Restaurant

👍👍 Very fun place to get authentic Slovenian food and wine at reasonable prices. Our waiter was helpful and friendly. Food was delicious (sausage, Slovenian dish similar to ravioli, fabulous salad), very nice house wine at less than €2 per glass. Big meal for two for about €40. We’ll probably go again... People often mention good, Slovenian, restaurant, time, nice, traditional, dishes, friendly, great, recommend,

Although it is quite a famous places according to the reviews, I came across the restaurant by chance. The food was delicious and the service was one of the friendliest and the best I had in Slovenia. The waiter was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The quality/price ratio is quite good, in my opinion. I would definitely recommend the place if you want to eat some traditional Slovenian food.

If you would like to taste traditional Slovenian food in Ljubljana then Slovenska Hiša is the right place to go. Their menu includes many dishes from local cuisine, as well as some history behind them. Food quality was fantastic, it's worth its price. The service is well organized and handles everything immediately, but I recommend to book a table because it's a very popular place and usually you need to wait in line for a bit long.

Amazing food! Best value for money, nice waiters and atmosphere. The big mixed salad is good for three people, but the small one is really for one, just a little recommendation.

We had a Sunday dinner at Figovec and the experience was definitely nice, but... The service was not that polite, I would say, nothing exaggerated, but not that cheerful and a bit rude. Apart from that the food was very very good. The quality is undisputable and the quantities are great. Prices are just a bit over the average, but I think it deserves it at all.

I was a bit hesitant to come here after reading negative reviews, but I would be wrong! I liked everything about this place. Every waiter smiled and greeted us, they are super pet-friendly, the food was yummy and waiting time was short. Great place to try the local cuisine!

I had the Beef Cheeks and the Kremšnita, which were delicious. The beef was incredibly tender, it put up zero resistance. Went with 3 friends, all ordered different meals, all very happy. Would also strongly recommend the Unfiltered Union beer, had a few of these. Note: we turned up without a reservation and were lucky to get a table.

really nice restaurant where you can try some typical dishes. the location is not the best because is really near to the street but it’s very cured. the staff is nice and helpful. the menu offers traditional food. the quality is really high and the dishes were excellent. i recommend going there really early because they don’t take reservations and so if you arrive late you’ll have to wait.

Packed full on a Wednesday at 8pm, and with no reservations, we just bellied up to the bar and resigned ourself to only a drink. Dona was so friendly and kind. She selected a red wine for me and recommended a cocktail for my partner. Her positive spirit really pulled us in and we were able to be seated at a table with her support. Then came the food. Wow, comfort deliciousness. The warm bread came with garlic butter that was to die for. Followed by dumplings, cheese topped potatoes and beef cheeks. WOW! This is a do not miss experience in Ljubljana.

Very very very very good food. We asked the waitress, who was nice and friendly (looking very young for her age too😜) which wine she suggested to go with our food and she made an excellent choice ( not even the most expensive bottle 🧐). The people here have a very good sense of humour which made us really feel welcome 🙏. We are only staying for 3 days and are definitely going back for a second time because they have a wide variety of meals (and drinks).

Seriously I don’t know what the hype is about at this place. My hotel said its the best restaurant and it was fully booked when I showed up. Service was great, atmosphere great, but food was the worst meal I had in Slovenia. The mushroom žlikrofi was too salty and a little bitter. Wasn’t expecting a traditional dumpling like this. The sauce was overwhelmingly salty and too much in proportion to the dumplings. While I was there, they turned away a bunch of customers due to no reservation on a Sunday night. There’s bar seating with about 6 seats. Should have suggested that to the walk-in customers. When paying the bill, the bartender asked how was my food (first time he checked) and I told him the truth, he said that I should have said something and they could have changed it. Well, it’s my first time in Slovenia and don’t know their customs, may be this could have helped (hence 3 stars instead of 2) but still don’t serve a dish like this. The saving grace was the cab sauv wine. May be others will have more luck with their other dishes.

I decided to try this particular restaurant as a recommendation from the staff in the hotel I was staying at. It was definitely a good recommendation; the food was nice and the staff very friendly. The restaurant itself was cosy and a lot of space inside. I tried out some different plates and all of them had something special. If you are looking into trying some nice Slovenian food, that’s the place.

Plenty of tables outside. We enjoyed the last rays of sun meanwhile had our dinner. Food was great, many typical slovenian dishes. Prices are also good.

Food passable, poor service. Locals are not required to show Corona pass; foreigners are (which I have, fully vaccinated, no prob). Dry sausage, dry pudding, dry wine —that at least was good!

Just perfect! I was really in a hurry and the service was incredibly fast. I told the waiter when arriving, I was quite worried about it but really not disappointed ! The waiter was very friendly and also gave me great recommendations for drinks and food. I also had a tasty garlic butter with the bread ☺️. I got all the food and drinks in like 15 minutes I was so happy, I could really take the time to appreciate the food. I strongly recommend!

Great Slovenian food. We loved every bit of it. We didn't have a reservation, but they were able to accommodate us. The goulash alone was worth the trip to this establishment.

