Unbelievable, unbelievable, unbelievable. I came here for a quick stay for new year eve. The room was alright, but there was a party going on just right below, so it’s way too noisy to sleep. I checkout immediately and left the place. All good, not until when I want to use the washroom real quick after exiting the place. The security was checking on me as I was entering. To my surprise, they question whether I should be in there to use the toilet after checkout out. This is just way out of excellent service, you do not ever say that to a customer who especially already paid for the hotel. I mean in general, I think the best thing to do is to educate staff members, and have them on a training programme. I’m already really annoyed with the noise, and now you try to deny me from using the toilet. Great. Here is your 1 star. What a great day to start the new year. Totally unacceptable.

Location is very good! Other than that was a bad experience. The room was so cold!! Also very few space between the beds. It’s impossible to open your drawer when someone else is in the room. The showers don’t have any space to put your stuff! It’s basically just the space for the shower. I have read this online before in some reviews but never thought it was so small!! Then the water was not that hot which was very unpleasant because I arrived very late that night and I just wanted a hot shower! Plus the cold room after! I had to sleep with all the clothes that I had in my backpack! In the morning I complained about this and the employee at the reception said they would take care of it. I just stayed for one night. Plus a guy in my room snored all night! It was horrible!! Also there is no kitchen in this hostel, even not just a small one if you want to do some coffee or tea. I didn’t know that! There should be a small area available at least! I asked for a mug and a spoon and an employee went to get it. I basically walked the stairs always. There is a lot of people at the hostel and 6 floors and the elevator is so small!! Good location but definitely a lot of things to improve related with the space itself! Staff was nice!

I was a bit disappointed in this hostel. The rooms are fine, nothing special but nothing wrong with them. The bathrooms are quite small for the number of guests using them. The bathroom on my floor also had several doors without working locks and at one point both toilets were out of toilet paper. There is no kitchen in this hostel, which is something I almost always utilize, but on top of this, they don't allow you to bring outside food into the bar/restaurant area either, so your stuck with either bringing in food to eat in your bed or eating at the restaurant if you don't go out to eat. The restaurant has limited options, mainly just bar food. It's fine and not terribly expensive but also nothing special. While I was there they didn't have pagers so you had to order the food online. This backfired for me because one of the nights I ordered mac and cheese, which had no description other than "mac and cheese" and it came out covered in bacon which I don't eat. The breakfast is also pretty expensive, again it's fine but it's really not worth the 9 pounds they charge in my personal opinion. Also, because there is no kitchen and not much in the way of communal dinning, I never really talked with any of the other guests which is also something I usually enjoy about staying in a hostel. The location is good, the staff were fine, but as far as hostel culture goes I was extremely underwhelmed. The nightly rate is lower than some of the other hostels around but you get what you pay for in my opinion. I would probably not stay here again given the choice.

The hotel is so so good. Except some rooms who had some flaws. It was acceptable. The bar was fun, the people working there were so kind. And it is so well placed in the city really. Tube, bus, trains all at maximum 10 min walk.

A nice place to stay with friends to have fun, but definitely would not recommend it for solo travelling or families. When I arrived I could leave my luggage in one of the rental lockers. At 15 o'clock, I tried to check in, but my bed had not been cleaned. I had to ask for it twice before they sent someone. The hygiene is poor in the shared rooms and bathrooms. The lady hygiene boxes were totally full and everything was visible. The room I stayed in was next to the smoking area. You could smell the smoke sometimes and hear the people talking at night. Overall it was a nice place to stay if you take the price and location in mind. The tube station Russell Square is just a few minute walk.

I wasn’t sure what to expect given the recent bad reviews but my stay was better than expected. I booked a private twin/ shared bathroom. Room was perfectly fine, yes it is a little bit cold because of the single glazed windows but the duvet made up for it. Room was clean, no complaints. Some of the wallpaper was peeling but wasn’t a big issue. Didn’t really use the bathroom facilities other than the toilet and it was perfectly clean. I have stayed in 4 other Generator hostels and this one is probably the most basic/ run down. But fine for a night sleep ! Can’t fault the location, close to everything ! Basically it could do with a renovation !

