I'm
baffled
by
our
New
Year's
Eve
experience
at
this
London
pub.
We
were
a
group
of
five
serious
professionals
in
our
30s,
meeting
for
our
first
drink
of
the
night
at
23:40.
Upon
arrival,
the
bouncer
claimed
the
pub
was
full,
despite
it
appearing
half-empty
through
the
windows.
He
initially
requested
a
bribe
for
entry,
which
we
refused.
After
some
discussion,
he
let
us
in.
The
bar
staff
hurried
our
order,
explaining
that
they
pause
service
from
23:50
to
00:10
for
New
Year
celebrations,
which
was
reasonable.
We
ordered
our
drinks,
leaving
a
£5
tip.
Later,
after
moving
to
a
spacious
area
of
the
bar,
one
of
our
friends
left
a
full
glass
of
orange
juice
on
the
counter
to
use
the
restroom.
Returning,
she
found
it
gone.
When
we
asked
an
Italian
bartender
about
it,
she
denied
removing
it,
which
could
be
true,
but
they
were
more
bartenders
around.
Despite
understanding
her
Italian
swearing
due
to
my
time
living
in
Sicily,
she
eventually
made
a
new
orange
juice.
Surprisingly,
she
then
insisted
on
charging
£3.50
for
the
replacement.
A
fellow
customer,
having
witnessed
the
situation,
kindly
offered
to
pay
for
the
juice
with
his
order.
However,
this
incident
left
a
lasting
impression
of
the
staff's
conduct.
To
the
Italian
bartender:
I've
worked
in
hospitality
for
many
years
and
understand
the
challenges,
with
commitment
I
was
able
to
move
from
washing
dishes
to
run
a
restaurant
in
3
years
and
some
years
after
I
was
able
to
leave
that
industry.
We
all
have
dreams
and
goals,
often
involving
hard
work
on
holidays
away
from
loved
ones.
I
hope
you
find
fulfillment
in
your
career,
just
as
I
am
progressing
towards
mine.
Just
keep
in
mind
that
behaviour
is
not
going
to
help
you
in
any
way.
Happy
New
Year
