Careful! The cave is 2 km north of the village, you could park at reka an hike your way up to the cave. Visit the small diner on top, great host!

This is a must see. Great location and a guide who had childhood experience and was full of stories. The presentation and movies in the cave are at a high level. Excellent.

In the village of Reka, next to the bridge over the river Idrijca, there is a parking lot and a sign with a description of the archaeological find of a flute in Divje babah. At the intersection or at the crossroads there is no direction sign for the path along the mulatera, but there is a marked walking path that goes to the right and at the last house I was directed to a steep marked mountain path (a bit confusing). The mulatera further towards the top is nicely secured and paved (stairs). Much is described on the billboards. Access by car is possible, the road via Šebrelj to St. Ivan and then along the paved path to the destination. I recommend stopping at the buffet at St. Ivan, where you will be welcomed by a friendly caretaker and you can support yourself and also learn something about this place!!! I recommend visiting and viewing.

A piece of paradise here, behind the village there is a park on the summit with a church and bar. Incredibly beautiful views and a challenging, steep stairway to the site where the Neanderthal flute was found. This can be admired in the museum in Ljubljana

Located on a top of plateau, Divje Babe is one of the most famous archaeological places in Slovenia, famous for its Neanderthal flute, which is considered to be the oldest remain of a human musical instrument. The scenic church os St. Ivan is located on the top of plateau, and a short walk down the hill is a cave where they found the flute along with many animal remains, mostly bear bones, dating back more than 100,000 years int the past. If you get a guided tour, an amazing interactive presentation of our past waits inside the cave.

Great visit. If you come from far, beware that the guided visits are three times a week (Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 10am starting at the nearby church) during July and August! You can also call ahead the LTO Laufar Cerkno association for guided tours. The archeological site and the wall projections on the site are locked off when there is no guide!

The hill and surroundings of the church are very charming. There are relics of trenches from World War I. From the hill you can go down towards the caves where a fragment of the oldest known flute was found. Unfortunately, the stand itself is closed (as of June 2023). You can leave your car about 300 m in front of the church.

(Translated by Google) Mystical. To think a lot. The cave is otherwise locked. There are guided tours in the summer if you subscribe. Great route and great location. Mount at the Church of Sts. Ivana at Sebrellah is also a bar. There is something to eat and drink. (Original) Misticno. Da veliko mislit. Jama je sicer zaklenjena. Poleti so vodeni ogledi, če se naročiš. Odlicno urejena pot in izredna lokacija. Gori pri Cerkvi sv. Ivana na Sebrejlah je tudi bar. Se da kaj pojesti in popiti.

(Translated by Google) The archaeological park Divje babe is one of the most important finds of the ancient Stone Age in the world. In the steep slope that descends from the Šebrelj plateau to the Idrijca valley there is a hidden cave in which bones of more than 60 different species of bones, stone and bone tools and remains of fireplaces a glacial man.

(Translated by Google) Less than 10 minutes of descent, the cave is otherwise empty. Too bad they didn’t mark the place where they found the flute. (Original) Slabih 10 minut spusta, jama je sicer prazna. Škoda, da niso označili mesta, kjer so našli piščal.

(Translated by Google) An interesting place, you can hear the sounds of prehistoric people in this natural environment. It is a pity that the cave was closed with sheet metal, which spoils the natural appearance. Surely there are better options? For 60,000 years it has defied time, but now modern man has locked it away in the ugliest way possible. Otherwise... worth a look. (Original) Zanimiv kraj, kar slišiš zvoke praljudi v tem naravnem okolju. Škoda pa, da so jamo zaprli s pločevino, ki kvari naraven izgled. Zagotovo so boljše možnosti? 60 000 let je kljubovala času zdaj pa jo je sodobni človek zaklenil na najgrši možni način. Sicer pa... vredno ogleda.

(Translated by Google) Many stairs leading to the closed part of the cave. Other than a few information tables, there is nothing special. (Original) Veliko stopnic, katere vodijo do zaprtega dela jame. Razen nekaj informacijskih tabel, ni nič posebnega.
