Interesting art gallery though a little impenetrable for non-native Slovenians. Some english descriptions but hard to read. A lot of art seemingly thrown on the walls in a random manner. That doesn't necessarily detract from individual works of art but it is a difficult to understand the various stories the gallery is trying to tell. The book shop is buried at the back and lacks any spark. More tired books waiting for someone to chance a purchase. Best and busiest part of the gallery is the cafe, either sitting in the basement or outside the front entrance.

Really cool coffee shop in the basement and good place to read, sketch or do some work. Free cloakroom for bags to be left. It was only €2.50 for a student ticket or €5 for an adult which is great value. Good exhibition. The entrance was a bit confusing because it's the big old doors at the steps, I just hadn't seen anyone go in or out and there wasn't any signage to say entrance.

I really liked this place, which I cannot say for many other leading modern galleries. I found much of the work accessible, and just as much of art from the 20th century onward mixed up the materials, the collection here is not all paint and drawings. €5 gets you in, and the main exhibition space is on one level. Not far from the National Gallery, and I found it a perfect contrast to the more traditional artwork there. Interesting café too (see attached images!)

The museum, located near parliament in the city center, was smaller than I thought. For only 5 eur you visit the permanent exhibition and temporary one, all on one floor. Small bookshop and cafe on site. Can take pictures. I went through everything in a out 40 minutes. Mostly Slovenian artists.

Advice for families: if you as a parent doesn’t feel confident to guide your family through modern art, professional guide is perfect solution. We had wonderful guide just for our family of four, Janja Zupančič, who presented masterpieces interestingly for our children (10 and 12 years) and for parents. She kept our ful attention with questions and small tasks for whole hour and explained modern art and its charms that we would never reveal on our own. We had also possibility to ask questions. The price for such experience is very modest-20 eur for a family. In the end, you should not miss lovely ambient of coffee shop where you can enjoy delicious coffee or tea, bananabread, cheesecake, brownie etc. Do not forget to book the guide at least 3-5 working days in advance.

Amazing gallery with a wide range of works in different mediums. Refreshingly interactive and a beautifully curated experience. Certainly better than the National gallery. Worth every penny. One of the best galleries I've visited. Has a nice cafe in the basement.

Staff is friendly, you can get a paper guide that will explain each section of the exhibition and give you a deeper understanding of the chronology of it all. The exhibits were very beautiful. I visited the modern museums of Milan and Stockholm as well, and the Ljubljana one is by far my favourite.

Some really interesting artefacts but primarily war related content from Serbia and Croatia. Still worth a visit if you're generally interested in modern and abstract art.

Fun museum. Little trick: play the game "guess the title of the art" and you won't be disappointed !

Large space for modern art collection and exhibits. Easy to linger, not crowded. Great cafe in the basement frequented by university students.

If you like modern art then you'll want to visit this gallery. A magnificent collection of works and art forms all wonderfully presented. The cafe is good too and all the staff are extremely nice!

I wanted to revisit earlier parts of the museum before I left, but they closed early and refused to allow me to enter. Why? "It's standard procedure." Fk the visitors and fk the art I guess, so long as their job is easier.

a museum for people that are really into art. it combined many art styles making it approachable to more people, however most of the artwork does not appeal to a normal persons intellect. it was really hard to enjoy it after a long day of visiting museums so you really need to be invested to understand everything that is going on

the guy at the front desk was so rude and his attitude was terrible. the atmosphere in the museum was very tense and there are people stationed at every exhibit watching you. seems rather unnecessary. uncomfortable experience, not worth the money

I was left speechless. The exhibits are so beautifully pieced together that it is almost impossible to peel your eyes off them. You will need about an hour to go through the whole gallery, after which you can relax in the cafè bellow the gallery itself. The gallery also provides a student discount, so be sure to bring your students' card!

I enjoyed my visit at the museum. Not all the pieces were inspiring to me, but there definitely were some really nice artworks. I would liked a bit more context to the pieces. For one "art" piece in particular i believe it was very difficult not having it. the piece in question is "german eagle over jewish vultures" which is textbook antisemitic propaganda. I think it is valuable to display such things, but not next to actual art without giving any context. I am not perfect and might have missed something about it, but after asking none of the employees could explain to me why it was displayed in such fashion.

I like this modern art museum because it has a variety of different modern art styles and a cute bookshop at the back. Student discounts!

Are you a lover of modern art of all mediums? Are you interested in Slovenian artists and the inspiration behind their works? If so, this museum is not to be missed. There are many interesting paintings, sculptures, video artworks, and other curiosities. If you are squeamish about you or your children seeing nudity, this gallery may not be your cup of tea. But if you are comfortable seeing a few naked body art works sprinkled in with the other art work, do stop by. The museum has a downstairs coffee bar/lounge and lecture hall for talks. I really enjoyed the museum and its art works.

An exellent art gallery, featuring some of Slovenia's greatest artists, like Rihard Jakopič. One can also enjoy a cup of coffee at gallery caffe and catch a view of Tivoli park!

The temporary exhibition is brillant. Our family, 2 adults and 2 kids aged 8 and 10, thoroughly enjoyed it!

Well, in these times expositions could be more suited to today's visitor. Slovenian art through modern times is... okej :) Temporary exhibition was very nice. Café is in the basement with outstanding interior.
