Probably one of the best Japanese experience I had until now. Obviously I was expecting it to be high end and different but not in this view. I think what amazes me is the friendliness of the staff and also the personnalisation of the experience they prepare for you. I took the complete menu to try what they had to offer and if you can I recommend to be at the bar. You can see the full kitchen and you will see them working together and preparing the sushi and the rest of the food just in front of you. Can’t recommend enough this place if you are a sushi lover!

Wow. Michelin star sushi. So good. The best quality and executed brilliantly. They accommodated my low-mercury request without batting an eyelash. We enjoyed a well paced lunch here, opting for the smaller menu with the waguy beef. Definitely go here during your visit to Barcelona. It takes sushi to a new level.

Great haute-cuisine Japanese restaurant studded with a Michelin star. Located in the small street Carrer d'en Copons, it is easily accessible from both Plaça Nova and Via Laietana. The seating is divided into both the stand-alone tables in the dining room and the counter seating. Both serve different purposes, convey different vibes, and create different atmosphere. There are two tasting menus available: a smaller tasting menu "Koy" (still over 12 courses), offered at a steal bargain price of € 98 pp, and a bigger "G(ASTRO)" tasting menu numbering over 15 courses and priced at € 147 pp, a veritable feast. Amazing food, amazingly fresh ingredients, beautifully minimalistic plating. Unforgettable dining experience. Highly recommended.

What a disappointment. The restaurant has two sections; an open kitchen area and a train coach area. Unfortunately, we were seated at the saddest corner of the coach area. When we asked if we could have another table in the central area, we were told that our table was very comfortable. I think we were at 3 rd table in the restaurant at the time. From that point on, it went from bad to worst. Where shall we start, from our waiter who does not understand Japanese food or culture to no direction in the food? Most surprisingly, how could it mess up green tea, two ingredients of tea and water? What I got was very, very hot light green water. We could not eat most of the food, and we were trying to be polite and very hard to eat bland dishes. But we were stop trying in the middle of our dinner. All items were served with a sauce which was more of a reduction and either overpowering or simply weird. The sushi rice was undercooked, and was it even Japanese rice? They were happy to clear our full plates of food without asking any questions. we paid our bill and left... Hungry, sad and bewildered; how can they get it so so wrong!!!

The tasting menu was delicious. Both the fish and wagyu was high quality and perfectly prepared. My favorite was all the tuna sushi (there were 3 different cuts) and the wagyu mushrooms dish. The service was great too, they took great care of our party. The sommelier was friendly and talking, taking time to explain any questions we had. Great experience. I recommend sitting at the bar where you can see the chefs at work up close.

REVIEW Great Japanese restaurant. The product is fresh. It has two taste menus. We did the short one and it was amazing! Nice ambience and decoration,m. If you are less than 3 people i strongly recommend you to sit at the bar, the experience will be even better because you will be able to see all the cooking process. You can not miss the wagyu! Food - 5 Service - 5 Quality vs price - 5 Ambience - 5 Price pers: 150 € Best plate - Toro nigiris

The visit was really an experience for us! The presentation of the dishes was thought trough, the services was flawless and attentive. Ambiente was modern but warm. We enjoyed sophisticated Dashi preparation, Austern liver, varieties of tuna, lobster and squid. For lovers of authentic, refined Japanase food.

This is my second visit, food was fresh and good, the service was good, I enjoyed the eel dishes a lot. The only thing I'm not so content is that it seems they are using ponzu a lot, almost every few dishes I tasted the same ponzu, in the end I got a bit tired of it.

This was literally the best meal of my life. We got the 14 course tasting menu for $180. On par with the best from Tokyo and Osaka. At least 11/14 dishes were simply excellent. Excellent flavor combinations like squid/shiso/umeboshi, to unique ingredients like barnacle, to beautiful multi-part presentation for a single course made this meal absolutely magical. We’ll remember this meal for a long, long time.

The food is great, they serve few different dishes in 1 menu item (i.e. tuna from fattest to thinner part) which is great. I was served by Victor and he is great. Do have similarity with Omakase but good food doesn’t matter in anyway. Only thing to improve is they seem lack of staff on the ground serving the customer.

We went for our anniversary and it was an wonderful experience. The sushi were so good that it melted directly in your mouth. We were sitting at the bar, and the chef was very friendly and polite. He will explain to us each sushi he was making and suggested us to eat it quickly. The place was clean, services was good. Since it has an michelin star, it might be pricey.

Absolutely spectacular. “The” Japanese restaurant outside of Japan. Flavours and experience - unmatched. Enjoy if you can get there.

Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Location 5/5 Incredible experience. Japanese cuisine adjusted to western taste (not fushion). Closest to Japan cuisine standards you can have in Barcelona. I recomend counter seating to get the full experience.

Been looking for very good, high quality sushi and koy shunka delivered. I highly recommend if you want omasake. The chef was very nice and the food was so good and fresh. It’s the best sushi I’ve had in Barcelona, worth the 95 euros for lunch!

Remarkable experience. We had the Gastro menu at the bar. Incredible combination of flavours, textures and top fish quality. Bravo shokunin Matsuhisa & team

Eaten at 2 star restaurants where the food deserved it less then at Koy Shunka. Most creations had several subtiele flavours and a wide veriaty of textures which are well balanced and nicely as alternated so that every small dish (which seem to be served endlesly) tastes like a new experiance. I could write several pages but simply put if you like japonese food look no further. A point of improvement would be as we are used to the chef to greet with taking the order or with saying goodbye. We did get to see him in action in managing all the cooks that you get to see. Service was friendly, good and on point without being intrusive. Recommended sake was a delight.