One of your better options for exploring London while on a budget. Good location, it's close to the tube so you can access any part of London from here. It provides your basic necessities, a bed, a shower, and a place to secure your belongings. In your bunk, you have a personal light and two USB ports. You have a personal locker under your bunk, but you either have to bring your own lock or buy one from the hostel. Plan ahead and bring a sleep mask and earbuds so your neighbors don't disturb you with lights and noise, otherwise they sell these things at the front desk. I liked the restaurant downstairs, the food was pretty good. The facilities are usually kept clean, I've seen staff cleaning multiple times a day. However, some changes could be made that could make the stay a bit more comfortable. I wish there were curtains around the bunks to give you a bit more privacy. And in the shared shower, there is only one hook to hang all your belongings which all get a little wet because the stall is so small. A hanging basket would make all the difference. Overall, good value for your money.

The entrance is very cool since it’s hidden in an alleyway. The place is cool easy check in and check out. People there are very cool although there’s a significant young crowd that like to go out in the bar downstairs where’s there’s usually a party. If you want to sleep early (before 3am) this is not the place for you. However if you want to sleep late and meet lots of people this might be the best hostel you’ve ever visited. Beds don’t have curtains. Great for a short stay.

As someone who has stayed at other Generator properties, I was appalled by this location. Pictures showed much larger rooms and cleaner facilities. I believe it is time to update pictures to reflect the current state of this location. Not only was there black mold in rooms but the pillows were as thin as a shirt. We booked a private 4 bed room, which should’ve had a desk (as advertised). It appears that they have turned private 2 bed rooms into accommodate 4. They have also closed majority of the bar area. (If you’re renovating, advertise that) On top of half of it being closed, they reserve for large groups so there are maybe 10 tables for the entire hostel to fend for. If you want a drink at the bar, note is standing room only with 12 year olds running around even at night. You’ll pay hotel rates for a dirty shoe box. Only good thing was the pizza and location.

I stayed for 1 night in a twin room with a shared bathroom. The person on reception who checked me in was really friendly and helpful. The room itself was a bit run down. One of the duvets in the room didn't have a duvet cover on which wasn't too much of an issue as it was just me staying, but they don't look that clean under the cover. Overall the room could be cleaner but was okay. There were towels supplied for free which is great. Internet in my room was a bit patchy. When I arrived the bathrooms weren't in the best condition, there was no toilet roll in some toilets and no soap but by the morning everything was sorted. The shower cubicles are very small, there's not really any space to put your things without them getting wet. I didn't have to queue at all for them so there seemed to be plenty! It was okay for what I wanted and had everything I needed for one night stay.

This place is exactly what a hostel should be, a cool space for young people traveling to hang out. Check in was easy as you could do it yourself at a little self check in screen. The bar downstairs had some good food and drinks and was pretty lively and had good vibes. The bathrooms were clean and the mattresses in the rooms had bed covers. Would definitely stay her again if I find myself in London another time.

Not impressed. Seems to be a hot spot for student tour groups. So don’t book unless you’re prepared to have a bunch of rude kids screaming and taking over the hall ways, bathrooms and entrances/exits. Some bathrooms/ rooms are really cramped well others are more spacious. I will say a plus is rooms have a sink. However, the sink in my private room did not work properly. The cold nob did not turn on so it was only scolding hot water. Food is decent! Beds are pretty comfortable for a hostel. The charge extra for every little thing they can. Bring your own towel, they are 4£ here to rent and shower shoes are 8£.

