I visited The Mayflower Pub on a Saturday night out with friends. At arrival, the place was very busy but we miraculously managed to find a table 🍀. The whole experience was fantastic: staff offered a prompt and pleasant service, drinks were excellent and food very yummy 🤤 I ordered the beef burger 🍔 with chips and it was super tasty (and filling- something you definitely want when ordering a burger!!). Views were fantastic, and we were blessed with the most wonderful sunset! Altogether, it was a wonderful night and I can’t wait to be back! Definitely to add to your bucket list!!

This is a very traditional British pub, tiny, with a lot of nooks and steps in the most unexpected places. The food was fantastic, both the mussels and calamari were very fresh, and the pork well seasoned. The portions are large as well, larger than in most pubs we've been to. The place is very popular. When I tried to simply walk in I was told they are fully booked a few days ahead. And when we finally visited, the place was packed, and at 7PM they were already running of the steak pies. But don't let that stop you, I'll repeat and say that this was one of the best gastro pubs I've been to in London.

Very atmospheric pub with brilliant staff and good beer (it's a Greene King pub) We didn't eat here, but the food being served around us looked very good. We sat on the covered part of the Riverside deck at the back of the pub. This extends over the river and at high tide the wash from the speedboats on the Thames splashes through the boards. If you visit the Mayflower, have a look at the deck and then the flood doors on your back into the bar. The overhead heaters made the deck a pleasant place to enjoy a drink or food on a bitterly cold day in November. A touch expensive, but for the ambience, location and service, well worth it.

Mayflower is one of the best pubs in my neighbourhood. Love the history behind it and the ambience with subdued lighting. As I’m not much of a drinker, I usually come here for meals during special occasions. My husband and I had our anniversary dinner here once, we’ve tried their Fish Fridays promo and most recently, I had dinner with my family over the holidays. What can I say? Every dish was delightful. Serving were generous too. The biggest hits were the Confit Duck Leg and Sticky Toffee Pudding. We’ll definitely come back again. P.S. Service was great too. Shout out to the lovely waitress who took our family photo.

This is a great pub. It looks and feels exactly what you would expect an English pub to look like if you were an American tourist, except there don’t seem to be many tourists (due to it being in Rotherhithe!) I’ve been once on Sunday and once on a weekday. The Roast beef on the Sunday lunch menu was tender and the gravy was rich and flavourful. I also thoroughly recommend the whitebait for a starter. The regular menu is also fantastic, especially the pork belly, mussels, and fish and chips. There’s nothing on it that I wouldn’t love to try! The service is attentive and the locals are friendly. I didn’t see the top floor where you can book tables as I was a walk in, but the terrace hanging over the Thames was an experience. Just remember to bring warm layers in the Winter!

The Mayflower Pub is chock full of history and ambiance. The service team is approachable and happy to share the history of this intimate space. Located in a residential part of London south of the Thames, the Mayflower Pub is was well worth the journey to find.

Unique pub, lovely atmosphere and people. I wish I had discovered it sooner! Nice interiors and patio at the back overlooking the Thames. Good selection of tap beers, wine list not very wide. Great food menu, interesting specials, I had the pie of the day with mash, vegetables and gravy and it was tasty and well presented, I recommend it. Friendly staff, good service, cozy environment and fair prices. I'll definitely be back soon!

Pretty fantastic located cosy pub. We always enjoy the views from the jetty. The staff are absolutely friendly and do a good job. Jules was my favourite and she always greets everyone with a wide smile. Their wines are also quite nice and priced decently. The homemade food options are nice for vegetarians and their fish Friday deal is quite nice. Lovely local pub with a bit of history and stunning views.

Incredible pub right on the main river Thames (rhymes with James). Great staff and chill about where you consume your poison of choice. Probably the best hand pulled lager in the area with a quaint setting which lures you into staying there into the wee hours. Would recommend post social sports game or local gathering.

One star for service, which was absolutely great - they were all very attentive, paid attention to detail, they were very helpful and kind. Another star for the views which were absolutely lovely. Another star for atmosphere, fire place and the fact that the whole pub was ever so romantic and cozy. And the last star is for presentation of the food and gigantic Yorkshire pudding. Sadly the food was very disappointing, the lamb was ever so chewy with loads of fat on it, roast potatoes were not done and very hard - never been more disappointed with a roast dinner in my life... It is not that difficult to get it right!!

10 stars for atmosphere and service! Incredible pub with incredible history. Be Warned! The back deck has gaps in the floor with the River Thames running under it. If you drop, say an air bud (saw it happen), and it finds a way to a gap in the flooring..you ain't getting it back! Beautiful pub in a beautiful, old, living history setup. An absolute must for any beer/history enthusiasts. Mind the Gaps!!!

