Pushed the boundaries of Vietnamese fusion… such delicious & decorate flavours. Re-writes the rules on fusion flavours. Highly recommend.

The food is decent, but better experiences can be had for the price. Skip Balfour if you frequent asian restaurants. The service was lacking - our water cups were empty for upwards of 10 minutes, we had to ask staff to refill them which I wouldn't expect to have to do at a restaurant at this price point. Staff were very friendly, but it's very odd to walk to the bathroom and have people's hotel rooms along the hallway.

First-rate dining experience, from the friendly wait-staff who make you feel like you've been friends for years, to the 5-star dishes that make you want to try EVERYTHING. We decided to indulge in a four-course dinner and have zero regrets. All of the meat was cooked to absolute perfection, and it was fantastic learning about some of the cooking methods from our host.

I went there for my friend’s birthday and we ordered taste it all for the table to share. We three really enjoyed the food. Every plate gave us surprise especially the dessert. Thank you! We will be back definitely!

Very romantic and lovely restaurant. We haven’t heard about this place at all up until recently when stumbled across it on Google. The garden is very romantic during nighttime. The staffs were quite friendly and very welcoming. We’re vegetarian and food options are definitely not lacking of variety! Definitely recommend for a date night 😍

Had a breakfast gnocchi and prawn crumpet. Both were very nice. Good amount of food! Brekky gnocchi has mushroom inside! This mushroom has really savory, umami taste! Prawn crumpet was also good. Salad? Was on the top of soft bread. Cucumber, prawn and some other stuff was mixed all together. Combination was good. Coffee was okay😄 all staff was really friendly and kind! They have a hotel as well so, you can stay and have yummy food and drinks as well at night. Nice mood and interior

We enjoyed dining at the Balfour kitchen and bar as much as we enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Outstanding service and a very well curated menu with exceptional flavours and technique to bring you a great dining experience. We opted for the 'taste it all menu' at $80pp and we left very full and very happy. The beef cheeks are my recommendation.

We had the most wonderful dinner here the other night, myself and 4 friends. Our sever James was impeccable- and did a glorious job. Keep him, and protect him at all costs. We enjoyed the Taste it All banquet, which was kindly changed to suit the vegan and non-fish eater. The food was delicious, and came out quickly. My only complaint is that there was one fish between 4 people, and the substitute for the fish was a mere 2 slices of, albeit very tasty, roast pumpkin. We had hoped a fish dish would be substituted with a meat dish. Other than that - we had a beautiful night and I can’t wait to return!!

I went there on san valentines for breakfast the restaurant was quiet not too many customers We ordered then after the food come out nobody asked if we would like some black pepper or ask how the food was we where just left alone I wanted to order and additional poached egg but nobody was around and when I did ordered she forgot to bring it Food very average don’t understand why Vietnamese influence breakfast doesn’t make any sense it was very very busy in the past 3 years when you had traditional breakfast with French toast that was super yummy The service is arrogant and fake Won’t come back again!

A bit disappointed. The duck was served with one piece and not value for the price. The sticky beef cheek was not stick or wet rather it was over cooked. I hope the meals improve in value and quality. Very nice atmosphere

Another fantastic experience. Service was exceptional, food so incredibly delicious and cocktails quick and yummy. A happy birthday chocolate was a nice touch on the dessert. There's a reason we keep coming back.

I have always loved the Balfour in the past but not today. There is no one to greet you at the door, and it took a while to find a sign that said to go via reception - why? Others we saw arrive later were jsut as confused and in the end just walked up the front stairs. When we got inside there were three staff members all standing around the till. One told us to grab a table and someone would be right with us. That took quite some time. Our food orders took 45 minutes to arrive. The place wasn't busy. No one came back to our table other than to deliver the initial water and then food to see if we wanted a coffee. We actually walked back inside to place out order as there were no wait staff around so that we could do so. Breakfast was tasty but less than generous. The Korean Bolognaise was nice, but for $23 I'm looking for more than a scraping of mince on (soggy) toast. In this current environment, eating out is a luxury and I need more value for our custom.

A stunning restaurant and hotel in a beautifully renovated old Queenslander. There a patio, balcony and indoor seating as well as a roof top bar. We ordered the tasting menu and loved every dish! My favourite was the beef brisket and the scallops were divine as well. We had our dessert at the roof top bar where there was views of the story bridge. Cocktails were lovely too! Thank you for a lovely dinner

The meal was good but very hit and miss. The broth as a starter was fantastic, and so many layers of flavour, but it was so spicy that it was difficult to even taste the rest of the starters. The sticky beef cheek was amazing! The barramundi in a strange pink sauce was not very...

