Definitely, not a wise choice. If you are looking at this review deciding to book a room, don't do it. Just pay a bit more for a decent place to stay. The windows didn't close, unbearable high moisture all over the place, the room with en suite bathroom was tiny rendering the stay really uncomfortable. Just go somewhere else. Do not pinch your pennies for this.

Hotel Elmwood offers basic and conveniently located accomodation at an affordable price. The place is within an easy walking distance of Kings cross station, along a row of Victorian houses turned into hotels. It's opposite a park (Argyle Square Gardens). The location is quiet and can feel a bit desolate at night. But it's safe. The room was small for a double and single bed, but it was clean. The room rent included breakfast, but I was in a rush in the morning and didn't partake. A few suggestions: 1. Please keep a separate shower gel and hand wash in the bathroom. A small soap cake provided makes it look very cheap! 2. In room 27, I couldn't find a plug point to charge my phone. So, I had to disconnect the TV to use the point. A spare plug point is a must. Overall, I rate it a strong 4 out of 5 for the price and location.

DO NOT BOOK TO STAY HERE!!! We arrived late evening to our basement level small room which if we had more time, would have left immediately. We knew that the rooms were all booked from the sign on the front door so we knew it was pointless asking for a swap. The first thing we did was get rid of live beasties from the floor, identifying then that the soap was a used block complete with the previous persons hair attached. The towels and mirror were dirty/mouldy and my daughter wouldn’t get in the bed after seeing the covers were mouldy and also had hair attached. None of us slept all night, we were cold and did not feel safe either. We heard voices all through the night, the walls are so thin we could hear the people next door and above using the toilet and we were desperate to check out for the train home. The safe didn’t work and the cupboard was flimsy and wobbly at the end of the small bed against the wall. When we later complained they denied our claims despite the pictures and said they don’t provide a service - only a location. If you value your health and safety, look elsewhere. They do not care about your personal experience.

Imagine a hotel renovated in 2001 that hasn't been touched since then: well, this is the impression I got, that this hotel is stuck in 2001. The TVs have dvd players even! It's not bad. Just old. Also shoutout to the staff: friendly, accommodating and always willing to help.

Certainly will not be returning again, sleeping on a park bench would be more comfortable - tiny, stuffy rooms with no air con. Even with the window open in our room the temperature in the room was unbearable - all round pretty terrible accomadation.

Would not recommend this hotel !!! Son stayed for one night . For security locked the room from the inside using the button on the Yale lock .Just after midnight wanted to leave the room for a cigarette and get fresh air as the room was hot . The button on the lock broke trapping him in the room. Phoned the guy on reception desk who was unable to open door from outside . The guy then left ? Sons anxiety started to increase . The guy later returned to smash the door in from the outside. Son was told he should not have locked the door from the inside ??? and told he had broken the lock!! THE LOCK BROKE !! Asked for another room - no room available . Asked for a refund - told to phone manager on Monday . No option but to stay the night . Hardly slept as door was broken and unsecure. After reading other reviews , it was no surprise manger would not give a refund . Said , should be charging US for a door frame !!! WHAT A PLACE !!!!

Great and cheap hotel, booked as a quick stay over for early train and did the job. Comfy and tight room but no issues. Receptionist very friendly and sorted issues when needed

The hotel is a Great location to underground links, macdonals and the underground club (event I went) they have a few bars and easy to main city, the hotel does the job but its bathroom was very small, you can't swing a cat in it. The price was a bargin so worth staying, break fast was off and beds need better plankets. Also very lovely staff, one gave me a fork for my pot noodle.

I stayed at the Elmwood hotel in London for 2 nights with my Daughter and Grandson . London can feel like a scary place but once in the hotel we where made to feel very safe . Nothing was to much trouble, the staff could not do enuff for us and gave my Grandson a hug when we left they really looked after us well ,it felt like we had been staying with family . My Grandson was treated like a little prince . Fantastic hotel for families . The hotel itself obviously isn't a 5 star and is ridiculously cheap price for a stay but the service we received is far better than what I have received at a 5 star hotel . The hotel was very clean and breakfast was fab great start to the day and location is absolutely perfect 5 mins walk from the train station . I would highly recommend this hotel and so pleased we chose it as now have nothing but fab memories . Thank you all so much to all the staff at Elmwood hotel xxx

Nice hotel near King's Cross Station. The staff is friendly and offer good service. Although the rooms are small, they are clean and neat. The only point of criticism is the radiator. It was really hot in the room even when our radiator was on 0. It was quite warm outside, but the central heating was on. When asked, they turned it down, so it was not a big issue. Recommended.

I've stayed in some naff hotels/hostels before but this is something else. Really dirty room with no proper bed linen (just random sheets and a weird blanket) and marks all over the walls (including handprints!). We decided not to stay and ended up having to come home early. Really poor and a total waste of money. Cheap hotel is one thing, unhygienic and totally inadequate is another.

The service was correct and polite. The room was bad, the bed was smelling like the sheets were not changed and some long hair still there. Same with the floor some dry tree leaves were there. The toilet needs long time for the water to fill again and the toilet cover was detached. I think you need improvements to be 3 star hotel.