Went to the Mayflower because of the location and history and also liked the photos of the interior. It ended up being one of our favs in London so far. The bar staff were friendly and helpful choosing which pint to have. We got a table outside and the server was attentive and friendly as well. The staff checked if everything was going well with food and drinks and were happy we were happy! We each had a steak pie which was quite good, better than the others we have had on the other side of the river with lots of veggies and excellent gravy. And we split a sticky toffee pudding which was also really good. Overall we really liked The Mayflower and have already booked to go another time.

A remarkable old pub, with amazingly rude, arrogant staff. Had a horrible experience here at the weekend when we queried why three of us couldn’t stand round a table for two, in the open air. The waiter told us it was illegal - but didn’t really seem interested in rational explanations - just told us if we didn’t like the way he ran his business we needed to leave immediately. An astonishing mixture of aggressive, patronising and insulting all rolled into one and delivered with a smirk. A shocking attitude. At one point an older colleague came out to see what was happening. We wondered if she was a bit more clued up on customer service than he was. But no, she was just as rude and charmless. We asked both of them if they thought having a bit of respect for their customers mattered, and they disagreed. We drank up as quickly as possible, at which point the waiter started mocking us and saying we were running away! Extraordinary. We’re a “nice” middle-class, middle-aged couple from North London. In the decades we’ve been going to pubs I can’t think of a similar experience. I know it’s super difficult for the hospitality industry right now - and I think about our local publicans and how kind, welcoming and decent they are in such tough times. Shame the Mayflower can’t take a leaf out of their book, but I suppose it’s a big enough tourist trap for them not to have to bother.

On our most recent holiday visit we came across this beautiful hidden pub right on the river Thames. This pub is fairly priced we got a warm welcome from the friendly young man Lee who served us on our time there. The pub is child friendly as we had little ones with us this was our first outing since covid19 with the family. We had an amazing time would most definitely recommend the visit here. The price are reasonable the food was amazing lots to choose from on the menu. Thank you for having us and we will be back 🖐🏼

We visited for the history: my ancestor put his loser brother on the Mayflower and paid his fare. It did not disappoint on any count. The building and memorabilia are fantastic and I was very happily surprised by the food. I was expecting basic pub food but this was better than average. We got fish and chips, and bangers and mash and it was nicely done with cheerful, funny servers who made us feel very welcome

What a great place to spend an afternoon, a great English pub with great food, beer but the service was the highlight. Friendly and even when crazy busy, only with smiles on their faces! Love it and everyone should experience! On the weekend the place gets packed so arrive early and wait in a queue - it’s worth it! In a great area of London so you won’t just have great food but do some great strolling as well

It is definitely an old building full of history. The grub was okay. Being a puppet the place you come and get some pints. It's a nice thing to do at least once in your life. I say what charm this place has, it has to come from its old furniture and its decorations. Charming you will find it. A bit of the way from Central London.

Such a treat! We had a great night (again) at the pub and sat upstairs in the restaurant as downstairs it was Quiz night. Our friendly waitress Lucy was superb and ensured we were happy throughout the night. The food was as good as the pictures look…. So yum! Keep on doing what you do.

Fantastic romantic evening in the restaurant was had. Food was exceptional. The mushrooms on toast starter was sublime followed by the swordfish main with their exceptional volcano mayo. We shared two desserts... sticky toffe pudding was like eating air so soft the sponge. And a magnificent cheese board to end the meal. The staff were on point and kind.

Absolutely amazing pub dinner. Really gorgeous vibe to this place, exactly what you'd imagine a pub to be and with amazing views over the Thames. The staff were so so friendly and attentive with their service. The food was outstanding and really good value. I had the wild mushrooms on toast to start, which I cannot describe in words alone. So so so good. Epic slow roasted pork shoulder for main. And one of the nicest sticky toffee puddings I've had for dessert. Really lovely and treacly. We also shared a cheeseboard. Such lovely cheeses and crackers with a delicious chutney. Would definitely recommend to anyone!

Lovely ambience, lovely environment, lovely location, lovely food. HOWEVER, service was sub par, waitress ignored us, and food took 1 hour to arrive, when everyone around us got their food first, despite them arriving significantly later. Despite this though, I would still recommend this pub as the food is great and not THAT expensive (£15 for fish and chips). Pints range from £5 to £7, although most are around £6. Good experience overall!

