We had an overnight stay with Rydges. The package deal included a room with a view, buffet breakfast, and 1 pm check out and valet parking. Great staff, very friendly and courteous. The room was the letdown for the price we paid (I felt). Walked into the room and looked straight at the toilet in the tiny en suite (great shower). The room was quite small compared to other places. Had to pay near $30 to watch a movie. We screen shared off the phone. Nightclub music played very loud, at least to 2 am. when I finally fell asleep. Breakfast was fantastic, great kitchen staff. Went to get our belongings at 12.45 pm from our room and had been locked out. I won't purposely stay there again.

Stayed here for business for one night; really pleasant place with fabulous rooms and comfy interior fit out. I booked late for this hotel online with Qantas, but the checkin and service was all fabulous, getting in around 8:00pm at night. Quickly made my way up to the room and dropped my bags off. The interior fit out for the room was lovely. Bed was comfortable, showers and amenities all well stocked and modern. Honestly, was just great to check in late to a lovely space. Popped downstairs for a sneaky beverage which I took bad to the room and crashed out! Showers and services in the morning were all good. Even promptly got extra amenities kits delivered to the room as well. Overall a really positive stay and experience for me!

Fabulous rooms, the beds are so comfortable could stay there all day. The only problem was one lift was out of service and we had to wait for what seemed like an eternity. On a high note the staff were amazing, thank you to Jordan at reception.

Great experience from beginning to end. Greeted with a smile, can I get your bag? How was your day? So warm and welcoming. The rooms were nice and amazing views of the city and Brisbane River. Food was good too buy a little pricey. However all in all, well worth it!

I recently stayed at this hotel during a solo business trip and was impressed by my stay. The hotel's location is fantastic, with easy access to the city and plenty of restaurants and bars to enjoy within a short walking distance. The rooms are modern and spacious, and they were kept clean throughout my stay. Rooms have ironing boards and a decent hair dryer. The hotel also boasts a great bar and restaurant, offering both formal and casual dining options. The staff at this hotel were polite and efficient, making my stay all the more enjoyable. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable, convenient, and enjoyable stay in the area.

Went here a few years back and loved it. Location is great. This time around not so much. Our room was right next to the pool bar and at 2am on the Friday, two hours after the bar is advertised to be shut, we called downstairs asked to be moved given that we were essential in the bar. We were told no because apparently our room rate was not enough for a different room. This is despite paying more this time than the last and paying for a superior room instead of a standard. And the price advertised online at that time was cheaper than what we paid, for a better room. We were eventually moved the next day. Not great considering we went for a wedding and were shattered the whole day having had zero sleep. Other reviews seem to say the same. When paying almost $1000 for two nights you expect better than a hostel atmosphere.

We had an issue with our room which we need to get fixed. Martin the duty manager was very quick to respond. We were very happy with the outcome. Beds were very comfortable and staff were lovely. Great location. We would definitely stay again.

My friend is staying there and is loving it. Great concierge and reception services. Cleaners are sweet. She said breakfast Is AMAZING. Great area to wander around in the evening. Plenty of people around and the walk along the river is delightful. Plenty of arty type events and exhibitions to attend in the area. Many delightful food choices in the surrounding streets.

Stayed weekend of 1/7/24 in a Queen with balcony. Rate seemed low for “luxury” and comparable to a local chain motel. It quickly became apparent why. Room had used glass sitting outside door at check-in. Also observed used dishes sitting at elevator vestibule for hours. Unknown substances on wall and switches in bathroom that could have been easily cleaned. No soap bars for hand washing provided -we had to use the shower body wash each time. Air Con did not auto restart after rising above set temp and had to be manually restarted (woke up in a sweat at 3am). Pool was green, opaque, and out of operation. Chair thrown from someone’s balcony visibly broken and lying on roof of pool deck. Fitness center smelled horrendous. Spa was drained and also out of order. Expensive daily parking of $55 not disclosed anywhere at time of booking. Informed of cheaper parking at Convention Center for $30, however, after walking past their car park an hour later saw sign that parking was full and unavailable (thankful we did not waste time driving around to find out the hard way). Did not eat at restaurants, but seems we dodged further disappointment based on pricing and 3 star average reviews. Lobby consistently looked like a high school trip and had luggage sitting out in the open everywhere, would not feel comfortable or recommend storing bags due to this. Only positives were the view, balcony, and location. Had we anticipated these issues we would have 100% booked elsewhere and at least been able to enjoy some semblance of amenities. Was extremely hot days and we couldn’t even enjoy a swim. I highly recommend booking elsewhere until they get this place together.