What a fantastic place to stay as a tourist! First, the hotel itself is superb. Friendly staff, awesome atmosphere, bar, amenities, etc. The dorm room format is a bit risky during the pandemic or in immediate post-pandemic times but I survived ahahaha One occupant was clearly sick though and kept coughing and stayed in for an entire day but I was fine Then the location of the hotel - it is perfectly located so close to everything! Few minutes from a metro station, close to many parks, some minutes from the British Museum... Quite affordable, I greatly enjoyed my experience and would definitely rent a bed again

So this is my third time visiting London, first time staying at a hostel. So..the staff here are young, cold, and unwelcoming. As SOON as you come in, no greeting, and no instructions. Did a self check in, got to my room only to realize you need to go back to reception and pay £4.50 for a towel….already off to a great start, but it gets better. Right outside my room window my first night, all you could hear is the staff on their “break” talking extremely loud past 1:00am!! In what world is that ok?! Sure it’s a “party” hostel, but the staff should know better. Yes, you’re working and you want to take a break and kick it with your co-workers, but at least have the decency to keep it at a low volume, or do it further away from dorm windows. There was no care or respect for the fact that people are trying to sleep and it’s after hours! (Please find another smoking area for staff, don’t have it so close to dorm windows where people sleep and don’t want second hand smoke flowing through the window) The cleanliness of the room was nasty, I don’t know if it was because I was the last one to arrive in the room and it had become very “lived in” but the floors were covered with dirt and hair. Overall, it’s a convenient option if you need to save money and don’t mind sacrificing your peace of mind. But I most definitely will not be recommending this hostel to anyone I care even the slightest bit about. It’s a no for me Generator London, sorry.

Friendly and helpful staff, the rooms were well kept and spacious. Breakfast buffet was alright, nothing special, but absolutely worth the 6£. The common area seemed quite fun. No need to rent any lockers though - there are storage capacities in the rooms that can be locked, you just need to bring your own padlock. Overall it was a great stay and worth the money!

Staff are really nice and helpful! The toilets and shower room are always clean! I see them clean it all the time and it’s really nice! Wifi is really good and fast! The location is very convenient too, it’s like in the central of everything! I hope there’s be more room for 4 shared girls room in the future so it’s less crowded. I had really good stay!

If you are a teen, or a backpacker this is definitely the place for you. Food is fine, beer also. Staff super friendly. Toilets generally in good conditions and clean. If you're over 45 and not in good physical conditions going down the bunk beds can be a problem. All in all a nice stop in London, surrounded by a nice neighbourhood and within a walking distance of everything.

Hostel amenities are quite good, the bar, breakfast, and location is nice. However, cleanliness was a big issue during our stay. The pillows and sheets were stained, bathrooms were constantly dirty, and no AC during the summer made the sleep hard to enjoy. This hostel feels like a cash grab. They don’t let you check in early so you pay for their overpriced lockers, everything from shampoos to water costs money. Even tap is not drinkable here

I got to stay in the 0-floor the smoking floor. Was staying in a female only room next tot he smoking are asked to change rooms because they smoke (cigarette/weed) continued to go inside. The washer/dryers were broken only one washer/dryer was working properly. They definitely need new bartenders… so always opted to go somewhere else. The shower cleaning house were a little odd… in the morning when everyone has to check out. The music was good. Never tried the food. The staff were really nice. Great place to meet new people. Great location the underground is 1 block away and the underground that goes to another country is only like 3 blocks away. Lots of places to eat around.

Good Tourist Location with affordable dormitory rate per night if booked early or in week days. Average Food and drinks at reasonable price. Bathroom and Toilets locks need urgent maintenance and room heater sound was very noisy in one of room during my stay. Excellent locker room facility.

Ethan help me to check friendly, it’s a looks pic beautiful only on the colourful lights The entire hostel is full of garbage. Believe me, it is only cheap but it is garbage. Heating working only 6 pm to 9 pm , dirty, towels, and stink toilets & without door lock, I don't know under what kind of compulsion the customers live there.

Nice place to stay and have new friends. Everyday restaurant vibes will be good to enjoy there. Nice choice who would like to save money and would like to stay in shared accommodation. For accommodation lockers take a lock with you, or you need to purchase it from reception. Or separate lockers are available on hourly rent basis as well.

