Upon arrival we were made aware that we couldn’t have our drinks from another store inside. Fair call I know places that enforce this , it didn’t actually cross our minds. The we were put into the smallest corner next to the drinks fridge. There were plenty of available seats throughout the restaurant. Then once we had ordered it charged our card but didn’t place the order through the QR code. So we had to pay again and order with the lady. Hopefully will get that refunded soon. The food came out hot and fresh. The gyoza were pretty standard , the salad was super fresh and basic which I liked. The sauce for the curry was decent and I got the spicy which had a good kick. But putting us in the weird little corner and making us pay twice wasn’t great and it kinda ruined our experience. Won’t rush back. EDIT: 1 star now , originally rated 2. In response- Staff should have just declined service other than making me and my friend feeling less than. Citing covid and health and safety reasons is pretty sub par. They were sealed and commercially prepared. Making our experience unenjoyable sounds a bit odd in hindsight. Thanks for replying though.

The chicken curry here is amazing! The chicken is very crispy and the curry is very rich and a great consistency. I've also had the gyozas and they are really nice too. Served with a sort of spicy soy that suits them very well. Prices are very reasonable too!

I came here cause I was told it has the best vegetarian Japanese food in the city. My gf had the vegetarian spicy miso while I got a regular tonkotsu. Every time I go to a new ramen place I always get the plainest tonkotsu as a gauge. It was like a time gap of 20 minutes between the two food items. The tonkotsu showed signs of rushing like not fully sliced egg, cold and thick pork, noodles still stuck together. Bro, it's 9pm and the whole place was empty!! Then there was the incredibly strange waitress. She was white and spoke with an Australian accent, but we noticed she switched to this Japanese accent with other customers, including an Indian couple. Like what???? She was also really rude. After giving a spiel about endless karaage night for like 10 minutes, my girlfriend politely explained she was vegetarian and that we've already ordered. The waitress literally scoffed and responded 'well how was I supposed to know that?' Honestly I wish I had a better experience but wow. Just wow.

I am a regular customer at Okuman for the last 4 years as I lived nearby and tonight decided to have dinner here with my wife as I saw the okonomiyaki (one of my fav dish here) was on half price. Ordered an okonomiyaki with pork and egg and wait for abit for the food. When the okonomiyaki finally arrived and I tried the sunnyside up egg and found that it was way overcooked to the point where it tasted like a piece of rubber. So I asked the waitress to exchange for another properly cooked egg. The waitress brought the food back to the kitchen and after an exchange with the chef brought back the same egg and told me that the chef said that the egg was properly cooked, not raw and safe to eat. Apparently a professional chef thinks that a overcooked rubber-like egg is 'properly cooked'!!?? Was it because the okonomiyaki was on half price, so the chef decided to put in half the effort to cook it? Or perhaps the chef lacked the professionalism to even put in the basic care to ensure he cook a simple sunnyside up properly? Very very disappointed and left without touching my okonomiyaki. Also, noticed that the service levels here seems to have gone down considerably reecently over the years I frequented this place. Had a unfortunate incident with a rude waiter here couple of weeks ago as well. 2 incidents in recent times which is really sad, because I used to love this place. GY

Used to be my favourite Japanese restaurant where I always took friends and even dates. However, after tonight I will consider other options. Had to pay twice for a meal because they said they didn’t receive my payment when I showed them my bank statement, my apple wallet and I even saw my order on their system pending. I showed proof of purchase but was treated like a criminal. They say they will refund it but the point is I should not have been ambushed at the end of my meal after waiting for it for a significant time to have to pay twice. They say will refund in 10 days. Hope they won’t let me down again. On top of this, the dishes have become smaller and less visually appealing. The flavours were not there. Generally the quality of this restaurant has deteriorated. Shame. Edit: for them to suggest it’s an insufficient funds issue is really shameful when I paid twice for my meal and was charged twice. I paid electronically first and secondly in hand with card. Both payments came out of my account linked to my card. What an awful response.

🚩 Delicious food + Few good vegan options. 🈵 Authentic Japanese place with very nice service, The staff are as nice as usual. 👀 been visiting this restaurant since a few years ago, it was the best Japanese restaurant around where I live. Sashimi was very nice but overall menus are a bit disappeared because they were doing better before. Which this is the reason why I took two stars away. 📸 Instagramming place, Great atmosphere. The best Japanese restaurant in Brisbane I've found so far. Casual dinning but great service and amazing food. Really reminds me of being in Japan! 😍

My sexy husband (can you tell he wrote this review?!) first brought me here years ago, and I loved the food and the authentic service we received. We keep coming back and are happy to always receive the same quality food and service. I highly recommend you try dining here.

