uncomfortably even though we had to be somewhere, we weren't delayed to much.

We were a party of four for midweek dinner. From the moment we entered to the moment we left, the service was impeccable!! Staff were incredibly attentive and polite, the food was absolutely amazing & the ambiance relaxed and comfortable. I cannot speak highly enough of our visit, and would wholeheartedly recommend the fox and hounds to anyone looking for a top class evening!

A beautiful place and atmosphere. Food was outstanding, only gripe were I wished they had a little bit more on the menu for Vegetarian and Vegan people! Food was still wonderful. Staff were lovely and smiley, loved the live country music too.

Didn't try the food tbh honest, we were just popping in for a quick drink on our way home. The pub/restaurant was lovely. The lady behind the bar was attentive and friendly; Cleaning whenever she wasn't busy. The other young ladies working were also very pleasant. The outside has good facilities for children and appears to welcome dogs which is great for the area. Would definitely pop in again if we were on the way past

Really good, tasty food which is well preseted. Set in a relaxing pub atmosphere, staff are friendly and accommodating. The only down side is that they don't do Coke Zero or Pepsi Max on draft. The bottled ones are really expensive.

What a gem of a place this is, we finished our job earlier than expected and drove around looking for a place to eat and have a pint. I never expected to come across food like this, I was absolutely loving it. We are based in Wakefield but we will be having a drive out to this place, the food is just perfect !! Definitely in the top 10 best meals I've ever had, the pie was absolutely packed full of the best flavoursome meat, tender, lean just amazing. I'm looking forward to visiting again and the staff were excellent!!

The Fox and Hounds food and service is excellent. The menu is refreshing and not your usual generic fare. The pie is the best I've ever tasted, the pastry is amazing and the filling is exceptional, filled with meat. The staff are so well trained, and anticipate your requests. It is a welcoming and friendly pub and reasonably priced.

Lovely food and the staff were excellent. We went on Christmas eve there was a live act on. Don't get me wrong he was a good act. However, in a dining setting it could have done with being more background than a main act. We had to shout to make ourselves heard when he was on as did the staff when they took our order. Just a little less volume until serving had finished would have been great. We shall definitely be going back though as the food and service were excellent.

Wonderful pub with great food and outdoor seating. Good service - staff were super friendly and accommodating as we booked late but still managed to get a table. Really tasty meal.

Unfortunately although it seems there is a full menu and we had booked 2 weeks prior for lunch there were only sandwiches available. We were not told this at time of booking or warned via text ect before a lunch booking. The service was good but clearly the management needs to be more customer oriented as if you can't provide what people have booked for then you need to let us know in a timely fashion not after you sit down and be told the menu is not available. None of the food list below was available. I don't know if I will return I will wait to see what the response to my experience is. Also even though I am disabled we were put on the raised platform table. Overall a reasonable experience but nothing special.

Went today for the first time and absolutely loved it. Food was superb and staff were so friendly. We felt very comfortable and went home declaring that it was the best Sunday lunch we'd had for ages. Big Yorkshire pudding and edible too. Thank you.

Usually great food but this time was so dissapointing. Food was awful, chips tasted chemically and were very greasy (usually the best chips around), burger was hard and tasteless. We won't be returning in a rush.

On my return visit to Middlewich, I thought I'd try somewhere different for food. The Fox and Hounds had really good reviews on Google and was highly recommended. We were greeted by really lovely staff in a very warming, tutor style building with a hearty open fire that was lit shortly after visiting. Food appeared to be above the standard pub food you'd expect but sadly did lack in taste. The negative points mainly revolved around the Tempura Squid, where the batter was really greasy and tasted alittle sickly. Lastly, I don't believe the squid was prepped properly. It was not chewy, which was great, but the stringy part of the squid was not removed. The Pork Belly main was delicious but suspect the pork was left out quite abit as it wasn't as tender as it should of been and the fat had solidified alittle. Lastly, the Christmas Pudding was really tasty but the brandy snap was alittle soft which seemed to follow the trend of being left out too long after being cooked? If this was in an area that had more dining options I would probably not return as it the food was alittle forgettable. If I was in the area I'd return as I have noticed Middlewich does not have many dining options.

Located close to junction 18 on the M6, its a great stop when communiting. We visited for lunch on Tuesday afternoon and it was fairly busy but we were still able to get in without a reservation. Had the starters and main courses which tasted great... Would say the bruschetta was very hard so couldn't finish but the scotch egg, and steak in Guinness pie were cooked to perfection and tasted great. Service was spot on and the staff were all pleasent and helpful. The steak and Guinness pie has a message on the menu advising to allow 25 minutes which is good to manage expectations, but it was certainly worth the wait.

Nice pub I was looking forward to our meal with a party of 7 but was disappointed. I had Sunday lunch £17.95 nice but not with the high price for this. Chicken wings starter no way worth the £8.50 being charge but Hay Ho. My partner ordered the burger as did 2 others in our party I wanted them to send them back. The burger looked lost on the plate with a side of chips no salad nothing. I mentioned to the group your paying £15 for that and wanted them to return them but they said let's just eat them and leave without causing a fuss. I won't be going back in a hurry far to expensive for the quality of food but the surroundings are nice as plus for this establishment.
