The Tower Bridge. Now while there’s no cost to cross the bridge I would highly recommend purchasing tickets to go across up top. It’s well worth the steps. If you need to take a lift one is available but seeing the staircases, and all the factual, historical information they give you on the way up makes it all the more worth it. We bought tickets for 13.30 and arrived a bit early, and the staff didn’t mind us getting in the queue. It was a bit long but moved very quickly, again you could take the lift or the stairs we chose the stairs (we were told there’s somewhere around 260 of them). As you walk up the stairs there are posts and placards that tell you all sorts of facts regarding the material that went into the bridge and other fascinating details. The wood creaking stairs only adds to the experience. Once at the top there’s a spot to rest even before going to the upper bridges. You may think the entire upper bridge is “glass bottom” it isn’t, but each side does have a small section where if not to crowded you can even lie down and take a photo. You’ll walk all the way across one, down the other and turn around where then you can decide you next move. Once down the stairs they send you off to the Engine Room which is also included and the gift shop. This alone has been such a worth while part of our visit, I would highly recommend it.

Beautiful bridge, more attractive from afar rather than walking on it. At least you can walk it for free. Opening and closing events probably will be impressive for some bigger boats. Great Christmas market on the south side of the bridge. Quite far from the other attractions, I would recommend taking the tube if you can afford it (about 2£ per ride)

This is a most iconic bridge in London. It is a beautiful history getting to see. Very impressed with the quality of exhibition inside tower bridge. Pleasant to hear the story of tower bridge on how it was built and operated. It was a great experience into the transparent bridge two walkways above street and river level. The glass floors were really cool. For the people who has height issue, there is a wooden walkway to the side. Moreover fabulous view of city on the bridge, if you're lucky you see the bridge being raised. There is a schedule for it in their website. The streets around the tower bridge are lively having plenty of cafe, ice cream van, bar and restaurants. Overall a good experience and a good time to spend time with family.

Firstly, although the staff were great at sorting me out when I didn't have a paper ticket and just one on my phone, it is not good that paper tickets are needed (and they printed mine out). In today's age and ecological crisis, paper should not be needed. They need to sort that. There is no wheelchair access that I could see. Lots of stairs both up and down so be aware! There's also not a huge amount to see in the towers themselves. Considering this is not a free attraction, I would expect more. Having said that, DO go to the engine rooms. That was excellent and informative. Well worth the trip. Overall, just about worth it for the price. Don't make it your big trip of the day though. It's fun but short.

It felt very safe, was beautiful history getting to see it. If you want to go here tell everyone you want to go to or get directions for the "tower bridge' or the drivers take you to a flat bridge that is also called the London bridge. Yep it happened to me so be more knowledgeable than I was. Also a great little walk between the flat London bridge and the river with restaurants and coffee places. Very romantic little stroll ...London was amazing!!!

If you're in London you must visit Tower Bridge. The bridge really is a sight to behold! The view from the banks either side is fantastic! It's also close to The Tower of London and Butler's Wharf. If you're brave enough you can go right up top and look through a glass bottom but not liking heights, that wasn't for me!

The beautiful tower bridge. (Tourists often confuse this to be the London bridge.) Well this is a bridge too, and check out the pictures to see how amazing it looks when a big ship passes and the bridge is open. This is one of a kind bridge. To know more about its construction do visit inside the tower bridge. It’s amazing to see vehicles crossing under you. Great tourist spot , walk the bridge to see it in detail. It’s a must do in London!

It's an absolutely stunning, magnificent bridge, one of the major icons of London where you can easily picture history, old times when horses and careiges used to pass by. I didn't get to go inside because it was very late night. The bridge is lit up beautifully when it gets dark. Hopefully, in the near future, I will be able to re-visit the Tower Bridge and discover if fully. London, England, UK 🇬🇧

Awesome iconic structure we did the tour which is highly recommended where you get to go to the top of the bridge and look down on the Thames though the glass panels not recommended for anyone with a fear of heights mind as it's a hell of a long way up! The whole area around the bridge is really cool too lots of great bars etc especially recommend going in the Vault a pub/cafe underneath the bridge which looks directly over the river which the barmaid explained used to be the coal storage room for obviously when the bridge was still stream powered. Stayed in a premier inn which is in tower hill just a couple of hundred yards down the road, second time we've stayed there and definitely will do again as it's so ideally situated. Great area.

What a great thrill it was to visit the bridge and see how it raises. You can go in a lift to the upper walkways but we chose to walk up the 200+ stairs. From there you can photograph the beauty of the Thames then walk down to the engine room to appreciate the beauty and engineering excellence of times gone by. Just look at the photos then go and you will realise just how quiet the mechanism is as it turns. Put it on your bucket list.