The food was outstanding! We loved the Okonomiyaki, Ramen, and fried chicken. The miso soup was also exceptional, and the salmon avocado hand roll was incredibly fresh. We're looking forward to coming back on our next trip to Brisbane. The only thing to note is that they don't accept cash. Thanks for the great meal. 😊😊

I had a great time at this restaurant. The waiter was one of the nicest waiters that I’ve ever had. The food was great and not expensive I would definitely recommend it. It’s a 10 out of a 10 Must seen

Disappointing. Walked in expecting good food. However, food is no where close to acceptable quality. Highly question how this restaurant is still open. Would not recommend to anyone. Does not represent Japanese food at all.

Such a great find. Their home made tofu was extraordinary as was everything else we had. Also has a good range of vegetarian dishes. Would love to go back and try all of them.

Nice food, price is fine. Not the greatest ramen I've had (certainly tasty) but brought up to 5 stars by atmosphere, restaurant cleanliness and very friendly staff dressed in traditional garb as an added extra.

Holy wow the food here is incredible! Very decent servings too! Staff apologised for a wait that was hardly very long. The bento boxes are very generous for such a price. Best part is you use a QR code to order so you can take as long as you want with looking at the menu. Truly a great place

Ramen was quite spicy exactly describe as it looks, but portion wise it is relatively small compared to the price. However, overall it’s still good ramen If possible have the soupless option too will be good. The place is relatively crowded so it’s best to book before dining in.

A fabulous dinner out with friends, where everyone really enjoyed their meals. We had karaage chicken, gyoza, rice meals and ramen. Everything was fantastic in taste and generously sized. Also good Japanese beer selection. Really enjoyed the black lager. I would totally recommend this place.

Pretty good izakaya at West end. Was very busy but ordering with phone/QR code helped. Had karaage, spicy karaage, agedashi tofu, Salad, kobou no kakiage, gyoza, assorted sushi.

Dropped in for a quick meal on my own & it's nicely set up for this where solo diners can sit at the bench. Friendly Japanese waiter who took the time to chat, even though busy. I had the $22 Bento Box special... basic nice food.

Tonkotsu ramen was delicious, broth is rich and creamy. Comes with a whole egg (2 halves). Only 2 slices of chaashuu is included. Noodles were a little bit softer than I would like. Suntory Premium Malts is usually available on tap but not the day that I visited.

Busy restaurant in West End, was able to get a table with a short wait. Food was good but I was not blown away by anything. We ordered chicken karaage, salmon sashimi, okonomiyaki and some sushi. I would go back and try the ramen. Ordering is via iPads on the table which is great for ordering drinks and extra food.

Stopped by for some snacks. Chicken karaage is the absolute best. In fact, I think that’s one of the best karaage in Brisbane. Their ramen looks good too, will try next time. However, not enough fresh air in the restaurant (smells funny actually) and the table is kinda greasy as well.

The worst. I had to wait for 1.5 hrs for uber eats delivery. This is what I got for $11 curry. Just a small piece of vegetable croquette. Please don't order from there. They owed me an apology

Really enjoyed their chicken katsu curry. The curry was flavoursome, had a good consistency and just the right amount of heat. The chicken katsu, nice and crunchy. Definitely one of the better ones in town. The place had a nice ambience, food was of good quality, portion and price. Staff were also very friendly.

I ordered a Keisan Don that costed 28 dollars, when it came the bowl was only half filled with just a handful pieces of sashimi. This is absolutely overpriced and the experience is not nice. I would say this is the worst value in town. I feel robbed and will never visit again.

Maybe I am wearing mask walk in the restaurant and the staffs being rude to me and my girlfriend. Food is not bad at all. Btw I highly recommend don’t wearing mask to take meal in here even though you want to protect yourself only. Staffs will act so rude. Just go to the city and try the “Koto Sanpo Cafe” they are the best Japanese restaurant in Brisbane city!

Orders the veggie ramen and the broth was extremely tasty! Noodles were cooked to perfection and the large bowls they served the ramen in was such a novelty experience! Only downside is the serving is quite small, not very filling, however the option of adding extra noodles is there.