Very small rooms, bed is two small for 2 people, This hotel has blankets not quilts, so can be cold in winter. The only thing is the location. Very close to station. Reasonable breakfast for the price.

Very very tiny room! Couldn’t open the suitcase in full! No dustbin in the room, just one towel in the shower, the floor gets wet with one splash of face wash! The reception guy was cool, but the guy sitting whole night at the reception doesn’t seem to be in the best of his mood, particularly being in the hospitality business! The location is great! That’s the only good thing about this place.

Very basic rooms. Uncomfortable beds. Rooms could fo with dusting/cleaning. Curtains are too short for privacy and we ended up waving at the family in the room behind us. You can hear everyone in the hotel. We were late for breakfast so only had 10 minutes. Looked at the selection and decided to go somewhere else. Good location for our needs. Staff at reception were friendly.

For the price/area, can't really complain. Nice staff, rooms clean. Not flashy by any means, but for a bed for the night, not bad really. Right next to King's Cross/St Pancras.

If you’re looking for a cheap, uncomplicated room for a night or two right next to the station then this place will do. I’d say if you would consider sleeping in a hostel then you will be able to handle the conditions in this place. Not nice but cheap as chips and perfect location. Weird that they don’t have duvets, rather a blanket and sheets which I don’t suppose they really wash between guests. Was a bit chilly.

I found this hotel to be in a nice area of close proximity to King's cross station. The place is neat and clean at least our room. My family room was not too big but it was ok .... With a little token you can have breakfast. They did not serve English breakfast but they have croissants, salamis, ham, cheese, toast, butter, jam. You can drink with fresh orange juice, ribena. You can drink with tea and coffee. In the family room, I had or they already had tea, coffee, sugar, milk sackets. My room had a kettle with a 21in TV! Hurray, it works....

Really nice people working there, the rooms were kinda small but that’s what we booked. The good thing about the hotel is the location just a minute away from King’s Cross station.

My first time visiting London and was looking for a good location and clean room. If you like me just looking for s simple, clean room next to a train station, this is the place. I usually go for luxury stays but decided to try this property and I cannot stress enough how good my experiences been. All the associates who work here are extremely polite and willing to help. I would def stay here again. 10/10 … Ronei ortiz

As james said, the neighbours complained about the noises above. Well not in this hotel, room not big enough to perform in. Unfortunately as Noel and Liam said, I had to slide away, as quickly as possible infact. Even Jim couldn’t fix this hotel.

Rooms a bit small and beds a bit uncomfortable but apart from that we enjoyed our stay. Service was excellent.

If you want a cheap Room in a great location for your stay in London, and price is an issue, you might want to have a look. Wifi was good, room and bathroom were clean. However, you get what you pay for. Small bed and a very bad stench in the bathroom that did not went away.

Very small room. Ugly. Awful smell in most of the hotel. Impolite staff. The first night was in room 3 which should not be available because the roof is just under the entrance and the whole ceiling makes noise every time someone goes in or out. Only go as a last resource and ask for a room in the top floors (no lift available). No breakfast, not even a sofa in a common area. Bad mattress. Very thin walls. The only good things are the location and the 24 hr reception.

Terrible hotel – I can't remember one good thing about it. The beds were horrible, probably the most uncomfortable beds I've slept in. The walls are so thin you can hear your neighbour sneeze. The room is stuffy and old, there is mold in the bathrooms.

The hotel is good for the price of 50 pound if you want to just sleep here or use the room for a few hours the walls are thin and can hear most things the fixtures fittings and furniture are dated but what do you expect for a cheap price the staff seem alright from the short interaction I had with them I would still stay here again as its a good place if your on a budget

I’m so glad we’re only staying here for 2 nights. Room is grubby. Radiator is filthy. White sheets on bed were clean but the blanket and top cover have not been washed for god knows how long! Disgusting! Curtains hanging on a copper pipe! There was wet toilet paper sticking to the bathroom wall. Staff are not friendly. Breakfast was ‘included’ when we booked online but no breakfast was available. This hotel must never have returning guests. It’s awful.

Little rooms though but good service and proximity to kingcross Station. For a quick short stay, can recommend.

It was all around a nice experience that people were very polite very helpful the service was great the rooms were very clean the space in the room are only for 2 people at a time it's not that big but not uncomfortable if you manage your space right

Don’t waste your money. Better to shell out for a private in a nearby hostel. This room was a joke. £130 for this?

It's located very close to the St Pancras station and King's Cross. Room was so congested with lot of furniture! Toilet+shower area is damn small and there was no bath mat on the floor. Entire space was filled in water after a shower. One good thing was the dustbins were cleared on a daily basis. I stayed with my friends for 3 nights. I will never opt this one again!

  • 1/5 Van Belle P. 1 year ago on Google
An absolute dump! Had a room on the top floor that had a shower in a closet and a toilet + very small sink in another closet. Everything felt greasy and ready to disintegrate... For 90 pound! Never again.

Finger weg!!!