My sister & I had the most beautiful lunch and afternoon at Belfour, overlooking the calming bamboo. The food was delicious, we could not fault anything . There was a great selection of Australian wine. The staff were so happy & friendly. The only downside was that we had to share the desert. It was too good . I wanted it all to myself. Thank you , I will highly recommend this restaurant. Michelle

I have been to this restaurant three times, once last year for Mother’s Day and it was fabulous. However, I returned twice in the last two months and cannot believe I was dining at the same restaurant. Slow service and I mean slow - 30 minutes for 5 cocktails and only another table was present. The food was underwhelming and below average and such a disappointment. Then our coffees never turned up and the waiter we asked wanted to know who took the order. Despite a lovely environment I certainly wouldn’t recommend this place if you are wanting something high end. Basic food, below average service on timing and delivery. I’m wondering if the management has changed as it’s nothing like it used to be. I wanted a break from cooking for a group on Christmas Eve and I regret it. I certainly won’t be doing that again, and felt I had to apologise to family as we were all feeling the same. Nothing festive about this lunch. Lift your game.

Five of us had a wonderful breakfast here. Many interesting, breakfast dishes, we all enjoyed our food. The turmeric granola was probably one of the best granolas I’ve ever had. The coffee was okay. The setting is lovely on a Veranda of an old Queenslander, and it flows into the garden. The prices were average, so it was cheap for an upmarket establishment. There is a Sunday surcharge of 10%.

  • 2/5 Clare B. 4 months ago on Google
Overall it was a very disappointing dining experience. The staff were lovely however the food was well below average. Brisbane is lucky to have an amazing food scene however the food on the set menu was disconnect and not enjoyable. I would not be rushing back.

Have eaten at Balfour twice before and had good experiences but last night was disappointing. At these prices service is part of the deal and it was lacking. We got the premium taste it all with paired wines. The courses were brought out with little explanation so we had to revert to the online menu to work out what was in the ingredients. The paired wines were the same - "this is a shiraz" was about as detailed as anything got. When I asked about the first liqueur which was served on ice I just got a brand name and a blank look which told me nothing. There was a long gap (more than half an hour) between two of the courses which was at least apologised for. Because of this it was getting pretty late by the time the dessert dish came out and we weren't asked if we wanted a coffee to finish (surely a standard operating procedure). There was that thing when we went to pay when they hand you the docket on the fancy folder with an expectation you'll put a tip on top. Given the circumstances this was never going to happen and was quite awkward and unnecessary. The food was still mostly great although the smoked duck (which was the reason we picked the premium menu) was kinda just blandly meaty. The top deck was full but the courtyard area where we were only had two other diners for the entire time we were there so I don't see a 'busy night' as an excuse. Disappointing.

  • 4/5 Marissa L. 1 year ago on Google
Really enjoyed brekky. Very small selection. It was not busy at breakfast time, so we thought the service would be good, but it was difficult to see anyone around to order another coffee, we did eventually. Coffee was very nice.

  • 3/5 Ishani S. 1 year ago on Google
Service was absolutely amazing and the venue was beautiful. However the food was quite a let down. We got the scallops, duck pancakes, lamb for our savoury dishes. The peanut butter parfait and lemon sorbet for the desserts. The scallops were okay, I’ve had fresher ones, the duck pancakes were quite good but the lamb was extremely tough. Our knives struggled to cut through the meat. The peanut butter parfait was extremely average and the lemon sorbet was quite nice and refreshing but overall not worth what you pay for. Food was presented quite well but I expected a bit more quality wise for a fine dining restaurant.

Our server Donna served us one of the best dinners I’ve had in a long while! Would highly recommend the beef. The perfect mix of savoury with sweet, these guys really know what they’re doing. A lovely restaurant hidden in the midst of a quiet suburb

Exceptional fine dining with high quality service to match. We tried quite a few dishes, they all looked and tasted fantastic Definitely a stand out restaurant in Brisbane and do make sure you head upstairs for a cocktail first.

Yes...do yourself a favour and come here for breakfast. Try the "something a little different" section of the menu. YUMMMM!!! Am sick of the same old breakfasts everywhere, and this place DID NOT dissapoint! Friendly staff, quick service, great coffee, DELICIOUS FOOD!!!

