I recently had the pleasure of dining at the The Marquis Cornwallis, and it was truly a fantastic experience. The food and drinks at this establishment exceeded my expectations in every way. First and foremost, the menu offered a diverse selection of delectable dishes, catering to a wide range of tastes. From classic pub fare to more adventurous options, there was something for everyone. The quality of the ingredients and the skill of the chefs were evident in every bite. I particularly enjoyed the Fish And Chips, which was a delightful blend of flavours and beautifully presented. Big thanks to their Head Chef Ramona, truly delicious food 😋 The drink options were equally impressive. The bar staff was knowledgeable and friendly, and they crafted some of the best cocktails I've ever had. The beer and wine selection was also extensive, ensuring that every guest could find something to quench their thirst. The atmosphere of the pub was cozy and inviting, making it the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a meal. The service was attentive, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure our dining experience was exceptional.

Nice little pub with a pleasant atmosphere/vibe. The standard selection of beers on tap 2x Staropramen for £10.50 in London is a pretty good price. Didn't try the food though having seen it served to other tables, looked good. Would recommend as a stop if you're in the area!

I was very sad to see that an old favourite of mine was so poor value for money when we visited. This is a beautiful pub, but their food prices are significantly higher than competitors in the area, and the management were rather unapologetic when asked about this. For context, we paid £4.50 and received about 18 chips (if you count the shrapnel; less if you only count whole chips). That’s 25p per chip. It’s really unfortunate to have to review this place so poorly. You can see from my reviews of plenty of other places (including pricey places!) that I’m not used to being negative. ***Edit: another portion was brought, but with the clear message that the extra portion was not to be expected ever again***

Amazing place! The food was delicious and the portions were more than enough. Cocktails were on point, especially the mezcalita and hibiscus refresher. Staff were friendly and helpful! Beautiful pub atmosphere.

Perched in the bustling heart of Greater London, The Marquis Cornwallis serves as a splendid refuge, encapsulating the quintessence of British public house tradition. Upon one’s arrival, a congenial atmosphere extends a warm invitation, marrying the charm of antiquity with contemporary comfort, thus resonating the spirit of a classic British tavern. Interiors bedecked with tasteful aesthetics offer a blend of cosy and capacious settings, while the external patio caters to those partial to al fresco revelry. The dining experience at The Marquis Cornwallis honours the heritage of British cuisine, with each plate narrating a culinary tale steeped in time-honoured traditions. From the ever-pleasing fish and chips to succulent Sunday roasts, the menu satiates the palate with generous portions of hearty fare. An exquisite medley of ales, beers, wines, and spirits holds court over the beverage selection, ready to accompany each meal or stand alone for a relaxed imbibe. The punctilious staff, well-acquainted with the tavern’s offerings, ensure a seamless service. One might note a crescendo in ambient sound during peak hours and a tendency towards the higher end of the pricing spectrum. Nevertheless, the genuine quality and charisma of The Marquis Cornwallis balance the scales. In essence, for those in pursuit of an authentic British pub experience, this esteemed establishment offers an unforgettable sojourn.

Very friendly staff and a good selection of food and drinks. Right next to the hotel and tube so it's perfect if you're shortly staying down here in London.

So disappointed with this place. Was on a weekend break in London and looked up a good spot for Sunday roast near to our hotel. Food came out in literally 5 minutes which is never a good sign. Small portion, chewy and soggy Yorkshire pudding that was sitting there all day I'd say. 3 slices of very tough beef that I had to leave half of behind because it was inedible. No peas as was advertised with the roast. £5.25 service charge, service poor but clear that front of house staff ran off their feet no complaints for them but whoever is running that kitchen is a disgrace. £19.5 for a roast is a significant amount and you expect it to be atleast decent. Don't waste your hard earned money here

This place serves really great fish (haddock) and chips which are nicely seasoned and comes with peas, tartar sauce and ketchup. Batter is quite salty but it's not overbearing. Service is quick. You can order food through the app or at the bar. Toilets are upstairs (disabled toilet on ground floor).

Welcome to this quirky and utterly British spot, where comfort meets tradition in a delightfully hilarious way! The staff is as friendly as your grandma's secret cookie recipe, and the food has got an American flair that's so bold, it could host its own comedy show! Prepare to embark on a culinary adventure as you dive into a menu that boasts burgers and wings with all the swagger of a stand-up comedian. And oh, my cod! Their fish and chips are so quintessentially British, you'll feel like you've landed in a sketch from a classic comedy show. But wait, the real star of the show is the macaroni and cheese 🧀. Brace yourself for a cheese explosion that's cheesier than a dad joke, and tastier than a punchline that lands perfectly! It's so good, it'll have you laughing with delight with each mouthful. So, gather your friends, put on your funniest socks, and head over to this wacky and delicious joint. Trust me, it's a taste adventure that'll have you rolling on the floor with laughter and coming back for more! Hold on to your sides, because the hilarity doesn't stop there! Believe it or not, I'm dead serious when I say this place is so awesome, you can host your own comedy show here! Yup, you heard it right. They rent out this fantastic venue for your events, and it's the perfect place to spread some laughter and joy.