Tower Bridge is an engineering marvel and an iconic symbol of London. Its distinctive design, with its towering turrets and drawbridge mechanism, is a sight to behold. The view from the bridge, looking out over the Thames and towards the Tower of London, is truly breathtaking. The interactive exhibitions inside provide fascinating insights into the history and mechanics of this world-famous bridge. Walking across it, especially when the drawbridge is raised, offers a unique experience that's both educational and thrilling. Tower Bridge is a must-see for visitors to London, offering a perfect blend of history, architecture, and the vibrant energy of the city!

I stayed in the hotel, which is only a few minutes walk from Tower Bridge when I visited London. So I'm here almost every day when I'm in London. I enjoyed watching the activities of the bridge and the river. The bridge is very busy on top of the bridge or under the bridge. It is so beautiful either in the daytime or at night.

Tower Bridge, built in the 1880s, is one of London’s most famous landmarks and it spans the River Thames near to the Tower of London. It’s a great piece of architecture and the workings inside are fascinating too. We’d recommend the Tower Bridge Exhibition which shows you how it works and how they built it. It takes you right up to the top of the towers and back down to the engine room. If you don’t want to see the exhibition and take the tour, you can of course just walk across the bridge for free and you get a great sense of the scale of the structure by doing this. The Tower Bridge Exhibition is open daily in the summer from 10am to 6.30pm and in the winter from 9.30am to 6pm. Adult admission is £8, children £3.40 and family tickets are also available (2012 prices). One of the most magical sights on the Thames is to see Tower Bridge opening to allow boats to go through. If you want to catch this spectacle, check out the bridge opening times. A good place to view this is from the walkway in front of the Tower of London. You can see Tower Bridge on most of the river cruises available on the Thames and there are a range of options with latest prices here: Thames River Cruises. After your visit to Tower Bridge, we’d recommend taking a walk down the re-developed South Bank of the Thames past the “Bee Hive” mayor’s offices to the Hays Galleria wharf which is full of restaurants and shops.

Great experience finally learning the detailed history of an iconic landmark of London. We have all seen this marvel before in books and movies. To learn all about and actually touch and see the striking views from the top is a must! The staff are all helpful kind and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend going up to the walkway and experiencing the glass floor! Highly recommended

“Visiting Tower Bridge in London was an absolute delight! From the moment I set foot on this iconic landmark, I was captivated by its grandeur and historical significance. The majestic structure, with its towering towers and intricate Victorian architecture, truly exemplifies the architectural marvels of the past. As I strolled along the high-level walkways, I was treated to breathtaking panoramic views of the River Thames and the cityscape beyond. The glass floors added an exhilarating touch, allowing me to marvel at the bustling traffic passing below my feet. It was an experience that made me feel both connected to the city’s vibrant energy and humbled by its rich history. Inside the bridge’s exhibition, I was immersed in its fascinating story through interactive displays and informative exhibits. Learning about the construction and engineering feats behind Tower Bridge deepened my appreciation for this iconic landmark. The highlight, of course, was witnessing the bridge open up to let a passing ship through—an awe-inspiring moment that reminded me of its vital role in facilitating maritime trade. The staff at Tower Bridge were friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to answer questions and provide insights into its heritage. Their passion for the bridge’s legacy was evident, making the visit even more enjoyable. Overall, my visit to Tower Bridge was an unforgettable experience. It’s a must-see attraction for anyone visiting London, offering a perfect blend of history, architecture, and breathtaking views. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, an architecture lover, or simply seeking a memorable experience, Tower Bridge will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression.” I hope you find this review helpful!

It’s one of the most iconic bridges in London and it’s definitely worth a visit. You can cross the bridge for free on the ground level (where the cars are driving). But it’s also possible to go to the top of the bridge if you are willing to pay for it. You can enjoy a great view to either side of the bridge. It’s nice to cross the river as a pedestrian but if you find a bus that crosses there it’ll be just as good.

Tower Bridge is an architectural marvel that seamlessly blends history and modernity. The iconic structure offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Thames River and London's skyline. The glass-floored walkways provide a thrilling perspective, allowing visitors to see the bridge and the river beneath their feet. The Engine Rooms exhibit, with its fascinating displays about the bridge's mechanics, adds depth to the experience. The attention to detail in preserving the bridge's Victorian legacy is commendable. Whether admiring it from afar or walking across, Tower Bridge offers a captivating journey through time, making it a must-visit landmark in London.

Bridge like no other, it has become a world-famous symbol of London. It's name derives from another attraction - Tower of London - located just few meters away... but it is often confused with London Bridge located further away. Free for vehicles and pedestrian crossing, but for upper level walkway admission fee is charged.

One of the most iconic sights of London. I'd highly recommend taking the time to go up onto the glass walkway and then visit the engine rooms. The lift was out of service so we climbed the 206 steps up to the glass walkway! It's a great experience standing on a glass floor and looking down on the traffic crossing the bridge below. Also, the views are very good and the whole experience is excellent value for money.

