I didn't even know this place existed until a much cooler friend than us took us here after work. The music was amazing and the atmosphere fantastic. The place has a real genuine feel to it. The staff behind the bar were friendly and informative. Love it. I think I've found my new after works drinks.

I've been in Brisbane a few years now, and apart from the COVID( fear, oh you must FEAR it) I have struggled to find a live music venue that I really enjoy. The Brooklyn Standard bar has what I like in such a place : reasonable food and reasonably priced drinks; a warm intimate atmosphere; efficient and kind staff; and best of all a good line up of competent, good, even delightful local musical talent, that attracts music lovers of all ages. Great American style saloon bar with a nice vibe after 8:30 pm when the live band starts. If you want quiet chill vibe, go earlier. Would give it a 5 but buffalo wings shouldn’t be battered.

Dropped in for a late night drink with friends. What a fantastic bar! The staff are great at their job and super friendly, a live band had us dancing in minutes, and the atmosphere made us wish they stayed open all night.

Such a great place with Live Music even mid-week, we saw 'Bridget & The Queen St Cowboys' on a Thurs night from 9pm to 12, they were brilliant. The booths are super comfy and the Cocktails are delicious made strong ! Now one of my favourite places to go ❤

Definitely an awesome experience. We were meant to go there for few drinks only ended up staying their the whole night. Great live music and last band (don't know their name was amazing). Its old school Pub vibe, music, staff made an awesome night. I will definitely go their again 🙂

Nice 'New York' inspired basement bar which had the best live blues band. Everyone who was in the bar hit the dance floor and had the best time...Including my wife and I. We will definately go back again.

The vibe of the this whole place is unmatched. The live music, and all round good environment. Micheal or whatever the name of the security guard who gets up on stage and does the gutair solos… best guy I’ve ever met so humble but is the greatest musician definitely a light of the club along with Courtney the bartender!! Highly recommend !!

45 minutes waiting at 9pm on Saturday - well worth it when I entered Brooklyn Standard for the first time. Considering that the place had covid controls in place, the venue had limited numbers of seating and hence the wait. Once inside, the atmosphere was very welcoming, vibrant with music and the best thing I liked about was the crowd which varied from 20's to 50s. The staff were friendly and helpful. The band playing music was putting in 110% efforts to please the crowd and it was working. A good range of drink and the prices are the regular, nothing pricey. The place had a mix of an industrial and cosy feel which was amazing. The band played songs ranging from 80's to the latest from last week. I wish the place was more bigger so that people wouldnt have to wait to get in but I think it would still get full! This place bops till 3 am on weekends so a great place to hang out with friends for some drinks and catching some live music. Highly recommended.

A friend and I dropped in on Thursday night to tie one on, and I was not disappointed. It's an American-style basement dive bar with character, extremely knowledgable and friendly staff who make excellent cocktails, and the place is very well run. Really nice vibe from the crowd too, all smiles. The cover band was also great, very tight old rockers playing 70s covers. Love the place, will be back!

One of the best, if not the best, live music venues in Brisbane city. The atmosphere is great & the staff are amazing. If you love live music, then this is the place for you & your friends to hang out. There's a lot of variety with the music also, & you definitely need to try the cocktails here.

Awesome music, HOWEVER realised checking my account balance in the morning every time I ordered the same drink every time I ordered the price varied every time... Same thing happened to several of my friends that night. I would be cautious and recommend asking for drink prices and looking at the price on the eftpos machine in case staff are adding on a tip for themselves without your permission like they did for us. I would go again but this time I am much the wiser

I enjoyed the food and drinks were okay but my god the entire placed smelled like dirty feet and toe jam. Once a band started it became hard to hear myself think and I had to leave. Please clean the carpets the smell is so bad

Best bar in Brisbane with ease. Always tons of fun, amazing staff and service. The drinks are very well priced for the city and very fast paced service. Bartenders are well trained and know their stuff, plus friendly too! The place is perfect for all ages 18+ and won't disappoint for any type of night out. The live music is also great and awesome how they have it every night open! Couldn't recommend the place more especially Friday, Saturdays and Mondays! 10/10

Found by listening for the great music, a very hidden gem. Great array of tap beers, live jazz and arrived on the night once a month on a Wednesday where they welcome you on stage to have a go with the band, very welcoming, although at points a bit karaoke but nil complaints. Brilliant atmosphere, if you could smoke cigars it would be classic cellar jazz.

