If you visit Ljubljana between spring, summer and fall, You have to visit the ODPRTA KUHNA/OPEN KITCHEN on fridays, if is good weather. I'll ne honest, I have visit odprta kuhna since 2014, a lot of restaurants have change, the portions got smaller and the prices higher with the years, that's also the reason I give only 3*, but also some restaurants serve bad food and it doesn't smell good there. Still If you visit this place, you can get some delicious food for a fair price with fair portion, also a lot of different cold drinks. I can only recommend this place to visit and make your own experience 😉

Open-air kitchen with a great selection of fresh food prepared by chefs from the best Slovenian restaurants. Every Friday, from brunch till late. Craft beer and a good selection of excellent Slovenian wine. Variety of food from traditional Slovenian fare to modern Slovenian and international cuisine. Majmun Swords rule!

Great and a bit pricy food. It gets really crowded almost every time.

I really like the overall vibe of the whole happening, it has a special charm and I enjoy visiting it every once in a while. The thing that bothered me the most is the quality of place that used to be my favorite station on Odprta Kuhna a few years now - ALTROKE. I have been returning and eating the same portion of mussels every time for 3-4 years. The fact that they lowered the quality so much and they increased the prices is unacceptable. You used to get everything you needed - 1 - bread (now you get just a tiny little piece of baguette), 2 - another plate for the garbage (that is obviously needed, since there is no place for everything in that tiny plate that you have), 3 - a wet wipe for your hands that is always needed when eating seafood with your hands. There was absolutely no sauce, which made the whole portion tasteless and dry. The most of the shells were empty and I was completely disappointed. I am not planning on eating at their stand anytime soon, since I can get a better value for my money. The photos are from last year, when the portions were satisfactory. I would gladly advise you to try something else, and avoid Altroke.

Lovely way to spend a friday afternoon! Lots of diverse food, prices vary depending on the stand (10€ for ribs). Great atmosphere with music and people enjoying their fridays.

Absolutely AWESOME outdoor prepared food market. Culinary options from all over the world. Had a blast picking up bites from multiple vendors and soaking in the jovial atmosphere! Beef on a sword and pork cut with an axe in a city protected by a dragon - what more could one want?!!

Dont miss this! This food market was by far the biggest highlight of our stay. The open kitchen part is only there on Friday's so book mark it. Basically, it's food heaven with rows and rows of food stands serving all sorts of street food. But it is anything but ordinary street food. You can find every style of cooking from Thai food, Indian, French, Mediterranean, seafood ...etc. there were big woks of mussels steaming in garlic white wine and herbs and even tons of vegan and vegetarian stalls. All the food is inexpensive expensive. I had a vegan pad thai, spring rolls and a glass of wine for a total of €9. We would have eaten here every day if we could have.

Absolutely good choice if you are for food, drink, company. Located in the center of Ljubljana (walking zone), next to the market and Triple bridge.

It was really crowded when we went, making it a pretty lively and interesting experience. There are many different stalls to choose from, and we settled on a few choices. Food was all good and wine was cheap. We had a burger, some roast pork and some type of cheese dumpling in a meat sauce. Everything smelt so good, it was hard to choose.

The highlight of the summer in Ljubljana is when the Open Kitchen starts! Every year it keeps getting better and better with more exciting food stalls to try and nice additional events like the Pivo and Burger fest! A very good reason to go out every Friday night, but it is open also for lunch ;)

What an amazing experience in being able to get so many types of food in one small place! Every Friday in good weather during the year, many vendors dispense some great foodie-worthy treats. I love the Indian food and the barbecue. The mediterranean dishes were great too!

What a great discovery this was on a beautiful sunny day in Ljubljana. There are loads of the local restaurants that have stalls in the square and sell their favourite dishes at a discount in most cases. There was a fantastic craft beer stand. The other thing that was very refreshing is that some of the stalls served wine with the food & provided really nice glasses that you could take away with your food & they just trusted that you brought them back. Great find. It is only on Friday's & in the summer when the weather is good!