Nice place close to the city center. Reservations are recommended, otherwise you may have to wait a little to get a table, the place is often crowded during holidays and weekends. The staff is very friendly and the service is fast! Tasty local food and nice portions. Prices are in line with the city center's average.

The experience for me here was awesome. It is laid back kinda place, nothing too fancy but clean, welcoming and designed with style. A place to get a proper and original meal for a fair price. The service was excellent as there were 8 of us and we all received our meals and drinks very fast. The staff managed to remember who ordered what, it was honestly an overall great experience. I tried fried pork with melted cheese and potato with “čvarci”, it was divine

Friendly and helpful staff. Lots of locals coming in and out and a constant long queue so I guess the food must be pretty the good. Ordered the fried pork with goat cheese sauce. A bit dry. But the dessert (pancake with apple) was pretty good. Not too sweet. The atmosphere is really good. Definitely will come back again next time.

Nice Restaurant with tasty traditional Slovenian cuisine. Unfortunately, we had to wait 30 minutes on a table because the restaurant was completely full. In the meantime, I recommend drinking a freshly tapped beer at the bar or outdoors 😉🍺

An "okay" dinner at this traditional Slovenian restaurant. We were recommended this by our tour guide, a local Slovenian who mentioned this place is very popular amongst tourists and locals. Unfortunately it didn't hit the mark for us with the food coming out warm and not piping hot. We found the food quite dry, lacking sauce in the potato dumplings but in particular, very disappointed with the goulash. There was very little "soup" that it may as well had not been on the soup section of the menu. We ended up taking this away and donating to the homeless along with some bread. Service was okay - we were sat on a large table, shared with another couple as we didn't have a booking, however there were more than enough spare tables and seats to have had our own table with no groups or very little diners coming into the restaurant as we ate. Portion sizes are large but for the price we paid, it may be best to find another place

If you wanna try real authentic Sylvanian food, then definitely you have to visit this Slovenia house restaurant prices just normal quality is very high. Quantity is very big portion. If you take one dish for two person that is enough and staff is very helpful they give you suggestion about local food. Also, they have a lot of vegetarian option for vegan people this restaurant suggestion by my hostel in the downtown. Very easy to reach and it’s very famous. You can ask anyone they will guide you try to come in odd time because if you are coming proper lunchtime or dinner time, then you have to wait long time because this is very overbooked restaurant. Mostly table reserved try to come in advanc reservations

The servers were a bit frenzied as there were lots of customers. No worries for us though as we were wanting a leisure dining experience. We had the fried chicken, the goulash and a salad and were satisfied though not overwhelmed. The traditional layer cake desert was the highlight of our meal.

Large restaurant with plenty of space inside and seating outside too. The decor is modern and cosy. The food is a good representation of Slovenian food, and I’d recommend coming here if you want to try what Slovenian food is all about. Our server was also really kind

I had a lovely time having dinner at this restaurant. All dishes that I tried here were just absolutely amazing, especially StrukIji. The price-quality ratio is excellent, so the tables are generally reserved three days in advance, consider this when booking. Service time is usually average due to the fullness of the establishment. The waiters are people at all and can’t handle everybody at one time, but they were polite and friendly enough. If you’re searching for where to taste traditional Slovenian cuisine this restaurant is one of the best.

The dumplings with veal sauce were delicious. The sauce was tasty and meat very tender. However, there was no root vegetable in the dish as stated in the menu. The dough was thicker than I expected. The homemade bread was very good, too. The pumpkin butter served with the bread was an absolute delight! The gentleman who served me was friendly. I would like to come back to try other dishes when I visit Ljubljana next time.

I am Slovenian living abroad, and every time I come back to Ljubljana I go to Slovenska Hisa for a meal. It’s just great, the dishes are fresh and super tasty, not to mention authentic! They also have dishes from all the regions of Slovenia, so you can try a bit of everything. We had Slovenian pasta with truffles and beef steak, and it was great! The potatoes are amazing, with bits of rendered pig fats on top (don’t know the official translation lol, but it’s perfect with these potatoes)! Top notch place, always makes me feel like home! 🥹

Although looking good, the chicken was totally lacking in seasoning, just a meat fried in oil. The waiter seemed to be in a bad mood and was unwilling to explain the dishes or suggest anything. There are certainly better, less touristy restaurants in Ljubljana.

The place was a recommendation by the hotel manager! Slovenian food , and advised to have a reservation in advance ! Very tasty food, kind personnel while they are quite busy ! Must try the Slovenian cheese with garlic sauce on top and the desserts

Really good food, tasty and with that homemade feeling. Portions are relatively large, big enough to fill even the hungriest patron, but not too big to waste much food. Two leaner persons can easily share one portion.

Very nice traditional Slovenian restaurant with great location in Ljubljana city centre. Recommend to try some of the traditional dishes which are hard to find elsewhere, ideally accompanied by a local beverage. Despite the traditional focus it's not a typical tourist place, good mix of locals and visitors. Service is also good and overall atmosphere nice.
