Cannot have fallen in love with a nature reserve faster. So many hides to sit and watch the birds from, so many small lakes with all varieties of duck. May have required a toilet at the furthest end of the west wing but otherwise cannot fault it. Perfect for bringing young kids to educate them about wildlife too. If you're after the most beautiful spot, head to the reed beds on the south wing - pure serenity!

Lovely hidden gem. 100% will be back. First family outing since covid19. Felt like we was in the countryside. But only 40 minutes drive from SE21 Staff was warm and friendly. Beautiful place, my 5 and 15yr both loved it. All the look out huts were amazing to see all the birds 🐦. Wish we bought our binoculars. As I did say it was our first time.. I felt they miss out on selling us items that would of make our trip even more special. They did sell us a map for £3:50. Which was packed with information. Very useful. There was no otter's on the day we visited.... We will definitely be come members. On our next visit.

Love the outdoors you’ll love this place. Bird watchers bring your binoculars! Free parking, food, map of walk, gift shop.. Otters to see when out, lots of wildlife, benches to watch and entertainment. Great for all ages, playgrounds to keep kids entertained and activities along the way. Highly recommend.

The wildlife conservation habitat opened in 2000 artificially constructed from former Victorian water storage facilities alongside the Thames. Covering over 100acres of mostly wetlands, ponds and open meadow with maintained pathways over unchallenging terrain. An Impressive outdoor amenity offering outstanding educational and recreational opportunity for all ages. Perhaps of more interest to dedicated birdwatchers and hardcore ornithologist but unlikely to disappoint the inquisitive.

This place is absolutely wonderful, my husband and I visited the centre for the first time and I can assure you, it won't be the last. I am in a wheelchair so we were unsure what to expect, but on arrival the staff were so very helpful they loaned us a mobility scooter and all they asked for was a donation, as I have never driven one before a lovely man showed me how to drive it, I absolutely loved this place it was like being in the middle of the countryside, it is also a fantastic place for children, such an amazing way to learn about nature and our environment, my next visit will definitely be with my Grandchildren, there is also an extremely nice cafe, we enjoyed a lovely lunch there, I would like to extend my thanks to all of the staff for their help and understanding and for making our visit extra special 👍

Stunningly beautiful! My daughter went with the school and liked it so much that we went again at the weekend. It's really well taken care of and incredibly rewarding as a family. We will definitely look at membership.

If you like birds and otters this is your place! Entry can be quite steep but it's nice that parking is included. Bring some binoculars and a picnic to enhance your visit. Also, talk to the staff and learn all the fascinating details of your avian viewing subjects.

Great place to enjoy nature with children. Visit the otters and listen to the talk at 11am or go pond dipping, go to the playground and play with the water feature or crawl through the tunnels, then have lunch at the cafe and then upstairs to the indoor play area. Simple fun and easy to cycle to if you go along the river. Pie and sides was £12.95. Children's menu - mini fish and chips £7 and Sausage hot dog £5. Easy enough to walk around with lots of benches for rest stops. Bathrooms easy to find and clean. Recommend bringing a picnic as we saw lots of families doing that. If you like gum nuts and gum leaves, then there is a World Wetlands area. Can easily spend 4 to 5 hours here just slowly wandering around.

We had a very lovely day at London Wetland Center. It is worth the ticket price to enjoy the nature and get informed. We visited at a weekday so it wasn’t much crowded. If you want to see the otters be by their pool earlier than the feeding time cause people block the windows with strollers. I didn’t know that they built the place out of nothing l was very impressed. Highly recommend.

Lots of parking a short distance to the main entrance On entry the staff on the tills were very welcoming, super helpful and friendly too I was soooo amazed how beautiful this place was, what with it being so close to the City of London The pathways were easy to walk along. Good footwear is always advised as some had a few little puddles. Signage to the hides and routes is very clear. Hides are so spacious. Some have soft padded seats too so makes it nicer to sit and take in the wildlife for longer periods, I did and enjoyed my packed lunch too Everywhere else is really well maintained and clean too. The shop has an assortment of gifts and even goes as far as selling binoculars and scopes Definitely going to revisit as it was one of my best birdwatching days ever

I am not your typical bird watcher but this is more than just a bird haven. The otter talk at 11am, repeated at 2pm, was wonderful. So gorgeous to see these beautiful creatures up close and personal. It was amazing to go into well appointed hides not realising what was behind, only to see a beautiful lake full of wildlife. Overall beautiful landscaping and natural looking buildings made it a lovely place to visit and a delicious steak pie and veg was the icing on the cake.

I loved this trip to London wetlands. So many amazing wild life here. I will definitely be going back again soon. It was £17 for each adult (which included donation) but it was a great break from city life and very peaceful there. Just a tip, that the cafe closed early at like 3pm and all the food is gone then, a bit weird as the place doesn't close till later.

