The Virgin Queen

Bar Pub

👍👍 We went to the Virgin Queen a few months ago for a roast and the chef surprised our dog with her very own roast too. Needless to say she thoroughly enjoyed the meat (although wasn’t as keen on the veg 😂). Was super thoughtful of the chef. Would highly recommend this dog-friendly cozy pub. People often mention good, great, chips, staff, atmosphere, service, fish,

Popped in here after rock climbing on a Wednesday evening and was thrilled by the prices and the food quality. 3 pints for £15ish is great for the area. Padron peppers and chicken burger were absolutely delicious

What a bloody good boozer. A proper pub imo. Lighting, beer quality and able to have a laugh with the bar staff and manager. Games room and food looked great although we only had time for one.

Beautiful traditional pub frequented by locals. They have plenty of industrial beer taps and also some from artisanal breweries. Classic but good pub style food: I really enjoyed the chicken pie & mash.

Last Sunday we had pretty good dinners in this place, but we were there in Monday the 18th September and the food was extremely disappointing! One dish b came without a listed items, which they didn't acknowledge until I asked about it. The chicken wings felt like they've been deep the fried several times and covered with b&q sauce, perhaps to compensate the over cooked chicken! Will not eat here again!! But it's a nice place to have a drink!

Since moving to Hackney five years ago, this has been my local. Incredible atmosphere, first class customer service, great prices, and a mix of locals and new customers that create an incredible mix. Love coming in for a pint, chat, and laughs. Fun quiz on Wednesday rounds out the perfect place to unwind, laugh, meet new friends, and grab a drink or two. Oh… great menu for food as well. Mix of classic pub grub, veggie or vegan dishes, and small plates to meet everyone’s tastes.

Fantastic public house, the staff are very friendly and polite. They have just started selling Hofmeister beer. If you fancy "Following the bear". Get yourself down there and try it out. They also do some really amazing food there too. Their Sunday roasts are the bomb!

The owners are so sweet and such a lovely and welcoming atmosphere! We came here on my birthday in search of baby Guinness shots and then one of the workers GAVE US A GUINNESS TSHIRT! It’s a gesture of kindness I will remember forever and made the day even more special. Such a lovely pub!

Just stopped in during a long walk for a beer and some chips. The pub has a lot of character and a nice fire going. Will try to come back again in the future!

Walk past this pub almost daily, finally went in and didn’t disappoint. Nice small food menu, pool table down stairs and Guinness at £5.70,

We had a lovely Sunday roast here after a bad experience at another venue locally. Food was tasty well cooked and good value for money. Bar service is fast and comes with a smile... quality price and atmosphere with open fire... we had a great time relaxed and enjoyable we will return and recommend to friends. Thanks

Food was great and of good quality! Prices are totally ok. More of a pub than a restaurant, so there was self service. But the staff was friendly.

Nice pub with a good buzz and local feel. Staff were really friendly when being served. The fish and chips was a hefty portion but the fish was a bit overcooked which made it a tad dry. The chips, tartare sauce and mushy peas were really good.

Very cosy atmosphere, fireplace with a life fire. Best fish and chips ever.

Love this pub. Amazing atmosphere, magical fireplace during the winter seasons. A romantic wonderful space. But... The food is bad and that's me being kind. The food is annoyingly bad. This would be a 5 star if the food was good. But it's horrendous

Great pub. Really nice atmosphere, friendly staff, good bar snacks. But letting dogs sit on benches and eat from plates - surely not.

Had a half order of the Cauliflower Cheese Roast. This is comfort food at its finest. Loved the mix of vegetables and the fresh bread addition!

Lovely pub, smallish inside but with great character. The terraced area outsude is a plus particularly on a warm and sunny day. Acceptable selection of drinks and food and staff is very friendly and helpful.

Had a great pub quiz, literally knew one out of 15 questions. A fine selection of beers also. Exquisite service: the kitchen had a mistake with a burger order, but the owner worked right away to fix it and went great length to compensate for the mistake. Would love to come back next visit to london

Lovely decor! It feels to dive back into centuries ago. Lovely traditional pub. A little bit of a wait for our Sunday roast. Worth the wait, overall good quality except my sirloin steak. Will go back

Overall, I had a good time at the virgin queen. I thought that the food was good and served generously. I also liked the room at the back, which was quiet for a Friday. However, the beef in the beef burger was over cooked and felt dry. Also, I found the choice of beer to be limited.

When I arrived I was a bit disappointed to learn that the vegan fish and chips was off the menu, so I decided to have the pie and mash....... Wow!! Possibly the best pie and mash I've eaten in a pub EVER! THE Mash, veg and even the gravy 10 out of ten and the chicken pie was the best ever. The chef really knows his food. Thank you , and great service too.

Wow what an incredible pub and an even more incredible staff! Phil, Becky and her son could not have done more to make our Christmas meal a complete success! We had the best time and it really was so much thanks to them. Nothing was too much trouble, the food was amazing, service was impeccable, we will be coming back soon! Thank you SO much!

Ordered the fish and chips actually shocking the “chips” they provided was potato wedges. Couldn’t even eat the fish it was that bad. Service was weird. Servers seem confused when your ordering and requesting.
