After a night of snow, the Kamnik Alps had a beautiful new white coating, and as the cloud and mist moved and swirled around, there were plenty of great moments to capture. The hard part is choosing the best ones. So here's the first. More is coming.

Pleasant walk from the village and nice view from the top. There is also a small restaurant with tasty donuts.

The road will seem rough you but continue on. Cars are allowed and there is nice parking once you reach the castle. The castle is on hilltop with gorgeous views. You can enter the castle easily. There are informational placards in Slovenian. To our surprise there is a lovely restaurant cafe at the base of the castle. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Restrooms available. There is a large children playground. We were greeted by two sweet dogs likely belonging to the owners. Hard to resist enjoying a coffee while taking in the breathtaking views. Many people seemed to be hiking up but it is a steady path uphill so driving is best.

It's a short walk to the top where you and your family will be treated to a wonderful view and the opportunity to explore ruins of a medieval castle.

What a pleasant suprise. The ruins of the castle are continuosly being restored. The surrounding infrastructure as well. The whole complex is tidy and esthetic. The view from the castle is extraordinary. It is best if you leave the car at the bottom of the hill (parking provided) and walk to the hill top. I recommend taking a visit. You can also have something to eat since there is a restaurant at the top.

Very nice and very good food.

A beautiful view, with decently maintained gravel road leading from Smlednik to the top of the hill. A small bar with a selection of basic drinks to enjoy the view and quench your thirst. No entrance fee with parking either next to the castle or in the city below (if you prefer hiking)

Nice hike to the top, short and not very demanding. There's a bar by the ruins, selling drinks and some food, and the views are amazing.

Quite busy lately, but a nice short hike with beautiful views of Zbilje lake between Karavanke Mountains, Polhovgradec hills, and Ljubljana dolina.

This time we tried some dishes at place and we must say that "štrudelj", "flancat" and coffee were very good. Nice renovation of place.
