Thoroughly
disappointed
with
our
visit
to
the
American
bar
this
Saturday
afternoon.
The
venue
operates
a
walk-in
policy.
This
is
what
is
stated
on
their
website
"
This
bar
operates
a
walk
in
policy.
A
limited
number
of
online
reservations
are
available
for
up
to
two
people
only"
We
arrived
at
5pm
and
asked
for
a
counter
table
for
2
at
the
bar...the
hostess
checked
and
said
that
was
fine
but
we
could
only
have
the
seat
for
1.5
hours
instead
of
the
normal
2,
we
agreed
to
this
as
this
visit
has
been
on
my
top
10
list
for
a
while,
I
couldn't
believe
my
luck.
Eagerly,
we
were
taken
to
the
bar
and
once
again
reminded
we
had
till
6.30pm
to
enjoy
the
bar
"experience,"
and
Jamie
would
look
after
us.
Jamie
did
indeed
acknowledge
us
promptly
and
asked
us
what
we
would
like,
as
we
only
had
1.5
hours
we
decided
to
order
a
bottle
of
LP
rose
champagne
and
then
we
had
asked
Jamie
to
recommend
us
a
cocktail
for
afterwards.
Jamie
was
polite
and
professional,
opened
our
champagne,
and
made
polite
chit
chat,
after
15
mins,
he
informed
us
he
was
going
on
his
break.
We
then
attempted
to
chat
to
his
cover,
which
was
more
of
a
challenge,
but
I
was
currently
happy
with
my
surroundings.
I
started
to
look
through
the
cocktail
menu
eagerly
awaiting
Jamie's
return
for
him
to
recommend
us
a
cocktail
as
previously
discussed.
At
5.20pm
the
hostess
that
seated
us
came
over
and
said
she
had
made
a
mistake
and
the
booking
she
had
told
us
about
was
for
3
people
and
was
infact
at
6pm
so
we
would
have
to
move
at
6pm
to
a
lower
table
somewhere
in
the
bar.
We
were
only
halfway
through
our
bottle
champagne
and
waiting
for
the
anticipated
promised
bar
"experience"
to
kick
in.
So
our
2
hour
slot
had
now
been
chopped
in
half,
we
hadn't
really
felt
like
we'd
had
an
exceptional
wow
experience,
when
the
final
straw
was
the
hostess
returned
once
again
at
5.50pm
to
tell
me
the
booking
of
3
people
had
arrived
early
and
we
need
to
move
now.......my
wife
still
had
half
a
glass
of
champagne
to
drink
and
we
hadn't
even
ordered
our
cocktails
yet.
We
were
made
to
stand
up
and
start
moving,
if
we
had
been
given
till
6pm
we
could
have
finished
our
bottle
of
champagne
instead
we
were
hussled
out
like
we
shouldnt
be
there.
This
was
a
disgusting
way
to
treat
a
paying
guest.The
hostess
handled
the
whole
situation
very
poorly,
so
what
we
actually
received
was
50
mins
and
no
wow
factor.
We
were
over
promised
and
under
delivered.
The
Savoy
has
a
reputation
for
putting
its
guests
first
and
prides
themselves
on
customer
service.....or
so
I
thought.
Wow,
how
wrong
was
I.
I've
travelled
and
dined
in
first
class
establishment's
all
over
the
world,
and
this
by
far
was
the
biggest
letdown.
I
did
speak
with
the
bar
manager
on
the
evening,
and
he
attempted
to
rectify
my
experience.
He
removed
the
service
charge
and
moved
us
to
a
table
in
the
Beaufont
bar
for
a
round
of
complimentary
drinks.
The
service
in
there
was
brilliant,
and
we
were
finally
looked
after,
we
stayed
for
another
cocktail,
but
it
was
too
little
too
late.
I
spent
well
over
£200
with
you
and
was
ready
to
spend
more.
But
I
couldn't
get
over
the
way
we
had
been
treated
in
the
American
bar.
I
shall
choose
the
Ritz
next
time
we
are
in
London.
Our
experiences
previously
at
the
Ritz
have
been
nothing
but
outstanding
and
memorable
for
all
the
corect
reasons.
In
this
current
cost
of
living
crisis
and
volatile
climate,
you
should
be
very
careful
when
working
in
the
hospitality
industry
how
you
treat
people
wanting
to
spend
their
money
with
you.
The
guest
is
looking
for
that
experience
and
wow
factor,
especially
in
a
premium
venue
like
the
Savoy.
This
experience
has
left
a
very
bad
taste
in
my
mouth,
and
I
have
lost
my
faith
in
the
Savoy.
I
hope
the
3
guests
that
booked
and
sat
at
the
bar
at
6
pm
got
treated
better
than
we
did.