Room 501, 5th floor. No showers on 5th floor. Only 1 toilet on 5th floor much too far away from the room. Room 501 is extremely cramped 10 person room. 6 people in cramped 10 person room, not covid safe but 'sharing is caring'. Shower for room 501 on 5th floor is on 3rd floor. Booking & paying for a private room with toilet and shower is no guarantee desk staff wont put someone into your room, but 'sharing is caring'. Not very safe for women. On 3rd floor showers, the dirty water from persons showering in other cubicles flow freely around your feet. Covid safe?? I dont know but 'sharing is caring' A lot of toilets and drains stinking. Staff cause problems, their solutions are as bad. Bathrooms need a good re-modelling, plumbing too. A lot of guests ask to change rooms. Moldy smell and black mold in shower rooms. Need own padlock for lockers in rooms. Too expensive to store luggage. Inane responses to reviews. 5th & 4th floor empty apart from the dreaded room 501. Keyes for rooms constantly stop working. Good location does not mean good hostel. Wiser to book the cancelable option.

Terrible. No toilet, no shower, no towels. Would've been comfier in Prison. reply - don't be disappointed, be constructive and proactive, try fixing all of the showers and toilets that were broken in the shared facility on my floor when I stayed. Spend your time maintaining your hostel and less time replying to bad reviews, you might not need to then.

Not quiet, not warm, not worth the risk to your health. Heat only in the room from 2000-2300 and 0500-0800. When the heat does turn on, it is a weak radiant heater on the ceiling, and does not reach the rest of the room. Due to the lack of ventilation, and cold temperature outside (1-0 C at night) meant there were puddles of water on the window ledge. The bathroom window has a vent that never closes, as well as the latch being tiled over so it can't lock. Mold on the ceiling in multiple locations due to the lack of ventilation. Beds are atrocious. The bar is open til 0300. The music didn't stop until 0345. Tried ear plugs, but could still feel the bass even on the 5th floor.

Me and my friend James Taylor stayed here a few times over the years and recently since we have been back (working winter wonderland) we have seen such an improvement on the hospitality! The reception staff are phenomenal. There is a man called Charles and hes been so helpful and understanding of situations. Hes really made us happy to stay there, REALLY!

It’s a very big hostel, which results in a more anonymous atmosphere. Personally I didn’t mind, because I had a lovely chat with the girls in my females room. Overall a good stay, only quit some noice at night coming from the smokers area. But the hostel location is amazing and it’s all SUPER clean. Would definitely recommend and come back again.

Really great place for an affordable stay. We had a four bed room between the four of us and it worked out at about £65 each. Extremely basic but everything you need. Shared showers and toilets but everything was clean and functional. Few tips, bring your own towels and shower gel etc. The food looked good although we didn't eat there.

For a very short trip to London it is good enough, central but only decently clean. However if you want to stay for a longer time I would recommend checking out some cheaper hotels that have bigger rooms. If you plan to come with more than two people then be prepared to sacrifice some private space. Would not recommend getting placed with random people. If you book a shared bedroom then make sure that you know each other before. Also if you need quiet time while sleeping it can be loud sometimes, but not too loud.

Do not stay here. This was my 3rd time in London. I stayed at the generator because it’s walking distance to Euston station and I needed to get to Manchester early one morning. I stayed at the Generator in Miami and had a great experience there, so staying in the London Generator made sense for this trip. I was meant to stay for 3 nights but changed accomodation after 1 because of how bad this place is. I stayed in a 4 person room, which really should have only been for 2 people it was that small. We were in there like sardines and it was inevitable that we were in each others way. No one put their bags in the storage spaces in the room because they were so hard to access. There wasn’t enough room for me to even open up my bags and sort through anything, so I had to do it out in the hallway so that I could have some extra space. Also the walls are paper thin, the mattress is uncomfortable and the pillow offers 0 support. Please be very careful with this place, as for the shared 4 person room they don’t make it abundantly clear that there is no bathroom in the room. There was only one bathroom on my level, which was about 6 sets of doors away (very inconvenient at night), and that bathroom was locked from the outside while I was there, so I couldn’t use it anyway. This meant I had to go down to the main communal bathroom area, which is akin to a prison shower situation. Don’t drop the soap vibes. The bathroom was smelly, dirty, incomplete, and hard to maintain privacy. The showers were tiny too, you could hardly move around and soap yourself without bashing your elbows on the wall. This made it quite difficult to keep the curtain closed for privacy. The staff didn’t care much either about my complaints at the time and understanding that I wanted a better room. I went to Manchester the next day and booked a new accomodation on my way back. Also to store your bag for a day it’s £10 which is very steep compared to other hostels I’ve stayed at. The accomodation is very overpriced for what it is. I paid £45 per night and thoroughly regret it. Please don’t stay here

