My wife and I had a delightful experience at Špajza restaurant in the heart of Ljubljana. From the moment we arrived, the waiters impressed us with their exceptional politeness and friendliness. We noticed a diverse mix of customers, many from different countries, which added to the welcoming ambiance. The atmosphere, especially outside, was truly wonderful. We had a fantastic time and are already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommended!

This upscale little spot in Ljubljana was a great choice. Steaks were delicious as was the wine and schnapps. The servers were wonderful to chat with. I would definitely come back to this spot next time I visit.

What a nice and authentic restaurant located in the most beautiful part of old town Ljubljana. Everthing was spot on... from service to food. A little bit pricey but is worth every penny. They also have beautiful and romantic garden. Highly recommend.

One of the best places to eat meat and drink a local wine. We had a unique experience tasting great dishes and very tasty wine. The staff was really friendly and very helpful. The vibe of this place is unique! Very cozy and almost hidden in the center of the old town of Ljubljana. I would definitely recommend this place.

An excellent steakhouse in the centre of Ljubljana. They have a decent selection of choice cuts, if you feel like eating a steak, as well as some delicious prepared meals. They also offer an array of different wines and beer to go with the food. The service is fast and friendly, and they speak fluent English, in case your Slovenian isn't that great.

Cosy Slovenian restaurant in the center of Ljubljana. The menu is designed around local foods and has many different options for meat, fish, and game, all complemented by local wines. Food quality is of a high standard that you would expect at a fine dining establishment. The food is prepared perfectly and most portions are generous. The wine selection is extensive with reasonably priced Slovenian wines. The atmosphere is distinctive and cosy and the service is attentive, friendly and polite. The staff are very knowledgeable about both the food and the wines. The prices are equivalent or less than those in the main section of Ljubljana’s old town but much lower than the European average for a good restaurant. Fully recommended!

Went here for a celebration dinner. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The wine selection is mostly Slovenian, as is the food. We had the beef tartar, horse, and steak. It was all made to perfection. Could not have been more pleased with the space and the overall atmosphere.

Nice homey restaurant. All food very good, they know how to make a good steak as well. Bit the star of the show was marinated Tuna carppaccio. It is a must try!

One of the best steak restaurants I have been. Gorgeous food, very friendly staff with helpful tips. I recommend this place. We have been in the Sorbara stakehouse part of the restaurant (Sorbara stakehouse and Špajza owner is the same and in 2020 they have moved under the same roof).

A lovely restaurant in the centre of Ljubljana. Making reservations is recommended. The meat there is very good, with several local dishes. Service was lovely, the waiter was always available for extra explanation. It has a beautiful terrace behind the restaurant, if possible ask to be seated there. Highly recommended!

The food was good, service was amazing. Cold starters were really good. But I can’t get past the fact that three medium-rare ordered steaks were all medium-welldone. This should not happen in a steak house (even if they offered a complimentary desert for all three guests for their mistake).

Amazing food, wonderful atmosphere. Service was fantastic. Tuna tartar was super fresh and tasty, similar to poke in Hawaii. The steak (ribeye) was the best I’ve had outside of the United States. I hesitated at first because it’s hard to beat the US in steak but this is at the top of my list. Very similar to del friscos. Very simply salt and pepper, which I prefer. Scallops were prepared a little different in that it’s Mediterranean style but very good, just different. Not your standard scallop by itself, it’s covered in cheese. The truffle mashed potatoes were hands down one of the best I’ve had. Not too much truffle (ie not overpowering) with a nice balance of butter and herbs. I’d eat those all day long if I could… Our waiter was on his game, very friendly, super knowledgeable, easy to chat with, and attentive.

I had a lunch here. The pasta with truffles was great - spot on. I also ordered a rabbit wrapped in bacon with capers and tomato sauce. It was very delicious - expertly seasoned with hints of fresh basil and thyme. It was cooked very well - often rabbit dishes are over cooked and come out dry. This time it was just right. The sauce was outstanding. I did not care much for the green peas purée it came with - it was too heavy for the dish. For a desert I had an apple strudel with apricots. It was a disappointment - perhaps it was reheated in a microwave oven right before serving. It was soggy and tasted like canned apple pie filling. The olive oil the serve is outstanding. The service was very good. I would come here again to try other dishes on the menu. I would stay away from the strudel though. One thing that was unusual for Slovenia was that they were asking for a tip. Also they offer to pay in euro or dollars ( I have a US card ). Paying in dollars and accepting the processing bank rate in such cases is usually a rip off ( it has nothing to do with the restaurant) so be aware

We have had two great evenings out here recently. The restaurant is a great mix of small rooms, so even if it’s full you can have an intimate meal. The mushroom soup was fantastic and the raspberry tart divine. But what bought us back was the steaks and mains. The beef cheeks was delicious if a little large for my partner and the tenderloin perfect fur both of us. Book this place without hesitation.

This is the place for you to have a good time! Since they were completely booked, my friends and I went there to see if we can do walk-in. The staff were very friendly and I feel like they really wanted to help us get a table. We came back around 9:30. And the food was spot on. Our waiter gave us some shots before we ordered, and that make the experience wonderful:) if u wanna try horse fillet in Slovenia, you should try it here! Btw, they also got great prosseco.

Incredible restaurant! The food was delicious and the Slovenian wine really good. The staff was fantastic, our waiter Janko made our visit an unforgettable experience. Definitely come here for a great, authentic and very reasonable priced food experience! (We payed €200 for 3 people, starters, mains, desserts and 2 bottles of wine and some other drinks)

Great atmosphere, music and food! We made a reservation because of the great reviews online and it was worth it. Delicious wines and meats. Ate horse for the first time and it didn’t disappoint.

A very good steakhouse. The service was excellent and the quality of the meat does not disappoint. I particularly liked the cold cut meats to start.

After a week of tasting around Trieste area in some well recommended restaurants, finally cam to Ljubljana to find out this one beats them all. Lovely location, professional and friendly service and food over the top, from entry scallops thorough perfect lamb chops in herbs crust and port wine sauce to an absolute perfection apple strudel. Can't recommend this place enough.

A must have experience. Nice backyard , great selection of Slovenian wines and unbeatable food experience. NB: they don't list grilled octopus anymore, but the waiter was so kind that he asked the chef to cook it (and it was simply excellent). A real jewel, please stop by.

Visited this evening and I could not recommend this restaurant more. Food was absolutely delicious, we had the scallops and fillet steak, both were fantastic. The wine recommended by the waiter was excellent and the service was the best we have experienced and the extra touches by the waiter were amazing (didn’t catch his name but he had an excellent beard) Will return when we are in Slovenia and will recommend this restaurant to family and friends!

Came here in 2018 and it was so good we had to come back and it didn't disappoint. Had the Tomahawk to share, absolutely delicious. The staff made it all the better. Don't miss this restaurant if you're in Ljubljana

One of best steak i ever try. We try the T-bone and the Bison USA Ribeye, both delicious. They change the location but the food is always great.

I'm a huge fan of Steak tartare and I must have tried almost all that are available in Ljubljana, but the one in Sorbara has a special place in my heart. In combination with great whisky selection, awesome service is the place you should definitely pay a visit.

Very good steakhouse. We had beef cheeks, ribeye steak and bison steak. Everything was very tasty. Will return to this place for the food.

All you could want from your steak restaurant; good food, good wine and good service (you still need to bring your own good company). The recommendations from the waiter were great, both for the food and the wine, so no need to even open the menu. The steaks were cooked to perfection.
