I stayed here recently. Travelled to London and got badly travelsick and lost on my way to the hostel. The lady on the reception took me in very quick and uncomplicated. She was sweet and made me feel very quick safe and settled. The room was a bit too hot and the fan was lined up to only one bed. It would have been great if everyone would have got some of cool air. However, for being in a 8 room mixed dorm it was pretty clean and quite. I stayed only one night but would like to stay next time a little longer. Definitely coming back here soon again.

As a first-time female solo traveler, I was very hesitant to stay in a hostel in a foreign country I'd never been to before. However, I'm very pleased to say that I had a FANTASTIC stay at Astor Kensington! I stayed 6 nights in a 4 bed female dorm. Overall, I feel like I got great value for what I paid. The hostel was very clean & comfortable, and the staff were very friendly. I would definitely stay at Astor Kensington or another Astor property again! PROS: - Extremely friendly staff that made my stay feel extra comforting and inviting! - Located in a good area; <5 min walking distance to nearest bus & Underground stations. I felt safe despite being a solo female traveler. The front door also has keypad entry. - Bathrooms, hallways, & rooms were frequently cleaned. Although the building/interior was a little outdated, it was definitely very clean and well-maintained. - Free coffee + tea all day :) - Tons of other amenities like free hairdryers, a kitchen space, towels for rent, & a laundry room, to name a few. - My room didn’t have an en-suite bathroom but it did have a sink which was really nice! CONS: - No elevator, so I had to haul my heavy suitcase up 2 flights of stairs. To be expected with older buildings in London, though. - Staff would on occasion burst in unannounced to clean/perform random maintenance tasks. I acknowledge that privacy is a trade-off of staying in hostels, but this happened more frequently than I would’ve preferred. - The last night of my stay, I came back to the bottom bunk I'd been sleeping on for the past 5 nights stripped & my things moved to the top bunk. Not the biggest issue, but also could’ve done without this change.

Dippy staff on checking in, i think he was stonned. I was given a ground floor room. The room itself is clean but I assumed the window left wide open is what made it very cold, I was wrong, It is very cold anyway. The window faces an outdoor space containing kitchen & basement vents that leads up the centre of the building, facing other windows in the same building. I was told the common areas are off limits because of lockdown but the reality is that common areas are off limits to guests so that the staff have space and facilities to host parties until 5am, keeping everyone awake. The toilet they used for their party was directly next to my room. So between midnight and 5am I had to deal with party noise in addition to noise related to being sick and spitting from the toilet next to my cold room. I disputed the problem last night and was told i can get a refund. Today i was told completely different. I was told that the manager wont be in until Monday (the same day as I'm due to check out). Apparently only the manager can authorise refunds. Now because my complaint has hurt staff feelings, I had to leave and consult the manager on Monday regarding my refund and why they value staff feelings over customer rights to get my £51 back. I'm not keen on drama on television let alone in my life as well. If you dislike drama, don't consider staying here. If you want a good nights sleep, do not stay here, the staff have absolutely no respect for guests. If you do find yourself having to stay here, pay only 1 night at a time.

Do not stay here. Not sure where to begin but maybe with staff who will willingly lie to your face about stolen property. I had personal belongings stolen by staff working at the hostel. Despite me raising my concerns with management I was continually stalled in the hopes I would forget it. Staff are not great. On multiple occasions we witnessed staff complain and curse about co-workers in front of guests or hurl abuse down a corridor. The bathrooms need to be cleaned more frequently and thoroughly. Location of the hostel was its only saving grace. Consider somewhere else first though!

The staff was great, they were super helpful and always smiling from the moment I checked in, also, the room was clean and pretty spacious, especially considering we were 8 people ☺️. The plugs for the chargers weren't working and they were quite dirty (not a big deal tbh as there were plenty of charging outlets in the room😊). My only issue was the behaviour of other customers who ended up fighting throughout the entire night, screaming and throwing things at each other and hitting on someone' bunkbed cause he was snoring from 3 am onwards (as a solo female (the only girl in the room as well) that made me feel quite unsafe). They left the room and the bathroom extremely dirty as well 🥴 (not your staff's fault though). Overall the location was great, especially during the Christmas season, prices are really good and the staff is really nice.

This hostel has warm vibes and the staff are always happy to help. It’s in a great location and has a lovely facade. We stayed in a 4-bed female dorm and had a relatively great experience (being a hostel, some reduction in quality of accommodation is to be expected). The room was small but manageable, it had a great view and a handy shelf by the beds.

