An oddball pub on the Kings Cross road but oddball in the most welcoming way. The Union Tavern is one of those pubs you don't expect but really happy they are there. Great staff serving a great range of beers and offering a superb range of steaks for any carnivore that walk in (peanuts also available). A most enjoyable pint.

Outstanding Sunday Roast, great beer variety (including Leffe draught) and really kind staff. I could not recommend this place enough. The food menu looks also very good! Also portions are very big. Such a gem!

Good and well-priced food. A particular highlight were the mussels cooked à-la snail, which might help those put off by snails get a general feel of the flavour/texture. Had the pork and chicken roulade, also very good. Only reason I'm not leaving 5* is the lack of variety in IPA offerings, which I find is a shame. 3 real ales though, and a good choice of lagers.

Stayed at the hotel opposite (Crowne Plaza) and came here for dinner by looking at the good reviews. The food was really good - the sirloin steak was amazing and one of the best I have had in London. However, abysmal behavior from the main guy here and also the waiter seemed disinterested to attend properly. Not sure because I was alone or because I have brown skin. Hence, despite the great food, will not visit here again probably.

Ansonsten kommen gerne wieder. Danke euch

Great pub. Lovely staff and a good range of craft beers. The food is super and reasonably priced. We had lamb spring rolls and calamari for starters. Chicken and fish and chips for mains. All top notch. Wholly recommend and next time we are visiting from Ireland will return.

I go to this place every now and then for lunch as I live near by. I went there three times last week for lunch as I didn't need to go to office early last week. I enjoyed their lunch menu every time! The portion is very generous and I always get a leftover box. The staff are very attentive and kind. They always ask me if I want more bread. I usually get two refills for my bread as they are always warm and I ate more than I should. :) I liked their soup and chef's warm salad with chicken is my favourite! Every time my friends coming to visit me, I went there and they all liked the food and the atmosphere. I don't drink much beer, but I always see many people drinking outside of pub when I pass by. It's a nice place to hang out with your friends and family. They have kind of separate areas, one for dining, the other more for bar, and outside benches. I twice went there with my friend families with kids for dinner and to me it's a good place to go with your family.

Huge servings, best fish and chips we've had on this trip to UK. Staff helpful and nice. Cheese cauliflower is a masterpiece.

Charming old wood floor Victorian pub in the calm eye of the hurricane which is London, and notably the best “mushy peas” in the the U.K., and that’s because they’re not mushy but homemade by a culinarian, ask for extra if you get the fish and chips. My only criticism was the vinegar for the chips was lacking. Imagine they were aiming for something unique and could’ve addressed it if I asked. Also a great place for a conversation as they don’t blare music, just some soft R&B, Van Morrison and occasional alternative tune in the background.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice interior. Good beer. Why only three stars? Two reasons: zero vegan options in the menu. Yes zero. In 2021. Really quite unusual these days. They did offer tofu instead of halloumi but it sounded like an afterthought and without any flavouring. And secondly because the vegetarian option was much less filling than any of the meat based mains: check out the photo - it was mostly leaves, despite being almost £13. Being vegetarian doesn't mean you're not hungry! Had to have extra dessert to make up for it. Oh well, with a better menu, this place could easily get five stars. Especially since the staff were so nice.

Nice old 'local ' pub but now also a restaurant. I had a burger, handmade but dry, no pickles or relish so it was all very dry. The triple cooked chips were amazing which is why I gave a 4☆ rating. We visited lunchtime.

Traveling through the area from the US and found this hidden gem. The food was some of our most favorite on our trip. The staff was so friendly and efficient. Would highly recommend. Everyone will find a great dish that they will talk about for days after.

Such a lovey experience. Friendly and attentive staff, food was delicious and good value for money. Big portions, I had the chicken grill burger with chilli guacamole and it was divine! Chicken was cooked to perfection not dry at all! My partner had the steak cuts, beautiful meal that was also cooked to perfection. It is a small space however this makes it cozy and intimate. You can watch the chefs cooking as the kitchen is at one end of the restaurant. Overall a great experience, sadly did not get our servers name, she was a lovely lady who made sure we had everything we needed. A lovely end to our visit!

