Not sure if it's me but every Wetherspoon pub I get food from seems to struggle in some way or another. First it took absolutely ages to turn up, it did arrive hot which I was surprised about considering the time it took, eggs way overcooked, mushroom on the big breakfast, well I have attached a picture of it rolling around on a hash brown, just one sad pathetic suicidal looking mushroom. If it wasn't for the £1.2o unlimited refill coffee I would be unhappy

They don't even deserve any star. This pub or whatever they say it is, is the rudest pub I have ever been. The food is rubbish and also portions are very small. The environment of the place is that the staff is rude and also the bosses don't give a damn that you come to their establishment and spend your hard earned money. They argue with almost everyone and now they have bouncers on the door, of you don't listen or keep quite. They will kick you out. I wouldn't recommend anyone to visit this place or pub. I give them a big ZERO.

The Toll Gate in Turnpike lane. Recently sold by Spoons. New owners haven’t changed much bar putting in a darts board and a pool table. Means the place has remained cheap while managing to actually get better. Nice decor. Chill spot with great staff. I’m in a booth so hence the random pics. And the carpet is refreshingly twee.

If ever in the Wood Green, London area, be sure to stop by. We were in North London for just a couple of days and The Toll Gate was within walking distance. Jordan and his crew were really friendly, they made us feel so welcomed. The beer was excellent too! My husband had some "Proper" English beer and I had some delicious apple cider. Highly recommended this place

Great little stop off on our way to Spurs for the NFL. Jordan the manager was extremely helpful in giving us directions and telling us all about the local town. Next time we are back in the area this will be the first place we visit. Highly recommend.

Great staff, best cider in North London. This place needs to stay open. (Also has some of the most polite punters I have come across.)

Lovely and spacious pub. Friendly staff. I liked the decor, especially the booths. Very cosy. Good music. Affordable prices. Great location. Didn't have anything to eat as it was late.

This isn’t a Wetherspoons anymore, but google won’t let me edit the description. They play loud music at weird intervals that ruined any chance of there being atmosphere. The old blokes looked unbothered though.

Having lived round the corner from the Toll Gate for a number of years now I've never ventured inside however tried our luck to catch a football game. The TV wasn't on at the time but the staff very helpfully obliged. The beer was cheap, and we had a lovely time. Will definitely be back.

Used to go here when it was a spoons, only been in here once since it was taken over by a different company. Things haven't changed by the food variety has gone down, but that is expected.

I absolutely love their lemon and herbs chicken. Good as Nando's one but cheaper price.

Nice local pub, wooden interiors with a very good selection of beers. The customer service could be improved: only a couple of people work while the other ones just pretend. The toilets can be filthy sometimes. When you order food it can take up to 40 minutes, it depends on the manager in charge. It was much better some years ago.

We went there with my friends on Saturday 23/12 and the time was 11:50pm , as we were going to open the door of the entrance the security guy stepped in front of us and told us rude that we are closed when everyone was inside enjoying their drinks. I then replied to him that on your website says you close at 1am and he replied “no we are closed” but this time with more strict voice. Didn’t like his attitude so I thought to give you a heads up for your employee on the door (security )

Busy little hostelry with acres of space . Staff excellent . Toilets clean , beer well kept and food delivered quickly . Surprisingly cheap for a North London pub . Shall visit again .

As far as spoon pubs go this is the best one I have been in. Come here a few times in the last week and I have not had to get out my spoon sanitising wipes to clean the tables. Most spoon pubs I have to wipe the tables from the sticky mess that is left even after staff have cleared the table of glasses and plates. Today a member of staff saw that I had just sat down and came over to wipe my table, if only other spoons did this. Excellent staff and very accommodating, not like some where asking them a thing like "please clean my table" is taken as an insult and greeted with disdain. The manager nod this pub should be congratulated and looked upon as a mentor for other less capable managers who see it as their duty to befriend their staff and not give any consideration to the paying punters. I have heard this pub is closing so I hope they retain the staff as they know how to operate a pub. Thanks to all the staff at The Toll Gate.

The oldest pub on the Wetherspoons estate and destined for closure and sale under a nationwide revenue generating program. The decor hasn't changed since I remember visiting back in the 1990's...and frankly it shows. The clientele most likely date from well befordle that same period too.

Hadn't been in this pub for many years. Typical wetherspoons. Cheap beer and value for money food. It felt exactly the same as ever. Faces change, but people don't

This is no longer a Wetherspoon. They took over ownership around 3-4 months ago. However it still retains its cheap prices with the average pint between £3 to £4. Not tried their food menu but it seems quite reasonably priced. Overall still a pretty decent pub but lacking atmosphere.
