I really enjoyed my visit to this East London boozer with a hipster twist. As soon as I walked in, I was whisked back to the time before all the gentrification in East London. It's obviously been spruced up a little with a beer garden at the back, but it still has the feel of a classic East-End boozer back in the early 90's. The food was fab. I loved the menu with its quirky names and I would highly recommend "The Chairman" burger. The epic side fries alone was generous in portion and a meal in itself. The Leyton Star is mere minutes away from Leyton tub station, pet-friendly and the bar is run by friendly and chatty bartenders. A really relaxed pub. Great place to go for a drink and a chat with your mates. I can see myself back here when I'm in the area.

The best chicken burger in London. Can't beat it. Don't try. Also good music and atmosphere. I really enjoy the English/Spanish meetup here too.

Very sad portions for the price. Chips were £4.50! And such a small portion, plus they were meant to be rosemary fries and they were plain. The burger was about £12 and came with very poor presentation. Two meager bacon strips, no tomato or salad, no fries. Guiness is £6 Would not recommend eating here.

Decent roast dinner - beef flavoursome. Pub was a bit quiet and cold though, and music loud for a Sunday...good job I didn't have a hangover.

Sadly, dropping down to 4 stars. They used to have the most amazing burgers, but now changed to a different chain and it's mediocre at best. Whilst the chef does a great job cooking them (really perfect, honestly, such a good chef, hence 4 stars not 3), they are totally let down by the blandest possible options. Bring back the previous chain please! The new burgers are so beige :-(

Meh. Instantly smacked with the smell of stale piss and damp socks upon arrival. Note that even if you have a table you need to order at the bar. Food was decent but the amount of beef for a 21 pound plate (Sunday roast) was atrociously small. Did get good and drunk here tho, so if that’s what you’re after this place will do.

I love the Star and know it well so has happy to book the upstairs for my sons 1st birthday party. Great decision as the space is perfect, the food is excellent (way better than the usual party buffet slop) and the staff - George the boss has always been a great guy and a pleasure to deal with. Marcie and Ella were also incredibly helpful and did everything they could to give us a fantastic experience. I'd recommend the Star for private bookings but also a quiet pint any day of the week, Sunday roasts, quiz nights, watching sporting events, beer garden chilling on a sunny day. Done 3/4 NYE's there as well, always a brilliant night.

The most dirtiest pub I have ever been in,disgusting. They charge £5.50 for a pint of cask bitter....Terribly over priced...The bar staff look like they need a good wash...The place looks like it's falling to pieces..The furniture should be chucked in a skip..You need to annoculated to go in there.. Unbelievable!!

Nice pub and friendly staff, with a nice outdoor area. The burgers are basic but tasty, and the Sunday roast was nice but the veggie option was just a piece of pumpkin which was a bit disappointing. Great that you can order a smaller half portion! Lots of screens showing sport when it’s on.

Great pub on a match day for Honw fans.... smashed burgers are amazing & football on the big screen & other TVs around the bar area, tables can be reserved on Match days which is recommended if you want a burger cos it gets busy

I came here for some birthday drinks and karaoke and the team looked after us really nicely. Big shout out to Marcie and George for going the extra mile to make my evening special!

After being let down by another venue for a memorial drinks/get together I was organising the staff at the Leyton Star were incredibly kind and helpful from the moment I first contacted them. We were thoroughly looked after and had a great day at the pub and the kids loved the karaoke room! Great pub, great staff, great vibes.

Had a great time here before an Orient game in December. Great beer selection, plenty of screens and nice food. They suffered a power cut in the evening and made it really simple for me to get a refund on a load of food I’d ordered. Will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful friends' Christmas lunch at The Leyton Star yesterday. The food was delicious, the service was attentive and the pub was cosy! The Christmas menu was great value at £35 per person and I'd highly recommend it!

Recently had our work Christmas party at the Leyton Star and it was all round fab. Food was delicious, especially the tacos, with good vegetarian options too. The private karaoke room was a lot of fun! Thanks to George and the team

I booked the function room and karaoke for my boyfriend's birthday and everyone had a good time, the manager even extended our time in the karaoke room.I also ordered some food, which it came out in time and it was very tasty including the vegan options. Thanks for making the night memorable for everyone!