Looking to return, photos are from Sept 2020. Lovely place to go to immerse in a bit of nature close to Central London, whether as a family, friends, date or alone. Loved some of the fun features they have for the kids, which can be enjoyed despite being an adult. Various areas and spaces for picnics, nature watch, photography or sketching/painting for the arty peeps.

Had a wonderful day at the WWT. Toilets, restuarants, shops were all of great standard. The walk around was lovely too and very helpful staff. If you like to walk, see wildlife or just to have some quality time alone or with family and friends a nice day out.

Excellent oasis in a busy place like London. Most of this I believe is man made wetland complex. Here you will see many species of birds and ducks. There is meadows with lots of plants, reeds and this time of the lots damsel flies and darters. Quite a few hides to observe birds. Educational facilities are available for school children. There are pair of otters which the warden feed which can be observed by the public, running commentary is given by the warden. Cafeteria is available if required. Well stocked shop with goods including spotting scopes etc. Admission prices are very reasonable. Well recommended place to visit.

The otter enclosure is closed for maintenance so check if that’s something you want to see. It’s on the website and well signed No bittern but our life membership - we started on annual - helps conservation and nothing paid today. You wouldn’t think you are in London. Want somewhere to walk around - accessible paths, free parking and staff and volunteers happy to give information. Want more serious birding but can’t get out of London or want to make the most of the time available to you there are different habitats and go through the collection to the Wildside and it’s more wild. We’ve seen bittern, who’d have thought in London. Not today but we heard water rail and saw half a dozen grey herons. It’s expensive, (but is it really?) for a single visit but check out membership. A visit in each season and it pays for itself and you support conservation.

We spent an afternoon here and it was a fabulous day out. It's a huge area of land with giant ponds/wetlands that's an environment for what seems like hundreds of species of birds. There were flocks of them in every area. Scattered throughout the wetlands are observation posts where you can sit and do a bit of bird watching, one of them is 2 story high so you can get a 360 view of the whole area. We found the west route far more interesting, but the south route had the two-story observation post (with a lift!). We even took pics of some cows and watched the otter feeding frenzy. We had a very good hot lunch here, it was a tad expensive but very tasty.

Beautiful nature reserve. Great location, accessible just in a couple of minutes from the busy areas of London. Parking for cars and bycicles available. Souvenir shop, coffe shop and toilets can be found also at the entrance and exit. The whole territory is easily walkable and can be completed in 2 hours in slow pace, with short stops and stopping for taking some photos. The admission price is well worth the whole experience and fun that a visitor can have here. Recommended.

An absolutely beautiful experience quite close to London city. I cannot believe that such a big and beautiful place is so close. It's hard to believe the outside world is so busy while visiting here. You feel like you're away. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was suggested to me to do the West walk first then the South. So I started on my West walk which took just over an hour from start to finish. I was walking quite fast but stopping to take photos. You could easily spend 2-3 hours here just taking everything in. The scenery is absolutely beautiful. The animals look to be well taken care of and in a safe environment. The plants are absolutely flourishing and gorgeous. The south side walk (for me) was a much quicker walk as there was not as much to see. The pond area was very interesting. The walk through was nice but not as nice as the West walk. Then there was a large playground for children which seemed quite busy. I would definitely recommend this to anyone in London, especially those who enjoy nature, bird watching or those with children. The entry price is well worth the say spend and you can see it goes back into the centre. Their social distancing and one way system that is in place works very well and is very easy to follow, there are always arrows so there's no way of getting lost. The café also had a great selection of snacks and ice cream (which were definitely needed on the hot day I went).

Really great place. There are loads of interesting birds to see in a good variety of landscapes. The park has two routes, each slightly different but both looping back to a main reception area with toilets, a cafe, and reception. Leave several hours if you want to see the entire thing, especially as in the summer it gets warm and rest breaks are needed

A delightful Watery Sanctuary right in the heart of London. A 15min walk from Barnes Bridge this a wonderful get away for the family, especially for the young ones. The restaurant serves hot food, but I noticed a lot of families had their picnics with them too. I spent a great day photographing wildlife.

Loved this place. Very relaxed. Great play park for the kids. My 9 year old loved it! As did my childless friend who just wanted a day out! Great fun! And free entry for those with boundless card! Lots of variety of birds. You don't feed them but they doesn't matter. Lots of hides to sit in so good in a wet day too!

I enjoyed a few hours here with my camera. To be honest I don't think it's as enjoyable as other WWT centres because of the jumbo jets flying over every five minutes. However, the theme of a Wetland in the middle of a city works well and I'd definitely return.

It was a very cold overcast winter's day, so we drove to the WWT in Barnes, right by the river Thames. Well it's free parking, has two cafe's, ample toilets and best of all loads of wildlife from otters to all types of birds and ducks. There are lots of Hides where you can quietly observe the wildlife so bring your binoculars. There's a shop of course and your visit contributes to the upkeep. Highly recommended for children and adults.

