Lovely little deer sanctuary tucked away near the mountains . If your an animal lover you cannot help but be impressed by the owners care and effort . $5 entry so a super bargain. It’s just one paddock basically with about 15 deer . A few goats and cows , chickens and a peacock. It can get busy . Not a big area so you don’t feel crowded but it did feel like we were fighting over deer attention. You can spend as long as you want there . I think most people would spend maybe an hour .

Definitely worth a visit. Great, no frills set up. Friendly staff. Very affordable. The deer & other animals look well cared for. You can buy pellets to feed the deer or just pay to pat them inside their paddock.

There are plenty of deer to pat and feed. You also can pat goats, cows and guinea pigs. This lovely place exceeded our expectations with only $5 ticket.

Beautiful rescue sanctuary that is totally hidden away … very quiet and so peaceful. The animals are all rescues and there is a lot of love obvious here. The deer are friendly and gentle, they LOVE the attention and treats lol…. The animals are well looked after and this was definitely worth the beautiful but long drive …..

I have never seen deer before so I was an amazing experience for me. Located in the beautiful Mt Samson area. The lush tropical vegetation and mountainous backdrop make for a perfect combination of animals in nature. It was so awesome to be able to hand feed the baby deer and an experience I'll never forget. They also had cows, goats, chickens and a peacock which were all amazing aswell. A great place to take your kids and definitely a place I want to take my own daughter when she comes over from Perth for Christmas. Affordable and worth it for any family to enjoy.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time at the sanctuary. The deer are so beautiful and friendly and it was a perfect photo opportunity! We could purchase deer feed for about $2/bag and the deer loved to be fed! Really great hands-on experience. There were lots of kids there too - it's a great family destination

Flat price for group, fun time, the more “friendly” deer have a little ribbon around em signifying they might be a little more touchy. Great for families

What a lovely place!! 🦌🦌🦌 Plenty of deers to pat. They also have goats, cows and guinea pigs. Big kids covered playing area and picnic tables. My suggestions to the owners - sell coffee and pastries and raise entrance price, $5 is too cheap for this lovely place and your hard work. Will be definitely coming back

We love visiting this local deer farm, always friendly and our little one loves feeding the deer's. However this time the guinea pigs were the highlight, having a cuddle and feeding them. Beautiful experience to visit.

Great experience, if you wanna see/touch a deer definitely go. It's quite small, basically a single paddock with a half dozen deer and a cow but the price of enter is cheap so worth a visit.

Went to Lyell Deer Sanctuary for the morning on Sunday. Had no i deer what to expect but this place was awesome. Firstly the owners are lovely and it’s genuinely all about the animals. Very causal and easy to get around. Also had no i deer that this place looks after rescued animals which was really cool. Bag of feed for the deer with entry fee which was crazy cheap so really good if your bringing the family. All in all this place was a heap of fun and just a lovely place to be! Would highly recommend!

Really enjoyed our visit here over Easter. Interactive and unique experience with these beautiful animals. Definitely worth a visit - No cafe or anything on site, toilets yes. Can feed the animals. Thank you for rescuing and caring for them.

My partner and I went there and it was such an amazing experience for us both. The deer, goats and cows were so adorable and her and I's face both lit up at how friendly and calm they all were. The woman who was running the counter seemed so knowledgeable, but also friendly and inviting. I would recommend this to anyone. It seemed super family friendly and honestly, all ages there were having fun! Nice to take some time out of a day and connect with calming animals like that.

Super friendly deers and nice host. Visitors will get surrounded very easily when they have pellets in their hand. FYI, better to bring another set of clothes to exchange :)

Tranquil deer sanctuary close to Brisbane is a great weekend activity for the family. Plenty of deer to feed and they are gentle with kids. Few other animals like cows, chickens goats etc. Plenty of shade and trees as well as toilets. Worth the visit

I love this place, it's peaceful to me, my daughter's and I go 3 times a year. It's wonderful to see wildlife wild, no cages, the manger lady is kind, wonderful, and generous. We are now proud sponsor's of a beautiful cow 🐮, this place makes us all happy and it's good to see these beautiful animals rescued ❤️