Stayed for 4 nights in a 9 bed dorm. Very small room, creaky beds and very loud lockers. Shower in the room only had cold water, two down the corridor were fine. Generally hostel could've been cleaner. Very small kitchen and limited cooking facilities given the size of the hostel. Staff were helpful and the location is excellent (close to tube lines etc). However for price you are paying you would expect a bit more. Breakfast also does not seem worth it for the price.

Great hostel ,Friendly staff, very helpful good location for getting around in West London Near 2 tube stations The beds we're cleaning fresh sheets as we're the toilets and showers too. You got free drinks coffee, tea,hot chocolate or orange juice if you required . They also offered breakfast bread toast jams or you could cook your own food and eat Big plus Highly recommended

I stayed at this hostel for four nights from 1st June 2022 to 5th June 2022. This hostel is just a few-minute walk from Queensway tube station on the Central Line. So far, my stay was very pleasant from day one to my last day in London. I never had any problems with all the staff members and the guests - they were very friendly and I felt like being at home. The hostel is very budget friendly if you're travelling on a budget. I would stay there again if I visit London next time.

I stayed here for 2 days just as I arrive to London. the staff was friendly and helpful, they even borrowed me an adapter so I could charge my laptop. as for the room, they're not the most comfortable. I think 9 people bedroom is a bit too crowded and climbing to the third bunk bed is challenging and even dangerous. the bed ladder is very narrow with not much to hold on the side. "Luckily" for me the top bed where I was supposed to sleep was dirty so instead the staff replace it with the lower bed. (which also had a stain on it). the beds are quite simple with a very thin mattress, no place to charge a laptop near the bed, and only a USB plug for the phone. there is one fan in the room that only reaches the lower beds and not much space to place a big suitcase under the beds. The bathroom is small but clean, the place also has equipped kitchen and a living room, which is the only place you can charge and work on your laptop simultaneity. I think the biggest advantage of this hostel is the price and location.

Stayed here for one night when our other hotel was booked up. Definitely a youth hostel in feel and clientele. Our room was up four flights of stairs (no lift in the building) and was teensy. Bathroom was en-suite but extremely small (sink was basically on top of the toilet). They charge for the use of towels and also required a deposit for the key. Location is alright, as it’s close to two tube stations. The radiator was also broken in our room, though they did provide a temporary replacement.

Very nice Hostel, excellent location. I had an incredible stay, I want to highlight that it has very good staff! I felt at home, Ana and Felix's attention was very warm as she helped me with some things. Don't hesitate to choose this hostel, you will have an incredible time!

I walked 6 miles through London with my backpack, only to hear in this hostel that you generally can't get an overnight stay without booking online. Every guest MUST book online! Maybe the hostel should communicate this on their website. That would be fair and understandable.

Really Like the place best if you’re visiting with friends on a budget and want to live in Zone 1. The staff if very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and hygienic. We also had a female friend who had choose a female only dorm and according to her it was also very good. About the location right across the road you have the Kensington Garden so you can go on early morning walk over there also. Next lane also have your all food options including the Tube station which the Central Line is also very accessible to the prime location from the hostel. If you have big group you can also book a whole dorm and live together. Would highly recommend this place to stay.

I had such an amazing time staying at the Astor Kensington. The staff were incredible, all very welcoming and helpful. Maddi, Danny and Anna were the best! Looked after me and made sure I felt safe and comfortable during my stay. The hostel is a very friendly environment, so easy to meet new people between the dorms, common room, kitchen and events held in and out of the hostel, run by the staff. It’s in a beautiful area, close to stations and bus stops, and an easy walk to Hyde Park. Thanks to all the staff for making London a highlight of my trip! I’ll 100% be staying here in the future.

Very nice hostel. Its got everything you need, including kitchen etc. Really lovely staff. Pretty clean place. Pretty quiet. Very handy for tube and transport. If there are any (minor) downsides, they could do with more showers and WCs; they do have to cram a lot of hostel into a certain amount of space as well, you wouldn't want to be huge!

Awesome hostel experience! Was very impressed with the room, bed comfort, space and ability to sleep well every night. The staff here are absolutely lovely, a great bunch of characters, super friendly, welcoming and helpful. Best hostel experience I’ve had. Of course additionally the location is great as it’s only 50m walk to Hyde park and plenty of great pubs etc around.

Lovely staff, great location. Loads of stairs but only 2 showers/toilets on my floor. It’s not enough when there are 3 dorms.

No complaints! The hostel was clean and comfortable. As a solo female traveller I felt safe in the neighbourhood and the hostel itself. Staff were friendly and accomodating. Would stay here again!