Our new favourite Friday evening pub! This pub is tucked away in such a beautiful corner of the Riverside. The service is excellent and if you're lucky you can bag a seat on the patio above the Thames. They also have a good selection of crisps (Monster Munch!).

Serves really good ales different from other tied houses. Service is much better than the Salt Quay pub.

Great food at the restaurant. Prices are a little bit higher than usual for a pub - likely based on the location - but the food is worth it I would say. Decent vegetarian options. And the service was good as well. It’s an intimate dimly lit restaurant, which I personally don’t enjoy but it is still a nice spot for a pub dinner.

Excellent Sunday roast, I had the lamb for ~£18 and it was delicious. They have good vegetarian options too, and outdoor seating when it's warmer. We managed to get a seat outside but it's very popular so looks like booking would be a good idea.

Incredible location and solid beer prices. The sausage and mash was one of the best I've tried. This kind of pub I'll actually go from quite a bit away to visit but would even more like it as my local.

Fantastic location by the river Thames, good selection of well kept cask ales served in excellent condition. A must visit for the sunset and views alone. Fried White Bait and chips were both super tasty. Must be one of the best first date pubs out there. Highly recommended

Some of the staff were verging on rude and the food, at best, could be described as mediocre (despite them claiming to have the best fish and chips in London). It was also well over priced due to the quality of food and staff service. We sat in the restaurant. Unfortunately it was super noisy due to a group of "full of their own self importance" student types. This wasn't helped by the staff then putting music on, which the group had to compete with. I know it's a pub, but it's still nice to be able to have some conversation over a meal. The pub itself is beautiful and it's in a great location. It's so old and I'd imagine, full of tales. It's probably worth popping in to for a quick half.

Great menu and welcoming atmosphere. Good selection of vegan options. Food is outstanding. We go to Mayflower regularly with friends. We had great food from Christmas menu this month! Butternut squash was amazing and should go for regular menu. The pub is very old and definitely worth a visit. You can see the river from the outdoor terrace.

The place certainly deserves an overall five-star rating due to the combination of its vibe, foods, and services. Although the indoor seats are relatively narrow and limited, the extension of ground floor are basically on the Thames River. You can totally enjoy the wonderful scenery while having a beer or a proper meal with friends and loved ones. Grab the available seats first and make your order! The confit duck I tried was delicious. However, I do think the peas and sauce accompanied were too salty to me in the end. Food portion was pretty ideal for a male adult. The rib and wings platter was very nice. I like how it came with roasted corns. You can observe a lot of legacy photographs and historical items related to the famous Mayflower ship. Staffs were very friendly and helpful. The highlight was definitely the sunset in summer. Recommend to all.

Wanted to experience dining in an old pub in London on my trip there, so after some digging, I found out about the Mayflower. With prior reservation, I was able to book a table for dinner. The pub itself has a great atmosphere, with lots of pictures and documents regarding the history of the pub and days in the XVII century. The staff was very friendly. And the food very very good. There I had the authentic Guinness beer and it tasted so good. Not at all like the caned one back at home. I definitely recommend this place! But don't forget to make a reservation. The restaurant upstairs wasn't that full, but the pub and terrace downstairs were.

I’m not sure what to say. It’s very historic and the atmosphere is perfect. Food is not too bad but flavours tend on the salty side. However, the service was not good. Maybe it’s because we didn’t make a reservation (I’m grateful you accommodated us, but you made it abundantly clear you were “accommodating” and not welcoming us), or maybe it was because we reached before 5. When we reached, the staff said “sit anywhere you find” we couldn’t find a table on the first floor so we went upstairs. When we were upstairs, she said she can’t take walk ins upstairs before 5. You could have said that earlier. So we went downstairs and sat in the outside area. But we had to wait over 20 mins to be served, and eventually I had to approach the bartender behind the bar to take my food order (because nobody would take our food order lol). Then, I had to ask the bartender if there was a table on the second floor available, which surprise there was. So we moved upstairs. Staff proactively provided water to other guests - we had to ask for water. Every time the staff saw us, she acted surprised like she forgot we existed.

An absolute gem of a pub. Especially good for a date or taking American visitors 😉. But even if you're not interested in the history this pub is a darling day out. Stay down stairs for the 'pub' atmosphere. It has a deck 'pub garden' for the summer and a fireplace for the winter. Or head upstairs for a dining experience. The service was great, the food delicious (fish & chips, or even vegan options), and there light makes you feel like you are on a ship. Upstairs or downstairs every inch has something interesting to look at.

