Maybe the best hostel I've ever stayed in. I've stayed for 1 night and I fell in love with it, it's clean and cozy and used to be a prison so it's super interesting. I would definitely stay again. Also, people who work on the reception were very nice and helpful. And the area is super artistic and cool. Totally recommend!

Moldy shower, food was mediocre and the employees created a somewhat bad-tempered atmosphere. The room was small but the building and common areas were comfortable and nicely decorated. All in all ok for one night.

Super cool hostel with an interesting design. Our room was really cozy and even though it was small it had enough room for all our stuff. You can also hang out in different common places during the day. Breakfast is pretty much the same every morning but they have a decent selection of dishes (omlette, ham and cheese, seasonal salad, honey, nutella, peanut butter, oats, cornflakes etc.) and drinks (lemonade, fruit juice, coffee, milk). The staff is friendly and always ready to help. All in all it was a fun experience and we would definitely visit again.

Fantastic place to stay! The rooms are great and the atmosphere is really nice. When I was here, it was full of young travellers. It's converted from an old prison so you can even go down into the old cells and look! The staff is really nice and helpful. I messed up my booking by a day but they were able to fix it at no cost to me, and get me a cheaper room. When my locker broke they were also helpful, but couldn't fix it until after I had to leave. Luckily I could get my stuff out before then so it wasn't a problem. You also get free breakfast! I just wish they had more began options. They are so focused on sustainability. They really shouldn't neglect the impact of animal agriculture on the environment. All in all, I can't recommend this place enough!

Amazing place! The neighborhood is not so safe I would say, I didn't feel comfortable, but the hostel is perfect. I love rooms and all the way they are designed. Stuff is so helpful and friendly. Breakfast is tasty and various. All hostel is clean and funny. There was a concert at the time we stayed there and I absolutely loved it 🥰 I highly recommend 🥰 can't wait to go back again 😀

Emploies are rubbish, twice on the same day, early morning hours the male employee was unwelcoming in the afternoon the female was a total B**** it was overwhelming for her to correct me when i missundersrood the price to be 36€ instead 39€ with a tone unsuitable in any scenario, so i left on the spot. Would give it 0 stars but the place does look clean, nice overall, great location and warm. The extended lobby with a caffe sure is a nice touch.

Trust me when I say I’ve been to a lot of hostels in my life. This has got to be one of the most memorable ones for me. It’s an ex-prison (military I think) converted into a hostel. They even have a hostel tour, where the staff talks about the design choices of the hostel, that blew me away. Very artsy and quirky, much like Ljubljana, much like Metelkova. Entrance door is a sundial, there’s an art gallery, huge communal spaces, and they left the solitary cell from back when it was a prison untouched (you can visit!). Breakfast was decent. Rooms were greatly designed. Each bed has very convenient access to a plug. Toilet was also spacious, clean, and well designed. Rooms were also themed and each were designed by a different artist. This made it extremely great value given the price point. Definitely one of the reasons Ljubljana became a place I wouldn’t mind returning to (despite being pretty small).

Spend a night in the cells! I really enjoyed my stay here - incredibly clean everywhere, large common room, helpful staff, good breakfast included. It felt really fresh when I stayed as it had recently been painted and renovated. It's only a 5 minutes walk to the bus/train station or 10 minutes to the centre. would recommend booking into one of the uniquely designed prison cells (even though it's a little more expensive). The live music on tuesday evenings was nice and definitely take the tour of the hostel at 1pm. A bit quiet but possibly as it was early season. But I got talking to some really nice people over breakfast.

I haven't stayed here but I went there 3 night in a row for concerts, drinks during my stay in Ljubljana. First of all, the staff is amazing! Tom, Goncalvo, Maja and Ana! I remember each of them with their friendly welcome. I have seen a perfect sevdalinka concert, meet different people. Hugs and congratulations to everyone who made me remember this memory!

Great and super clean hostel! Especially the bathrooms are bright and clean. For this price I would recommend it to groups of people/students. Last but not least, breakfast is delicious 🙌🏼

I’m pretty surprised by some of the negative reviews here because this is one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in. I stayed in a 4 bed mixed dorm on the 2nd floor. The beds were comfy enough. The ensuite bathroom was cleaned daily. The under bed lockers lock/unlock using your room key. My only complaint about the room is that the rooms on the 2nd floor have frosted glass windows, meaning that when the hallway light is on at night it lights up the room. I had a sleeping mask so no problem! There is a great hangout space on the 2nd floor and the hostel seemed to attract a really interesting and social crowd when I was there. The guest kitchen is small but well-equipped (fridge, stove top, sink, dishes, kettle. A microwave would be helpful though!). I really enjoyed the included breakfast. There was bread (with a toaster) and spreads daily. The eggs varied (first day scrambled, rest of my time hard boiled). There were always some fruits and vegetables as well. I really enjoyed the homemade granola! When I was there they were doing some renovations to the rooms on the 1st floor, which are the prison cell rooms, so I cannot comment on them. Staff was very kind and helpful at check-in. Overall a fantastic experience and I will recommend it to anyone I know who is traveling in the region.

