Unique historical site with secret hospital from WW2 made by partisans during German occupation. Hidden in Pasice gorge it was used to treat 578 heavily injured soldiers and 500 of them survived. Although it was attacked multiple times by Germans it was never occupied.

It is a must-see for anyone interested in World World II history. It is amazing, how the brave Slovenian partisans managed to maintain, down a narrow gorge, a hidden functioning hospital (including a surgery room) for treating their sick and injured (as well as rescued allied combatants) - right under the nose of the occupying German forces.

We left the place very emotional after reading and seeing what courage, ingenuity, sacrifice, knowledge,... of few people could do to save so many lives in those horid times of ww2.

Incredible part of WW2 history and a reminder of things that happened in that time, what people sacrificed to help others and how tough they were. A beautiful path leads to the site and it can be a bit slippery in places, so be careful. The site was heavily damaged in a flood years ago, but was renovated and represents the history faithfully. Worth a visit!

I underestimated the extent and organization of the hospital. They even had an X-ray machine, which I find totally impressive. Especially the fact that they had to power it somehow in those woods with a water-driven generator. Well worth the visit.

The Franja Partisan Hospital is a historic monument that is beautiful to look at and full of interesting information. Due to a devastating flood in 2007 the whole thing was reconstructed but it's still a great experience. If you have the chance you need to visit it. It's suitable for children.

Let’s not forget those who gave thier lives 75+ years ago, so we can live peacefuly and in freedom. They were from all nations, they fought, they won, so us, future generations of that time, can prosper. Let future generations of ours learn and remember this, so that such horror never repeats, despite some trying to change historical facts. That’s what you can see and learn at The Franja Partisan Hospital.

Be it a 20-minute nature walk. experiencing the Franja Partisan Hospital is an ideal and active way to add variety to traditional museum excursions. Well-written information boards will lead you up a stunning path to 14 wooden cabins that served as the hospital complex. Hospital Franja is the best-preserved and the most exciting of WWII Partisan hospitals, which served as a clandestine aid center for wounded resistance soldiers, tucked away in a gorge and secluded ravine where the Nazis would not have looked. Every time a touch of breath in this beautiful nature around Pasice gorge and the village of Dolenji Novaki. 💚

Really cool place hidden in the valley. Loved the way the exhibition was made, with small stories and facts connected to every building. A nature experience as well, walking in the narrow gorge.

Impressive to see how inventive and resourcefull people were and had to be during the war. Beautifull walk up to the Hidden hospital. Make sure to wear some decent shoes as it can be slippery on certain spots.

WW2 partisan hospital, which was used to treat wounded. The place is fully renovated after the flood, with barracks built as they once stood. The guides are very professional, adding to the experience itself. The path to the hospital is accessible by foot, it takes about 10 minutes to reach it from the parking place.

Very unique exhibition, beautiful surroundings. It's a bit out of the way so not worth a super long drive, but definitely worth a visit if you love history and nature.

Very well explained and reserved area with the memory of the fight against facisme. Definately worth a visit in addition to the municipal museum of Idrija which can both be done in 1 day

Fascinating. A very unique spot of partisan hospital in a narrow karst gorge. Perfect for a trip during a hot day as the gorge microclimate is rather cool. Dogs are allowed.

A history sight worth visiting. How did they survive in this hospital? With lots of will and much luck.

Fascinating piece of war history! And this place does well to take you back to the time when this place was up and running, and saving lives. I particularly liked the first person narration about the life during its operation. A lot of respect to the noble doctors, nurses and local people for what they did here for many wounded soldiers.