There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom, meaning everything was wet, from the steam of a hot shower. There was always a wait for the elevators; suggests there is not enough for amount of rooms available. The most annoying thing for me though, was the no option valet parking for 55 bucks a night. Not only did this add to an already expensive nights stay, not included (or noted that i can see on review?) in the original booking, but it was an absolute shambles. The parking itself was very limited, meaning they were trying to do car shuffles to get cars in and out. Made the check in and out process a very long one, as these are peak times for them. You can't even just go down to your car (with out organising with them) to get something out, as they take your keys. I found the whole thing very annoying and expensive. Bed was comfy, ac worked well and was quiet, shower was lovely.

Have recently spent 4 nights at Rydges , and the room was extraordinary well laid out and extremely clean. However it was service for the whole stay that was non-existent and let me down. 1 night I ring reception 4 times over a 2 hr period to try and get an issue fixed, spoke to staff twice & got hung up on twice - NO staff came to help. Next day I lodged a face to face complaint at reception, not once was I asked what my actual problem was and saw no one. Hotel Room - great Food - Fantastic but seriously overpriced Service - non existent and very disappointing

This is not a bad place if you can shop around for a good price, like we did. It's not the newest property so some of the rooms look a bit tired. In ours the door stop had come undone. Not a big deal but a safety concern nonetheless (big bolts sticking up out of the floor is never a good idea). After we checked in the phone didn't work... Not a big deal, but a bit hard to call housekeeping that way. Our booking was also not available on the app... Someone made a mistake with our reservation? Out kids really didn't like the pool closing at 6PM - That's when the bar opens! It's a licensing thing apparently or so we were told. Just don't get yourself hyped up for a late night swim. The pool is tiny anyway and only a meter deep. So any more than a bit of splashing around is out of the question anyway. Oh, unheated too...

Was a wonderful stay for a chorus convention. The room was comfortable and clean and gave me the 'wow' factor when I walked in. The staff were pleasant and courteous, particularly the cleaners. The view was spectacular if you were lucky enough to be high enough to face the ferris wheel.

Had a really bad experience through checking process. On the website and my reservation it says "check in 2 pm" but I was told it's 3 pm and even after 3 pm my room was not ready. The lady at reception was rude, she didn't explain anything (my room, lifts, wifi, breakfast, ...) and no apology for the delay. Also the hotel app is useless, no useful information is there. It's creepy because it always asks for access to personal contacts and media gallary through installation process and when you deny access, it stops working.

Arrived, had to wait 6 hours for a room, power and water went out. No air con at night, felt like we were drying had to prop the door open and made no difference. when we asked for help or compensation the poor workers were overwhelmed. Asked us politely to try to find another hotel. Terrible owners and management. Would never stay again

Stayed for two nights for the convenience of being connected to the convention centre. Last second change of plans as had to bring our teenage daughter alone to the recent event we attended but felt very looked after by Jordan at the front desk as she helped us out.

Yet another hotel that acts according to the typical customer harrassment playbook. They'll make all sorts of noise at night and in the morning near your room, slam doors, hit walls, drop heavy objects on the floor. They'll ignore your calls or hang up on you. That's done in order to sleep deprive you, to stress you out to the point of a misdemeanor or to make you forget your credit card or simply because they are frustrated and jelous of their customers. They did not get any reaction from me from the noise, so they kept turning off electricity in my room just to disturb my stay and get an excuse to enter my room. These kids however became quite upset when I requested a partial refund and the proof of refund to be delivered to that same malfunctioning room they were so keen on visiting earlier. I felt like I was in a kindergarden. Look, if you dont want to be bothered by guests, then dont bother those guests. And if you dont like your job, then go follow your dreams intead of harrassing customers. Its a free world, no one is holding you. In every family someone started from zero at some point. Harrassing your customers is an offence. I had a video camera that filmed all that noise and electricity harrassment and I'll be discussing it with lawyers at some point.