Cool bar, 2 vodka and cokes for $20 is reasonable. The music was not to our taste, but the setup of the stage and atmosphere was great. Security at the door were friendly and made sure the venue wasn't too packed. Would like to return and see music that we enjoy.

Love live music - went to dance - no signs or notices discouraging dancing or identifying the COVID-19 safe rules. Danced on the cleared dance floor and then got kicked out for dancing. The bouncer said “don’t you watch the news”... sorry Brooklyn Standard COVIDSafe rules are bad enough but getting bad attitude and kick out that really takes it too far. Not going back.

Place comes alive on a Friday night. Such a fun venue giving off inner city Brooklyn vibes (as the name suggests). Good mix of young and old. Very friendly staff and live music is great

Dancers beware: The security crew is over the top rude. They’ll kick you out without cause - they did it to 6+ ppl who were not causing harm / doing anything wrong. They have sticky beer floors. It may look like an NYC dive bar, but way less cool

Drinks were good , food was very average and expensive, you are paying for the view . Garlic pizza we had to share was crisp and burnt. Burgers we ordered were pretty bland and not great.

Always a great bar with live music and awesome bar staff. Very mixed crowd with young and old all having a great time. If you don't like your music loud go somewhere else.

OMG what a top little underground bar we stumble upon. Had a cranking live band, and even better the clientele were a similar age, which strangely kind of made us feel younger again! Loved it!

i just wanna say a massive thank you to the workers at this place. i went out here last night and was assaulted, and watched the guy assault several different girls, and when i alerted the staff they were incredibly helpful and supportive wanting to catch the guy and ban him. i live in the uk, and incidents like this happen all the time and are never taken seriously but the bar manager, adam offered me so much support - even helped me fix my makeup when i was crying and gave us a round of free drinks and told us to let him know if we saw him again or if we needed anything. nothing but lovely people that work here and made me feel so safe after the incident. the vibe in here is amazing and the live music is super cool, i would recommend checking out this place !

To be honest mate, I walked into this place and it immediately smelt like feet. I walked down the stairs and couldn’t bare the smell any longer. I had to turn around and leave. Very gross smell. Wouldn’t hurt to invest in a few air fresheners.

I had a great night a Brooklyn Standard and Bluejay was absolutely talented. I was extremely impresssed. I always love Brooklyn Standard because of the musicians that play there, but when I walk in and heard Bluejay i was excited!

The BEST spot for live music every day of the week (bar Sunday) or even a chill hang after work! Underground and hidden away on Eagle Lane in the middle of Brisbane City, it'll be a place you'll never forget. Soloists and duos on weekdays, a dedicated in-house Mariachi band every single Monday, and bands from Thursday to Saturday (two acts each on Fridays and Saturdays), there's never a lack of action down there!! The bar staff are the friendliest people you'll ever meet too. What more could you ask for?! ❤️

What a great place! Bar staff were really friendly and seemed like they actually wanted to be there. Nice atmosphere, felt like I was in a bar in Brooklyn. The live entertainment on the night were just right for the place. Will be bringing my wife with me for a boogie next time.

I've always liked this place, great little underground bar tucked away in Eagle Lane, live music, dim lighting. Great NY speakeasy vibes. Only downfall is when it's packed. Not the venues fault, it's only a small bar after all. 4 out of 5 stars.

Great location, Bar design are so great and its pretty amazing twitness and enjoy the live band during my visit here. Had a fantastic time last month with my bestfriend we enjoy singing to all the song that the band plays. Highly recommended!

