This is the worst hospital ever. My cousin was admitted there via ambulance. Later that afternoon I checked in talk to the doctor in charge and gave my contact information and all pertinent information concerning his medications and physical disabilities. His insurance, and, phone number. My cousin is a stroke victim and on dialysis. I shared what I felt I believed was wrong with him based on my 12 years of being his roommate and 10 years of that his caregiver. So I have a pretty good idea of what it is. And they acted like they weren't concerned and walked away no feedback nothing. The next morning I found him tied upto his bed by the wrists, bloodied and he could barely look at me let alone speak. I asked the female sitting on him, that was too busy playing on her phone to notice I was even there. "what happened to him?" She said "He kept scratching his nose and wouldn't stop pulling his 02 out until he made it bleed." I saw dried blood streaks from his forehead and nothing from his nose. Anyway, He didn't even recognize me. That ain't the way I left him! On the third day his doctor in charge finally asked me what medications he's on. and , I told her" I told you all that information on the first day." "Why are you asking me again",? "I thought you already had that information." After she confirmed what medications I told her that I provided he was on earlier, She ordered a third dialysis to remove the toxins from those medications that his kidneys would not filter. So he suffered for 3 days not knowing where he was at. confused and scared. Lethargic at best. Couldn't even recognize me. I was scared these people at Kaiser Permanente would call me at any moment to let me know he was dead. Today he was discharged. Just 4 days later. He still can't talk much. And when he does I can't understand him. Still can't walk well. I feel like I need to constantly check on him. to make sure he's really ok. My cousin has Medical because he's a stroke victim and is on a fixed income. I work hard at a part time job, just so I can pay bills. Because I need time to be there for him as a caregiver not only for him. But, I could never forgive myself if something happened to someone I care about and I wasn't able to make sure I did my best in the eyes of God. I was told he would have his 3 very important life preserving medications ready in an hour from discharge. So after I spent money for a taxi to get him home, that was outside my budget, I had to take the bus back to Kaiser pharmacy across the street to pick them up. They told me I needed to pay this insane copay amount and when I couldn't they said " Next" I almost cried! If everyone had a choice of hospitals to have the ambulance take people they love to. I'm almost positive this place would have to close it's doors for good.

I hate this place! No one loves hospitals or Emergency services, but this is made worse by unprofessional staff and poor organization! I spent 11 hours in the waiting room. Only to later find out, they misplaced my location( they placed me in) 5 hours prior; and never looked for me/ notated where they'd placed me. The intake doctor was snarky/rude and unempathetic towards my pain/concerns, nonchalantly, stating with the roll of the eyes, " We're all gonna die". They lost urine samples; multiple taken. Overall, a horrible experience. Kaiser Downey would/has NEVER! HARBOR CITY DO BETTER

I would give no stars if this was an option. Brought my friend in due to MVA at 20:24pm and 22:00pm we were STILL waiting in the waiting room. I do understand people are treated by level of severity, however they were waiting for a 50 year old woman to give a urine sample to determine if she was pregnant before a CT could be done. Ironically, this was not communicated until I went to see what was taking so long when there was only 3 people waiting when we first got there. She was triaged right away, though was made to sit back in the waiting room. Watching the guy registrar give the black lady coworker a shoulder massage while people are waiting was beyond unprofessional in my opinion. I’ve never been to a Kaiser facility and declined their coverage thru my employer. If this is indicative of the treatment their patients get I clearly made the right choice. I would NEVER recommend this facility to anyone regardless of the nature. County hospitals in worst areas give better treatment.

I’m convinced after several visits to this emergency department over the years the nurses and doctors that work in this department are anti black woman. I also have internal knowledge of how the Asian administration and nurses discriminates against black women within this hospital. This hospital needs to have an internal investigation of administration for the treatment of their patients that come into into their emergency department. In addition, there needs to be a round up of all directors and chiefs of the departments to evaluate their ethics and morals in the treatment of their patients and staff that are not of Asian and Spanish descent.

I absolutely loved my experience at this facility. Everyone was professional and made an effort to treat you as if you were family. I highly recommend this facility to any patients or traveling healthcare workers.

Congratulations! When is bad I say it, but when is great I have to say it too. Starting from the cleanliness, bathrooms, waiting room, reception, beds, all super clean. Nurses are compassionate and kind, attentive. Doctor awesome, treated me quickly, addressed my medical history problems. So thank you for all you do taking care of us when we are sick. May God bless you all with everything good in this life. 😊🙏

The ER doctors and nurses are great if you ever make it to the back. The wait time every single time I’ve come has been over 8 hours . This is ridiculous I’ve been to community hospitals that treat you faster then Kaiser. This is unacceptable. There are never any beds available and patients are leaving they’d rather be sick at home then be treated here .

I had a mammogram test today at Kaiser South Bay that I have been a member for more than 15 yrs there. I had a very unpleasant and obnoxious customer service ever at the Radiology dept, a technician named, LUCY AHUMADA who lost patience and not respecting to customer’s choice and comfort levels when asking questions before starting the test. I am very offended by her condescending attitudes toward an Asian woman whom she thought that I did not understand her questions. Also when I tried to take my bracelet away, she told me I don’t need to but I wasn’t comfortable wearing it in close to the radiology machine. She told me I am not following her instruction given no explanation why. I thought this is totally disrespectful for my choice of how to handling of my personal item. That is a simply worst experience ever in my entire years in Kaiser. I would be appreciative if Kaiser could have better customer services training and cultural sensitivities for workers who are meeting and serving with the diverse communities. I refused to get service with her and I am writing this review hoping that no one should ever be receiving this kind of experience at the hospital.