Tower Bridge is a Grade I listed combined bascule and suspension bridge in London, built between 1886 and 1894, designed by Horace Jones and engineered by John Wolfe Barry. The bridge crosses the River Thames close to the Tower of London and is one of five London bridges owned and maintained by the Bridge House Estates, a charitable trust founded in 1282. The bridge was constructed to give better access to the East End of London, which had expanded its commercial potential in the 19th century. The bridge was opened by Edward, Prince of Wales and Alexandra, Princess of Wales in 1894.

Tower Bridge is definitely one of the iconic landmarks and must-visit places of London. We were impressed by how huge, magnificent & beautiful it is. Tourists can visit the tower and see the river scene with a reasonable fee but we didn’t due to limited time. We realized the Tower Bridge and London Bridge which is in the famous song are two different bridges until we found the direction was not the same on map. We took a walk on the bridge and highly recommend everyone to do so since it doesn’t take long.

Tower Bridge, standing just beyond the Tower of London, is more than just a bridge; it’s a journey through London’s heart. A short stroll across this iconic structure offers breathtaking views (yes, in a good way; enter Seinfeld reference) and a sense of history. Crossing over the Thames, you’ll find yourself on a scenic walkway, a perfect vantage point for soaking in panoramic sights. From here, the Tower of London looms impressively, while the London Bridge and the sprawling cityscape stretch out beyond. It’s a spot where the beauty of London is seen and felt. Tower Bridge is a inexpensive gateway to some of the most picturesque views.

Absolutely lovely, the descent of the plane while coming from Dublin gives these views. You need to be at the left window seat, weather and time should be favourable. Lucky on the day, this is one of the best shots I was able to click. Shard in front, Thames and Tower bridge in the middle.

Great place to visit even in the gloomy February weather. Easy access from the Tower of London side, elevator to the top. Short history introduction and a movie started our walkthrough, did not need a guide, everything is labeled. The walkways are comfortable temperature, enclosed, with small slide to open windows for those who want to take photos from the top. Engine rooms are housed in a separate building just follow the blue line on the sidewalk. Gift shop and restrooms are located there as well. It was not crowded, there were however several lower grade school groups present, well behaved. After you finish with the bridge, check out the Gillie and Marc sculptures around the Queen’s walk nearby.

In terms of London attractions although London Bridge is iconic it is definitely overlooked by many. Really cheap tickets, and a great view of the Thames and all the amazing architecture along the river. The glass floor panel is amazing and the bridge opened whilst we were there so a great experience

Definitely my favourite place in London. It’s like a home to many on just glancing at this magnificent structure. Visiting the tower is a must do if you are around the place. This is probably one of the best iconic landmarks of London both for residents and the tourists alike. Such a peace when you come a little late in the night else one could also witness too much crowd and noisy parties.

Tower Bridge is one of most important attractions in London. There are several excellent views from the Top of Tower Bridge. You can see the road from transparent glass under the feet. Best place to take a lot of pictures. Superb views can be covered in both sides of the Bridge. Also, there is the Engine room which explain how the Bridge opens when a big cruise/ship passes through. The climb, glass bottom bridge and engine room were deeply fascinating. There are a lot of stairs here but there is a lift. I didn't book, I wasn't quite sure when I would finish Tower of London so my plan was to just turn up. All went well. For £12 I was pretty content. Some great photo opportunities at the top. I appreciated the final section where they identify how things have changed in the way they raise/lower the bridge

Tower Bridge is also one of the symbols of London. It captivates with its size and architecture. The bridge is beautiful, ancient, we walked around it from all sides, the view of it is incredibly gorgeous. From all sides there is a beautiful view of modern skyscrapers, the River Thames and ships. Also, there is a museum here, but we didn’t go in and didn’t go to the top. You can climb one of the towers. But during the tourist season you need to stand in line. At night you also get an incredibly beautiful view of the bridge. At night the city comes to life even more, and this makes it even more atmospheric. Beautiful windows look out against its background, be sure to visit this place if you are in London)

It is an nice experience to go here and just be there sometime and feel the Vibe of the place. So there's a boat tour as well you can go for where they take you from one end to other end and it's good. What we did is just walk the sides of the river and enjoy the coffee and beer along the way. The London Tower Bridge - Most iconic & Best Tourist Spot. My first visit and I was very shocked about history and technology about the Bridge. Don’t waste your time to take photos in outside the bridge just buy the tickets and enter into the bridge then you will get to know the history & the Construction Structure. Mainly, the bridge will be raised when any big ships pass the bridge. It was a great experience into the transparent bridge two walkways above street and river level. The glass floors were really cool. Once you down the stairs, the staffs send you to the Engine Room. There you can understand how the bridge is working and also they have a gift shop. I would highly recommend it.

