Nice location inside park Tivoli, kind staff, good food

Really nice spot to go and have breakfast! It’s a hotel too and situated in the big park of Ljubljana. Large breakfast for a good price. Good quality, friendly and good service. And it’s a nice walk from and to the city. They have an outside area too, at the bistro where we were and other area’s too.

Amazing restaurant with big history from 1889. Very delicious meat.

The restaurant is located in a beautiful place in nature with a hiking trail right beside it. The food was exquisite and very delicious. We had the classic “cevapi” and “prebranac” and both were very delicious. If it is your first time in Slovenia or in this part of Europe - definitely recommend going.

Good food and fast service. Diverse options for sitting: inside, outside bistro. Bistro cakes could be a bit better :) Restaurant can be very busy on weekends so reservations are recommended.

Čad gostilna is located in nature, but still close to the center. The food is excellent. Suitable for closed companies. I recommend.

Came for a brunch but unfortunately only tables on the terrace with no shade whatsoever were available. As we had two dogs with us we were denied to sit in an open air bistro part, although mainly empty. Safe to say we won’t return, although it looks like a nice place to grab a coffee.

The food is reasonable, the price is good, but the service is incredibly bad and even hostile. The place is mostly frequented by locals and the fact that we don't speak Slovenian seemed like an offense to them. The waiter was inexplicably unfriendly to us at all times, as if he just didn’t want us to be there, even though we tried our best to be friendly and cordial.

It has a nice, authentic, retro vibe. The service was unmistakable. The location is also nice, on a hill with fresh air. The food was great too. They have a nice garden and it is a nice place to eat or talk in private. The only reason I’m giving 4/5 is because I prefer modern restaurants over retro ones.

After 2 years of a certain person saying "we must go here " I booked the table for 2 well in advance. We arrived on time and were escorted to our emergency collapsible table with a single chair! It didn't really get any better. The service was poor ( no tip ) and the food adequate. Maybe I caught them on a bad day.

Loved the grilled meat plate (Plošča Čad) and wine pairing for 29€. Service is very good as well.

Čad bistro has got nothing of the famous Čad. I was rather disappointed when attending a bithday celebration there. Don't get me wrong, the food itasted very good, but just regular burgers, pizzas, salads, ribs and stakes as seen also elsewhere.

We had a very nice lunch here. Our hosts had been to this restaurant many times. They ordered a range of local foods for us to sample. Everything was so delicious. I loved the different meat dishes.

I got served dry deer that was made 3 days ago. Service started rough, improved after, but overall, we just waited to finish and get out. A shame, it used to be a great place and now it seems like an old shell of what it used to be.

There are three establishments in one: • Hotel Cad (a small boutique style hotel with modern interior and stylish rooms), • The Bistro - set inside Hotel Cad. An informal, bright area serving everything from breakfast, sandwiches, burgers to evening meals. It is licensed and well stocked. Would be fine for just a coffee too and had a woodburner. • Gostilna Cad - (or Cad, or Cad Restaurant). This is a restaurant in a separate building located just to the rear of the hotel. It serves a huge range of traditional Slovenian and Balkan dishes, including grilled/ barbecued meats and sausages. It has an older and more traditional feel, not surprising due to its long history. Why would you go? Massive portions of well cooked traditional food, served by polite staff. Don't forget to order your vegetables and try the local flat bread. A side order of vegetables would easily be sufficient for three people.

While the food at this restaurant was good, I wouldn't say it was exceptional. The dishes were tasty and well-prepared, but didn't quite have that wow factor that I've experienced at other restaurants. However, what really brought the experience down for me was the poor and rude service. Our server seemed disinterested and unengaged throughout our meal, and didn't bother to check on us or refill our drinks unless we specifically asked. It's a shame, because with better service, this restaurant could easily earn a higher rating. But as it stands, I have to give it a 3-star review.