Very buzzing popular place, retro, modern designs, plenty of colour and atmosphere to the whole place. Guests mostly under 25's. Super friendly attentive staff, very helpful and genuine. Didn't get to try the food sadly, but the food hall looked great and was packed so that should speak for itself. Everywhere was clean to a high standard, comfy beds, hot showers! Good value, Lovely night!

Good vibe, great crew. Place is massive, has a lot of indoor stuff to do. I saw a lot of families coming out with their kids. Overall it's a nice place to be at to visit London attractions. Walking distance from tube stations is a surplus🤘🤘🤘

checked in at 11pm with no problem, quick process and staff were friendly. it really depends on your luck regarding the noise levels. was quiet on my first night, and there were a bunch of teenagers blasting music until about 1am. would have appreciated if there were more obvious signs around the hostel, as it took me a while to find my room after requesting directions from the staff twice. toilet and showers were pretty clean. quite conveniently located near kings cross st pancras station, less than a 10 minute walk

Great place to stay in London on a budget! Rooms were clean and comfortable, and the location is amazing. Staff was great, but I received the best service from Jena! She was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and answered all my questions with patience from an anxious traveller like myself. 10/10 would recommend!

I stayed here overnight on a college trip with my chums who shared a room of six bunk beds with me. The beds have their own lights and USB charging stations. No en suite, just a sink with a hot and cold tap and hand soap attached to the wall. If you need the loo, it is set as a public set of toilets, so we all ended up hogging the sinks to brush our teeth- no issue with this since no strangers came in. You have to make your own bed when you arrive which is not an issue for me and the beds were moderately comfy. However, the mattress cover looks like it is made out of some plastic-like material. Nice and hygienic for the mattress but when you toss and turn to get comfortable it is noisy, so that was annoying and I was concerned of waking up my other roommates in the process. We were booked in for breakfast, the room is rather dark and I am afraid I was not impressed with the breakfast standards. THE GOOD: There were bowls, plates, glasses, cutlery and napkins to carry on trays. The breakfast is set out as a buffet There is cornflakes, and they offer plant based milk as well as cow milk. There was orange juice and apple juice They offered jam, butter, peanut butter and Nutella spreads There was fruit- I had an apple and chopped pineapples which I regret putting on my cornflakes. I saw some people with hot drinks, but they might have got them from the coffee machine. THE BAD: No toast, just white bread and buns. THEY OFFERED CHOCOLATE CAKE! FOR BREAKFAST! There were slices of cold cheese and salami. Nothing that represented full English. It was a cold, confusing breakfast I am sorry to say. Apart from the pros of the breakfast, it would be nourishing for people if they came down to food people can easily relate to as breakfast like toast, crumpets, bagels and hash browns, if you understand. Overall, I felt content with my stay.

A great place to stay in London when you’re traveling on a budget. The rooms are a bit small but you’re not expecting to spend too much time in the rooms when in an hostel. The staff really was the highlight of my stay! They were always super friendly and helpful! A special thank you to Will for his kindness and good vibes! I will definitely come back!