Tower Bridge in London is an architectural masterpiece that commands attention. This iconic landmark offers a mesmerizing experience with its grandeur and historical significance. The Tower Bridge Exhibition allows visitors to delve into the bridge's construction and operation, offering a captivating journey through its past. Walking across the high-level glass floor provides breathtaking views of the River Thames and the cityscape, making it a must-see attraction. Tickets for the Tower Bridge Exhibition can be purchased both on-site and online. It's advisable to book in advance to avoid long waiting times, especially during peak hours when the bridge can be quite busy. However, the waiting time is often manageable, and the exhibition's informative displays help make the wait more enjoyable. A magnificent example of Victorian Gothic architecture! This iconic drawbridge leaves every visitor awe-struck with its grandeur and technical genius. The panoramic view from the walkway reveals splendid cityscapes. An intriguing piece of history lies within the engine rooms, taking you back to the industrial revolution era. A perfect blend of beauty, history, and engineering marvel. The bustling neighborhood adds charm to the overall experience.

Tower Bridge is more than just a pretty picture on a postcard; it's a feat of Victorian engineering with a fascinating history. While you can certainly enjoy its grandeur from below, the real magic lies in exploring the towers themselves. The climb to the top offers a glimpse into the bridge's inner workings, with informative displays showcasing its construction and operation. But the true highlight is the walkways, especially the glass floor sections that provide a thrilling view of the Thames River far below. The interactive exhibits in the Engine Room bring the bridge's history to life, allowing you to imagine the steam-powered giants that once lifted the bascules. Whether you're a history buff or simply an admirer of architecture, Tower Bridge offers a unique and unforgettable experience. Things to keep in mind: Tickets are recommended, especially during peak season, to avoid queues. While the walk itself isn't strenuous, there are quite a few stairs involved. Be sure to check the bridge's opening times beforehand, as it occasionally closes for river traffic. Overall, Tower Bridge is a must-visit for anyone wanting a panoramic view of London and a deeper appreciation for this iconic landmark.

Incredible, historic and iconic landmark in London. Reasonably priced attraction within London to take the family especially if you want to go up to the glass floor walkways for a better view and discover some history of the bridge. Free for those who just want to walk across and see the marvels of London and the city landscape from vantage viewing spot.

Iconic is one way to describe Londons' Tower Bridge but there's something about this place that makes it a bridge like no other. The bridge was built in Victorian times (finished in 1894). It's not the oldest suspension bridge but the amount of movies and publications it appears in make it one of the most famous bridges in the World. If I had to choose first place for most recognised bridges it would be Tower Bridge and sanfransicco golden gate bridge. Tower Bridge spans across the River Thames and is right next door to the Tower of London. So if you are visiting Londons' Tower then you might as well take the time to cross Tower Bridge at the same time.

COVID has put a damper on many activities this year. However, you can still find things to do in London. Our favorite stop tonight was the Tower Bridge. The lights are amazing and traffic is light right now so you can walk across the bridge and enjoy the lights and the view. Wear warm clothes and bring some hot chocolate and stroll across. Watch for the changing lights on the shard and the amazing views of the Themes.

Your trip won't be completed visiting London without making it to London Tower Bridge - one of the most remarkable landmarks of London. It's huge, beautiful, and such a great achitechture bridge I haven't seen elsewhere. A lot of people come here to chill, walking from one end to another, and couples come for a date too. It's a nice place for everyone.

Tower Bridge is a combined bascule and suspension bridge in London, built between 1886 and 1894. The bridge crosses the River Thames close to the Tower of London and has become a world-famous symbol of London. As a result, it is sometimes confused with London Bridge, about half a mile (0.8 km) upstream. Tower Bridge is one of five London bridges owned and maintained by the Bridge House Estates, a charitable trust overseen by the City of London Corporation. It is the only one of the trust's bridges not to connect the City of London directly to the Southwark bank, as its northern landfall is in Tower Hamlets.

One of the many landmarks that are to be seen in London. The towers design complements the Tower of London (which it leads to at one side) very well. There are lots of other sights to see around this area also – (The Tower of London, St Catherine’s Dock, the South Bank, Butlers Wharf etc.). You can check on their website when the timing of when it will be opening are.

(Translated by Google) London icon, it is one of the postcards of the city that gives you beautiful photos both day and night when it lights up. Easily accessible must-see next to the Tower of London, mesmerizing when you cross another bridge or stroll along the banks of the Thames. It is a drawbridge, an engineering prodigy of the time (late 19th century) that opens daily, although without pre-established hours. They say he gets up more than 1,000 times a year.