We came on a weekday for a little staycation through a red balloon voucher 🎈 Pros: Valet parking and a buffet breakfast was included, along with a bottle of sparkling on arrival. The room came with a balcony that had the perfect view of the ferris wheel and city skyline. Cons: We had to wait three hours until the sparkling wine was delivered, even after asking. The floor we were positioned on was being painted, and the fumes were incredibly toxic and the debris remained all afternoon and night only to be cleaned the morning of our departure. Unfortunately due to the rain we were also unable to access the pool bar. On the whole, the service staff and quality of the rooms are okay. The whole experience was just left lacking due to the above cons. The hotel is perfectly located for access to nearby eats, bars, galleries, shows and museums. Given the price point however, I would have expected a greater experience on the whole. Update: The hotel also charged us an additional $295 days after our trip “by accident” despite the fact we paid via a redballoon voucher. Very disappointing. After calling to confirm it was refunded, I had to contact the bank to also cancel another pending transaction from the hotel for $195. A week and a half later, no refund had been received so I called ten times with no response and only after emailing received a call back and a discovered no refund had been issued after all. The staff require further training to understand that assurances of refunds should not be made without action, and that mistakes of this kind should not occur at all. The guy who committed to refunding today was only in his first week so I hope this is an indication that mistakes like this will not occur again. Needs less to say, will not be returning due to the above lack of care and customer service.

We really enjoyed our five night stay recently. The location is fantastic and all staff members were highly accommodating and welcoming. The valet parking was well used by us and on every occasion, the Valet Team acted in a timely and professional manner. The room was clean and comfortable and facilities were excellent. The Christmas lobby set up excited our son each and every time we walked through which added to the joy of our stay. Thank you Rydges, Southbank. We will be back!

I attended a lovely baby shower in a privately booked room. It was a special experience. The room was beautiful and opulent, and the service was excellent. Unlimited wide selections of teas and well presented and tasty treats; the scones were impressive! I would visit again.

Perfect location with beautiful views of the river. Valet parking. Didn't need our car as we could walk or use free transport options nearby. Rooms clean and very comfortable. Buffet breakfast was just what we needed to start the day. Pool looks great but we didn't use it

Mother and sister in law staying here over the Easter weekend. Hotel double charged for the room so that’s over $1000 that they now have to wait for and have no money. 50% off of one meal was offered In compensation and they checkout on Monday. Yeah real nice 😡 I have worked in hotels before in sydney and have never dealt with such disregards towards guests before. Guess they don’t want returning guests. They could have offered a few meals at the very least since this was there own fault.

Went here for an event last month. The view was amazing. One of the servers (Brunna?) was extremely helpful and went above and beyond in making sure those with dietary requirements were able to get food before going to the main crowd. Overall very nice venue.

Firstly I would like to make clear that ALL the staff I encountered were great, friendly and super helpful which made the stay comfortable and cruisey. The second thing is THEY ONLY HAVE VALET PARKING. This is a huge thing to note if you’re trying to save money like I was on my trip. I think it price of valet parking was $55 a night from the signage out the front but I could be wrong. I was in room 1027 so I can only speak on that layout. The room was spacious and the beds were massive and comfortable (soft to medium firmness). My room had a view of the river which was nice to wake up to in the morning but you do occasionally get the street noise (wasn’t too bad at all). Small details that annoyed me were the bathroom I stayed in didn’t have an exhaust fan and I like my showers HOT! The condensation made everything really wet. Also. The faucet hanging over the basin didn’t have enough hang over the oval bowl so it was awkward and annoying to wash your hands & rinse your mouth out after brushing your teeth. On the note of noise I was there around Melbourne Cup and there was a party on their pool deck which was loud and did drain into room a bit. That is something to note if you’re on lower levels or do like the balcony door open for some fresh air. This is possibly a rare occasion and can’t speak on how often they have parties down there. A part from that the location was amazing with a lot of public transport nearby if where you’re going isn’t walking distance. The accessibility to amazing restaurants and tourist destinations is right outside the door which I loved as a foodie. I didn’t take any pics of the room but will upload one I took of a building across the river because more google points haha I would 100% stay again.