The place is ok to visit. Bit of a bad smell when I was there. Drinks are affordable. Trying to find out which band is playing is a bit of a task as you have to go to their Facebook page, and it's not easy to find out.

Great live band venue. We went for essentially what was the pre entertainment for the later show. Music was pumpin, drinks were flowin and everyone was seemingly having a great time. The venue posts the weeks entertainment on social media at the start of the week so you have time to look up artists and attend events you will like. Would recommend to anyone who loves live music! P.s. don't come here for a quiet chat with mates, you will be shouting over the entertainment

My experience was one of 50 humiliation, security person 621 decided that as a 60 year who lent on the bars, while chatting to others in the line, was enough to exclude me from the group. By no means was I inebriated to any level, at least no any more than the others from my family lining up to have a dance to live music from my family. Rude & judgemental, disgusting, I will share my experience far & wide as a business owner of a not fior profit org for women I stand by my rights. - your judgemental & exclusive venue should be exposed for what it is & as a tip engaging bogfhesds to control your entry is a bad idea .. some intelligence doesn’t go astray, will share far & wide & not attempt to enter your premises again -take note those older than 30… some updated dropouts will judge you & decide if your good enough or not 👍👍. You Wouldn’t have a clue .,. Brocklyn Standard - will share this experience on socials & far & wide & will share in my regular slot on radio. Disgraceful -For those searching in reviews -don’t go there .. it’s prejudice & too exclusive … not pleasant & security are prejudice & embarrassing don’t go there . ..

Great venue

I love this place to take 2-4 drinks, specially Monday night cause there a mariachi band at 8pm. The illumination is a bit dark, so makes you feel in a popular Brookline place.

Okay so the live band music is great! but employees looked really hostile and unfriendly. We paid $8 for fries and they gave us BURNT bitter fries. When i took the fried back to the counter, their excuse was ‘because they have skins on them’ and i was dismissed, they didn’t bother replacing. I’ve never seen fries look like that. What a shame because we traveled from the gold coast to be there.

Absolutely vibing little establishment. Staff are very friendly and welcoming, the food is excellent (hearty NY-esque pub food in the best possible way) and the music is great (a lovely mix of jazz, blues, funk and soul).

What an awesome venue!!! Had a great time, waited a while in line, but was well worth it. We came in tonight and the music was on point, the vibe was so high energy, even without dancing it didn't make a difference. More than anything though, the bartender that served me was amazing (the girl with orange hair and tartan face mask), the most attention to detail I've ever seen in a bar. Went above and beyond to prepare our drinks and they were delicious. One of the best Negronis I've had! Really excited to come back another time, thanks Brooklyn Standard!

What a great place for a get together with various styles of live music. The night we visited most recently there was a fabulous young female guitarist with a great voice who was totally in tune with the audience. She played requests and had everyone watching and dancing. It's good to have a venue where people can have a dance. We found this place to be of a great standard without being pretentious. There were groups and couples of all styles and persuasions there. Seems like a place where people come after a meal somewhere or meet up with friends. There was also some couples sitting at the bar tables and stools. The lighting is low and the theme of the place is obviously American. Lots of framed posters on the walls and timber staircase going downstairs from the street level. Remember you have to choose to go here .. you won't just stumble by it as it is down a small laneway. .Well worth it.

Knowledgeable bartenders who don't mind making you a drink just the way you like it and good customer service. The place is a cozy size and good for a casual drink with friends on a weekday. I imagine this place being way too crowded for weekends. They do have a better and reasonably priced liquor collection as compared to their beers. Would most definitely visit again and recommend to others.

Great little bar, good live music nice vibes generally. Highly recommend. Would give a 5th star but zero concessions available for anyone gluten intolerant. We're happy to let me bring in my own food if I wanted which was better than nothing. Would be nice to have some gluten free beers behind the bar at least.