(Translated by Google) Tower Bridge (meaning in Turkish: Tower Bridge) is a two-story retractable bridge located on the River Thames in London, United Kingdom. Over the years, the British capital has connected traffic on both sides of the city on the river. It was named "Tower Bridge" because it is close to the Tower of London. Opened in 1894, the bridge is one of the most famous bascule bridges. The bridge consists of two horizontal walkways from a high level and two towers connected by a car from below. It's definitely an experience to do in London, but there's surprisingly little inside the towers to actually see. The view from the walkway is not much different from the view below and the glass walkway is about 5m long. There are some facts dotted around on walls about how it was built, but there's not a lot of detail. The engine room was more interesting, going into the lives of some of the people who lived/worked there

There are two parts for visit to tower bridge. One is inside tower bridge and victorian engine rooms. As you climb stairs and pass through the tower bridge, you can discover the story of tower bridge construction, people involved, design and key events. Best part is glass floor walk way. Its bit scary for few but after sometime, you will get used to it. You can view bridge beneath your feet through glass floor with moving traffic on bridge. Tip: Plan your visit inside tower bridge during bridge lift timings so that you view this from glass floor. Victorian engine rooms display how tower bridge was operated. If you are interested in mechanics, you can spend time here. For £10 ticket, it's worth visiting for a different experience.

The Tower Bridge Experience was great! Lots of stairs but lifts also available. The glass floor was awesome! The engine rooms were so interesting too and a short walk from the bridge towers. The whole tour took around an hour. In between touring the bridge towers and exploring the engine rooms we also got to watch the bridge open to allow a boat through. Great memories!

Been over it numerous times but never up, so that had to change! You start off with a film, before going over the walkway, you then also get to have a walk to the southern end of the bridge & out along the pavement & under the bridge on the south side to see the engine rooms as part of the tickets, which we did go & have a look at but I’d say they aren’t a must see personally.

My advice - take the stairs and look at the structure and architectural bliss on the way up. With plenty of information. It’s a steel bridge with brick decor due to the requested from Queen Victoria. Fascinating Trip. Worth The Money. Be Back Again.

What a fabulous experience! We bought tickets with the 2for1 travel thing from getting train to London. We were lucky and had great visibility and could see for miles. The staff were very knowledgeable and even knew the answers to our random questions. The walkway was fun even if it did give me strange feelings walking on the glass. Great for photos though if you can drag yourself onto it. The tour also took you through the boiler room which was really interesting. There is a lift there for people who can't quite manage the steps.

It was a great experience to enter the Tower Bridge towers, go up and down the stairs and especially walk the two walkways above street & river level. The glass floors were really cool. They don't extend across all the way but only in the middle of both walks, and for people who don't like it there is a wooden walkway to the side so this is suitable even for the less daring. You get a great panorama from up there. The engine rooms also come with the ticket & you get to see how the bridge was operated in steam engine time.

Photos from the top came out really well 👍Small children enjoyed the engine and pump room, it is very well restored.

This was an awesome place to explore. There were lots of elevators for our friend with hip issues. That was very nice of them. I think the best part is the glass floors of the bridge. I highly recommend looking up towards the ceiling where you will see a mirror if you want a really cool selfie over that glass floor. I can't believe this really old bridge is still there and hasn't been ripped out for money. Well, it probably already makes lots of money I guess. Neat place!

Lovely museum & tourist attraction split across two nearly locations - the bridge itself and the engibe room. Tells the history of Tower Bridge & those who built it really well. Great views from the walkway at the top plus a glass floor to look down on the road & river below. The steam engine room is really impressive & explains how the bridge was first powered. Another must visit in London. The most beautiful bridge in London I would say. Lovely pics from every angle. Very busy place however you can do like we did and go very early to get pictures without hundreds of people behind us. We had blue sky which made our visit a bit better despite the cold weather. Be careful of people not following the signs which tell you which way to walk, a shame because it would make the crossing smoother.

A must visit iconic site for first time visitors to United Kingdom. Despite the familiar childhood song of London Bridge is Falling Down, this is called the Tower Bridge. London Bridge is at the other side of Thames River, and is a modern bridge. Tower Bridge, a magnificent Victorian marvel spanning the Thames river in London, is more than just a crossing. It's a symbol of the city, a historical landmark. As you ascend the tower, you will get great views of the city. A refurbishment made saw the addition of glass walkway which allows you to see the traffic below. Not for faint hearted despite it being very very safe.

I visited recently, and the weather is excellent, not hot and not too cold as well there was no rain. It's very peaceful. Obviously, at the bridge, many people were taking pictures and videos, but I changed my way down the bridge, and it was so good. There were only three people, including me and the view and the piece. I just love it🖤🖤.

One of the must-see items on the map of London during a trip with children. During the tour they are involved in collecting stamps. The glass floor between the two towers with the option to watch traffic and pedestrians below is amazing! A great engine room where you can see how the mechanisms responsible for lifting the bridge work. Elevators - a great convenience for wheelchairs or people with disabilities. You can make a coin with your own hands as a souvenir, and buy souvenirs in the store at the end.