Arrive early (before 6.30) and there’s a really good value menu. We ate a bit later when this wasn’t available but still had a great value (for London) steak and chips meal. The steak was really well cooked and was as tender as I’ve ever eaten. Hot chips the only accompaniment. We took advantage of the optional sauces which were great (peppercorn) and ok (blue cheese butter). Delightful staff. Good range of beers

Such a lovely pub! And an amazing roast and staff. Super welcoming and lovely space to relax with a nice meal on a Sunday evening. The pub is well kept and has a very nice feeling to it. The food was really good quality for money and such a great feast. 100% would come back when next in London!

Fantastic Sunday roast. They were kind enough to accommodate us even without a reservation. Would certainly come back again. Good stop after the Postal Museum. Also have a kids menu with some great options. Even for picky kids.

Food was great value for money! (£17 for 2 courses). I had the strudle and the lamb. Huge portions! Wasn't a fan of the mint mash, I found it too heavy. But all in all, nice food! Nice vibe, half the place is a restaurant, the other, a casual bar (not sure if there's an upstairs) Side note: please update your Instagram, you could get so many more people here

We came for Sunday lunch on the 11th Feb and left really disappointed. we came at 12.30 in the afternoon, so even though they were busy should have been early enough for us to have decent food (it did get very busy, so I guess they must be good usually). We ordered 2 roast dinners, 2 burgers, a steak and short rib. After waiting for an hour for food (tables around us getting served much quicker) both burgers were cold, the £35(ish) steak was over cooked and the roast pork belly was inedible. Roast chicken and short rib were both nice. Though short rib was also over done, a bit chewy to be considered slow cooked. Oh and the one starter that was ordered calamari, was also over cooked and chewy. Everyone ate due to waiting so long, but I wish I complained about the pork. Meat was so over cooked I couldn't chew and swallow, and the fat and glaze was the opposite, uncooked and also inedible. left the whole thing on my plate. When we came to pay there was desserts on the menu we hadn't ordered, and waited way too long for coffee. Waitress was nice, but could see she was stretched by the time we left. Every corner of the pub was being used for food.

Arranged a work meal and drinks at the Union Tavern for 14 people, they were helpful and accommodating, we had our own space which hugely appreciated. The food was served very quickly and everyone enjoyed their meals, there were plenty of options all reasonably priced. We all had a really good night and would definitely visit again. Thanks to all the staff for making it a smooth and enjoyable evening.

Good real ale, an excellent steak & chips. Very glad I stopped here on the way to see Wolfsbane at The Water Rats. Highly recommended. The Sunday Roast looks good too!

We found this pub while staying with friends in the area, now we travel from SE London just for the food. The food is stunning!!! It’s top class 5*!! It’s a menu that changes so I couldn’t really recommend a particular dish but my favourites are the haddock and salmon roulade or the pork chop. The prices are unbelievably reasonable. Highly recommend this little gem.

This pub, was absolutely divine. The food, atmosphere, and drinks were amazing. The service was one of a kind, staff and all always had a smile and were extremely friendly. The owner himself was an incredible individual. Very nice and respectful young man. I will definitely be back, and would recommend this pub to anyone.

This was a great place for a Sunday roast. We had a table right near the kitchen and it was fun to watch them work and to watch how quickly they brought out all of the meals. The servers were charismatic and knowledgeable about the history of the building and the menu. The food was delicious, we had the chicken, pork belly, and steak at our table and everyone had great things to say about it. They offered extra gravy to fully drench everything if you wanted, but I preferred it as they served it.

Great find. Stopped off for some lunch. They had a 2 course special. £8 each for 2 courses. For such a bargain we didn't expect anything much but the food was actually delicious. We'll seasoned and great portion. The ale was really nice too and under £5 for a pint! Would definitely recommend

I stumbled upon this treasure for dinner right down the road from the hotel we’re staying...the chef knows what he is doing! I saw they were taking part in the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme so thought I'd give it a try. I felt in the mood to try 2 appetizers and per the suggestion of my server Hamish I was recommended to try the salt and pepper calamari w/Asian salad and smoked bacon, potato rosti w/poached egg 😋 I was not disappointed! Every bite was mouthwatering and made me want more.

Excellent Sunday roast in a old style fashioned pub. The roast includes a starter and main, both with generous portions so perfect if you went out the night before and feel hungry. Puddings are good as well. Friendly and fast staff will make your Sunday perfect.