A lovely spot for a meal and the high tea was good, but not great. Had a great selection of sweets but we were disappointed that there were no sandwiches and the tea was made using tea bags which was a let down. Service was also a little slow, but the location was nice and relaxing.

This is such a wonderful relaxed place for a fabulous lunch, overlooking trees on a quiet street and yet very close to the city. The service was outstanding and the food was excellent. The rooftop bar has great views over the city and the sunset. I would highly recommend it.

Visited for both breakfast and dinner in 2019, very quiet restaurant with nice atmosphere! I love the bamboo screen lining the side of the restaurant! The breakfast is very healthy avocado toast & salmon salad. Great coffee too! The starter for diner is nice but the meat of the main courses is slightly dry.

Don’t expect noodles or run of the mill curry. This is expertly done , contemporary Asian. My recommendation is to go with the taste it all. Each serving is an all out assault on the pallet. You never know what to expect with every serving. The flavours are just captivating. Portion serving are generous too. Kudos to the chef and the team for meticulously putting together the menu. Attention to detail as each serving complimented the last one. This is one of Brisbanes hidden gems.

The Balfour Kitchen provides a total experience. We enjoyed the 'Taste it all' menu and were impressed with the skilfully balanced flavours of each dish. They are all so delicious and beautifully presented. The staff are polite, engaging and very knowledgeable with any aspect of the wine and food menu. The tropical surrounds allow you to indulge in a little escapism and melt away the daily grind. One of the best experiences we have had in Brisbane and looking forward to enjoying another dining sensation.

We had New Year’s Eve lunch there, where they provided a set lunch. The food was absolutely fantastic, the staff were very professional and gave excellent service, I assume they’ve had top notch training, nice and peaceful setting too. I’d only suggest to perhaps offer a pairing wine package as an option that compliments the set menu. Would definitely recommend though!

A hidden gem! We booked the festive season lunch for our special ‘I do’ day and it didn’t disappoint. We were after a laid back location suitable for our small group of seven and Balfour was just perfect. Amazing food! Well balanced, original fusion dishes enjoyed by everyone, completed with a moreish dessert! Good service and a very relaxed atmosphere. The ‘convict’ cocktail is delicious and the view from the rooftop bar made for some memorable snaps. Thank you team and Chef, you made our day! L&J

Thank you for an amazing menu and great service. My sisters and I enjoyed our time so much. The waitress and waiter (I forgot the waitress sorry but Dom also served us) were diligent in making sure we were okay. The food was amazing! Delicious from the start to finish and beautifully presented. Thank you

We ordered the $80pp tasting menu. Whilst the food was nice, the portions provided for our table of 6 were absolutely miserable. We also had poor table service - inexperienced, disinterested and impersonal. Long gaps between courses. I think they forgot us after the main meal. None of us will be back. Poor service and a poor meal shows something isn’t right here or at least not tonight. Most disappointed.

Ordered the Korean style spaghetti for breakfast. Besides a little hint of spice... it was pretty average, certainly nothing spectacular. At least it wasn't bad. Not sure whether I would come back to try more dishes on the menu.

I've been here twice and was impressed both times with the quality of both food and service. I managed to peek into one of the hotel rooms as well, and it looked lovely. If I didn't live in Brisbane I would stay here when visiting. The hotel is close to Howard Smith Wharves and a small park with fantastic views looking over the Story Bridge.

Delicious food and lovelt decor. They had a fresh coconut accompanied by a shot as a special on the menu. We ordered it. It was nice! Their coffee is sour but as long as you're OK with that you'll enjoy it. Anyway the coconut and coffee was $15 😂. Which I actually guessed it would be but my wife was shocked. I don't think that will put anyone off coming here though - it is a 5* boutique hotel after all. If come back for the food... maybe not the expensive softdrinks....

One of the finest Vietnamese food we ever had. Starting from the ambience to hospitality to quality of food - everything was just perfect. We celebrated our anniversary there and they made us feel special. They have an elaborate all you can taste $80 pp and ala carte as well, with an wide range of drinks. We went for ala carte, had drunk chicken, twice cooked duck, Vietnamese coffee glazed pork ribs, whipped banana marshmallow. Each one was a masterpiece in itself. Will come back for sure.

This is a beautiful venue and location and the food was excellent - we had the tasting menu which was adapted nicely for two gf guests in our party. The only thing that could be improved was greeting and service - there wasn’t anyone around when we arrived and it took a while for someone to show us to our table even after our booking was confirmed