An enjoyable experience for all ages . Like the display of bits of equipment that went into making the bridge like the spirit level and bolts. Also a good explanation of how and why it was built in that style. It was a clear day so the views were good and everyone loved the see through floor. Any downside was the lack of toilets or even clear direction as to where they were .

Tower Bridge is one of the architectures defining London apart from the London eye, Big Ben ane Westminster. It is usually confused with the plain and simple London bridge, but the London bridge is just a normal bridge 1 kms downstream. The bridge is more than 100 years old and looks beautiful during the night when it is lighted with colourful lamps. The bridge opens once throughout the day, so you'll be lucky to catch it.

A masterpiece of Victorian engineering; there is no other bridge like it. The only bascule bridge across the Thames, although the outer portions before the two towers are designed as a ‘suspension bridge’. This leads from Southwark, south of the river, to the Tower of London. A walkway bridges the two towers at high level to both brace and relieve the pressure of the ‘lifting gear’ A two ‘leaf’ bascule bridge meant to provide access to the Port of London for high masted sailing ships (many on the continent are of single ‘leaf’ design,) and built in a neo-gothic style entirely in keeping with the prevailing style of its time; it is justly famous throughout the world. The original ‘lifting gear’ still works, suitably restored and maintained, and still opens the bridge when required.

A Neo-Gothic bridge, masterfully engineered to allow the passage of shipping. Traffic on London’s roads grew in the late 1800s, outstripping the capacity of the capital’s bridges and highlighting the need for a crossing downstream of the congested London Bridge. However, a new bridge at such a location would need to allow the passage of merchant ships on their way up to the Pool of London—the wharves on either side of the river. In 1884, after much discussion, an ingenious design by engineer John Wolfe Barry (1836–1918) and architect Horace Jones (1819–1887) was approved, and its specifications were set out in an act of Parliament the following year. Its roadway is divided into two leaves known as bascules (from the French term for “balance scale”), which are lifted up to allow shipping to pass. A grand opening. The bridge was built in the Neo-Gothic style fashionable at the time in order to harmonize with the nearby Tower of London. Construction began in 1886 and took 8 years. Two massive piers were sunk into the riverbed and filled with more than 78,400 tons (71,120 tonnes) of concrete to support the bridge’s two towers and walkways, which were made of steel and clad in Cornish granite and Portland stone. The bridge was finally opened by Edward, Prince of Wales (later Edward VII), on June 30, 1894, and has been open to traffic—and raised for ships—ever since.

A landmark in London not to be missed. It’s quite an impressive architectural structure. It’s about 10 minutes walk from st.Paul’s cathedral and right next to the London tower. You can do a loop walk from st.Paul’s to London tower, cross the tower bridge then walk the south bank and cross the river back using the millennium bridge.

Nice view fromTower Bridge is a combined bascule and suspension bridge in London, built between 1886 and 1894. The bridge crosses the River Thames close to the Tower of London and has become a world-famous symbol of London. As a result, it is sometimes confused with London Bridge, about 0.5 miles (0.80 km) upstream. The bridge consists of two bridge towers tied together at the upper level by two horizontal walkways, designed to withstand the horizontal tension forces imposed by the suspended sections of the bridge on the landward sides of the towers. The vertical components of the forces in the suspended sections and the vertical reactions of the two walkways are carried by the two robust towers. The bascule pivots and operating machinery are housed in the base of each tower. The bridge deck is freely accessible to both vehicles and pedestrians, whereas the bridge's twin towers, high-level walkways and Victorian engine rooms form part of the Tower Bridge Exhibition, for which an admission charge is made. The nearest London Underground tube stations are Tower Hill on the Circle and District lines, London Bridge on the Jubilee and Northern lines and Bermondsey on the Jubilee line, and the nearest Docklands Light Railway station is Tower Gateway.[1] The nearest National Rail stations are at Fenchurch Street and London Bridge. top of the bridge In the second half of the 19th century, increased commercial development in the East End of London led to demands for a new river crossing downstream of London Bridge. A traditional fixed bridge at street level could not be built because it would cut off access by sailing ships to the port facilities in the Pool of London, between London Bridge and the Tower of London. A Special Bridge or Subway Committee was formed in 1877, chaired by Sir Albert Joseph Altman, to find a solution.[3] More than fifty designs were submitted, including one from civil engineer Sir Joseph Bazalgette, which was rejected because of a lack of sufficient headroom. A design was not approved until 1884, when it was decided to build a bascule bridge.[2][4] Sir John Wolfe Barry was appointed engineer and Sir Horace Jones the architect (who was also one of the judges).[5][6] An Act of Parliament was passed in 1885 authorising the bridge's construction. It specified the opening span must give a clear width of 200 feet (61 m) and a headroom of 135 feet (41 m). Construction had to be in a Gothic style. Barry designed a bridge with two bridge towers built on piers. The central span was split into two equal bascules or leaves, which could be raised to allow river traffic to pass. The two side-spans were suspension bridges, with rods anchored both at the abutments and through rods contained in the bridge's upper walkways.[5] Construction started in 1886 and took eight years with five major contractors – Sir John Jackson (foundations), Baron Armstrong (hydraulics), William Webster, Sir H.H. Bartlett, and Sir William Arrol & Co.[7] – and employed 432 construction workers. E W Crutwell was the resident engineer for the construction.[8] The first stone was laid by Albert, Prince of Wales.[5]