My partner and 2 year old daughter came out today and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. If your looking for something to do with the kids this is a great, cost effective, outdoors outing which also supports a great cause , this is worth the stop off. Deer are a true testament to their caretakers and are in fantastic condition and very relaxed. We loved the kids corner full of great toys for our toddler to play with , she really enjoyed her time here. Thanks for providing these deer with a good home and sharing them with the public ❤️

Very sweet place! Disappointing to see negative reviews because it’s not a large-scale zoo experience (which it doesn’t claim to be) - it’s an animal sanctuary with incredibly affordable admission and very cute and well cared for deer!

Great place for a day trip with your kids, family friendly. Lots of variety of deers, that are all rescued. Friendly owner who was very helpful. they have a sink where you can wash hands after handling deers. Very cute place

A perfect place to bring young kids. They offer deer food bags for a good price to feed the deer. You can also pat and play the deer in their enclosure.

Adorable deer that like to be patted, only $10 for the group! Fun hour or two. 😊

A lovely family owned farm. A nice time feeding them from behind the fence as they are rather enthusiastic about the pellet food. A nice experience going into the field with them after feeding them also.

$10 for family and $1 for small bag of pellets to feed deer is exceptional value these days. It's great to spend an hour with children.

One of the best day out in recent times. Very natural set up. Deers were free to roam around and friendly. Host was very approachable. Nice place for picnic and very short drive from most parts of Brisbane. Also suitable place for a work meeting during the weekday.

Oh deer! I wish I knew about this place earlier! They were so cute 🥰

  • 3/5 Katrina B. 2 years ago on Google
Small deer sanctuary with cows, chickens and goats as well. Could use a spruce up - and maybe some grass instead of dry, dusty dirt around the picnic tables to make it a more enjoyable experience. The deer are very cute and the scenery is lovely.

This place was actually THE BEST The deers are so cute and friendly!! And the owner is so lovely too

A little disappointed but only because we thought it was going to be a bit more than a paddock with a few deer in it... Also July isn't the best time to visit as the stags are regrowing their antler and we were told they get quite aggressive. I believe the exact wording was stay away so we don't get 'stabbed' 😅 Not enough for a day trip but our toddler enjoyed the hour or two we spent here, bonus she didn't get skewered 🤣

Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. Bear in mind that it only costs $10 + $1 for deer food (which is an absolute bargain!) so don't expect a big commercial set-up with a full cafe etc. It was ideal for my toddler as he could toddle around freely and pat deer + feed the deer. Beautiful location too.

Adorable place - happy rescued deers living on the large property. Very sophisticated poultry - free roaming peacock was impressive.

Despite your needs in this troubling time be advised that this sanctuary is exclusively for deer. Aside from the misunderstanding we had a fantastic day.

Lovely little sanctuary and worth the drive! It's a nice change to have an animal experience that feels like it's operated by someone who cares about the animals more than they care about milking customers for every dollar. Bags of feed were only $1 so if you wanted attention from the deer, it wasn't hard to get it! The deer were very cute and friendly but unfortunately none of the other animals seemed to be around other than a duck & peacock wandering about. Guess that means I need a return visit!

Such a fabulous afternoon at Lyell Deer Sanctuary! I took my 3 year old daughter and we both had such a fabulous time. The deer are so friendly and there are even toys and books set up when you want to take a break. Extremely affordable ($9 for our whole afternoon!) and we had such a magical time. Would recommend!

We came for one of the Christmas packages in 2021 and had the best time. We got to adopt a reindeer (toy), get them checked out and decked out before meeting some real reindeer. The kids had a ball feeding them. For Christmas they also had a professional photographer and set up which was sent to us soon after. This was all amazing and time went by and I forgot to post a review. Recently my son was distraught after leaving his beloved Twinkle at another business (who did nothing to help - couldn't even do us the courtesy of advising us it wasn't handed in). In desperation I emailed Lyell to find out where they got their stock from so I could arrange a replacement. Kelly responded so quickly and had a fresher Twinkle out in the mail within hours. Great after service. We will be back soon.
