Delicious food, nice service and charming atmosphere. I still remember the extraordinarily tastes although 3 weeks passed. I am so glad we took our guest from abroad to this restaurant. She praised the food as well. We took 3-course menu and it was more than enough for a dinner. We will definitely come back!

Amazing experience! The food... The food was super delicious. Prices are appropriate, not too expensive. You get what you pay for and even more. The waiters give great recommendations, explanations and are very nice and polite. We ordered local meet and cheese plates for appetizers, lamb chops and trout for main dishes, and vegan cake and souffle for the desert. Everything was delicious. Cannot wait for the next time.

This was the only restaurant in the city I actually liked. My tour guide kept telling me how great Slovene food is, and I went to a few places rated high on TripAdvisor etc and got some dishes from the famous food festival, but I was far from impressed. Gostilna na Gradu’s ingredients were the freshest I’ve tasted in Ljubljana in about a month. The dish of the day was beef cheek when I visited, and the beef was perfectly cooked, but the mushrooms and vegetables and sautéed potato actually stole the show so I ended up ordering another dish with mushrooms in it. My favorite was the sea bass though, which was a pleasant surprise since all the foods locals recommended were either pastries or meat-based. I really hope they had more vegan options that starred those roasted mushrooms they put in the beef cheek dish! And I hope the entree dishes came in a bit smaller portion sizes—half of what I actually got would have been perfect—so I can try a number of different dishes rather than labor my way through a large bowl of the same food, however good it may taste. I wonder if this means I should have explored more vegan or seafood-centered dishes during my stay here… All in all, a nice last meal in the city for sure.

We had reserved a table for several weeks but when arriving we were placed outside with no view and a loud movie disturbing the dinner. One of the waiters were very ignorant but the other one was very kind and helped to find some very good local vines. The food itself peaked with a very delicious tartare but the other dishes were kinda blend. Overall would we not expect this standard for a bib gourmand recommendation. The disappointment therefore also reflect this more rough review.

Restaurant in the castle overlooking Ljubljana. Romantic restaurant, perfect for couples. If you want light request a seat in the glass area. Otherwise, and personally I would recommend inside the restaurant within the castle walls. Excellent service, excellent wines and excellent food. Local flavours and dishes but to a very high standard.

Their service and the food in this restaurant is exceptional. I was amazed how helpful and caring they were as soon as you tell them that you have allergies and how willing they are to adjust their menu and still their food remains amazing.

If you travel to Ljubljana you must visit this Michelin star restorant. Everything was perfect. 5 course meal for 53 eur per person. Food, service and atmosphere were all phenomenal. I will come again

Slovenian specialities made with great care and skill. Nice outdoor patio in the castle courtyard. Attentive and friendly service. Take the funicular up, walk around the magnificent castle, and relax here when you've had enough of sightseeing.

We went to have lunch with my mother today (11/14/23). The restaurant was a recommendation from the tour guide who mentioned the restaurant has a Michelin star. The ambience was warm and elegant and we were directed to a table in the courtyard. The waiter, whose name is Mihal, brought the regular menu and the lunch tasting menu. Mihal brought a small snack with deer pate and a basket with 3 types of bread to be eaten with local butter with sea salt. We had the deer tartare for the entrance, and then the broccoli soup and the colliflower risotto for main courses with 2 250 ml coca-colas and a 750 ml bottle of still water. The dishes were exquisitely presented and Mihal explained every dish while serving. After lunch we had a ristretto and an espresso. This was the most sophisticated meal I had all year and probably also in the top 5 of best meals. The bill was €70, a bit expensive for lunch (€35 per person) but the service and the quality of the food made it worth it. The best thing about this meal was Mihal's service, it was impeccable. I would most definitely come back and I certainly recommend you not to miss it

We had a fantastic lunch menu for €25 (2 course meal). Every meal was masterfully presented and very flavourful. The red pepper soup and trout with buckwheat were the spotlights. Super attentive service and fantastic surroundings.

We went for lunch and they have very good offer menu. We selected 2 courses (25€). Foods were amazing, I love the warm bread basket with different choices and brown butter. I specially love the most is artic whitefish ceviche as the starter. In addition, the chef’s small complimentary was chicken liver pate with cracker were delicious as well. Service is friendly and fast.

We stumbled upon this restaurant after a sightseeing tour and decided to have lunch here. We had the 3 course menu and it was amazing. They have two vegetarian options for starters and two for mains. The food was amazing and the service too. We got some great recommendations for wine bars and sightseeing.

We tried the chef’s risotto which was specially made vegetarian for us and two of their desserts. The food was so flavourful and we wished we had tried more of their other dishes. A very well-deserved Michelin star restaurant!

An elite restaurant specialised in domestic, Slovenian cuisine is the right place for team buildings, lunch and dinner with family, friends and business associates. Plethora of finest local dishes, many with a unique touch, combined with a premium slovenian vines makes this restaurant a perfect place for every food connoisseur. Prices are quite moderate for such a fine establisment. Highly recommended!

Came here for Christmas lunch, but make sure you reserve in advance. Started with a mix of Slovenian cheeses and the cauliflower soup. Both delicious. The mains were also amazing. We tried the veal & goose and the saffron risotto with sea bream. The risotto was outstanding and the sea bream was cooked perfectly. Ended with the apple tart and white chocolate mousse. These were unfortunately a bit of a let down. The accompanying parsnip icecream and butternut squash icecream respectively did not make it for my personal taste. Overall, great experience in a nice setting.

Had a lovely five course dinner in the middle of a castles' court. Nice wines and good service. Soup course was not special, so skip that and take a 4 course meal. You will not leave hungry. Waiter was surprised with 10% tip. Well worth it though.

I have visited Gostilna na Gradu few times, and it was always an excellent experience. From delicious dishes to professional staff. Ambient from a table at the castle courtyard is stunning and romantic.

The location honestly made my evening. Sitting under the night sky with the outdoor theatre displayed in the square filled with people (although not too many) felt very cozy and comfortable. The servers were kind, and the food was top-notch! However, my reservation wasn’t noted down when we went to the restaurant, but fortunately we still managed to find a spot as it was only about 19:00 and people were just beginning to arrive. Overall, the experience was pleasant. The baked chocolate tart with rosemary ice cream as dessert offered a great finale for the dinner.

Above and beyond. While going to such places with kids makes somewhat of a lesser experience, the friendly staff and the delicious and visualy beautiful meal makes up for the 4y son that has to go to the toilet in the middle of our meal, or the 10y daughter looking suspiciously to an strange plate with red rice and flowers in it (it was a delicious risotto btw). Also not expensive.

Went there for teatime, it’s was warm We appreciate the terrasse and nice pastries: note there is a vegan season pie, my son enjoyed typical slovenian cake : Potica with chocolate

Had a very nicely cooked deer steak, one of the best pieces of meat I've ever eaten.

Nice food and very friendly staff. We are very lucky to find a table in August on Saturday at lunch time. If you are keen to eat here I would suggest booking in advance. They have high chairs for babies and they have indoor dining and an outdoor covered section. We mostly had fish courses and they all pretty good. 4 stars as the service was a bit slow (but they told us it was going to be slow as they were very busy).

Great food in taste and presentation, the flavors are amazing and balanced and everything was an amazing experience. For the type of service this place is far from expensive and worth a visit. A truly good experience!