Amazing experience that is not that well known. Being able to go to the top of the tower and experience the glass floor was amazing. On the way up there is lots of information about the tower being built. The engine rooms were great too, amazing to see one still in working order. Great value for money at only £10 for an adult.

Tower bridge is one off the iconic landmarks of London. Tickets can be bought online or on the spot. The staff is nice and helpful. There's queue to visit it and before going up bags are checked. To get up you can use the lift or the steps ...which is better since you can get a better glimpse of the inside. The glass floor walk shows how high the towers are. The view is nice, it's glass side walls with small windows open to take better photos. At the other end of the bridge you can take a photo of yourself and print it as a post card can also be sent on your e-mail for £4.00. It's surprising how much space is inside the towers even on the steps. In the engine rooms you can see how the mechanism really works. Just follow the blue line outside the tower. The shop is right next to the engine room. With public transport using the tube get off at London Bridge station. Restaurants are very close and not expensive. Other places very close and worth visiting...HMR Belfast, The Shard or Tower of London.

Went to the Tower Bridge Walkway and Engine Room Experience. It was really informative in terms of learning about the history of one of London's most iconic tourist spots. As soon as you enter you are greeted by old video clips showcasing the history of the bridge and there are written factual points dotted around with interesting facts about the bridge. Due to current social distancing measures they currently have a one way system in place where only one of the walkways is in use. The walkway itself has fantastic views of The Shard, City Hall, HMS Belfast, the Gherkin and Walkie Talkie building. The most attractive feature is the glass walkway where you can see directly below onto the bridge and there is also a mirrored ceiling above the walkway ideal for taking photographs. The Engine Room is a slight walk outside to the south of the bridge and via the gift shop. Here you had automated videos showing the old process for lifting the bridge and how the mechanism would work. Overall recommended for a family day out and great value for money.

The Tower Bridge was a really neat experience and probably my favorite attraction here. You can take the stairs and see much more than you would if you took the elevator. Hey lovely people, Architecture/Design wise Tower Bridge is top notch and impressive; however, if you wanna capture this beauty (in its entirety) in one frame, you may have to take stairs, go down and step away a bit. While you're there take a stroll and enjoy the serene Thames, castle 🏰 or historic edifice (not sure what it is called), The Shard and sky scrapers. Well worth a visit, the walk at the top is great, they have a couple of windows that look down onto the road below. Try to schedule your visit to a bridge opening!

What an impressive construction! We went on the bridge without going on the first day, debating whether it was worth paying for or we should head to the pub and spend our money there instead and so we did. Though, the day after we went up. What a sight, both the Tower Bridge itself, the view from the top bridges and the glass floor. However, for an engineer, the real sight was in the engine room with the old steam engines that are looking like brand new 🤩👏

Take the stairs if you can to learn the history and get some stats about the bridge. Ultimately it is a bridge so not much to do once up apart from admire the views of London and stand (or jump as some people did) on the glass floor. I suppose for bridge enthusiasts it can be quite a nice way to spend an hour. I loved being in a place that I have only ever seen in films and from a distance.

My wife and I attend an event last night 24th September 2022 as guests for the London Bridge Trust. We like to thank the host and Tower Bridge staff for a wonderful evening and for providing us access to pray on the 3rd floor. We had attended the event and witnessed a flotilla procession all from the walkway. It was a bit scary at first, walking on the glass with a view down to the bridge and river. We had an awesome view of London, the raising and lowering of the Bridge. Overall a wonderful experience. I do recommend others to purchase tickets and go up the walkway. Thanks to all involved in the event.

A walk on the top of Tower Bridge is a must do activity in London. It's just £11 per adult. You can go up using the lift or the steps. I highly recommend the steps unless you have difficulties climbing 250 steps. Views from the top of the bride are spectacular. There are small windows that you can open to take unobstructed photos of London skyline. There is even a glass walkway that can seem scary at first. But once you get over the initial fear, it's fun to walk on it. The Engine room is worh a visit and shows the fascinating engineering that went into making this massive Bridge.