Wowwowwow this hostel is so beautiful! It's located in metelkova which is this beautiful art and cultural center which is absolutely stunning. The hostel itself is a prison but don't get fooled, it's actually super fancy inside. I stayed in the dorm and there is no bunk beds so all the beds are next to eachother, the beds are super comfy and there is open spaces everywhere. Downstairs there is a huge common room with an outside garden/terrace and in the morning you will get a crazy breakfast buffet with freshly cooked eggs and other stuff included in the price. I would also reccomend the prison bedroom which I sadly didn't book

I booked a room last-second for my daughter and her friends who needed to check in late at night, which was possible and I greatly appreciated it. I rang twice in the evening and the receptionist, I think it was Petra, was extremely kind and helpful. Thanks again!

Hostel Celica was great -- it's in a very interesting neighborhood but still a quick walk away from downtown Ljubljana. The staff was excellent and the rooms (old prison cells) were fun.

I spent five nights in hotel Celica in a 12 bed dorm. You need earplugs if you have light sleep. Hotel Celica is situated in the middle of Metalkova. The little but neat area is known for it’s arristic touch. You can find Ljubljana underground scene there. Because of 2-3 Clubs and a funky shabby little bar alternative people will get to their cost. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I even could ask them to give me personal advice since I had to find an Appartement after my stay. I would sit at the bar every night, drink a beer and have conversation with total strangers. Every Tuesday there is a free concert. I used the kitchen during my stay which is equipped an gets cleaned on a regular bases. The bathrooms are clean and get cleaned on a daily bases. Only critic: I am a student however and finances are a big thing for me. Hostel Celica is more on the expensive side with the 28€/night i spent on an off season (mid february) stay. My Reccomondation: Check out the double rooms. They are worth a shot. The Hausi is an old prison and they left the rooms (nicely designed) with a touch of the history.

This hostel has a great personality! Great location and a great offer of activities and helpful tips even before you arrive to the place, thank you ! I stayed in the 12 bed dorm which looked more spacious in the photos but had a proper distribution. You have lockers to keep your valuables and some space beside your bed too. Very clean, which is great! The staff here is amazing. Ana, Petra, Milica and the rest of people that make this place function, million thanks for the vibe that’s created. It is definitely a non-typical hostel due to his history so if you want to stay and keep promoting revolutionary spaces, you MUST discover this place. It is true that there isn’t a lift and some of their rooms have steps for getting into your bed so, I would recommend to ask or mention if you have any problem with stairs, maybe you can find an option on the main floor.

Great spot, great vibe, friendly staff! The night I stayed they had an incredible live Latin band playing downstairs, but everything was wrapped up by 11pm so still had a great night's sleep. The place had a great social atmosphere but it's not a party hostel. Located in a cool arts district with community bars/ live theatre and music. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

This was my favorite hostel of my whole trip!! The staff was more than nice to us, we had free breakfast, there was a Karaoke night when we were there and another night a language café. The hostel is really trying to connect people and offer them fun activities. The rooms were nice, the bathroom was clean. The only bad thing was the smell, that came from the bathroom sometimes. It has something to do with the water source, but that problem appears in many regions. It wouldn’t be a reason for me to not stay there, as it is probably a problem in every hostel there. Besides that we met a lot of cool people there! Overall it is soo worth the price, you can really see how the Hostel is trying their best!

I booked a shared dorm room for 1 night, and although I didn't spend too long in it, since I was out all day, I was very impressed with everything that I experienced during my stay. The room was very clean, and we each had a locker, which was opened using the key card, which I felt was very impressive. Each locker also had a charging port inside, which is very handy. The dorm room had 1 male and 1 female bathroom attached, which was very modern and clean. It's also a bonus that they offer free breakfast in the morning which is great for the price of the stay. The hostel is located slightly away from the centre of the city but it's only 15 minutes walk away from the main sites so for the quality and value of the place, I would highly recommend it. Also, it's close to the train station which is very convenient. The staff I spoke with were all very friendly and the reception is manned 24 hours. They're also able to look after your luggage before and after check in.

Rooms where a bit uncomfortable and without bed tables to leave your things, they had lockers though requiring only your room's key card to use. Breakfast included in the price was great and it's close to the train station. it is also close to an alternative art street which is really busy in the night Also the staff was helpful :)

Location to flixbus station was a huge plus, free breakfast, luggage storage after checkout and amazing staff were also positives for me! Unfortunately with the layout in the dorm I chose I personally wasn’t a fan of how close the beds were to neighbors. It also luckily was no problem during my stay of 1 night, but with the en-suite bathrooms it can be difficult as one person showering/ post-shower readying for typically 10-20 minutes then puts the toilet out of capacity for 8-10 others during this time :/ The old prison aspect was super interesting!

very cool project that they have done here. This remodeled jail is a very unique hostel to stay in. It is within walking distance of old town and the staff are very helpful.

Staff was super friendly and helpfull. Breakfast was small but everything you really need. Location is great, near train station and also city centre. Room clean as well as bathroom. Vibe was amazing. Would recommend and come again.