We stayed here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we asked to be on the highest floor and for a bottle of sparkling wine. They gave us the highest floor and a bottle of sparkling wine and chocolates at no charge to celebrate.

Recently stayed at this hotel for the first time with friends for a leisure stay. Beds and pillows are so comfortable, room well appointed. Bathroom fit out was beautiful, love the big bath tub too ! Great location, close walking distance to so many park areas, restaurants and cafes. Pool very small and shallow but perfrct to cool down on a hot day. I'll be back.

Family weekend away, kids were so excited being so close to the museum and Southbank. Concierge was so helpful with luggage, girl behind the desk courteous. The room staff were the most friendly - helpful, keeping rooms clean and tidy. That is where it ended! Front desk became rude, making us feel like fools, telling us not to walk down and ask a question about logging into wifi and chromecast (once they had your money, decency exited the building). We weren’t aware of off premises parking (not a big deal, but yet another cost). For freshly renovated rooms the beds seemed old and uncomfortable. For paying well over a grand for 2nights this is not what one would expect of such a professional team. Rydges asked if I would like a call back after giving feedback, certainly replying with a “yes”, not holding my breath as it was over 3moths ago. Won’t be back!

Great location and friendly service. The rooms are somewhat updated; however, my room wasn't the cleanest. Pretty dusty, light switches were grimey, TV remote control was very dirty, and the balcony was pretty rundown looking as well. Still not bad for a short stay. The location definitely makes up for the majority of my concerns.

  • 3/5 Elizabeth E. 1 year ago on Google
Lovely room, and very comfortable bed, but a tiny bathroom, which could be dangerous, with poor water drainage on the floor. Disappointing to not see complimentary water, and tea (other than black tea) as a standard inclusion, and small tea cups, and no mugs. Unfortunately my room was positioned right near the lifts, as well as being directly opposite the staff access door for bringing up room service etc, so it was very noisy.

From the time we arrived, and were greeted by Gina, the Concierge, until she farewelled us on checking out, we were very well looked after. All staff were friendly, extremely helpful , professional and efficient. The room was spotless, very well appointed and comfortable. Hotel facilities were excellent.

Great hotel, location, service and rooms. Would be perfect and 5 stars if it was not for the extremely strong perfume in the lobby which is way too strong and overwhelming. I think the hotel management (for the chain, not this particular hotel) should think about how strong fragrance can affect asthmatic people and avoid imposing them to others

  • 4/5 Rebecca K. 1 year ago on Google
Great location, well appointed rooms. A couple of issues, one is that the outdoor pool is not heated and really should be in winter and the spa, gym and sauna had a terrible smell that made them unusable. Very disappointing for the kids.

Currently in hotel quarantine for a few days, the room is comfortable, staff is friendly and helpful, food is very good, take note of my dietary requirements in detail and serve different types of food everyday. Well done!

I did not realise they still sold single ply loo rolls. For a supposing 4 star hotel some of those important comforts were missing. Including the lunch/coffee bar not opening until 12. When I am working in the hotel room I do not expect to have to walk down the street to get a coffee, you do not have to open to the general public but you have the facilities so at least have some system for guests. Buffet Breakfast was always luke warm, when placed onto the very cold plates it made for a hardly edible breakfast. Staff were polite enough but seemed to be hampered by poor equipment and systems. I will not be using them again and will think twice for other hotels in the group.

An awesome stay. Great location and a really comfortable room. Stayed in a 1 bedroom suite that had its own bar, dining table, business desk and lounge.

A lovely hotel in a great location. The balcony and bath in my room were wonderful. The AV set up was excellent as well, except the HDMI input on the input panel doesn't work, but the screen sharing does eventually once you get your head around it.