I’ll write this while my belly is full of delicious food. We called around 5:30pm on a Sunday to make a reservation for 7:30pm. It worked out perfectly. Our server was not a man of many words, but kind and attentive. We appreciated his professionalism and relaxed presence. We would’ve come earlier to enjoy a hike and an apertivo at the bistro after said hike. (Next time). It’s beautiful grounds could keep you and your family busy for hours. The food. Perfectly grilled pork medallions, garlic butter stuffed mushrooms, grilled chicken, crispy pork schnitzel, grilled vegetables, sauerkraut salad, and fluffy wood fired bread with perfectly salty butter. You can not go wrong with this place. I’m convinced nothing is bad here. I will be back to try more. Enjoy!

The serene environment provided a peaceful backdrop. Despite the restaurant's spacious layout, service was slightly leisurely yet still effective.

Gostilna Čad in Ljubljana offers great food and a pleasant ambiance, thanks to its shaded garden. The cuisine is excellent, with a diverse menu catering to different tastes. However, the service could have been more interested. Overall, it's a worthwhile dining experience with delicious food and a charming setting.

Food good, service mediocre. "Old-school" waiters are now just old. Schooling has been forgotten long ago. No follow-up questions, lack of kindness and just overall very "clinical" attitude. Also, the terrace has been closed in mid April, despite the nice weather, so the only table we could get to have a dog next to us was the one next to the entrance. Again, good food, but management could really pay better attention to the waiting staff service.

The service was terrible. Not a word, not a smile. The waiter was annoyed by our presence. Not a “thank you” or a “good bye” at the end. It was fully disrespectful. For the food, it was copious and good even if I didn’t receive the desert that I ordered (what a super waiter…).

This is a restaurant complex at a prime location. The buildings and the outside seating areas are superb. Food is traditional Serbian cuisine. Huge portions and pretty good but nothing spectacular. The behavior of the staff makes the experience a lot less pleasant than it could be. It feels like they are doing a favor when they serve people and they are not shy to reinforce this feeling with words.

The staff is a bit cocky. The prices are too high for what they offer. The food is good, but not that good. The dining area is crammed and usually full of people talking, so you can’t even hear yourself speaking. I would not come here again.

We've got a table on a Sunday night, even though the restaurant was still fairly packed at 9 o'clock. Service was quick and attentative and nothing to complain about at all. Cold beer and hot meals were delivered quickly. The food was great and the portions were more than enough - 2 main dishes, fries and vegetables were enough for the two of us.

Honestly one of the best restaurants in ljubljana. Food is absolutely amzing and they serve many different dishes. Grilled food is especially good here. The place is usually very busy. I would suggest making a reservation. Parking is also right besides the restaurant. I recommend trying out this place when you are in ljubljana.

We stumbled across this place whilst walking through the park, a nice mounted policeman directed us to this restaurant. They have a huge garden which was 3/4 full when we arrived at 13.00 on a Wednesday lunchtime. By 2pm it was full and people were queuing outside. Ambiance was nice. Service was good. Food was great and the portions huge. Very reasonably priced. Definitely a locals place, I think we might have been the only tourists there?

Very average place where they can fit a thousand people... A very massive place indeed. Really a lot of tables. Not for people who like peace or are mindful of social distancing. On the other hand, they have steady quality and you can be sure that you will get mostly the same quality grill every time. They were THE place for grill back in the days but today there is a lot of competition and better places to go to.

Very old traditional restaurant in Ljubljana, especially with balkan’s classics! The Čevapčiči and pleskavica are amazing! Service is quick and always with smile! In the summer time, you can take your spot in the great garden infront of the Čad restaurant! Prices are reasonable!

Čad is such a great place to try Serbian food. It is a really restaurant place, so you should consider booking in advance if you are coming on popular time like weekends lunch time or evenings. Even if not, place has so many tables, you will probably get one for 2 or 4 person only after 10-15 minutes of waiting. It is crowded but you will be served - there are lots of waiters. Interesting thing is that all the waiters are not young - you fill like they really know what and how to do and doing everything fast. Since there are always lots of people, place can be a bit noisy. Coming to food, it is really great. In order not to miss something, you can try to start the first time with "plate for 2" which is a set of different meat types. Do not think, it won't be enough even without side dishes. Prices are really low as for such place and service. Čad is a great choice for meat

Very nice traditional setting. The food was ok. The chicken soup with meat was great but the rest was mediocre. The fameous garden still wasn't open. Nice lavatory with baby changing station!
