👍👍 Incredibly good museum for contemporary art. The construction alone is worth the visit. The exhibitions mesh well thematically and are curated with a wink and an ear to the pulse of the times. I'll definitely go here again! People often mention building, exhibitions, nice, space, museum, gallery, exhibition,

An important historical industrial building named Cukrarna, because originally it was a sugar refining facility. "Cuker" was an old folk word for sugar, derived from German word "zucker". Built in the years 1828-1834, the fire in 1885 destroyed most of the factoring equipment and in the years later the building had multiple owners and served for multiple purposes. Slovenian students learn of it because multiple famous poets - Murn, Kette, Cankar, Župančič - found a refuge here at the end of 19th century and worked together as a basis of Slovenian modernism. Later it was abandoned, suffered a few fires and vandalism. A part of it was torn down because of the construction of Fabiani bridge. In 2018 the long planned reconstruction work finally started.

A historically and culturally important part of Ljubljana and Slovenia in all. "Cukrarna" (sugar factory) as it is called, was for a long time in ruins and threatening to partially collapse. Fortunately, it is being renovated now which was planned for a long time. Soon, museum and galleries will be established in the complex. I recommend taking a short walk. There are also other sights nearby worth seeing.

I highly recommend this nice place. Amazing cafe “Cukrarna bar” with friendly and caring team. Lucia - a new waitress, who was serving me, was extremely nice and recommended me a very nice white wine (semisweet) “Rumenj Muškat”. It was Lucia’s first day there and she was sooo nice. I will definitely come here again on my next trip to Lujblana.

Go, go, go! This new gallery just opened this fall and has a wonderful exhibition right now. I really enjoyed slowly walking through the gallery space and experiencing the immersive installation pieces. It doesn’t feel like a cheap museum built for Instagram. Don’t skip the sound installation in the basement either. That was my favorite.

Beautiful center for contemporary Slovenian art, easily accessible on foot from the city center. Well-trained museum staff, questions about the exhibition and individual exhibits were answered at a high level by the young employees. Architecturally exciting and demanding, high-quality structural intervention tailored precisely to the location in an existing structure that had fallen into disrepair and was almost demolished. Beautiful café bar, great outdoor space design with a high quality of stay. A real highlight for those interested in the city/art/architecture.

Really cool place with art exhibitions and a bar. The building itself is quite interesting in terms of architecture after the renovation took place.

Nice, friendly staff in the entrance area. The exhibitions were also interesting. Price was okay. Lockers on the ground floor and basement for bags and jackets are easy to access using a numerical code. Interesting construction implementation inside.

Huge building, feels a bit empty with the super high ceiling, but nice café and exhibition. Would come back.

Very interesting architecture, especially how the existing old building is treated. The music exhibit in the basement was great.

They did not sell coffee an hour before closing since apparently they already cleaned the machine. There is also self service which you sometimes have to carry up the stairs and is not ideal for coffee or large order.

Beautiful space that on the day was partly taken advantage of due to an exhibit on the ground floor being installed when I visited. This doesn't take away from what was available to explore and see and all at a very reasonable price. Any fan of modern art should consider this space a must to see and I look forward to coming back in the future to see more exhibitions in this space.

Great place to visit if you are into modern art installations. The renovated building also received a prize for it's architectural achievements.

I love it what they've done with the place. Kept the structure of an original building and construction, made it super elegant and clean looking outside. The insides are a great play with keeping the parts of the older look and modern industrial feel. The main exhibition area is supposed to represent the separate reality. The cube like construction seems it is floating inside the main building, 4 levels of different shaped floors makes it a unique place for exhibitions and allows artist to express themselves as they like. Curious to see what is yet to come.

Incredible exhibitions in a beautiful building. Cafe is great too. Perhaps our favorite museum in Ljubljana. (Best museum bathrooms, too!)

an amazing gallery and event space with interesting exhibitions featuring many slovenian artists. the effort they put in the renovation is incredible, especially because this has been an important building historically for slovenian literature. a huge bonus is the nice bar with a great variety of beverages and outdoor seating.