It was my first hostel experience and I think there couldn’t have been a better place to have that experience. From the moment I walked in, which was a late check in , Nikki was really helpful, warm, and resourceful in all my questions and doubts. I really appreciated this and made the hostel stay start with a great impression. They rooms were good, shower and toilets were good, the overall vibe was great of the staff and guests. There’s a big family vibe which Ugo always strives to maintain. And you can tell they’re diligent on this. Keiran was also a staff member that was ready to help in any way and also simply to have cool conversations! Staying here is like staying with extended family - They’re there for you. Thanks guys.

I really enjoyed my stay here !! The hosts was really kind and friendly. The hostel is cool and the location is incredible, really near to everything by the bus or the Subway. It’s also really close to everything you’ll need : groceries store, restaurants, fast food, money exchange, etc… in a very animated area but still calm and beautiful. For the price it’s absolutely correct, the bed and the bathroom was good, and obviously all the services. Btw, the bathrooms aren’t always clean due to all the people who use it but the cleaning is recurrent and perfect. Even if some people in your room aren’t always respectful (doing some noises and opening the light at 2am), it’s not the hosts’ fault and everything is perfect from them!! 😁 If you like to meet new people and living in community it’ll be perfect for you, or even if you don’t like : you’re free to do whatever you want, people are not invasives !! Thank you so much for this stay, and see u soon 😁😁

Used this place for an overnight from a gig, easy to find, staff were patient with some drunk guy who was trying to cause a problem with me. Price was worth it but it's bloody hot on that top floor, the fan did little but eh it's the UK we're not equipped like other countries. Can't complain as I had a safe place to lay my head for the night before heading to work the next day. Would come back as it was well priced.

If there was the option I would have given more of a 3.5. You have to expect to sacrifice some level of comfort when you stay at a hostel, however for what it is this is an overall decent place to stay. I stayed in two different rooms while I was there, one was a little bigger than the other and was more pleasant to stay in as the people were quiet and respectful, unlike in the second room, however this isn't the hostel's fault obviously. They were both 4 bed mixed-dorms, so the size of your room will pretty much be luck of the draw. Beds were not the comfiest, mattresses and pillows are hard. There is storage under the beds but if you have a large suitcase it will not fit. You'll likely be able to find room for it on the floor though. Bathrooms have either just a toilet and sink or shower, toilet and sink, there's a bunch of them and you have them to yourself while you're in there which is a bonus. Staff were lovely and very helpful. There is no lift, so take this into consideration if you have heavy luggage with you, however staff will help you carry your stuff up and down the stairs.

After a short stay in February, I stayed here for a week in a female dormitory. Yes, there is the minor issue of not having an elevator and having to walk the stairs, but I had help bringing my suitcase upstairs, so no problem there. Both my experiences have been nothing but positive. Excellent location, absolutely lovely, helpful staff! I will definitely come back.

My stay has been excellent, I felt safe and had been upgraded to a private room due to a booking issue on the hostel's end. It was possible to warm up the room really well, and the room was spacious and comfy. Only the mattress was a bit uneven and the window difficult to close at the beginning. There were enough lights and plugs at different places in the room and an electric ketten. People from the hostel have been very welcoming and there is a well furnished kitchen at your disposal with micro-waves, and so on. If you have a lot of luggage, please keep in mind there is no lift.

We stayed here for a night and it was a little bit okay. If you're bringing big, heavy luggages with you, I wouldn't recommend this hostel since there's no elevator and the stairs are too narrow and steep going up to the higher floors. We were given a room on the 5th floor, and it really was a struggle carrying our luggages. The room was also very small. I'm not even sure if the sheets in our room were changed because it kind of looked a bit dirty, and the comforter was also dirty. There's a toilet and shower in the room, but it seemed like the toilet papers had been there for a while and hadn't been changed. Giving it 2 stars for the friendly and accommodating staff. ⭐️⭐️

  • 3/5 Josefina J. 1 year ago on Google
The bathroom is shared with all of the people of the same floor, and it is just one, the shower and the toilet are together. The laundry room is open until 10 which was a bas thing for me cause I arrive pretty late at night. The rooms were smaller than they looked in the photos. If you are going to stay in there take in count the stairs

  • 2/5 Daphne G. 4 months ago on Google • 4 reviews
A very below average stay. The breakfast was so poor and underwhelming - I ended up spending £2 more at the grocery store for better selection. The beds are small, the rooms are small, the bathrooms are small (compared to other hostels). Hallways were dirty and be prepared to climb lots of stairs. For a one night stay, this may be okay. I stayed for 5 nights and I would have regretted it, except the location was great for sightseeing and taking the subway. But for the money, I don’t think it’s worth it.

