Wow what a pub! Great vibe and quite busy on a Saturday afternoon. Skews party pub. Some amazing history and some cool old rooms inside. Both indoor and outdoor seating was great. Staff kept up with the madness. An awesome place to stop for a pint.

We came here to eat but being from the US, it was hard to tell what we had to do. You order at the bar and they bring you your food by your table number. The bar was busy so we just had drinks and left. The atmosphere is nice, the outside seating was nice, but we did have panhandlers who kept bothering us. Hope you have a better experience but we couldn't speak about the food because we didn't have any. Thank you anyway, George.

One of my favourite places to drink in London. Really charming and beautiful old building. Excellent for those late summer evenings in the extensive courtyard. Always seem to find my way back to hear when ever heading back to London Bridge Station. Today's visit was returning after a day at the cricket. Good beer, decent food all great value, will definitely recommend and return soon Staff friendly and attentive

Great pub. It's actually the only surviving galleried London coaching Inn. Original interiors and amazing atmosphere makes you want to just stay in, drink and eat. Food was fantastic. I recommend fried chicken burger. You can also spot original gas lanterns that not many are left in London. Well done for owners for keeping this little pearl of geart London history in such a good shape.

When there are festive events going on in London Bridge area or Borough Market, we always seem to finally end up at the George pub. It has a large court yard from which you can see The Shard and they do have outside heaters . The place is big with many sections. There's all a fire place at the front end.. 2 sets of toilets..one at far back and one at the front in a separate building. Staff are friendly.. bar gets busy but you get served quick. Anything from full meals or just coffee and chips.

Great pub with bar area and lots of different seating options. They do take reservations. I had the steak and ale pie and it was delicious. It's a lively pub with a great atmosphere.

The George Inn, or The George, is a public house established in the medieval period on Borough High Street in, London, owned and leased by the National Trust. It is located about 250 metres (820 ft) from the south side of the River Thames near London Bridge & the Borough Market and is the only surviving galleried London coaching inn. The staff are friendly and helpful in accommodating & their knowledge of the history of the building. The beers, wines & spirits are varied & good value for the centre of London. Plenty of seating within this establishment, parasols on each table & a heated courtyard with long benches and tables. Definitely worth a visit.

There were 3 outdoor screens - the lighting was cute and the view of The Shard was phenomenal. The staff were super friendly and the ambiance was buzzing with laughter and chat. Went back 2 days in a row to try some of the food and the mushroom something (pictured) was honestly the best dish I’ve had my entire life They also have some beer on tap that is local and so flipping cheap I forgot I was in London

A very nice pub with old architectures in a great location It’s great for drinks and snacks, but we went for dinner which wasn’t what we expected. The menus looked great,,but the actual food looked and tasted like microwave food or cooked from frozen except for macaroni and cheese. I had a chicken house salad and the chicken was dry and might have been cooked in a plastic bag. When we walked in, we saw people being served a huge plate of fish and chips, but when ours came, it didn’t look no where as nice as that. There might have been a change of shift and a different cook was in charge. There was only one person serving the entire restaurant upstairs and we had to be patient. Despite the disappointing food, we enjoyed our drinks and the ambience.

Perfect Location near London Bridge. They have indoor and outdoor seats which were great. The food was delicious, a bit pricey but it is in central. Place was a vibe as well.

This historic pub is the only remaining galleried coaching inn in London and is a ‘must visit’ for both Londoners and tourists. The entrance to the large courtyard is through a metal arch off Borough High Street, offering plenty of outdoor seating for fair weather drinking. Although parts of the original buildings were demolished by the London and North Eastern Railway, they thankfully sold the remainder to the National Trust in 1937, who now lease it to Greene King. The only downside is that a lot of the surrounding area has not faired so well and some of the views are a little ugly. Nevertheless a minor complaint, and certainly nothing that Greene King or anyone else can do much about!

A hidden historical gem, beautiful architecture spread over many floors with large outdoor covered courtyard. Relaxed atmosphere, dog friendly with own dog-themed ale and good selection of pub grub. Highly recommended for locals and tourists alike. Can get busy, but worth the wait.

The perfect pub with a lot of space, alcohol selection, and food. Plus the scenery (both inside and out) creates a great environment for all parties!

Wonderful courtyard and decent drinks but worst pub food I have tried. The steak sandwich bread was so bad I had to leave it and the steak was extremely overcooked and seemed reheated. Definitely worth going for drinks but don’t eat there!

This is pub is one of national trust property. A listed building. It’s a part Greene King pub chain. Food and drinks are good. Reasonable priced for the location. We had Sunday roast here. The Yorkshire pudding was great. You can get 20% off of food if you have a Bluelight card. - working NHS, fire service or police. Nearest station is London Bridge. No parking available on site.

We hired a room for a Sunday lunch time. Good food, well looked after. Lively pub with courtyard views from balcony. Recommended.

We had the sunday roast meals. Food came really fast, in good proportion and was quite delicious. Staff was also very friendly too. The only downside is that you must download their app for ordering which took forever to download and get it set up. The app was badly designed, slow and not working properly occasionally.

Absolutely incredible pub. The food was amazing and I genuinely was stuffed. I highly recommend the fish and chips as well as the burger. The chicken Kyiv was fresh and moise which was amazing. Our server was incredibly attentive and friendly. He could tell we were interested in the history of the pub and brought us an info sheet as well as told us a bit about the area. It was great food, great people, and I will definitely be back with family and friends who come to visit me in London.

Built in 1864 as a large hotel, the old George Tavern welcomed guests from all walks of life to London’s Isle of dogs. And despite it being remodeled in 1932, The George of today is no different. As one of the few remaining pubs on the Island. There are delicious food, cask and craft ales, premium and spirits, fine wines and heated beer garden. The steak and caramelized onion sandwich with cheese sauce, served with rich beef gravy, is a truly fantastic and delicious menu option. I absolutely love it. Every bite is exquisite, with tender and flavorful beef. The atmosphere inside is as cozy as being at home, and the potato chips are also excellent.