Lovely big pub with a huge beer garden at the back. Beer garden is well covered for the rainy months. Good range of beers and friendly staff. Great decor in the bar - a bit dark for a sunny day but ideal for the evening.

Great pub, great people. Nice outdoor area and interiors feel like a proper pub with a modern twist. Always have good pop up food brands in there that tend to switch up every few months

George and the team made us very welcome. The karaoke room was set up, microphones charged, air conditioning on, and drink easily accessible via the app. A wide range of beers and spirits available, and the room hire charge is very reasonable. The hire rooms are a good size and competitively priced also.

The roast (both the vegan wellington and the gammon) were incredible. The music was good, the staff were friendly. They had women’s football on the big screen and gaining that final, fifth star: the gents toilets have a push door to exit them!

This is a great pub. The Sunday roasts are without doubt the best of any pub and better than many restaurants. So many places are happy to serve boiled potatoes pretending to be roasted. The Star serves proper roasted food with well-seasoned, good quality meat. My veggie friend also confirmed that their meal was outstanding. The same applies to midweek burgers. The food is brilliant. On top of that, the Star cares about its beer. I prefer hand pumped ale and there is always a decent pint on. There’s plenty of other stuff on offer for those who prefer Roadie/Kneckoil/Camden type beer. Can’t fault the service either. It’s always our first choice for a pre-match pint or two.

I have been there a few times. Reasonably priced drinks, also the food is delicious too!! I had a chicken burger with fries which was quite filling. Highly recommend!!

Beautiful brown velvet booth sofas give it a v homey and subtle retro feel. The manager is really nice and was really accommodating during pandemic. Beer garden is great for groups and they dependably serve london's best pale (roadie) - an ace local!

I had my 25th birthday party here and it was amazing! I booked karaoke in the function room which was really reasonably priced, the manager George was extremely welcoming and everyone had a great time- my friends who joined now want to do it for their birthday! You get a lovely room to yourselves and the karaoke machine was really easy to use, had all the songs and sounded great. We were in there for 3 hours singing to our hearts content! Thank you!!

Giving 2 stars as its a good venue and the staff is friendly but I was 2 times to eat- 4months ago you had delicious chicken burgers but the chef sent me the fries probably placed back in oil at least 3 times - very dry and very oily, disgusting we didn't eat them. . The burger was fine. Recently I be honest the chicken burger it was AWFUL, I understood you changed the kitchen but you need to have a talk with the chef. The chicken burger was dry at the same time it was falling apart and very very saggy, disgusting.. I struggled to eat half of it only as I was very hungry .. I don't think I ever tried or will try something like this again .. .also you don't have a non spicy option for chicken?! That's strange. The fries were good. I actually enjoyed them . So I paid 9 for a burger that it wasn't good at all to me and 4 for the fries..Very High priced for what it actually is. Apart from this most of the tables were dirty and the ashtrays full everywhere we tried to sit. I understand its a pub but the cleanliness should be achieved anyways. The forks and knives were kept into a dusty ,not too clean place.. I didn't want to get one. The bartender took some from the kitchen and gave me some actual clean ones.. Its a good pub but I was really disappointed this time.

We had a party in the Leyton Star’s gold room for our friends and family before having our first baby. The room was fantastic, the perfect size with everything we needed - dj booth for music, little bar. The staff were super friendly and helped with everything we needed so that it went smoothly and there was no stress. Kids and adults all had a great time. We brought in some craft activities and balloons to keep the kids entertained, they loved it! Everyone ordered from the Sunday roast menu as and when they wanted food and the staff dealt with that really well, bringing the orders up to us. The roast was really tasty. Thanks so much to the team at Leyton Star for making it special for us! x

Ordered three simple hamburgers and an hot dog. The hamburgers were wrong, totally burned and just uneatable. When I pointed it out to the crew, I hadn't any explanation or excuse. In my holiday in London I experienced very good pubs with excellent food, but definitely not this one.

We had a great evening with food and karaoke. The staff were accommodating and really helpful. Would recommend to anyone trying to organise an event to use this venue. The manager was top class also in helping out in any situation.
