This museum is divided in three parts, one will lead you through the whole history of the city and region, one part is the Roman walls and remains underground, and one is a temporary exhibition. I savoured all of it and it took me three hours. The exhibition is thought through, creative, interactive and one of the best museum experiences I've had so far. Good job to the team behind the museum.

A great place to start museum that won't take you whole day, but give you that presenting our past kick off in bare hour. There is more, it is modern place, super kids friendly, as refreshing in way objects are presented. There are global show off pieces as one of our oldest wheel and visel. I do recommend visiting this museum, you will get good idea where you are :) it's simple storytelling and tiny Palace have all there is needed to get exellency while visiting museum. Feel welcome!

This is a museum of the highest quality. Something for kids, adults, all presented in an engaging but informative way. Cafe under it is good too. And until 9/2019 the exhibition on Russian iconography is stunning. Recommended, not just for rainy days but as a stop to see.

Small, but very interesting collection of artifacts. Also hosts events and conferences.

Cool little museum. They do a student discounted ticket if you have student ID. Optional lockers for bags. Great exhibition on the history of Slovenia which was well explained in multiple languages and perfect sized so it didn't overload with too much reading. Cool coffee place within the museum too. I was there about 1.5 hours and saw everything on offer.

One of the best museum experiences in Ljubljana. Combine this w/ Stow coffee and you're good for a good part of the quality day. Even as a local I managed to learn a bunch of new things.

Located in heart of old Ljubljana town nice museum to visit

Highly recommend for families with kids. The permanent exhibition provides lots of interactive and amusing stuff for children. There are also many interesting facts for older ones. Also, you may any time take a pause for coffee and tasty cake. Just ideal!

A wonderful museum which I rate higher than the castle, particularly if you want to learn about the development of Ljubljana. Not overloaded with too much information. Allow an hour and a half at least.

My favourite museum in the city 💜 Such nice atmosphere and architecture. You also learn a lot about Ljubljana and you see the city through a completely new light, with muc more depth and meaning. Definitely worth a visit! So inspiring. P.S. I loved the Plečnik guided tour at 18.30 on the Museum Night, the guide was so lovely.

A small museum on the second floor, with about 5 rooms of thoughtfully curated exhibits of the history of Ljubljana. The most fascinating, for me, from a historical perspective, is the discovery of the world's oldest wooden wheel. All exhibits have English descriptions, some videos and some fun interactive ones.

I came on the Ljubljana card so it was free. An excellent trip through the history of the city through pre-Roman, Roman, middle Ages, Austrian domination, Napoleonic times and Yugoslavia. Well-explained, amazing artefacts and multimedia experience.

I heard the city museum is wonderful and a must if you have some extra time in the city. But the first time we found ourselves in the building was for Stow, and we've been going back there ever since for Stow. Unfortunately, I haven't yet been to the actual museum. I will right this wrong the next time I visit lovely Ljubljana.

Gotta say that it was really educational and nicely presented. Much information that I didn't know and was fascinated by it.

Enjoyed this interesting and diverse exhibit - especially because I didn't know much about Slovenia before.

A good museum which takes you through Ljubliana’s history from iron age to today in 1-1,5 hrs

Well worth a visit! A well laid out and thoughtful museum explaining the rich history of Ljubljana with some INCREDIBLE artifacts. Will have to come back again soon to be able to fully absorb all there is to see and experience.

Nice museum and affordable entry - 8 per adult for full access. The highlight for me was the permanent exhibition which follows Slovenia history from 40k BC to the present, touching on major events every few centuries along the way. Good blend of reading materials (with English translations) and artifacts

Amazing little museum with good history, timeline and roots of Ljubljana. Nice coffee shop in the bottom. And a featured exhibit on the upper level. Very worthwhile and appreciated. Also the person working at the entrance of the museum was so helpful and kind!