I had an incredible experience at the hospitality of Danny and Anna. From the moment I arrived, they provided a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made me feel right at home. Their attention to detail and care for their guests truly stood out. Danny and Anna went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. I can't thank them enough for their exceptional service and genuine kindness. It was a pleasure to be their guest, and I highly recommend their hospitality to anyone seeking a wonderful and memorable experience. Great place, I recommend it!

First time staying in a hostel and I had a great time. Central location for easy train, buss or bike services, activity boards for stuff to do and the staff very friendly and made our stay even more enjoyable. Met some interesting characters but also some really cool people that I now call friends. Big shout out to Maddie, Danny and Adriana

  • 2/5 Adam B. 1 year ago on Google
Excellent location, but otherwise a lackluster experience. Most of the staff was unfriendly if not also unhelpful. The 9-person rooms were surely too small for 9 beds and my bedside charging port was broken for the entirety of my stay. I've paid much less for much better experiences at other hostels. I really enjoyed my trip to London, but would likely find another hostel whenever I return.

The best place/hostel to stay in London!! Staff and the manager Enrique are always friendly and here to help. If you come to London for a short or long stay (which I am doing), I definitely would recommend this hostel! Amazing location, clean & great facilities.

Loved it! Excellent location and an amazing team working there. Breakfast for only £1! And there is a shower inside the room , which is amazing! They even let you borrow padlocks and have lockers for valuables. It is the perfect place for staying in London :)

Nice, clean hostel. I was in a 4 female dorm, but there was only 1 other girl there. The place is a little cliquey and kind of far from the main London sights. If you're looking for a quiet place near Hyde park, then stay here. But if you want to be near all the hustle and bustle, look further east.

Rather would not recommend..hostile racist atmosphere the staff is sticking together and keep forgetting their salaries come from happy and relaxed customers which however is not guaranteed neither due to their wifi pretty 👎👎👎👎made all the 3days experience to Hell.

Great location and value for money. I stayed in a private twin room with a private bathroom and it was great for a couple nights stay, and right around the corner from the underground. Staff are super friendly and helpful.

Lovely staff , Great location in the middle of London . Few minutes from Hyde park , restaurant, shops . Also , so close to the central line tube station which takes you everywhere .

I have no idea how this place has such good reviews. I think they must be fake. The hostel was extremely dirty. The room smelled disgusting and the bathroom floor was filthy. Plus the shower didn't have any separation so the whole bathroom got soaking wet anytime anyone showered. The mattress was rock hard and uncomfortable to sleep on. No curtains for the beds and the ladder was kind of difficult to climb. I'm a solo female traveler and I stayed in a mixed gender dorm and was the only woman. Would really recommend finding another hostel. I will say that the staff were very nice and the location is excellent. I felt safe.

I am really sorry but it's a No from me. I was really needed the room to have a shower and sleep and they had cold water (not even lukewarm) in a cold room. Bad choice. Great location thought, near two metro stations and 12' on foot from Paddington station. Very close to Hyde Park as well.

I was visiting London for the opening of the Elizabeth line and picked this hostel due to its close proximity to Paddington station. The place had friendly staff that left me feeling at ease during my stay and provided good entertainment at night. They were also very accommodating when I requested a bunk due to my disabilities. I would stay here again.

Just paid £40 and I still can't believe it! It was cleaner and safer than any other place in London. They were quite friendly though. I'm pretty sure it will be our first stop for our next London trips.

Area, clearance and stuff was really great 10/10 If you want to save some money just buy food at tesco (there are 2 nearby - smaller and bigger) I don't recommend to take shared room, as visitors are like pigs - turn on the light during night, make noise, don't shower after a long day... better to pay additional 20£ for normal room

  • 5/5 Alexander V. 2 years ago on Google
Second time here and can't say enough good things! This place is one of the best hostels in London. Great facilities and location, but the staff really make it even better. We had an issue with our bus and were forced to miss our first night. The reception not only waived the charge for our missed night (which they didn't have to do) but also upgraded us to a private room because we had such a difficult trip to London. So nice of them! Thank you, I will be back!

Astor Kensington was exactly what you want from an inner city social hostel. Many people were staying long term which created a really lovely family atmosphere blending staff and guests. Felt very welcomed and invited to multiple activities and evening events. Facilities were great, complete kitchen and heaps of space to store food in cupboards and fridge. Bathrooms were lovely modern and clean, plus a sink in the room I was in which was super handy for brushing teeth and getting ready in the morning. Location was also ideal with only a short walk to the Queensway tube station and across the road from Kensington Gardens means you feel both in and out of the city!
