Don't like leaving negative reviews but this pub was in a terrible state.. I originally went for food but ended up only ordering a coke which was down one end of the bar but then ordered by the barman to collect up the other end after paying 3.75p for a small coke. The toilets were absolutely shocking, filthy dirty and no attempt to clean. I would of thought this particular public house would of had something about it due to its prime location. Needles to say, I won't be returning

A busy pub at the north end of Whitehall, a stone's throw from Trafalgar Square. Another pub in the Greene King Stable, and a good one too! There is plenty of room being eagerly taken up by the London visitors, all enjoying themselves it appears. Great service and a jolly atmosphere. Plenty of choice both keg and cask, including TT Landlord. Downstairs for more seating. A great place.

I was there on Friday night and I didn’t get good vibes. They close the kitchen at 8pm 😧I was in there for birthday party and I couldn’t get anything to eat 5 past 8 and I get bottle of wine but they couldn’t find wine glasses at the bar even I bought second bottle after one hour they still didn’t have glasses, I had to use gin glass for my wine. It was a nightmare experience in London pub. They don’t normally deserve one star but service was one good thing in there. Guys if you don’t know how to run the pub please let someone else do. Pub is traditional in this country please do not destroy it specially in that area.

This is a busy pub. Ordered a steak and ale pie and it was very good (almost no meat though) but the crust tastes good. Staff are friendly. Plenty of beer selection. Cleanliness 3/5.

Visiting London for the first time, wanted to have the traditional Fish & Chips with a beer! Of the many, many places around the city, we were so glad to end up in this incredible place near Picadilly Circle! Scott our server was incredibly friendly & the food was AMAZING! Wont be disappointed!!!

Silver Cross was a classic pub! The vibes were great and staff were kind. The fish and chips were decent, tasty and fresh! The pub also has a great selection of beers on tap!!

A historic and vibrant pub in the heart of Whitehall, right next to the Trafalgar Square. I’ve been there a couple of times and it seems to be always extremely busy. The food is rather standard for a pub, nothing creative, but nice. Good selection of beers, I’ve ordered IPA and was given a larger, but they quickly changed it, which was nice. The food takes long to arrive, but this could be due to the fact that the place was busy. Overall, a nice oldish pub that used to be a certified public house frequented by members of royalty.

Very nice experience! We had the big fish and chips and the mac and cheese with bacon and both were very very good! The service was good and everyone there where was very pleasant. There's plenty of seating and and they bring your food out very quickly. Highly recommended.

Usually make an effort to go here when we're in London. It's an old pub with real history and is constantly busy. We just had drinks this time but had a look at the menu and were very impressed with the selection on offer. May go back to try some.. Great selection of ales and lagers on offer. We did go back the next day and we're very lucky to get a table. We had a sharing platter of Japanese Karaage Sticky Chicken, Cod Goujons and Nidderdale Sausages in a honey and mustard dressing. It was all superb and well worth the return trip. Highly recommended.

They were so speedy serving all of us! It was a Tuesday, normally a quiet night but we all came in after our show 60 people! And we were served so quickly and so well looked after! Great lovely fun staff. Highly recommend ♥️♥️ MILES IS A BABE XXX

One of my favourite pubs in the area. Food is good as is the service. Good selection of ales and ipas. A bit too crowded at times.

Called here for a snack and pleasantly surprised at how big it actually is, like a tardis, outside doesn't do justice to the inside. Drinks and food are good quality, service excellent.

A busy pub that's just a stone's throw from Trafalgar Square, I had a great pint of Camden Hells. Great service and a good atmosphere, plenty of room and there is more seating downstairs. Great pub, will definitely return next time I'm in the area.

We've just spent 4 weeks in the UK and dined at a lot of places, including upmarket London restaurants and the Silver Cross share pub plates are up there amongst the best. Food was so fresh and tasty. The Crispy Battered Cod Goujons were the best fish I've tasted in the UK and the Maple Glazed Pigs in Blanket were 'to die for'........ 10/10

We stopped in here after a long busy day of sightseeing for a beer and some delicious food, and let me tell you... it did not disappoint! It was very busy when we entered, but managed to find a table no problem as they have over 100 tables. The steak and ale pie was absolutely amazing! Our food came out piping hot, and our drinks ice cold. This would definitely be a stop I would make again if we ever come back to London.

Nice but dirty place. Every table was sticky and full of glasses who haven't been picked up, there was also a lot of trash on the floor. But they had really nice music and pretty decorations!! You only have service if you buy food, drinks are self-service. Overall okayish pub, but more touristic kind of place. Will sadly not be visiting again.

Lovely service and a cosy low light environment, the food was good as well. Got sharing plates with my parents and it was enough to feed us all happily. The Beer Cheese and Pretzel was the show stopper for us.

Great lunch, they serve a considerable amount of food, and the price is pretty good for central London. The atmosphere was nice, low lights and not a lot of noise. Will definitely eat here again

The bar looked like it needed some repairs with torn out couches. But don't let that deter you. The food is great, and of course the people managing the pub! Would love to come back

"Classic pub" for tourists or at least this is the sensation for me. It's next to Trafalgar square so it's not bad if you are tired after a tour and you're looking for a place to try fish and chips and have a good 🍺🍻 beer. Good quality food in my humble opinion of a tourist in these British lands.