We were promised a late check in due to our flight to London which was at night. However the flight was delayed an hour which caused us arrive later than planned. When we arrived they had unexpectedly moved our beds around last minute and therefore placed us in separate rooms, even though we booked TOGETHER. This was to our surprise. The staff was very rude about it and said the inconvenience was our fault for being late and booking cheap stays. They barely made eye contact or tried to seek a solution with us. We spent one terrible night there in separate men only dorms (we are 2 girls). Next morning we cancelled our stay and found another hotel. Cannot recommend this place if your looking for a good time, AVOID! :-(

We stayed in a private room with a shared bathroom. Pros: OK location, great breakfast options, comfortable beds, cute decor Cons: Very crowded, moldy showers (and unclean bathrooms in general), EXTREMELY noisy (even in a private room you’ll hear the bar/neighbors) Takeaways: If you stay here, bring earplugs. There were many families here (which I was surprised about) because it is definitely a party hostel. On our last night, there was vomit everywhere in the hallway and it was not cleaned up by the morning. I enjoyed my trip but I would not stay here again…

Very happy with my stay here. Rooms are small but that's expected. Beds were comfy and chargers on each bunk was very handy. Toilets had to find initially on each floor, extra signage would be appreciated. Showers were pretty good though a few were out of service. There were families, travellers, school trips, groups of lads and girls. Seems to be a spot for everyone!

Great hostel. The staff are really friendly and helpful. I slept at a 6 person bedroom and we had our own bathroom which were cleaned everyday. The bed was comfy and when I needed new sheets they glady send me some. Great value for money.

Good clean cheap accommodation in the centre of London. Breakfasts are unfortunately grab and go, rather than the help yourself fry-ups pre Covid-19.

Great hostel. Not too expensive yet still clean and friendly! Staff super kind and helpful. Well decorated with a pool table, a fusball table and a games machine. The only downside is that you can’t bring in your own food and drink, would have no issue with this normally except the cafe downstairs only has 3 pizzas and a hot dog on the menu and the vending machine, only contains crisps and drinks, didn’t work… apart from this amazing stay, comfy beds and great atmosphere

Staff are always polite and are happy to give recommendations for things to do/see and places to eat/drink based on your price range. They also are extremely helpful whenever I had a problem or needed help. Great rooms and offer private and dorm rooms. If you’re a light sleeper and pick a dorm room I’d suggest an eye mask and ear plugs which can be provided by the hostel themselves for a low price. I always have a great time staying here and it’s always my first port of call to stay if I’m visiting London

We spent New Year's eve here a few years ago, so of course it was expensive, not surpringly. Good place to meet fellow travelers. The facilities were really good and clean, very convenient also as far as getting infos on the city is concerned. The problem about chain hostels often is that they are much stricter about all kinds of rules, but one could feel that those working there tried not to be the party poopers either.

As I lay here in my hostel pit I’ve never been so hot. Outside is cool, inside is not. Another cold shower it is……..

Very crowded place, queues to reception. Non-existent soundproofing between rooms, incredible level of noise with people shouting and arguing in other rooms and on the street at 1AM and 2AM. Strong smell of mold in the hallways. The room looks shabby compared to other hostels in the same area with cheaper prices. I got locked out of my room in the morning because the card wasn't working even though it was not yet check-out time. Towels are not included and there was only one very small bathroom for dozens of people in different rooms (without a shower, I guess it was in some other place but I didn't investigate). Baggage storage is not included. Cellular signal was weak-ish throughout the place. Bed wasn't ready when I checked in and was only prepared later. Sockets are on the other side of the room opposite to beds.

This place is kind of a dump. It's cheap, which needs to inform your expectations, but even at that it's still not good. No communal area to drink your own booze, so you're forced to use the hostel bar. Wouldn't be a big issue except the bar is awful - dead energy, some fella on a laptop doing a Zoom interview. Beds are clean and relatively comfortable, no issues there. Pretty sure some guy was living in my room full time though. All in all if you're looking to have a fun time I can't really recommend the place. It's a clean bed for the night, but nothing more.

Great value for money in Central London. For a 1* hostel it really does stand out. Clean and modern, the private bunk bed room we stayed in was adequately sized too. Will be using again with friends.

We planned a trip to London for 3 days and booked in this hostel. Unfortunately, because of the sanitary situation (Covid-19), we couldn’t leave France. Moreover we were positive to Covid with a positive test to proove it. No negotiation could be envisaged (no repayment or changement of dates). We are very disappointed and saddened by the lack of effort in this situation that we couldn’t anticipate ...