Works are falling short to describe the beauty of this place. It's so beautiful and peaceful to be there and see the lights 😍😍 Go there at evening..have a walk..enjoy the hot and sizzling sweets ships nearby. You can also enjoy Christmas market which is just beside this. It has turned more beautiful in December ♥️ A must visit for tourists. It is just beside the Tower of London.

Great place to visit. Of course this is an icon of London with interest history but also a very nice exposition. The raw information is presented with graphics or video which is super cool. The facts are presented in a friendly way without a museum description. The top view is great and this idea with sliding windows for photo is great. The service is nice and helpful. Great souvenir shop and part of the engine room. Me and my wife spent over an hour sightseeing and I think that this is a must have place for every tourist.

Really neat tour with the history of not only the construction, but why the design is how it is. A couple of years ago the installed glass bottom panels in the two walkways that connect the tops of the bridge. This was cool to see and the view from up there is awesome. The tickets were very reasonable.

Beautiful Tower Bridge and surrounding places.Unfortunately,we haven’t covered all in one day.I would like to recommend those who are preferring public transportation. Before visiting Tower Bridge must check about event on the day, public transportation such as bus route, train availability. We had taken a long walk with a child due to event on that day.We haven’t check online about the event.Surrounding the Tower bridge so many places to view and it was amazing.

Obviously a beautiful bridge on the outside, but it was especially enjoyable to go inside and ascend a tower, walk across the walkway to the other tower, and then descend back down. The views from up top were spectacular, and the glass floors on the walkways afforded a unique experience.

Tower Bridge is the identity of London. Many people visit to see this ancient amazing architecture. This place is free for everyone. The gates open only when the large ships pass through for their final destination. Near to tower bridge their is a Palace as it has specific timings to visit. Beautiful creation by humans every time I visit this place, I feel peace.

A great experience in such a historic building. Some great views especially through the glass floor. If you have trouble climbing loads of stairs then please use the lift. Think this attraction is fantastic, especially bearing in mind the price of the ticket. I’d also suggest going on their website to order your tickets as there was a large queue waiting to purchase them. You can then go to the front of the queue in a special advanced ticket purchase queue.

Tower Bridge - nice, historical beautiful place! At the top, on both sides of the bridge, there are gaps in the floor with glass floors with a view of the river and people walking below, while the windows offer beautiful views of the city. For the family of three persons (1 adult + 2 children) we payed 22 pounds (in 2023.07.17) for this experience.

I am in love with London especially the tower bridge. It is spectacular and I am out of words to express its beauty. You can sit and watch the tower stand majestically during any time of the day or even at night. Its beauty never fades.

As I have seen what to expect on the tower bridge walk and didn’t hype up my own expectations, it was as I thought it would be. A five star rating from me. It was good to walk up a bit of stairs to the cross bridge for Birds Eye view of the city. I especially liked the glass floor. There was a talk on the history of the bridge by a guide and a further engine room tour in a separate area. Keep the ticket to access both areas. A nice gift shop at the end of the walk that is opened to everyone. Go on a clear sunny day. The queue can be long if you didn’t pre-booked the tickets.

Never miss a chance to spend good time around Thames with a great view of the Tower Bridge. You need to experience the place both in morning and night for a different experience. If you can - you can try a cruise experience in the evening to enjoy the night and have a great view of the city.

I recently visited Tower Bridge in London, and the experience was truly enchanting. The iconic structure itself is a marvel, blending history with architectural elegance. As I strolled across the bridge, the panoramic view of the River Thames and the cityscape unfolded, creating a picturesque scene that felt straight out of a postcard. The intricate details of the towers and the mesmerizing glass floor in the walkways added a unique touch to the visit. Whether during the day, with sunlight casting a warm glow, or at night, when the city lights illuminated the bridge, each moment was captivating. It's a must-visit landmark that beautifully captures the essence of London.

Absolutely fantastic to see the tower bridge in London. Tower Bridge is a unique landmark. Built as a working bridge to allow ships to pass while keeping road and pedestrian traffic running, it became a visitor attraction, and a venue hire and a filming location around 40 years ago. You might recognise it from a visit to London, or from a Hollywood blockbuster! From heart-warming details about our workforce to operational secrets, curious facts to daring feats, we invite you to peel back the layers and reveal the hidden stories of a Victorian, yet ever-changing icon.

A walk-through the history of the bridge is an attractive story of this magnificent attraction. QR code scanned at the entrance opens an online guide that explains the background of every part of the bridge. Very helpful experience! Also views from the top of the bridge are spectacular. Admission not extremely expensive.

Very interesting monument, with an amazing offer of things to do in its surroundings. Great views over The City modern buildings. Just, if you want to go up, the price is incredibly high! Not sure I’d say it is worth it.