Amazing rooms and in house restaurant CBD!! The reception staff were so helpful throughout my stay! I had some issues with my own phone and Sophie stepped away from the front desk to help me and then proceeded to give me amazing food recommendations for a birthday dinner after the original restaurant I booked cancelled last minute! 😊 Cannot wait to be back for more amazing service and the best beds!!

We stayed in the suite and paid for the decadent package. Rooms were very spacious and modern. Staff were fairly good with a few lapses though. Room service was good. If you stay on the left side of the building you still can get city views without paying for it!

Pretty cool Rooftop Bar, although there re better views in Brisbane. The place was jam packed for a Monday night, but it was most likely related to the Event in the Convention Centre. Decent Cocktails and worth checking out.

Valet parking, Concierge, Reception, and In-Room Dining Service all very good. The King Suite was spacious, modern, clean, comfortable, and had a great bathroom. The room service was very prompt and of high quality. But the servicing of the room was not consistently completed. Overall a very pleasant stay in the heart of Southbank Brisbane.

Services 5 - They are professionally trained Room 3 - the room is a bit dusty and the bed is too old and soft. My body hurts after a night of sleep Facilities 3 - I didn’t use the facilities but the swimming pool is a bit small and the spa/jacuzzi is under maintenance. As well as the valet parking is expensive, it’s cost $55 per night and there is no self parking Location 5 - location is perfect Overall, a four star hotel

I wasn't staying there but visiting a friend for a few hours. The room that I saw was very nice and well presented. Nice big bed, good view to Mount Cootha, and the amenities were very nice. We went swimming, and the pool area was large and had great seating areas. The pool was clean and was not deep at all. There were steps leading into the pool, which was great for me as I still have to use a stair rail for a few more weeks. The only thing that was a bit of a drawback was that the music was a bit too loud for ease of conversation. We had afternoon tea in the lobby cafe - flourless chocolate cake and coffee - it was delicious. The advantage of the hotel having valet parking was that I didn't have to fight for a car park around South Bank, and I was very thankful for that.

Booked a room with 2 queen beds and when I arrived there was only 1 king bed. When I called to say we have been given the wrong room they advised me that I had been upgraded to a suite and there was a pullout sofa. This was extremely uncomfortable and not at all what we paid for. Valet staff were lovely however the front desk staff were quite unfriendly.

Clean rooms. Good facilities. Well equipped gym. Close to QPAC. Only thing spoiling the stay was nothing to do with the hotel....it was Bob Dylan's musical "The Girl From The North Country" which was a bleak, nihilistic, depressing jigsaw. Left at half time and came back to the hotel for a (fairly average) hot chocolate. Cafe down the road called Ma Pa Me was extraordinary. Had breakfast at the more comfortable and appealingly designed dining room of the Mantra a few 100m down the road.

Excellent location, south bank great side of city to accom on. The view from hotel was outstanding. Staff were always helpful. The cafe food was always yummy. Just a walk to other restaurants and bars, stroll to streets beach great inner city swimming area. Room service food arrived still hot and presented very well. My only complaint would be room make over everyday replenishment of coffee, sugar, teatowels was always forgotten, tho they always were quick bringing items missed to our room

This is a great location. So good in fact that we have booked to stay again. The room was comfortable. Only issue was a lack of places to hang bathers to dry after a swim in the hotel pool or the public pool/beach (which is a stones throw away). There are so many restaurants within easy walking distance too as well as a playground that our kids loved. Staff were friendly. All in all definitely recommend. Updated 14.3.2023 - We went back after other travel in Queensland and Rydges delivered again. Unfortunately, we were unwell during our return stay and required extra assistance with a bedding change and also a late check out to avoid being unwell out in public before our next travel arrangement. The staff happily arranged this for us.

Great hotel in a fantastic location. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The facilities were lovely and room was very clean. Food in both the restaurant and room service was also very good. Highly recommend! We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Brisbane.

Great location. Clean rooms. Has balconies which is great ! You can sit and enjoy Brisbane’s weather. The breakfast is lower than average. So basic which might you can get from outside for 20. To contact housekeepers you need to call reception because they never answer. Very slow service. Definitely needs improvement. But in general our stay was Ok.