The Mayflower (named after the ship) is a small quirky historical pub by the Thames just a short walk from Rotherhithe Station. The Guinness I had in there was really good and the bar staff are friendly, I didn't try the food but many were eating in there and the menu did look tempting. I would say it is more of a pub that tourists would visit than locals but it has the location by the river and the history so that's why it's busy.

Been looking forward to visiting the Mayflower in London for a long time and it did not disappoint! It was amazing to see the history around this historic pub and the decking outside was amazing to see too. Great selection of beer and the food was lovely too, I had the Seafood Risotto whilst my partner had the Meat Platter. Overall amazing pub, cosy atmosphere (was like being in Dickens era) with welcoming staff. Will definitely be visiting here again next year when I’m back in London.

Pub with nice decor, really cosy and views to the river. The roast is amazing, I meant to go there and have their roast for a long time and was not left disappointed. It's a bit on the dear side, but at the end of the day it's a gastro pub. Roast was £16.95, dessert £7, pint of neckoil £7. The sticky toffee pudding is one of the best I've had to date, but the baked cheesecake was a massive disappointment as it wasn't a baked cheesecake as suggested nor tasted any good, left pretty much all of it and still got charged for it even when saying I didn't enjoy it at all, but apart from that 10/10 hence the 5 stars.

Lovely little pub in Rotherhithe v near the Brunel Museum and on the river. We only popped in for a drink but managed to get a table outside overlooking the river. Service was quick, Covid rules mean you are currently served at your table not the bar. The food looked v good too and it's on the Thames path route so handy for walkers and cyclists. V cosy inside too. Lovely spot.

Olde-worlde pub with an entrance off a cobbled road and the back opens onto the river. Looks like it was built in the 1950s in a tudorbethan style and so has that authentic old pub feel! Inside it’s dark and snug - tables with high-backed benches and an ambience that makes you want to say ‘gaaaarrr’ and set sail on the high seas! Food is very acceptable and reasonably priced. Good range of beers. There’s a pretty-printed history-of-the-pub brochure available that gives some proper history of the pub and its name. Really enjoyed my visit and this will be a lovely local pub, plus a destination in the summer for some evening riverside drinks.

Great historic pub. Great location on the river too. Only problem is it's too small and too popular. Often gets crowded

Although we booked a week in advance for an upstairs table, when we arrived we were offfered a downstairs table very cramped . We complained and were offered a very small table where it was difficult to make conversation above the noise. An empty spacious table beside us stairs empty the whole evening and was not offered to us. Towards the end of the evening we asked for a more comfortable table which was empty and this time we were allowedx to move but we were disappointed by this experience which spoilt an otherwise delicious meal. When we paid our bill we were told that although the comfortable table beside us had been booked 2 hours ahead of our arrival it's not policy to offer it to early customers on a time limited basis.

Back to 5 stars, outdoor tarp has gone! Amazing spot on the river thames ....... Love this pub, should rate it low to keep people away, good pub food and plenty of friendly staff, plus you get to eat ON the Thames - have lowered it to 3 stars.. as they have recently put an "temporary" tarp on the terrace.. which isn't so temp...

Historic pub, apparently where the mayflower ship left from taking the pilgrim fathers to the US about 400 years ago. Claims to be the oldest pub on the Thames though a few pubs make that claim. Nice historic interior and rear seating overlooking the Thames.

I love the atmosphere and the vibe this pub gives. The location is lovely and if you step out in their garden the view is magical! Not too much choices for the beers, while the food menu is quite wide. Staff very friendly !

Historic pub on the river Thames. A must visit. Really good service. The potted crab was delicious. Unfortunately the pie was way too overbaked.

Lovely little pub sat on the south bank of the Thames tucked away between the old work buildings that over the years have now been converted into residential property. Good selection of tasty food at a reasonable price and great friendly staff. It was a first visit, but won't be my last.

Local pub with a riverfront outdoor seating (covered from rain). Tried lamb & chicken Sunday roasts and both were delicious!

A cold day to visit but kept warm due to outdoor heaters as we sat outside overlooking the Thames. Fish and chips and sticky toffee pudding were excellent and service friendly and helpful though my sons did have to wait a bit longer for their order even though girlfriend and I ordered after them.

One of the most famous pubs in South London, but it's not overrated. Great service even when crowded, amazing thameside views on the back patio. But the inside is just as good. Probably best inside on a cold winter day, and outside on a breezy summer one.

  • 5/5 Natalie H. 2 years ago on Google
I came here on a quiet, wintery Monday for a few beers and a light bite. The outdoor heaters were on, and the views of a quiet Thames were a treat. The staff were friendly, and there was a good variety of food and beers available.