Great place to grab a pint! Opened in 1676, it has so much character. We went on a rainy day so wasn't too busy but I can imagine crowds on nice days. Good selection of beer! Fantastic location! One of the best places near Borough Market.

Came here for dinner with the family and had a great experience! We went upstairs which had a nice private area for us to enjoy. Great English pub experience and the service was absolutely amazing! The food was sooo good! Would definitely come back!

Second visit: We were offered a meal to make up for the first time we came (see below). There was only 1 waitress upstairs for the whole floor. The roast was actually very tasty but the meat was very thin, overdone and there wasn't very much of it! See pics. More meat was sent out which was better cooked. Very slow service as only 1 waitress - it took 1.5hrs to have our roast dinner. First visit: We sat in the coachhouse for an hour before someone could tell us that they don't serve roast dinners in there despite there being menus on the table!!! The staff seem very incompetent at knowing what is on the menu and especially allergies. My nephew now only has the option of eating a plate of chips as apparently no one knows what is suitable for him and there are no plain sausages or meat available. Awful service.

3 of us dropped into The George after an afternoon wandering around Borough Market. We were able to get a table right away and there was a great selection of drinks. Staff were so friendly and the pub has a great atmosphere! A really good pub and they have a nice outside area too, will be coming back for sure.

I booked a table for 8 of us for a post Xmas get together. There was 3 vegetarian’s with us. Let me just say the food was outstanding at every level. The steak and ale pie was one of the best I’ve ever had. Thank you for making it such a lovely day.

Went here with a group from a conference and it was a very good experience. It was a big group ~30 people and we had a room just for us, where they would deliver very tasty food. The toilets are big and clean with several booths. We had a tab open that eased the way we got beers. Some of the food was really tasty, like the nachos ❤️

Heard about The George from our London Free Walking Tour guide. Sounds like it is the oldest tavern in the London area. Lots of energy with a good beer & pub food selection! Will definitely stop in again!

Delicious steak and fish and chips for our meals. Table service was slow but it was extremely busy! A lovely bit of history tucked away between buildings!

We wanted to visit this historic pub during our break in London. It is a super stunning building and our plan was just to have a cold drink on a very hot day. Well, it was only just 11am and it had literally just opened. However, we were so taken by the friendly way we were welcomed, we decided to to have lunch early. My wife had a fish finger sandwich and I had a steak one. Both were delicious. We shared a bowl of gorgeous chips. The beer was very good too! Again, everyone we came into contact with were just so friendly and helpful. I would also like to mention that the building and the grounds are kept in lovely condition and looked resplendent with flowers. I would definitely return during a future visit to London. Thank to everyone we met, its a shame other establishments cant do the same hospitality. Well done!

This place is lovely. Make a reservation because it was packed. The food was amazing, you can download their app and order to your table or go to the bar and order from there. The seats are not super comfortable but it is cozy, most of the building is still very old style like it used to be and I heard that it survived the big London fire, so it's worth visiting it.

Great pub tucked in near Borough Market. I enjoyed the fish and chips platter, loved the curry sauce and pickled onions included. Waitstaff were friendly and the pints were cold.

A fine pub. Beautiful. Such a grand old house with the Shard looming over it is incredible and really adds to the atmosphere. The interior is like going back in time. The barman was impressively efficient given how busy it was! I love the general vibe and the live music out in the garden.

I am a Brit living in the U.S. and traveling with an American friend. The George is good place to feel some of the history of Britain. The staff are friendly. The service is good, as is the beer. However, I ordered a long-anticipated sausage and mash as I love and miss English pork sausages. I was at first embarrassed, then disappointed, then angry.. The sausages we were served were clearly re-heated from last night’s leftovers, as were the mashed potatoes. This kind of food service is the reason British food has had such a bad reputation worldwide. I thought that was a thing of the past, but not at The George. They are holding onto history a bit too much. That kind of service does not respect the customer. The fish and chips at the next table looked good, however. Hard to serve yesterday’s fried fish. There is a reason the lines for hot sandwiches, sausage rolls or paella at nearby Borough Market are very long at lunch time….the are fresh and delicious.

Lovely drinkers pub with a huge range of ales at several prices, and pies served. Bookable rooms upstairs and tables can be reserved. Famed as 'Shakespeare's local' but a great pub in its own right, ideal for good conversation with friends or a quiet pint with a book.

Old style building with good atmosphere and nice space inside and outside. Was quite busy on Thursday evening. One bar is quite small but didn't queue too long. Would recommend. Haven't tried the food but menu looked decent.

Fantastic 17 century coaching inn owned by the National Trust. I had a very nice dinner with some very expensive beer (£6.60 for Neckoil) but then it is a very special place! Well worth a visit!

  • 3/5 Nikko 2 years ago on Google
The place is great. Such an amazing courtyard just 5 mins walking from London Bridge station. The rating would go to a much higher number were not for the poor food we got. The halloumi was not nice to eat and the Korean chicken wings were bland with not a pinch of Korean flavour. Would go back for drinks but never to eat a thing there.

Lovely looking pub, very friendly staff. Great fish and chips. Disappointed by the cheesecake which wasn't at all the one described in the menu. Queried it but was told it was correct, bit odd.Hot pot was okay.

Awesome pub right next to Borough Market/London Bridge! The courtyard offers lovely views of the Shard and the pub has ample seating space both outside and inside. The building itself reminds me of the building style from New Orleans, very cool. It can get busy post work time so be aware if planning to go during the week between 5 and 7.