Fantastic place for family visits. My little one loved otters and feeding the ducks. The keepers were very informative and we learnt a lot of different types of animals and their characters. It felt as if we escaped busy London life and walked into a tranquil countryside. We will definitely visit again and pass on a good word to everyone else.

This is a beautiful sanctuary not just for the all the birds that reside in the area but also for us visitors. Spend a day here for a retreat from the city and enjoy the relaxing walks across the wetland centre. The cafe in the middle of both routes serves good coffee and pastries to seep you going!

Great place to wander around for a few hours - close to Kew Gardens and Richmond Park. You can see a wide variety of birds as well as the otters. The site has a nice cafe and shop as well. We went late in the day and I think they should offer a cheaper rate for that as its a bit expensive for families

A lovely gem inside the busy London!!! The staff member are always there to help answer questions and this place was such a lovely way to spend the weekend. The price was a little steep as a student but I loved the extensive wetlands and being able to see so much wildlife. It could be nice to state at the entrance what kind of birds we might be able to see on the day so we can look forward to finding them. It was a bit of a trek to get to with public transport I fully enjoyed it :)!

Peaceful, tranquil setting amongst one of the biggest cities. Looked after beautifully and a great place to go for a little adventure for adults and kids alike. Lovely play area, and a cafe/restaurant to get food. The Lego animals to find were a great touch too and saw some fab birds ☺️ Would say it’s a little expensive for large families though. we were fortunate enough to have won 2 child’s tickets, but still cost almost £28 for one adult and one over 65. On the whole a great day.

Although London has a lot of public parks, if you want to really get the gel of being in amongst nature you would be hard pressed to find anywhere better than The London Wetlands Centre. The layout is really well done with a number of spacious hides and a fabulously well developed setting. The planting and lake areas are lovely. The otters are a delight, if you want to take a break from the numerous birds. There's a spacious cafe with indoor and outdoor seating for a bit of refreshment when you need it as well.

Weddings at London Wetland Centre. The Water's Edge room at the WW London is bright and spacious, with a stunning view over the lake. Wildlife is in front of you to be enjoyed, so definitely the ideal wedding venue for any couples looking for something in London but out of the ordinary. I am a London Wedding photographer and I thoroughly enjoyed the Editorial Bridal shoot I’ve done here. Impossible not to fall in love with such an amazing place! I highly recommend this venue for anyone looking for something extraordinary!! Paola De Paola Photography

So our local one is arundel but decide to do the 4 and a half hour round trip to London. This place is stunning, staff have done so well to make it look so beautiful. We was there for 5 hours and still didn’t see it all. Ponds don’t have many ducks in which is a shame but plenty to keep the kids entertained and have a huge play area that’s brilliant and even has a splash pad. Will certainly be visiting again

Expansive wetland area near to the Thames at Barnes many different routes to choose from normally - operating Covid-safe limitations. Environmentally friendly. Fascinating birds, otters and more, plenty of learning opportunities for all ages and informative staff. Great shop to browse and buy, cafes etc, additional facilities in the car park. Play areas and wheelchair access, bird hides to sneak a peak at the private lives of the wildlife.

Looking at the website, I wasn't sure what to expect from a day out at the WWT but I would go as far to say it turned out to be one of the best days out we've ever had in London with the kids. First of all, for children there is absolutely loads to do, which you really wouldn't get from the website. The fenced in playground has lots of fun activities like a burrow maze, water spray, climbing wall & duck run which kept them entertained for ages, but there is also wild board walk and activities and exhibits that were all really interesting (the pond dipping activity was a big hit, we caught a newt). The volunteers on site were also incredibly helpful and clearly very passionate about the wildlife. Bird watching (essentially sitting quietly and waiting) is not something I would ever expect our kids to enjoy, but the volunteers made it so interesting we spent more than half an hour in some of the hides just looking for different birds. My only comment to make the experience better would be that the WWT place some binoculars or a telescope in every hide around the site (some had, some didn't). On site, there are loads of toilets and a nice cafe (which was a bit pricey, but where isn't these days!) Overall, a brilliant day out and well worth a visit.

This is one of my favourite places in London. Peaceful, beautiful and forces you to slow down and to appreciate nature. They do a great job of being family-friendly without any gimmicks: the birds and conservation come front and centre. Nice for a day out. Lots of different birds to see in the open. You can also watch the otters being fed. Lots for young children to do including a playground. You can have a picnic on the picnic benches or visit the cafe. plenty of clean toilets and a gift shop for souvenirs. Free parking for visitors. You can go back to the car as many times as you like and re-entry is free. The only negative is the price, a bit high for what is really a half day visit.

What an amazing place! Thoroughly enjoyed our day and to think this is in London. You feel that you are in a natural environment full of plant, bird and animal habitats. I would definitely recommend a visit.

I always go to take pictures of the wildlife every year great place along side Richmond but this is up close with no dogs running around barking and frog spawn down there in the pong and a under water camera along side a park where your children can play
