Overrated restaurant. Our order was incorrect, staf never came to ask how everything was or bothered to provide any service expected from this type of place. Didn’t explain at all what we were served either. Ordered edamame to start but we have been served a lot better for less money. Tuna was a bit too far and not fresh enough to serve. Wine contained a lot of sediment, waitress didn’t mind and poured the last bit of the bottle without mentioning. Toilet didn’t contain any paper anymore. We were at any point not asked how the experience was. A waists of an evening that we came here as far as I am concerned. What a shame.

Some really good sushi and tempura shrimps were amazing while miso soup wasn’t that special. Another good thing it’s made like a bar so you can see chefs preparing it.

This was a delightful experience. We honestly travel around Europe looking for good sushi (having eaten sushi in Japan and California) and this place certainly measures up. The waiter was nice and very helpful, the fish we ate was wonderful and the desserts were amazing. We will be back.

Fantastic restaurant with a small and precise selection of Japanese dishes. The service is as professional as you would expect from a top class restaurant. Love it.

Good sushi, but the tempura is the star of the show here. The tempura prawns and veggies were a real delight. Dishes are a little on the pricey side, but that's to be expected for any sushi restaurant. The only dish that didn't quite hit the mark was the teriyaki chicken with mango. In Japan, teriyaki chicken is typically served on rice with a little extra teriyaki sauce to give the rice some flavour. The teriyaki chicken in Sushimama is quite dry with very little sauce. It was more like eating a bowl of boiled rice with grilled chicken and felt overpriced at eighteen EUROS. Staff were very friendly and helpful. It gets busy so either book ahead or arrive late (kitchen is open until 10pm.

For me not the best. The people who worked there are very kind, but I have had much better sushi. The edamame was not fresh, the beans where sometimes even sour and hard. I've got the shou set, which are 5 nigiri and 6 maki, chosen by the chef. It would be better if you had some saying in it, because now some were absolutely not to my taste (never had that before with sushi). I also ordered an inside out roll, with shrimp. I asked if the shrimp would be fried and crispy, they said it would be, but it wasn't unfortunately.

The food here was excellent. Tuna sashimi highly recommended. We also had edamame, Udon, and the mixed sashimi plate. Only downfall was really how long we waited for food. It was tempting to vote 3 stars due to this. But the quality was just excellent. Kudos to our friendly waiter who recommended some really nice wines and whiskey to go with our food.

I have been in Sushimama many times and i will also come back many times. Because it’s just amazing. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Ljubljana because of delicious food and good, friendly service.

This place is fantastic, I came with my family and we enjoyed the food and the service. Our hostess miss Petra was very helpful, her recommendations were perfect for us.

We went there with much expectations after having read so many good reviews and some internet articles about the owner. Sushi rice was not properly seasoned and way too dry, the quality of fish was not even close to fresh, just simply disappointed. We would not recommend this restaurant. They even charged us for a bottle of water which we didn’t even order.

NOT WORTH THE MONEY. Horrible experience! I ordered a salmon bowl for lunch, but really the menu should say 95 % bad rice and 5% random leftovers (price 11 euros ?!?!!). The salmon was ground into some strange tasteless mixture, they didn't even bother to remove the extremely sharp bones. The vegetable part consisted of a few pieces of mushrooms, a sample of sprouts and 5 grains of edemame beans. Yes, you read that right, 5 beans. I didn't know whether to cry or laugh. Whoever put this bowl together can be ashamed, and especially so can a fancy restaurant, to put this on their menu. What you see in the picture is what you actually get. And no amount of soy sauce can make this fiasco of a dish tasty. If google would allow it I would rate this a -5.

The key experience was the food. I really liked the udon noodles soup. The dessert was interesting. The main course - sushi, of course, was very good too. I liked the service and the chefs - being able to see them prepare food. What I'd like to see is a bit more space inside. Felt a bit crammed. And also a bit too dark for sure. I disliked the toilets - unpleasant smell, small and the worst part: soap was missing. But all in all - I was there for food and that was done well. I will visit again.

Me and my girlfriend always love to come here for special occasions. Great food, and the greatest staff you could wish for. Lately, we have been served by a guy named Gašper. He is a super knowledgeable and a very friendly person. Cannot recommend enough.

Really nice sushi (rice and fish are amazing) Bowl of rice had a little amount of toppings and at the end you only have rice. The taste was very good. I ordered the spicy tuna one. And the dessert I have to say that the one that has sesame (I think the name was Geisha) is AMAZING! But come on... It's very small and expensive and the shape of the dish doesn't allow you to finish it with the spoon. I had to continue con my fingers 😂😂🫣 Without any doubt it's a really nice experience, they have the sushimen preparing the products in front of you

A wonderful surprise. Real Japanese restaurant in the heart of Lubiana. The best toro (fatty tuna) I had eat out of Japan.
