Unremarkable food We came for dinner on a Friday night and found this really disappointing. The food on the sushi conveyor belt was a little tired and we felt that everything was far too sweet - even the soy sauce was sweet. The service was pretty good, everything we ordered came out fast and the staff were friendly and attentive. But it is just not authentic Japanese food.

Despite the bad reviews my meal was pleasant. Japanese curry was great. My main complaint is the Gyoza are not pan fried. Would love to see them improve the Gyoza. Lovely staff.

Not good value or quality. Today's Sushi was poorly rolled, very loose and all the filling was falling out. Probably just not worth it given its more expensive than the average sushi train

Premium decorations, prompt service but the sushi ... Just under average especially the rice is very hard to chew. Update: I had diarrhoea about 2 hours after the meal, so yeah... Down to 2 stars.

Why is the spicy pork suddenly $27 up from $19 the week before. Ridiculous. Won’t be coming back to be overcharged. Found a similar meal that included more pork, kimchi, salad and a drink for $25.

Came here in October and was absolutely amazed by the Halloween decorations and the Halloween headbands the staff wear, I love the sushi here it always tastes so fresh. The staff are so friendly when interactions were had.

Wara Sushi in Newstead is a great place to go for a casual Japanese meal. The menu has a wide variety of dishes to choose from, including both traditional Japanese and more fusion-inspired options. I find that the food at Wara Sushi is more geared towards the Korean and Western palate, with fewer raw seafood sushi options than you might find at a more traditional Japanese restaurant. However, the food is still delicious and well-prepared. I usually order from the menu instead of grabbing from the sushi train. This is because I find that the menu items are more interesting and unique. For example, I recently tried the poke salad bowl with sashimi, and it was delicious. The sashimi was fresh and flavorful, and the salad was perfectly balanced. Overall, I highly recommend Wara Sushi. It's a great place to go for a casual and enjoyable Japanese meal.

After placing my order of two plates and a beverage, I was surprised to see my sashimi arrived without fresh wasabi to compliment, I was advised I must order separately, for $1.00 extra. Then my second plate arrives behind me.. on an R2D2 looking robotic waitress. I don't support self-serve checkouts, and I don't support this back-to-the-future, emotionless service, requesting I click 'Confirm' after collecting my meal. No thanks. Lastly (should have been firstly), my can of beverage was delivered by a human, however equally as emotionless as the robot. Service is so important; when you cut labour costs, you reduce the customer experience, irrespective of the food quality, which was just permissible.