Went to the emergency room June 21, 2023. Was in alot of pain. Took about an hour to get seen. Had a good decent nurse named Mercedes, until she went home & was replaced with nurse Malo unfortunately. Long story short, they have a nightmare doctor named DR. APELO. An Asian lady who yelled at me & referred to my private area as a p*ssy. She neglected me for hours while in pain. She spoke to me like she was rushed & annoyed. She was a nightmare. Even though I was light headed, & I drove myself there, the charge nurse SYLEENA kicked me out at 3am after undergoing a blood transfusion.

I show up a 1/2 hour early as requested for my appointment with imaging and a hour and a 1/2 later I leave because they are so backed up that they hours behind schedule. Why even have appointments if you can't hold them? And now 2 weeks later. I still can't even make another appointment because they don't answer the phone and no way to leave a message. Avoid kaiser insurance at all costs unless perfectly healthy

Service representative Judith in the Harbor City Urgent Care and her colleagues were unhelpful. I came in to urgent care bleeding from a dog bite. They turned me away and said there was no service provider available. They were very rude and discriminatory in their language. There were discriminatory undertones in their language when speaking to me. I plan to file an official complaint and take further action as this has caused more medical issues because I was unable to be seen immediately. Do not go to this urgent care. They WILL let you die.

The doctors and nurses were very professional, respectful, and courteous. This place made my current health situation that much more easier to deal with due to the professionalism, cleanliness and comfort , and the private room at this hospital. Thank you, Kaiser.

Would love to get a job at this Kaiser location. I had to see a specialist. The earliest appointment was 1.5 months out. When I got to the hospital, at around 2pm, it was absolutely empty. There were literally 2 other patients besides me. Since I got there early, i had time to walk through every floor. It was literally a ghost town. Finally they called my name and I went in. I asked the nurse how her day was going, she kept complaining and telling me how busy they are. Unbelievable. Finally saw the doctor. I could tell he's in a rush, just trying to ask a few questions, check the boxes so he can go back to playing angry bird and leveling up his skills. It's really sad.

This is the worst experience at kaiser EVER! My room was supposed to be cleaned and sanitized before they brought me to my room. There was hair on the floor, a lot of unnecessary equipment in the room making it look like the storage room. In the restroom there was debris along the baseboards and around the shower. I was afraid to sit on the toilet and there were no seat covers. The custodians came in to do house keeping but did not give me new sheets. I’m not sure what they are in place for because the entire building is not being kept up well. The custodians appearance is beyond unprofessional. Just because you are a custodian does not mean they should not take pride in their appearance. The custodians job is a very important job. They are the backbone to any organization. I feel they truly need to be retrained. Now let’s talk about the staff…. I came in with severe chest pains. The medication they gave me would make me drowsy and give me a headache. The nurses sitting at the their station were very loudly talking and laughing as if they forgot where they were. When you press the call button it would take them entirely too long to respond. It’s after 9 am and breakfast has not been served. The tech doing the stress test left me lying there while he enjoyed a 15 minute conversation with his one of his coworkers who felt the need to drop by to talk about her kids. Meanwhile I’m lying on the table with extreme pain in my back. I could go on but this is ridiculous. I will never come back to this kaiser unless it is the “only option”. This is the hood at its greatest!

boyfriend and i went it because he was experiencing severe chest pain. went in at 10pm and didn't get seen by a doctor until 4:45am. i tried to ask at 3am how much longer we would have to wait, and i understand that everyone is tired and waiting and sick, but my boyfriend's chest pain was getting increasingly worse. the nurse cut me off in the middle of my sentence and said "the longest someone has been here is 6 hours." then slammed the window. my boyfriend tried to ask to get discharged, because they weren't helping and he would rather be in pain at home. she told him he wasn't allowed to leave until a doctor saw him, so we were just trapped waiting for a room for another hour and a half. at 5am they put him in a room and said "all your tests are normal, we don't know what's wrong and it's not our job to find out" and discharged him. basically spent 7 hours in the waiting room with rude staff only to be told to go home. boyfriend still in pain. worst er experience of my life.

If it was possible in my ratings I would give Kaiser South Bay a minus 5 it is the worst place ever , I went with my husband to the ER because of abdominal pain, the ER doctor did not even turn his face to see him he just keeps writing in his computer, after testing we waited for about 3 hrs for him to be put in an ER room where he spent the night the nurses were nice , but the floor was dirty I don’t even know if they sanitize the beds, my husband was admitted and was hospitalized for 5 days on day 2 or 3 of his hospitalization he asked the nurse if doctors round on patients because he was only being taking care for by the nurses so that day the doctor came to see him and after telling the doctor that we both my husband and I are doctors , the whole attitude changed, my husband was discharged with a phlebitis the IV was in for the 5 days he was hospitalized and like I said earlier do they sanitize the beds? I doubt it, we returned to the ER 2 days later because his arm was red and the veins were hard , he was seen by the ER doctor and again he did not even see his arm , we waited in the ER for more than 8 hrs and left without been seen he had an ultrasound of the arm and that was all, I wanted so I started him on antibiotics and the follow up doctor told him to stop them so he did and a few days latter the problem with the vein had traveled so I started him on antibiotics and he is fine now not due to the care received at Kaiser but because he was treated by me, I think if we had followed Kaiser advise he probably would end up with a severe infection and since he is diabetic may be an amputation . I DO NOT RECOMMENDED KAISER TO ANYBODY I hope my husband changes his plan to regular Medicare so he can go to a good hospital like me that I have my doctors at Cedars Sinai