Spacious pub, lots of seats and tables, a trad-modern decor with dark spaces for intimate liasions! Wide variety of beers to choose from and an equally wide pub menu with a variety of good grub.

We had our work Christmas party here (in March - thank you Covid...) and overall I think it was great. The food was tasty with the falafel being particularly good. The staff were superb in making sure all the orders were right and allowed us to order drinks from the bar which was pretty fast and had interesting beer and soft drink options. The music was very loud and at times intrusive in the conversation so not the right place for a dinner if you want to do a lot of talking. It was also really dark which meant the food lacked a bit of the wow factor in appearance. The upstairs dining room was brighter and quieter so perhaps worth considering for private functions. Overall I would definitely go back. Thanks to everyone who served us!

Best fish and chips I saw and ate while in town. Just perfect. Atmosphere was great and we only had to walk a few feet from the hotel. The beer was legit and we left full and happy.

Great food and beers. We got recommended a few beers based on our usual taste and it did not disappoint. The pie and schnitzel were really tasty. Will be coming back!

I was a walk in on a Sunday. Understandably it is holiday season and there were many reservations. Walk-ins were able to be seated as long as we could leave before the reservation start times. Easy, we all had a couple hours. I was seated at a high table. I asked if it was possible to sit at a lower table as I'm quite short and I have back issues. I was rudely told no, it's the only table available. That would have been fine if the next two customers who didn't have a reservation weren't seated at low tables after I asked.

I wish to thank everyone involved in the preparation and presentation of our meal on Wednesday evening. It was exceptional in every way and added so much to our enjoyment of what was a double birthday celebration. The staff were all accommodating and friendly - cocktails were delicious! Please pass on my special thanks to all concerned. We will certainly be coming again and we will have no hesitation in recommending you to all our friends.

Lovely little pub. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. Must be popular as really busy. We booked for a sunday lunch around 5. They had ran out of most things on the menu by then so dont leave it too late in thr day to eat there. Food was beautiful though. Worth a visit for a sunday dinner.

We had our team’s Christmas dinner there. A lot of options for everyone: veggies and meat eaters alike. Despite it being really busy and loud (with football on and Christmas dinners) we still enjoyed our meal. Happy they were able to accommodate our team of 30! I can definitely recommend for the large group bookings.

too loud, way way way too loud to enjoy dinner (or even a drink). it was mid week 7:30pm, we had booked and were seated to a nice corner table. still, we had to shout to be able to talk to one another. food was ok/average, service was hit and miss depending on who you approached.

My girlfriend and I popped in here late on a Friday night after coming into London for a long layover. I knew we had to try something authentic while in town and this place had tons of reviews and many of them were great. It was about a 9 minute walk from our hotel and we were fortunate to get seated right away because this place was packed. The service was a tad bit slow, but for how busy it was we had no complaints. I went with an authentic dish featuring potatoes and some type of pot pie (STEAK, SHIN & PALE ALE PIE) and the vegetables weren’t great, but the rest of the meal was super good. It checked the box for traditional and left me pretty full. If you want a popping place with authentic food then this is a really good option!

Wheelchair accessibility review: nice step free entrance to the pub with a wide door. Has a wheelchair accessible toilet on the ground floor, which needs a Radar key to enter. Toilet is wide enough to manoeuvre and has grab rails and red emergency cord (which was out of reach at time of visit). The bar doesn't have a shorter height area so was a little hard to reach my drinks and pay. Would be great if more detailed accessibility information was available on their website.

We took the fish and chips and Peroni. Service was very quick, staff was friendly. Peroni was so refreshing and fresh. Fish and chips was out of the world, Loved it so much revisited the next day for dinner again. Would highly recommend this place

Stick to drinks and fish and chips at a push… the pub has a nice atmosphere but the food was a let down. Been a few times and the food seems to always be pretty sub par. My food came late after everyone else on my table. My meat was undercooked, thought I was being over dramatic and unfortunately didn’t realise till I got to the end and used my flashlight because it was very dimly lit - and they said “sometimes it can look like it’s undercooked due to the seasoning”. Was sick when I got home… rest of the table were not particularly impressed with their food either, hence the two stars.

Amazing pub right across from our AirBnb in London! We went several times during our visit and while all of the staff was incredible, Emmie went above and beyond each time. Beer was excellent, wine was fantastic and the best fish and chips I’ve ever had- they were also very conscious of my crustacean allergy. We will be back on our next visit!

Fantastic. We were staying in the Pullman on Euston Road and found this place almost by chance looking for somewhere for Sunday roast. Got checked in on line and we're able to have the same table for however long you want. Very relaxing, nice atmosphere and brilliant staff

Hired the upstairs function room for my birthday and we had a great time - staff were so friendly and helpful, great range of drinks and the buffet food we had went down a storm. Thanks to all at the Marquis for helping us make it such a fun day!

Fantastic pub! The decor in the pub is really fun, the general feel of the pub is great and we loved the atmosphere. I had the chicken chorizo skewers and my partner had the plant based burger which were both absolutely delicious! The drink suggestions to complement my food were great paring to our meals. Stephen gave us brilliant service and we will be coming back!