Definitely a 1 star hotel as google describes. I’ve stayed at my fair share of hostels and this is probably one of my least favourite. For the price we really should’ve just booked a hotel room and would’ve been far better off. Shared washrooms - even for the private rooms. Showers are near the stairs. Women on one side and men on the other. It’s quite the distance if your room is at the other end of the hall and on the other side of the stairs. But really not the end of the world. We booked a private room. The floor was sticky when we arrived. We asked if housekeeping could clean it for us. It remained sticky after the second cleaning. We gave up and just used our shoes inside the entire time. You also make your bed when you arrive. Check in and check out was easy with the self-service options. Helped us avoid the long lines. Although check out is earlier than other places at 1000. Staff were mostly friendly with the odd person who may have been having a bad day. Large accommodation so very easy to make friends if you’re travelling solo. Location is good. But highly unlikely I’d stay here again.

I checked in for 3 nights. It is a very popular hostel, so expect lots of people in your shared room. It was very crowded when I was there. Some people checked in at very late and will disturb your sleep. Shower room is fine but I wish for something more cleaner.

Functional and perfectly nice. Had a private twin and it was fine. Staff could be a little more welcoming & cooperative at check in. Showers have no space to change, which seems poorly thought out. Room was reasonably spacious. Plastic covers on mattresses which are a pain but you get a sheet to put on top (unlike some hostels). Don’t forget to bring your own towel (or rent at reception) if you’re not in a private room. Overall it’s fine, does the job!

We stayed there 2 nights and we loved it! Very practical hostel, clean and well situated in camden on the picadelly line. The neighborhood is super cute and with plenty of options. The staff at the reception is amazing ! Highly recommended if you are on a budget and are planning the spend most of your time outside.

This is the only best hostel in this post code and neighbouring postcodes. Staff, cleanliness, comfort, breakfast, wifi, rooms, corridors, showers, reception, and bar are described by a single word excellent. Thank you Generator hostel because you gave me 2 free breakfasts as well because you found I am a loyal customer. I will always come here again in future with my guests as well.

Okay visit. The building was nice in the lobby but got progressively worse as I went to my room - not very clean and really grim and dark. It’s a fine place to stay if you just need a bed to sleep in, but I didn’t find it as a very social hostel. There is only one communal bathroom / floor. While there was always an open shower or toilet, it was really frustrating to need to walk to the other side of the hostel to use them. The areas need cleaning more often as it was not the cleanest. Staff were kind and welcoming, but the hostel itself was only okay. I likely wouldn’t stay here again.

Well first off the lobby has a cool design to it and has a tube map so tourists know the Underground system. The bar is nice and good priced for a place to stay and being in London; it’s a nice change. However entrance is in an alley, that you have to keep an eye out for. Next the rooms only have bunk beds that are squeaky and small. They thankfully have a charging area on them. The rooms have no showers or toilets so it’s a hassle if you need to go to the toilet as the closest is down the hall or downstairs in the lobby. There is no place to shower or of there is one I didn’t see it so I left feeling unclean. The food is like a typical school dinner with the trays and it was alright. The place is safe and child friendly though.

The generator was a nice place to chill with friends, but the breakfast served was quite disappointing. But the placement and cleanliness of the place was great! 8,5/10, a great place to sleep if you're visiting for a short time. But if you're in your youth, and you need a place to be for the weekend, I see no reason why you shouldn't choose The Generator.

To start staff were helpful and kind. Stayed in twin room. The room was all ready and clean. Bed actually decently comfy. Room was a good size and the shared bathroom fairly clean. Only issue was the noise which they can’t help. The 2 fighting in the hall were quickly broken up by security, they were quick to respond. Felt really safe.