Delicious food, and good company. This is one of the oldest pubs in the area (maybe even in London) and it has a really simple, ye old world charm. I just spent the evening drinking leffe, dining on mussels/ a lovely cheeseboard. A delightful distraction and I look forward to my next visit. If you're in the area I recommend a visit.

Amazing historical pub, great atmosphere, friendly staff, nice cold beer and super delicious huge portions food. I was sitting in terrace over Thames with lovely view. Perfect pub, especially in summer heat 🍻

This Pub provides all you could imagine a 1700s Pub should offer in atmosphere. The food was very good. Bonus for Americans... if you are a descendant from the Mayflower you may sign their book. Don't miss a chance to see the amazing Pub!

Will revisit to try their food. What a pub. They have quality beer on tap including Leffe. Full of history and the staff and very friendly. Lots to see in this pub including pamphlets on its history. Indoor and outdoor seating available. I believe they also have Wifi too!

Excellent food in a cozy, down to earth atmosphere. The Sunday roast was delicious--the sauce was flavorful and potatoes were slightly crispy, as if baked after steamed. The lamb neck with couscous could not have been better--tender and juicy meat falling off the bone. Starters were excellent as well-- delicate scallops with avo and bacon, and spicy squid in cream sauce with a baguette. One of the best meals!

Excellent British pub on the banks of Thames. On a bright day, you can enjoy an amazing meal or a few chill drinks with an exquisite panoramic view of the river. The food is super tasty and service is excellent. A must-visit pub in London.

  • 4/5 Rebecca G. 1 year ago on Google
Feels a bit like traveling back in time. Great ambience. Two vegetarian Sunday roast options: veg pie (not so great); veg Wellington (v good). Nice place to pass on wintry afternoon. Imagine it's even nicer in summer.

Fun pub on the Thames River. The fish and chips were delicious. My cousin has a gluten intolerance and was thrilled to be able to get gluten free fish and chips. My daughter had the steak pie, which also was tasty. The inside decor was authentic and lively. Great all around meal.

Good place for some amazing cuisine and have a lot of vegetarian options. I really enjoyed the vegetable platter. It had an array of deep fried vegetables with cucumber to cauliflower. The burger was soft and filled with flavour. It had a slight crunch and filled with various textures. Absolutely loved the sweet potato fries which really accentuated the saltiness and crunchiness of the deep fried potato. A great place with good service.

Great little pub! A little small/snug, but felt really traditional because of it. I only got a drink, Thames path pit stop, but from the back landing I could see old and new London. Did not eat but what came out of kitchen looked immense.

  • 5/5 Clint W. 9 months ago on Google
Supposedly this is the oldest pub in London and it is awesome. The food, the staff, the beers or BIERS/Ale/Lager are awesome. They have a back patio deck thing that overlooks the thames river and as it's told This is the pub that Christopher Columbus and others used to visit and moored their ships up outside So that was really neat. The inside is decorated with old school history from the 1700s era and more! Definetly stop in and grab a few pints of the local mayflower scurvy ale! It's awesome!

We Travelled over 1hr to come to see this historic pub it's always Been on my to do list and I wasn't disappointed it had beautiful interior and a great outdoor space on the veranda where they had bench tables over looking the Thames, and the food menu was reasonably priced and the food came quick and was delicious. Also had a vast range of beers which always takes me ages to choose . But all in all and beautiful pub with lots of history and character 😀

Very nice pub to visit. Good food, good beer and food views. Best place to sit is the outside area facing the river. We had the chicken pie and fish and chips and both were good. Will definitely visit again

This is a pub with a lot of character. The food is good, staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is unbeatable. Good ambient music as well. Not cheap, but that comes with the location. I highly recommend it.

This pub has a great atmosphere with a lot of history which can be felt and seen everywhere. The waiters were very friendly and helpful. We had a delicious dinner and a great spot to sit with my family. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures of the food apart from the dessert (sticky toffee pudding). All in all a memorable last evening in London. Definitely worth a visit!

Great pub in Rotherhithe literally on top of Thames. Great as soon as We got there the bar staff were friendly. We dined in and had some lovely fish and chips as well as sausages and mash. To finish off with the best cheese cake (pecan something) I have had. Very friendly waitress. Well worth a visit again.

The Mayflower is known for its riverfront patio, though I’d argue that the upstairs restaurant area is the best vibe of the place! Cozy, atmospheric, and lovely. Wherever you sit it’ll be a good time. Nice selection of beer and wine. Food is a little pricey but generally good quality. Service is always friendly.
