5/5
for
food,
service,
especially
upstairs,
very
patchy:
3/5
max.
When
we
first
got
there,
we
were
sat
in
the
cosy
area
downstairs,
side-facing
the
kitchen.
The
service
from
young
boy
there
was
very
friendly,
if
not
particularly
genuine.
The
lady
in
her
40s,
who
was
very
lovely
and
warm,
then
took
over
the
service
later,
she
had
a
sense
of
humour,
she
picked
up
our
champagne
glasses
after
they
asked
us
to
move
from
downstairs
area,
to
almost
empty
upstairs,
because
they
wanted,
and
I
quote,
"set
up
for
dinner".
Weird
to
be
kicked
out
from
a
booked
table;
but
the
lady
in
question
was
so
nice
about
it
we
didn't
mind.
The
upstairs
area
was
run
by
much
older
gentleman
maybe
in
his
late50s/60s,
he
had
permanent
pained
expression
of
displeasure
plastered
on
his
face.
He
was
rather
abrupt;
not
very
attentive
to
diners,
impossible
to
get
his
attention,
even
for
the
bill,
he
walked
around
as
if
he
was
annoyed
all
the
time.
He
was
quite
abrupt
to
walk-ins,
especially
if
they
dared
to
ask
where
he
would
recommend
they
go
for
a
drink
instead,
since
he
couldn't
accommodate
them.
Luckily,
the
food
more
than
made
up
for
patchy
service.
I
never
thought
I
would
say
this
in
a
review,
but
brussel
sprouts
with
chestnuts
and
lardons
were
unbelievably
good!
As
were
the
agnelloti
with
ricotta
and
hazelnuts
with
cream
of
Jerusalem
artichoke
and
Jerusalem
artichoke
chips.
Beetroot
and
goats
curd
-
such
a
pretty
dish,
though
it
needs
a
bit
more
zing
and
a
texture
contrast,
but
looks
amazing.
Whisky
cured
salmon
divine,
though
why
you
would
serve
huge
dollop
of
butter
and
4
pieces
of
salmon
with
one
small
solitary
piece
of
bread
we
don't
know.
We
asked
for
at
least
one
piece
for
my
friend,
but
it
again
came
with
another
mini
plate
of
butter.
Perhaps
less
scrougy
bread
portioning
is
the
answer?
So
long
as
I
don't
have
to
sit
upstairs,
next
to
the
door,
and
have
an
unpleasant
gentleman
working
the
floor,
I
would
definitely
want
to
visit
again
if
for
no
other
reason
than
that,
beautifully
presented,
tasty
food.
Plus
they
serve
champagne
in
proper
champagne
glasses,
not
flutes,
which
is
worth
an
applause.
