Very nice gardens with a castle yard feeling. Not too big and not really to stay, but a comfortable alternative to the street

Whitehall Garden. Victoria Embankment, London SW1A 2HE https://www.guidelondon.org.uk/blog/around-london/whitehall-gardens-in-london/ It is a beautifully designed area. You can sit, relax, enjoy your coffee and cake. You can look at and learn from the different states. Some have writing that briefly explains the reason for the status. On this particular day, 28th October 2023, there was significant march for ceasefire in Gaza. I saw thousands and thousands of people march past the gardens. It almost feels historic. The gardens are within walking distance from Trafalgar Square towards the River Thames (via Northumberland Ave) or the Hungerford or Jubilee Bridges that cross the River Thames. It is just one of the gardens that form the Victoria Embankment Gardens created from 1864 following the embankment of the Thames by Sir Joseph Bazalgette. The garden laid out in 1875 by George Vulliamy has a wonderful array of shrubbery, bedding displays, mature London plane trees, lime trees and trees of heaven. Three statues stand within grassed islands commemorate William Tyndale (1494-1536), Sir Henry Bartle Frere (1815-1885) and General Sir James Outram (1803-63). Whitehall Gardens offers a hidden oasis enclosed within elaborate railings, reproductions of Bazalgette’s design of 1873. It is also a designated Site of Importance for Natural Conservation for its contribution to wildlife.

A “flowery garden” I will call it 🥰!!! Here is cool and wonderful garden to relax, cool down and relieve the stress!! Multiple entries makes here such a nice place to be without crowding up at any of the entry gates. Just across it are the Charing Cross Station, the Hungerford Bridge and Golden Jubilee Bridges. What to expect and experience here: nice cool shades, comfortable benches to sit, exotic views of the nature - the beautiful flowers 🌺, towering statures, table tennis 🏓. And fully kids friendly! Accessibility: wonderfully accessible for wheelchair ♿️. I recommend this sweet Gardens.

Not one of the best known gardens and just outside One Whitehall place simply amazing at this time of the year (April) as there is an explosion of colour with the different flowers that are in bloom. Located between Westminster and Embankment stations. Examples of the flower beds can be seen in the attached photographs.

Weary tourists will find this a peaceful sanctuary to rest and contemplate nature after a long day of touring the City. Whitehall Gardens is located at the sweet spot between Victoria Embankment and the Whitehall Building. There are benches in shade and the colourful garden are a pretty sight.

This is not a big park, but is precisely why is so beautiful. Well looked after, nice, clean and tidy, this is a very good spot for relaxing. There is a playground for children at the entrance, a cafe in the middle and there are toilets with entry fee outside of the park. ❤

This place is a sanctuary. The trees and flowers remind me of a tropical paradise. Beautifully kept gardens, an array of interesting plants and grasses. A lot of thought had gone into the planning and preparation of the gardens.

A great, peaceful spot on the Victoria Embankment and behind the building of Whitehall Palace. Green space with nice flower gardens. There are clear paths through the gardens and plenty of benches to sit on. People use the green space for relaxing, getting away from work pressures and to picnic with family/friends. Must visit of you're in the area.

I love this little garden. It's very hidden from the road behind the fence and trees and bushes. Besides nice statues, flower beds and benches it's right next to the Ministry of Defense main building which is architecturally stunning. This garden is great for having a little relaxing sit down with a snack.

Not what I thought it would be. No Government building but partly a home for the Queen's Horse Guards. Not the actual horses, you understand. The people that ride them.

This museum is great place to visit if you love England's history, building has multiple levels each covers different sections from England's military history, free to visit, good Covid measures in place, toilets were very clean and tidy, staff were excellent, beautiful gifts shops if you want to buy your friends or family a present, definitely recommend for a day out, especially with kids, they'll love it ... 😊👍💯

Lovely little park, mostly used by people walking through it to get to work or whatever. There are a few people hanging out on benches for extended periods, and the odd tourist. I'm guessing it will be busier in better weather. I had two issues here: 1. The grass was quite mucky, like it had fertiliser recently spread over the top - it was only in specific parts, where flowerbeds had been removed and turf was put in their place. 2. Google Maps informed me that this place would be open 24 hours but that is not the case. Like a lot of parks in London, it closes at different times depending on the time of year which roughly align with sunset. See attached photo. We selected a nearby hotel purely because this park was supposed to be accessible 24 hours. Sadly it made things for my husband's guide dog rather more complicated for his late night/early morning toileting needs. Otherwise, it was a delightful patch of green in a beautiful city.

Lovely garden to take a walk along the hustle and bustle of the Embankment. Feel free to lay on the grass in between the round flower beds full of tulips and other flowers if sit on the shaded benches to the rear and have a quiet sandwich with a drink. Some very nice trees to sit under and the benches to the front of the garden are very sunny. It's all in front of a huge, very impressive looking ex-government building which I think might be a hotel complex now. I'm afraid I didn't read the info.

Beautiful garden! There are two tables to play tennis and lots of benches. Nearby is Starbucks, Subway and small convinient shop where you can buy drinks in case you want to spend more time there. Last time I saw caravans selling ice cream too.

A small beautiful and lush rectangular park with abundant benches. It prominently features statues of historic British figures. The park is set in front of impressive historic building and lines the embankment. Beautiful as the park is there is endlessly loud road traffic noise from the busy Embankment roadway that flanks it.

Beautiful gardens by the river in London. Very well kept. Plenty of benches to stop for a while. Often very quiet so you can find a bit of peace from the hustle and bustle of the city. Well worth including on a walk around London.