Two stars, but I put one and half star actually only for location. Other things are not so good... I am very angry because I booked 8 people mixed room, but I get 10 people mixed room. I tried to speak with 3 different people in the reception but they said that I am wrong. Well, I can count till 10 and if you do not believe customer try to go with him to his room and check it. I also rent a towel and after that when staff cleaned room they took it, so I went to get another one, but you asked to pay for towel once again. I did not pay for towel, but it is quite annoying... Another disadvantage is that near some of beds are not sockets that is inconvenient. There is light installed above head but it is not working as well. Also I missed the curtains around bed to make it a personal space in the shared room. Another thing it is that I saw ants in the room. Also bedroom’s door is noisy and heavy when people closes the doors it makes a loud noise which maybe unpleasant if you’re tired and want to sleep. Showers could be a bit cleaner, but it is okay for such a big hostel!

My stay was OK in terms of the dorm rooms and facilities, however don't expect to get anything for free: prices were very expensive for absolutely everything and they charge you for everything too. 2 pounds to use the pool table, 6 pounds to use the lockers if you want to store your luggage away before checking in or after checking out which is absolutely absurd. I've been to over 100 hostels over time and this is the first time I've ever been charged for luggage storage while I wait to check in. They'd charge you for the tap water if it wasn't illegal to do so in London. Seemed to be a lot of people checking in and checking out within 1 day so if you're travelling solo I don't think it's a good vibe to meet many people. Overall a very soulless corporate atmosphere which feels far more like budget hotel with a bar than a youth hostel for travellers

Good hostel. Everything is great: clean shower space, rooms, friendly and communicative stuff who always help. Music at bar is just "chef's kiss", any other hostel never made my day playing Queen and Arctic Monkeys while breakfast 😅. Definitely will stay here my next visit to London

Stayed at the generator for the last 5 days and it's been great. Booked into a dorm room and was given a bed in an 8 bed room, but only half of the beds were in use to aid social distancing. Beds were very comfy and the hostel was clean overall. Made good use of the facilities provided, with a good sized bar area for guests to relax in. Location is fantastic, and for the price you can't beat it! I'll definitely be staying here the next time I come to London.

The self check in is such a nice feature in this hostel! Once I got to my room it was another story, my assisted bed was dirty and used sheets, staff told me to just move to another bed. The staff overwhelmed by check in and not thinking much about the room being fully booked that weekend. Later on that night I had one the ladies in the room tried to fist fight another person in the room. I felt she was mostly upset at her accommodations and hostels are certainly not for everyone. Thankfully staff escorted her out. That was the first night but the rest of the weekend was good. The other ladies in the room were all great to chat with. Everything was pretty close. Its a good hostel but a little overwhelming at time since it is closer to the center of a large city. Lockers are great for exploring a bit after check out.

This hostel would have been better had it not been for the inaccessibility for my friend who is a wheelchair user. We called ahead and specifically asked if they had accessible rooms. They said they did so we trusted it was accessible as also advertised on their website. Our room was in an isolated room on the basement level (Room 10, level 0), with bad lighting and it was cold. The room was 4 people, 2 bunks and very very small space for the wheelchair, which had to be confined to the corner and allowed for very minimal movement. We asked three times to upgrade to perhaps a more accessible room or a private room but were denied because they were completely booked out. No effort was made on behalf of the staff to accommodate this issue, no refund or price reduction were offered and apparently no concern shown. Only the Aussie bloke at reception was helpful and suggested that we come to reception at 7-8am to see if there were any cancellations. There were also steps everywhere in the common area so we had to ask people to lift up the wheelchair. The lift was not very efficient for the amount of foot traffic. My friend would wait upwards of 10 minutes just to get to the floor above. Also on the last day the accessible entrance door was broken from the inside. Other than that the food was really good and the shower / bathroom was very accessible. Also it was in a good location. Just wish they would be more transparent about their accessibility rather than claiming to be fully accessible.

Hands down the best breakfast I've ever had in a hostel!!! It's more like, say, a 3 star hotel with both continental (toast muffins, etc) and fried options beans, bacon, sausages, and hashbrowns. Oh, and proper coffee at the bar, too. If you order it while you book, it's 7.50 and highly recommended 👌 Shout out to Ethan on reception for being so helpful, too..