Great one, the kind of place that you can trust and can suggest to your friends when you're looked for an affordable shared room. They are friendly and well mannered, and the place is nice furnished, and very clean. It's also in a good position, in between to the train / bus station and the historical centre, and 1 minute far from the Contemporary Art Museum.

  • 5/5 Jaka J. 2 years ago on Google
Lovely hostel, though I can't speak to tge service being that I usually go there for the concerts rather than stay. The garden ambiance is perfect, the sound is always great and the team organizing events is lovely and very responsive. Having played the venue many times I can safely say I will always gladly respond to invites to play there.

Wonderfully designed rooms/cells with functional AC, very helpful and nice staff and overall a great place to stay in Ljubljana with legendary Metelkova right around the corner. Food also good and cheap. Only minus: No cold water in the shower and from the tap, at least when I was there in summer with 33°C+

Look no further is you want to enjoy the funkiest hostel you will ever see. A renovated former prison, this beautiful spot is a dream come true. From the extremely helpful staff at check-in who helped us find vegan options, to the various relaxation spots around the property, everything was delightful. We rented a 4 bed room, and found the room clean and bright with comfortable beds. The 3 bed rooms are made in old jail cells and the shared bathrooms were extremely clean (we were nosey and peeked in). The location is a short walk to downtown and near the arts district. Highly recommend this little gem. Next time we will stay longer and enjoy the barbecue.

Pretty unusual little hostel: an ex-military base turned into a hostel, with "cells" for the "inmates". Each cell is different than the others, furnished in an artistic/ascetic style. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately the good style and friendly staff can't take away from they have several large groups of school children wandering around the hostel halls and accommodation touching everything which makes it feel very unsafe during covid. Especially as often some aren't wearing masks. The school trip also arrived in the morning which woke people up especially as they were knocking on doors and being VERY loud. They blocked all corridors and entrances so you had to push through to get anywhere - also unsafe during covid. The hostel itself has nice reception, plenty of public space and is styled well. The breakfast is terrible - every day the same - just very basic cereal, the same slices of cheese and 'ham' and eggs with honey. It got boring incredibly fast. They DO have decent coffee machine during breakfast times, reception is staffed 24/7 and takes only 15mins to walk into the centre. I'd probably come back after covid but only on weekends when there are no school trips waking up guests and blocking corridors But seriously... what crazy accommodation thinks it's a good safe idea to have school trips during covid.

Definitely one of the cleanest hostels I've ever been to. Staff is super nice and welcoming, adds to the overall good atmosphere. The beds are comfy and come with actual blankets as well as a shower towel. The breakfast could use some more fruits and veggies and the coffee machine takes ages for one cup. Other than that, overall a great place tho!

  • 5/5 Sophie K. 2 years ago on Google
Best hostel I've ever stayed at. Great location in an alternative area close to the art museum. Wide open and light communal spaces. Stayed at a 4 bed dorm which was spacious with a decent clean en suite. Home made lemonade.

Very nice and rustic hostel, located in the former prison! Rooms have a special and unique vibe, like nothing I encoutered before! Highly recommended!

Our room was smelling like a old dog, the bath area was also not really clean/dirty, the breakfast was really cheap, now the good things: it was quiet in the night and the workers there where really friendly :) greetings

  • 5/5 Parsa A. 1 year ago on Google
This post prison Hostel was giving a really nice vibe. The breakfast was okay. Unfortunately toilets are not so clean. But the rooms ( at least the one we were in was made really interesting and special decorations.

Great hostel! The room was quite small but it comes with a private toilet/shower and the breakfast was the best! You can also get a bike for 6€ per day. Highly recommend!

Really nice hostel with good facilities and clean rooms. It’s neat that it’s a converted prison! The breakfast was decent, but it was really nice that it’s free. It’s a little further out from the center of town, but it’s a nice walk!

  • 5/5 Mauricio Cano T. 1 year ago on Google
I only stayed there for 1 night, but the staff where super nice, the room and the bathroom were very clean, they have air conditioning, and the breakfast was really good. They have very good places in the hostel where you can drink or eat.

What a hostel! Simply gorgeous! Ex-Military prison turned into such a fancy place. Enjoyed everything. Eco-friendly. Lockers running by keycard. Breakfast with vegan options, super nice staff. By the way: Hvala for the shirt. Love you!

  • 5/5 Gagan S. 1 year ago on Google
One of the best hostels I have stayed at till date, spotlessly clean and tidy with a very friendly, helpful and informative staff available 24x7 at the reception! Excellent breakfast spread with plenty of variety for everyone. They also arranged gluten free bread as I have a gluten allergy!Unique and well designed prison cells, offering a one of a kind of experience. They have various events arranged in the common area where you can socialize with fellow hostel mates! Watch Out: The rooms are tiny and you have to climb up to reach the bed. It may get challenging for especially tall or heavy person to fit on the not so big bed.

Nice, clean hostel. Not much of a social atmosphere. Bathrooms were shared but spacious and clean. Was cool to read about the history of the building. Loved the breakfast - you could choose from toast, cereal, musli, yoghurt, spreads, cheese, eggs, some fruit/veg. Kitchen was pretty small but luckily not many people were using it.