Just when I didn't think it was possible but Greene King has defined a new low (even for them). Description was meant to have "rosemary-salted fries, smoky BBQ relish and onion rings" all missing from my meal - I was not told when ordering that I would not receive these items. Ketchup was missing from the table so I asked for some but the waitress never returned. Person at the bar couldn't be bothered to take my order and most draught beer and lager was unavailable. So I paid £13.49 for a tasteless, unapealling, undersized burger along with a small portion of fries covered by a huge amount of poor service.

Great food, huge portions! Cosy atmosphere, wasn’t very busy when we visited so we didn’t wait too long for our food. Will be back :)

Stumbled upon this restaurant while walking through London and stopped in for dinner. The atmosphere was great. We were extremely comfortable and picked a table that worked best for us. My girlfriend has gluten and diary allergies so it is hard for her to eat out. Emilio went above and beyond to make sure all of her allergen concerns were taken care of including going down to speak to the manager and chef to confirm that her food was prepared properly. The meal was delicious. I had the fish and chips and got a huge piece of fish and she had steak that was cooked perfectly. We plan to return to London and would definitely come back to Silver Corss.

I could have done it better, at home!! Went with family visiting London on 6th December 2022 at lunch time, checked the whole menu and decided to order some sharing platters. At the till, the waitress informed us that they had no sharers available. Thanks for the (late) notice! Changed the order. Decided to go for a Chicken and Bacon sandwich £7.29 which stated "SLICED chicken, smoked STREAKY bacon". Instead I received two sad slices of brown bread taken from the bag, spread with a mixture of chicken, bacon and mayo and onions. No mentions of onion was made on the menu. Asked the waitress who confirmed that that was my order. Informed the waiter at the end who shrugged his shoulders without interest. Never again! UPDATE: despite my efforts to contact the owner, as requested in the reply to my review, no one ever answered the phone. Very disappointing

This is a big pub at the Trafalgar Square end of Whitehall. Over the years I have often popped in here for drinks as it’s a reliable place to get a pint and a seat. Glad to see Covid hasn’t changed that and this remains a good stop. Choice of lagers is good. Have never eaten here so cannot comment on the food, but I think it’s a Greene King, so should be of a decent quality.

Visited yesterday before the theatre for a spot of Sunday lunch which was delicious and reasonably priced for central London. Pub was very busy but manager kept it under control and was advising everyone on food time which really helped us with time keeping. Will definitely be visiting this little gem again.

Very busy pub but clearly very well managed. Ordered our food and drink at the bar, staff were friendly and polite. Our food arrived quickly especially considering how busy it was and was delicious.

It is a large pub. It was busy. But staff did their best to serve everyone quickly. Didn't eat but saw lots of fish and chips being served that looked ( and smelt!) Lovely. Happy to visit again! Understand Thursday and Friday evenings and Sunday morning are busiest.

Fun pub with many twists and turns and areas to sit which creates a sort of open intimacy thus pleasant to hang out in for a pint but food was fairly average.

Not a bad pub, decent amount of screens to watch live sport. Came in prior to football and asked about food and was told that there was no food orders. During the match. Not only did one portion of food arrive to our table that we didn’t order but several. We then asked are “you serving food now?” Whilst the waiter was holding food then proceeded to say. “I’ll go and check” for a moment I thought I was in a comedy club..

Although the food isn't bad the portion size is suitable for kids but with an adult price tag. Very small portion and to be honest the staff attitude was shocking, when I said that the burger was small for the price, he said and I quote "well you shouldn't be such a big bloke, that's an average size burger for an average person"!!! I'm on holiday, and lucky I didn't punch his head in. The burger although it tasted nice was no bigger than a macdonalds hamburger. My brother had fish and chips (large) and that was a nice portion but the hunters chicken and the burger was very small.

Dropped in for a quick drink and snack while in the area as reasonable prices for London. Bit early for food served from 1pm but Josh and Marc were very helpful and fun to chat with. Older style pub but lots of seats and drinks on offer. Over a few levels so you always find a place mid day but gets busy at night. Been before and will always come back as a good tourist stopover.

Josh is a friendly and efficient bartender and made my lunch enjoyable. The atmosphere is classy and relaxed, with no loud music. The food is fabulous and prices are hard to beat. My fav London pub!

I visited this pub recently and had a really pleasant time. We were served by Stacy who was warm, friendly and made us laugh. She got us a table and made it really comfortable for us to get drinks despite who bust it was. It was a great way to start the evening ahead of the show we had planned.

It’s unique and quite affordable surprisingly we only paid 20£ for drinks and food, and that’s in Trafalgar Sq London! You’ve got to try chicken wings ❤️ place is quite cosy with lovely staff. We definitely coming back again!

Nice place, ideal if you want to spend some time with your friends. On two levels. Only bad thing, the ladies' bathroom doors were not closing, but everything else was perfect. Great food
